Absolutely loved the retro vibe of this place, the walls are decorated with beautiful photos from 30 years ago that give it so much character. The house salad was fresh and delicious, and I ordered a custom-made pasta dish that turned out great. Service was excellent – our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Shai, the manager, was fantastic and made sure everything ran smoothly. You'll usually find him behind the counter, making sure everyone’s taken care of. Thanks to the whole team for an amazing dining experience. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Welcoming service and delicious food! The Caesar salad was phenomenal! It had a bite of garlic massaged into the lettuce. We had cheese plus pepperoni & cheese pizza. Crispy crust, great cheese pull and flavorful thin crust. My favorite since we've been visiting NYC. The canolli was lite and crisp, perfect! Julio and Subhangi were attentive servers and enjoyable people ☺️

Google
I absolutely loved it here! The food, service, atmosphere is very nice. Our server Daria sat us right away & was accommodating the entire time. We had an incident when the lid from the chili flake shaker fell off & all the flakes got on the pizza, they gave us another free of charge! Perfect for a week night slice or to catch up with friends.

Genuinely delicious Italian food. Had the penne vodka and was amazed by how genuinely good it was. Drinks were great and everything is very fairly priced, best pizza and Italian I have had in NYC.

An outstanding Italian restaurant that stands out from the rest. The service is nothing short of excellent, ensuring a memorable dining experience. I recommend the lasagna and pizza. CHELSEA, NY - Don Giovanni Ristorante has been serving up top-notch Italian cuisine for more than 20 years. They've seen the neighborhood transform from a quiet area into a bustling hub of dining and culture. Nestled in the heart of Chelsea's Art District, just a stone's throw away from the piers, The Highline, and more, they are conveniently located near all the hottest clubs, lounges, art galleries, and studios in the area. A trip to New York City wouldn't be complete without a visit to Don Giovanni's. . Their guests can't stop talking about their pizza - one of the best in the city - and the outstanding fettuccini. With its cozy atmosphere and attentive staff like Chris and Shiva, it's the perfect spot for events or a lovely dinner.

Ask for Julio. He made us the day. His service was amazing, and the food went above and beyond. The brick oven gives an incredible flavor better than Joe's Pizza. Kudos to all the team.

I really appreciate the friendly service (it's very important to me), the consistently clean environment, and the consistently delicious food 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼. It's amazing to think we've been enjoying meals here for over 12 years – time flies! We've had everything from lunch and dinner to dessert, wine, and coffee. Can't even count how many times we've dined here. Keep up the great work, guys! ❤️

Yelp
This is our neighborhood go-to place for pizza, which is made in a wood burning oven. The crust is perfect and the slices are the perfect thickness. No slices. Only pies. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Likely the best tomato and Alfredo sauce we have ever had. Out of all the places we tried on our trip, this was our favorite! Great atmosphere, amazing food, and impressive service from our waitress

Yelp
Delicous food! The bread was outstanding. We received the best service from our waiter Christian! We dined there on 7/5 & were treated like a king & queen! Everyone at the ristorante was so friendly & fun to be around! I will definitely be back! Thanks for the great experience to everyone there, especially Christian my fellow Polish friend!! Best waiter ever! From your friends in Minnesota! Love Kimi

Yelp
Had my birthday there in December 2024. Recommended by my friend and it was great! The pizza was the best and the rest of the food was delicious. Drinks were wonderful! Our waitress that served us was so nice.

Yelp
This neighborhood spot caught my eye because of their self-proclamation, "The Best Brick Oven Pizza in Town," which would be Chelsea. We ordered a large Margherita pizza and a small white pizza without bacon to go. As we waited outside for our order, the wait was not long at all. The pizza was nice and hot. Once we got home to dig into the thin crust pizzas, we realized they were decent but not the best I have had. It definitely looked fresh, but I had to chew and chew so much because it was a bit tough, especially when I got to the crust, which made me think it was not made as fresh as they said. The flavor is what saved the day for the Margarita pizza and the abundance of fresh arugula on the white pizza. I gotta give them props for good customer service. From the moment we entered, we were greeted promptly. The staff seemed in sync like a cohesive team, and the interior seating as well as outside seating was neat and clean. I especially respect that they wash off their side walk section. That type of maintenance is very important to me when considering where to eat.

Yelp
Slow service, especially for the city. Absolutely delicious food, but we ordered the burrata and the bread came out after we were almost finished with it. Pizza looked amazing although we did not order that. The drinks were perfectly made. They do have two separate bathrooms, but they are super duper tiny that I had to leave my purse at the table with my friend as there was no hook to hang it and literally no floor space. It's a great place and right next to an entrance to the high line, so great location. I liked their decor inside.

Yelp
Subhangi- was a sweet heart! She made me an espresso martini! Which was delicious. We ordered the sangria for happy hour, and that was amazing! For lunch, we had the arugula salad, the Barada appetizer, and for our main dish we had lobster ravioli. Everything was phenomenal however, the lobster ravioli was just al dente more than my personal liking. overall it was really great I feel like I was in Little Italy.

Yelp
This place is amazing with very authentic Italian food ! I've had the pasta with eggplant and the pizza which are both very delicious. I'm currently waiting with my man to eat the pizza we ordered with mushrooms now ! I'm super excited ! The ambiance is very chill and lighthearted with a relaxing vibe. I wish they had the calamari at this location though !

Yelp
Great service! Shiva was great and attentive. Food came out pretty fast and was delicious! Wished the bread was warmed and butter wasn't cold/solid. Not too busy and was cozy. Loved the music. Definitely will be coming back.

Yelp
Had stopped by for weekday dinner after work. Place is overpriced for food thats average. We had veg pizza and gorgonzola pasta. for $25 for pasta dish, it was but average. The pizza edges were almost burnt. Only plus was the house wine.

Yelp
Ordered the Penne with Vodka Sauce. Incredible quality, fast service, and lovely waitstaff/workers and cool art and decorations! Perfect for a casual dinner or a date night!

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place since it was located near the high line and I was in the mood for some Italian food. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I was very grateful that our server was able to sit 15 of us which was a huge party so they located us in their outside dining area. Our server was very friendly, got all of our orders right and did the best he could. He repeated back all the food and drink orders to make sure he had them right. As appetizers, we ordered 3 brick oven pizzas: margarita, meat lovers and one with arugula. They were all quite tasty. I ordered a lemon drop martini which was very good. When we got to the entree was where I got disappointed. I ordered their chicken Marsala with spaghetti. when I received the order, I noticed right away that the portion size was quite small. Once I tasted it, I didn't want to continue. The texture of the chicken was weird, the spaghetti was not al dente and the mushroom sauce was sweet. I have eaten severa chicken Marsalas in different restaurant and never had a sweet chicken Marsala. When I told the waiter that I did not like my meal, he immediately try to come to a solution which I greatly appreciated. He gave me an order of chicken Frances to go home which was very kind. When I tried it at home, I did not like the texture of the chicken once again but the lemon sauce was actually much better than the marsala sauce. Sadly, I will not be returning.

Yelp
Went here recently with my date and sat in the outdoor seating (it's heated very well). To go off my video (on IG) , one sip of the peach Margarita & I was like WHOA. That bartender knew what they were doing! The garlic knots...what more is there to say, then get them! The food was fresh and filling. One con is that I wish there was more pasta in the Broccoli Rusticana. Also that I asked for no peanuts in my Rusticana and I still got them. Regardless we both had a great time and I am definitely looking forward to going back!

Yelp
Walking by last week, decided to stop in for lunch. WOW! probably the best Chicken Parm I have every eaten. My wife had the pasta with clams and cannot say enough about how incredible it was. Our compliments to the chef!! Try this place. Richard & Jennifer

Yelp
After last night's experience I'm being generous with a two star review, which is mainly because the dinner prior to this was pretty good with amazing service and delicious food. That said, having had a great first experience, we decided to pop in for dinner have a very long day of work (for both of us). It was a Sunday night at 7:30 and it wasn't particularly busy, though it had a manageable number of guests. We sat inside where it was mostly empty. We ordered dinner. We were having the portebello mushroom salad and calamari appetizers and then splitting a pasta dish. We didn't want anything too heavy being so late in the day. After about 15 minutes or so the server, who was very nice, comes back to tell us that because the kitchen had takeout orders, it would be a minimum of 30 minutes to get our salad and calamari and probably 40 minutes or so before we'd get our pasta dish (penne and meatball). First, why did it take 15 minutes to tell us this, and it's a bit unacceptable that it would take 45 minutes minimum to get our salad and appetizer at a place that wasn't busy at 7:30 on a Sunday. Maybe they should tell guests this when they arrive, or shut down the take out orders until they get caught up. Given that it is far from a high-end restaurant where maybe they could justify such a wait, this was ridiculously inexcusable and just bad management and restaurant etiquette. This all could have been prevented if we had been told this at the get go or before they seated us. But 15-20 minutes after our orders were put in is just bad. My husband is a server at a restaurant that is busier and far more bougie and upscale than this, and they would be out of business if they ever operated like this. Really was wrong all the way around.

Yelp
We sat in the outside enclosure the other day for lunch. The service was fantastic. Between two waiters checking in on us and taking out orders it was great! We felt like we were VIP! Now for the food: He ordered the spaghetti and meatballs but he changed the pasta to penne. The sauce was absolutely delicious. I want to know if they sell it! The meatballs were very tender and the pasta was cooke to a perfect al dente. I got the Caprina Pizza - Goat cheese, Fig Spread, Pear, Truffle Oil and Arugula. Omg it was amazing!! The French sliced pears and fig spread! I couldn't believe how tasty this pie was. I don't usually finish personal pies but I did this one! We were given a couple of mini cannolis for dessert and they were delicious as well! Hands down the best authentic tasting Italian pizza and pasta we have had in a while. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
the food was delicous and was served quickly. The local looked really nice and cute and the Service was really good. The woman who served us was really nice and polite, I think her name was daria.

Alexander C.

Yelp
The food is excellent, had the Penne with Vodka, spaghetti carbonara and a few other dishes. The service is well.. not too bright, out waitresses messed up a few specifications to our order (same order x2) and when corrected, she gave us our order much later after we specifically cancelled one one them. Then, she says that that "mistake " dish is on the house, only to automatically charge 18% tip, which hen I wad about to tip more, along with a message. To me, I felt like they just charged me for the "on the house" dish. As for the place, it is beautiful and I enjoyed background. Other than the hiccup with the waitress, I would say that this place is really nice and I hope they find someone else soon.

Yelp
Service was primo, happy hour drinks phenomenal. The entire vibe made the visit worthwhile.

Yelp
Friend had recommended it to me , so I decided to check it out. Made a reservation for outdoor dining. Table was setup up when we got there. Our host(Nina) was amazing , she recommended few of there specialty dishes. We went with her options. Started off with Fresh Burrata , Mediterranean Salad and Fresh Oven hot Garlic Knots. This was just the appetizers, we were literally full of this. But had to try the Brick Oven Pizza everyone was raving about. Ordered the #6 Genovese Small and Penne Vodka !! Both were truly Delicious, had already decided what I am saving for Lunch next day. Ended the meal with the Special Homemade Tiramisu, which was delicious, I am actually craving it now writing about it Ambiance- 10/10 Outdoor Seating Service - 10/10 WiFi- Not Sure Parking - Street

Yelp
Just had a delicious meal here! We had the Genovese pizza and minestrone soup! Both were delicious, fresh and hit the spot on a cold autumn evening. The outdoor seating was cozy, well heated, and lit. Service was attentive and friendly; Shiva was an excellent server! Definitely would recommend to anyone in this area.

Yelp
Very cute and quaint in comfortable neighborhood. Nice servers. Chicken parm very good, lots of mozzarella and crunchy breading. Meatballs and pasta very good, home style. Great red sauce and homemade pasta. Very good house wine by the glass. Reasonable prices. Recommend!

Yelp
Chelsea is an awesome place in NYC, less touristy, more modern and less hectic. I sat in the outside patio in this restaurant and had a heater to stay warm. The ambience was very well thought of considering I was outside, I enjoyed the quietness of the place. The food was really good, I'm huge on pastas and I'm a fan of vodka sauce. I paired my pizza with a Pinot Grigio and thought it went great. The pizza was just simple but good, that's how I like my Neopolitan pizza. My pictures show the food we ordered for two people and that was enough for us. If I'm in the area I'd like to drop by again for more pizza and pasta.
google avatar

Jessy M.

Yelp
No wait time and seated quickly. Had the sangria paired with the rustica pizza and was so good and crispy crust. Food was delicious. Would return with the family. Staff was very friendly.

Yelp
You just can't go wrong! Food is delicious. Love the salad & Garlic knots!! so yummy.

Yelp
Trash. Gave this place 4 tries. Two pick ups and two sit down. They premake their pizza. I live 2 blocks away and for a party that I ordered 4 large pizzas for were ready before 2 orders of penne. And by the time I was home, cheese didn't even seem melted. Gave it another shot there. L pizza came out 15-20 min before penne, both horrible. $140 for 2 penne, 1 large pizza rustica, a glass of wine, 2 diet cokes and one guy couldn't even stomach the vodka sauce, the other just felt bad and hadn't eaten all day and our waiter disappeared so he just kept picking.... we all left disgusted and having to use the bathroom yet still hungry...
google avatar

Johanna B.

Yelp
Yikes, selecting this place for lunch when you're hungry was a huge mistake. After checking out The Vessel at Hudson Yards AND walking The Highline immersed in crowds, we decided to step off and find someplace to eat along 10th Avenue. Thats when Don Giovanni stepped in. I've been to their other location in the 40's and remember being satisfied but today's attempt to grab lunch was a hot mess. Service was slower than a turtle in a race. No fault of hers, the waitress was the only person working the dining room. Pizza and pasta were the highlights of the menu and we decided on pizza being forewarned it would be 15-20 minutes by the time we would be served. After all, most people were ordering pizza. Fine. They had some really good choices and I decided on the Genovese style made with green pepper, onion, fresh garlic, cheese and spinach. At $17.50, a small size was 4 slices but seemed satisfying. My friend chose the Californian. We each had a happy hour Rose wine ($6.00) as we waited. I think their Sunday Happy Hour sign on the chalkboard outside drew us in. As we waited and waited for our pizza and more than 20 minutes elapsed, we noticed many people at other tables leaving and some being told they weren't serving pizza any more. Overall, everything seemed odd. I asked a couple times what happened to our pizza and was told it would be ready in 2 minutes which really translated to more than an hour. Maybe it was the rush of people coming in due to the opening weekend of Hudson Yards, but maybe not. Our lunch turned into an early dinner. After an eternity, we finally got served. I really felt badly for the waitress bearing the brunt of all the complaints, but this was an utterly ridiculous experience. The waitress assured us that our drinks would be comped. Turns out, just one round was on the house. While the pizza was pretty good considering we were famished, it was a real headache to spend an entire afternoon waiting here. We weren't happy. I've had much better pizza elsewhere and if this is a sign of how their business is run on a given day, I'm very skeptical to return.
google avatar

Cara T.

Yelp
I live in the area and this is a go to takeout spot of mine! I like their pizza because the crust is thin but still a bit chewy. My friend and I always order the margherita pizza, which would be called plain cheese pizza most other places. I love the taste of the sauce and there is a good cheese to sauce ratio. We love this spot so much that when my friend comes over, I don't even ask where to order from. I know to order the margherita pie from here! I have also had their mozzarella sticks and their pear salad and both were great. I look forward to eating the pizza everytime I order from here! They continue to be my go-to for awesome pizza!
google avatar

Nicole I.

Yelp
My friends and I came here after the original restaurant we had in mind was closed for a private party. We were sat very quickly and outside. The food came out quickly and the portions were fairly large. I ordered baked ziti and it was pretty tasty and very cheesy. The restaurant was very accommodating in moving us inside when it started to downpour. Definitely a great little Italian place and I would recommend coming here if looking for a good place to eat in the area.

Joe M.

Yelp
I eat here all the time. Always pleasant atmosphere, relaxed never felt rushed. until today. There must be a new manager, making her presence known. Was anything but relaxing we were in and out, did not enjoy the new vibe. We will look in if that woman is on the premises we will likely choose another place to eat
google avatar

Susan D.

Yelp
Second time here and leaving completely satisfied once again! The team here provides great service and of course, quality food - pasta and sauce were cooked perfectly and cannolis were delicious. Many thanks to our server Chris for the prompt and excellent service during tonight's dinner. We will return!

Bri M.

Yelp
It was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I felt so bad bringing my friends from out of town here after we walked the High Line and needed a nearby place to sit for a drink and food that I ended up covering the check out of pure shame. The only "authentic Italian" aspect of this place is that they do not rely on repeat customers and bank off of tourists. One of the drinks ordered was so bad we sent it back. The sangria smelled like the fruit in it had been fermenting for days. Not a single empty dish was removed from the table throughout the meal, and we ended up having to stack everything and put it at the edge of the table, assuming the staff would see it and remove it, but our waitress simply said, "That will be helpful later" to which we were all in such shock by the entire experience that we couldn't help but laugh as if we were all in a shared fever dream. We asked for a copy of the receipt, and after waiting for what felt like an eternity, we received a letter-size paper with a photocopy of the waitress's handwritten check. Every single person at our table as worked in food service and are plenty versed in understanding the normal mishaps of the job but this experience was beyond disappointing, even for an obvious tourist trap.

Yelp
Best Italian food! First time back in NYC in a long time and stumbled upon this restaurant after going on a walk on the Highline in Chelsea. The spaghetti carbonara, gnocchi pesto, chicken Marsala, and cheese pizza were delicious. Our server was so calm and welcoming. Love this place!
google avatar

Garima G.

Yelp
What we got? Pesto gnocchi : this was creamy and actually delicious marinara gnocchi : this was average and pretty bland Pictures on insta look better tbh.
google avatar

Dan C.

Yelp
We were in need of a quick bite as we had a limited time window with our little boy to eat and get home. We stopped by Don G for a pizza. We sat outside and ordered a margherita pizza. It came out fairly quickly, almost surprisingly so. The pizza was pretty good. The crust was head and shoulders above typical NY slice spots. The sauce and cheese were good, but nothing special. The service was good. The server kept things moving quickly and we were on our way. I don't know that I would seek this place out specifically to go eat pizza, but it was definitely above average and if in the area, this would probably be the place to go for a solid meal.
google avatar

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Such a cute restaurant in the Chelsea area! It's cozy and old style. Food was very good! We got the specialty truffle pizza pie with prosciutto and arugula and the pasta with mushroom and truffle. The pasta was so delicious I didn't even get a chance to take a photo of it. They have a good happy hour - $5 certain wines which were very good as well! Great service and delicious food!
google avatar

Shelly S.

Yelp
I was craving pizza like no ones business today. I didn't want a run of the mill slice, I wanted something more sophisticated & savory. Glad I picked this place! What I loved most is how thin the pizza crust is. I had the Genovese and fresh garlic knots. Sat outside, bathroom is clean, all social distance guidelines are in place. I'll definitely come again.

Santiago G.

Yelp
Amazing, thanks Mo for the amazing service. Lovely pizza, great vibes, nice ambiance.

Asdar M.

Yelp
the food was grate nothing to complain , and about the service they were very attentive
google avatar

Jerry D.

Yelp
The food is pretty standard, but very tasty. The ambience is very casual and I like that. It's comfortable to bring just about anybody especially those who are budget conscious. You actually get your moneys worth which is unusual today. The service is pretty good, not elegant, but pretty good.

William M.

Yelp
Ordered a small pepperoni pizza and there were about 8 slices on the whole pie for about $20!!! Rip off!!

John L.

Yelp
Food and service is great. Very comfortable place to eat. As an Italian, it has my endorsement.
google avatar

Judy R.

Yelp
We were treated right away and the restaurant wasn't full. Service was good here for us. Started with the minestrone soup. It was very tasty but no noodles. Kind of disappointed. We ordered the chicken parm hero and it came with a salad. The chicken was a good size portion on a seeded large roll. It was good but not great. Chicken was tender, but Sauce is pretty plain. Roll did not hold up while eating. But was a good, fresh, & warm and yummy. We also ordered the Rustic pizza which was very fresh and hot with Homemade sausage. It was just plain not a big flavor with the sauce. I loved the crust! Was chewy and really good. We ordered a second cola and they don't do refills. Coffee is strong (which I like) and served with warm milk- like that! A nice brick oven pizza place.
google avatar

Seema S.

Yelp
Vodka pasta was ok, the limone pasta was also missing some flavor, the tiramisu was yummy though.
