"Dolce is an L-shaped counter-service place in the North End, straddling the corner of Hanover and Parmenter. One half of the L serves gelato and cannoli, while the other half serves small personal pizzas and sandwiches. The pizza is good with a nice char to it, and it’s a good option if you’re looking for a quick lunch, but otherwise you’re better off going to Regina or Umberto." - Dan Secatore

Stopped here for some gelato while walking around Boston. It was great. Cash only so be prepared for that otherwise it was a yummy stop. I was impressed by the variety of flavors. We had the salted caramel and the strawberry both were good although I think we both liked the fruity flavor better.

Really just felt like another tourist trap. With its cash-only policy and low ratings, we should have seen the red flags, but we wanted to try something new. The first half of the space was lined with tiramisu that looked mass-produced, likely shipped in from a low-tier supplier. We got the cannoli & limoncello tiramisu and both tasted eerily similar to the prepackaged desserts you’d find at boba shops—subtly sweet but with an off-putting flavor in both the cream and the sponge. The gelato in the back was no different. I got the lemon sorbet, and it was overwhelmingly sweet.

Google
Cute lil sweet treat stop in the north end. Cash only. They did have an atm there but the fee was $4! My husband got the gelato and it wasn’t too great but I had a tiramisu and it was sooooo good! $6 for a huge piece and it was the best I’ve EVER had!

Since we are trying the more famous cannoli spots later on a tour, we popped into Dolce for one of theirs. It’s all about how you want to spend your time. The lines for other spots were around the block and I’d rather be eating a cannoli than standing in line for one. They had a good variety and I appreciate it wasn’t premade so that you can decide your options.

Google
Walked around to find a good, fresh cannoli after dinner. Super long lines at Mike’s and Modern so we tried Dolce. Cannoli was made to order and super fresh. They only accept cash, so be prepared.

Google
So….. if you’re looking at the store front, the staff on the left was friendly. But I got side tracked by the cake on the right side sadly and that was a mistake. The carrot cake was so dry and had no flavor. The chocolate cake was bad. Right side staff clearly didn’t want to be at work. There is much better desserts elsewhere.

Google
33 flavors of tiramisu! A lot of seating options. Only accepts cash.

Google
Great service. Great cannoli, this was my very first true cannoli. Rich, full of flavor, perfect texture. Definitely worth the trip!

Robyn Z.

Yelp
the pistachio was incredible! heads up this is cash only ordered: pistachio and limoncello

Kris P.

Yelp
Got a pistachio cannoli . They have options of all kind of shells and filling and you can choose to add chocolate chips or almonds ! Super cute caffe that is cash only . They offer coffee and lots of pastries. The service was Friendly and I will be backs again .

Caroline K.

Yelp
We tried three different tiramisu flavors, and they were all good. The pistachio flavor was my favorite. It was sweet and not too nutty. The cannoli flavor was also very good with chocolate chips and pieces of the cannoli pastry shell sticking out. The salted caramel tasted the most like a traditional tiramisu but with additional salted caramel flavor. Note that you can only pay in cash. It was a little small inside but there are some tables to eat at.

S S.

Yelp
Looked delicious but I wouldn't know. Cash only and I wasn't about to pay their atm fee to purchase an item.

Anthony F.

Yelp
Stopped by in the late afternoon for some gelato. They have pastries, pizzas and tiramisu as well. The gelato was average but need to ding them for lack for pricing or signage. And also cash only. They have a few tables inside and it's decent enough. Service was fine.

Susan D.

Yelp
Stopped by for gelato. I was used to just seeing them offer window service. But they've expanded. They also have more gelato and pastries indoors plus a small seating area. Then I realized they have 33 varieties of tiramisu. Enjoyed my strawberry + limoncello gelato. Got some coconut tiramisu to go. Cash only- they have an ATM on site.

Elko P.

Yelp
Visited through a food tour, and tried the affogato which is vanilla gelato with espresso poured over. Now, as someone that dislikes the taste of coffee - THIS WAS AMAZING! The coffee turned a more creamy taste along with the gelato to make for a wonderful, smooth balance of flavors that would be perfect for dessert lovers.

Brandon B.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Gelato was honestly gross. Tiramisu was trash can worthy. Only giving 2 stars because well the pizza looked good but didn't have enough cash to get it.

Dakota M.

Yelp
This place was such a welcomed Gem on my trip to Boston! The sign out front for breakfast sandwiches' for 3.99 pulled me in. This is a CASH ONLY cafe. They have Illy coffee and delectable treats adorning the front entrance way and through the gelato case to the pastries. I was there for the sandwiches' though. They make the sandwich's too order, on a crepe griddle (amazing). While we waited, the vibe was really nice so we also ordered coffee which was such a treat! I am not sure what it is about italian coffee, but they know a thing or two. We got to people watch from the cafe while enjoying our breakfast sandwiches' and coffee. What a very fun and impromptu date breakfast this place was. When i'm back in Boston, I plan on coming here every morning to start my day!

Yelp
We were visiting Boston on Labor Day weekend, 2024. The afternoon was starting to get hot, so we stopped in to try the gelato. My lovely bride said the lemon gelato was fabulous. I loved their lemoncello version. Several tables are perfect for people watching on Hanover Street. Service was fast and courteous. They advertise 33 kinds of tiramisu. Highly recommended!

S H.

Yelp
This was a cute stop for a gelato, I was nervous about the bad reviews, however our experience was good! We had pistachio and salted caramel, both were yum and creamy! The staff were friendly and funny! We got a little table in the corner right next to the window and were able to spend some time working on our laptops!

Sharrun N.

Yelp
I recommend, but just so you know, it's cash-only. I like that you can get a pastry or gelato. I usually get my husband a cannoli and myself a gelato. I had a key lime gelato recently and it was fabulous. There is a great selection, although I haven't tried many different ones - yet. Or any beverages. So many reasons to go back! Staff is pleasant. There are a few tables inside and out.

Kandice Z.

Yelp
Always great Gelato! Very nice people! Excellent service! I highly recommend! Pistachio is my favorite!

Jen S.

Yelp
Decent gelato on a busy North End street. They give you a hard time if you ask for 2 spoons though (for one order). Maybe person was having a bad day. It was Feast of Saint Anthony after all. Busy day in the area. The espresso flavor is my favorite.

Kris A.

Yelp
Cash only gelato place. The girls at the counter are nice. Variety of gelato selection available. Calm and chill vibes inside. Service is fast. If they only have an option for card using patrons it'll be all convenient for all (:

Jamie D.

Yelp
Best gelato and desserts in Boston! The cannoli, tiramisu, and pastries are so good. I even grabbed some biscotti and cornetti for the next day.

Emely R.

Yelp
I don't know why the review say that this gelato isn't good, the local Italians that we have spoke to said this place is outstanding. We took a shot and tried it out lots of variety and very creamy gelato. They also serve cannolis, pizza, sandwiches, coffee, and teas. I didn't see any issues and the staff was very polite when we ordered. Highly recommend to anyone!

Kelly Z.

Yelp
!! cash only !! Dolce is a small local shop that serves amazing gelato, fresh pizza, cannolis, and pastries! Simply a cute shop to wind down at the end of the night and just enjoy good treats. They have a decent amount of seating inside, normally people just pick up their treats and leave so there are definitely seats available. I love the concept of the gelato station in the front of the store, you don't have to actually step in the shop and you can simply stop by and pick up some gelato! Super affordable treat and nice staff. This place is not pact either so a quick stop to gelato is right here! I love the gelato here I got the strawberry and chocolate - I know I'm basic but you know the place is good if they can nail the basics! The strawberry had tiny bits of strawberry pieces in it and it was smooth and creamy! I like the gelato here because it the texture is unique, very thick like thickened soft serve. A lot of other places that serve gelato makes me feel like I'm just eating regular ice cream but this definitely makes me feel like I'm eating gelato! The cannolis here are amazing! I like the way they stuff the cannolis and the cream in it was super fluffy and sweet! Overall I'm happy to have stopped by this place! Definitely a hit for quick grab and go gelato!

Tyler C.

Yelp
Go for the cone, not the cup. Gelato in the heart of Little Italy. Mixed berry was excellent. Mint chocolate chip was more green than minty.

Joey W.

Yelp
Finished dinner in the area and decided to grab some gelato afterwards. I didn't know it was cash only but luckily had cash. For two gelatos, it came out to be $12. Lemon - it's refreshing and tart after a heavy pasta dinner. I know it wouldn't be creamy since it's a fruit flavor but it's a little icier than I would've liked. Grapefruit - I thought the grapefruit would be tart but it was surprisingly pretty sweet. The texture was also icier.

Jessica Z.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place on a hot sunny day, and the gelato was right outside so we were tempted to try it. We got the vanilla and espresso flavors, but we thought it was very okay - the flavors were a little off and weren't as strong as we hoped. The texture was also a little strange, though I can't really put my finger on it why it tasted off. I recommend trying another place if you want amazing gelato, though.

Megan T.

Yelp
The coffee was delicious!! We had a breakfast croissant and cappuccinos. Delightful little place. Definitely will return!

Grace F.

Yelp
They sold me a croissant that was supposedly "chocolate" - looked like chocolate so I asked for a chocolate croissant. They gave it to me without saying anything. Got home and started eating it. Had an allergic reaction - it was Nutella, which I'm severely allergic to. My boyfriend had to sprint 20 minutes to the nearest CVS to get Benadryl while I vomited and had severe shortness of breath at home. A simple correction when I asked for chocolate could've saved my life. Nice!

Doug B.

Yelp
Wow. Amazing gelato. Great service. They nailed it with the European style. I had the chocolate chip and it was absolutely fantastic. I also loved the chocolate. Lots of choices, all the traditional options both creamy and fruity. Cafe style, lots of coffees. They even have a wine menu. Come watch the game on their big screen or sit in the window and people watch. Definitely pay them a visit after dining in the north end.

Hussein A.

Yelp
I usually don't write bad reviews, but if there was ZERO stars, I would give it to this place. The worst ice cream service possible. There was a female server there who had curly brown hair. We asked her to give us a sample of ice cream and she scooped the wrong flavor. So she grabbed the spoon and smacked it in the trash infront of our group. The manager standing there didnt say anything. We sat down had our icecream. We spent over $50 on icecream and drinks. We had pastries from another shop. They came and kicked us out. While we walked out, that curly hair server was saying some racist comments. I can't believe this spot. Please please please stay away from this business. You guys (DOLCE) should actually look for new servers and maybe a new manager or just quit the service business. TERRIBLE.

Preeti M.

Yelp
The waffle cone smells bring you in. It is a crowded, very touristy spot in the heart of North End. Ice cream is average, nothing to rave about. I think they are just located in a very convenient location and therefore everyone finds it easily. Tip: they only take cash. This review is for ice cream only, did not try the cannolis which did look good.

Sama C.

Yelp
House-made cannoli cream fillings with a variety to offer! Yes, numerous types of cannoli cream fillings are made here to stuff your choice cannoli as you order. Also, they make their own gelato's with many varieties to enjoy. FYI: CASH ONLY

Shona N.

Yelp
Stumbled into Dolce after having dinner down the street and looking for a sweet treat. I loved that you can choose your own cannoli shell and filling. My bf and I got a cannoli to share because they are pretty big. We each got a cup of gelato and loved it. This place is cash only. It's a cute and cozy shop with small tables to sit. I felt the service was friendly and good. The prices are absolutely reasonable.

Brian K.

Yelp
Definitely not the best gelato I've had. Not even close. We saw a bunch of people walking around with gelato so we figured we would try it. I still think about the gelato we had when we were in Italy so I was ready for something good. It just wasn't that awesome. More like regular ice cream, not with the punch of flavor or creaminess that you get with real italian gelato. Hard pass next time.

Carlotta C.

Yelp
I can't speak for the gelato which people seem to not be fans of, but we walked in this spot on a Saturday morning and had a wonderful breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised to hear everyone in there was speaking Italian, which reassured us about this place's quality. We each ordered an apricot cornettos (croissant). While they were more buttery than a conventional Italian croissant, the flavor and texture were very pleasant and there was a generous filling. The coffee and service were both also very good.

Molly M.

Yelp
Best gelato I have EVER had. EVER. we had the limoncello, strawberry, and grapefruit gelatos and were absolutely floored by how delicious and refreshing it was. Highly highly recommend!!!

Laura L.

Yelp
Ok I'll be honest - I didn't try the gelato and I don't care how it is. Why did this place win my heart?? Fresh baked cornetti with Nutella, *exactly* like the ones I had in the morning in Vietri Sul Mare while in Italy. The only issue is that this place is almost two hours away so I can't have one every day!! Delicious Nutella and pistachio - next time I'm having an espresso too. Cash only so go prepared and go early - the rest of the Nutella ones were gone when we went back after lunch.

Samantha W.

Yelp
Pizza was mid and burnt, and the staff was SO RUDE! Cash only, so they don't have to pay taxes. I wouldn't really recommend. Much better places to go on the north end.

Riley S.

Yelp
Dolce is one of those spots on Hanover that i've always noticed, but never tried until now. After grabbing dinner at Regina's, my boyfriend and I walked over to grab some Gelato. He got the classic, fruity, lemon. I stuck with my comfort of chocolate. It came out to $12 for both, but note, this place is cash only! Luckily, I had $11 of cash on me. The two women working were kind enough to accept the $11 since that is all I had. My boyfriend was thrilled to have the celtics game on while enjoying his gelato. Definitely a place to stop at after finishing dinner anywhere in the North End, but especially Trattoria ill Panino, as they're owned by the same individual!

Ov M.

Yelp
Worst customer service. The girls working at the counter do jot want to be there. They are rude, they lied that they don't have cones, they purposefully took a long time, etc. Never coming back.

Winter B.

Yelp
Some friends and I popped in here on a hot summer day and the gelato hit the spot. They also have cannolis. The people working were very friendly and it wasn't too crowded. Lots of flavors. The gelato was good not the best I have ever had though. It was 6$ for a pretty small serving. They had lots of tables and good air conditioning which was perfect since it was so hot outside.

Adina S.

Yelp
Really convenient spot to grab some gelato while in the North End. The pistachio flavor was really good. I tried a bite of my friend's mixed berry and wasn't as much of a fan. I appreciated how it was more of a stall than an actual shop because it made it faster to grab and go. The one down side is they're cash only!

Lisa G.

Yelp
Made an order for two cups of gelato, one slice of pizza and a pastry and they forgot to put the gelato in the bag. Got home 20 minutes later to find Alice of pizza and pastry in bag. Thought to ask but trusted they had everything in there since they gave me a big brown bag inside a plastic bag. They only take cash so I have no receipt. Gave the girl a $20 asked he to keep the change on a $17 dollar tab. Slice of pizza and pastry for $20 (ouch!!) Tried calling - the number on the website 617-720-4243 goes right into a message saying "call cannot be completed at this time, please call later." Either they have the phone off the hook... so disappointed - Called their sister restaurant Il Paninno's - days box is full - called Bricco - girl gave me the same number I tried calling. She didn't apologize for bad service nor did she say, "let me check to see if I can get someone to go across the street (that's what I would have done (customer service)... Again, so disappointed. In sent message over Facebook link - hopefully they will get back to me.

Nicole A.

Yelp
Wonderful place! They were friendly. Fast and super accommodating to my crazy wild kids!!! They gave huge scoops They were reasonably priced And we thought the gelato was very tasty and not too sweet. Kiddos enjoyed for sure!! We thought it was creamy and yummy Would def recommend!!!

Steven Y.

Yelp
Disappointed with the service. One of the worker was extremely rude and gave us a lot of attitude. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. You shouldn't have to deal with such behavior.

Vivian C.

Yelp
We had their gelato and they were not good.. Just don't go unless you want to waste your money. They only take cash.

Dorothy Y.

Yelp
We wanted to get cannolis but didn't want to wait in line so stumbled across this without checking on yelp beforehand. I regret it. $6 for a cup (only one size?) with two flavors each Don't think there were any signs regarding size and price. You can only try three flavors (or was it two idr) Cash only I didn't bother asking for taste test after seeing that attitude. Maybe I wouldn't have ordered anything at all if I did. I didn't want to be a party pooper when the rest of friends ordered. I got half lime and half hazelnut. Forgot the exact flavors of what my friends got but: pistachio, mint, chocolate, lemon, raspberry, and something else. I tried them all and tl;dr very weak flavors. When gelato doesn't have as much fat as ice cream, it becomes difficult to retain flavors. That makes it even more necessary to use high quality concentrated ingredients. They store is poorly lit. It was bright and sunny outside but their storefront is narrow compared to the depth of the store which made inside darker. Also the back of the store had some people (owner, employees, friends??) watching soccer on TV. They screamed really loudly when something happened during the match and that was quite disturbing.

Andrea G.

Yelp
Very confused by the one star reviews. Got the berry gelato and it was incredibly creamy, flavorful, and delicious. The girl at the counter was nice too. We got a huge scoop in a cup that my husband and I were able to share.

Michelle H.

Yelp
"Best thing in the world" says my teenage daughter as she enjoys every Morse of her lemon gelato. Bakes good, cannolis, gelato, pizza all in one spot and all delicious!! I'm u

Vita P.

Yelp
Came here with a couple friends after dinner down the block. From the reviews here, looks like it's been changed to the name Dolce. Note that this place is CASH only. We were ready to pay until they told us and was a bit disappointed because there was no sign outside or inside that stated this so we had to run around the corner for cash from ATM. My cannoli was decent - the crust was firm and properly made, but the filling lacked a bit of sweet sugar taste. We were also scurried out by the staff as they were closing (10:00 pm). Staff seemed eager to close and get home. Gelato looked good, didn't have a chance to try.

Bruce D.

Yelp
Friendly, quick, service and great gelato! Choose from a tasty cone or bowl. Lots of choices and a build your own cannoli case!

Em B.

Yelp
Gelato for dessert after a filling a Italian dinner next door! We ordered vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate, and espresso to split. The flavors were delicious, but the texture was more on the icy side rather than creamy. Wasn't the best I've had, but it wasn't terrible either. Better luck next time!

Richard A.

Yelp
After a big meal I came here for dessert. The gelato was creamy but did not have a strong flavor. It is conveniently located near all the great Italian restaurants and has seating both inside and out. This is a cash only business.

Sarah C.

Yelp
very yummy gelato, the only thing is they don't give you more than one sample, and I didn't know that.
