The breakfast is rather basic. Nonetheless, it had a good flavor. The service can definitely improve.

🇸🇻 EL SALVADOR (via Eat the World Los Angeles) - If you have ever spent any time in El Salvador and Central America, away from the resorts, using public transportation and going to restaurants that local families patronize, walking into the back patio of Don Lencho will immediately bring back memories. While the (now unused) walk-up window in front speaks of California, there is no greater portal to the Pacific Coast of El Salvador than the dining area of this grilled fish specialist in South Los Angeles, just a block away from Harvard Park.

I drive all the way from the IE to come here. That’s all I gotta say. You have to try it. Or don’t, more for me! Love this place.

What happened to Don lencho? I been coming here for 20 years and today everything changed prices are outrageous I’m sooo disappointed the pupusas were horrible I think this place has.new owners I spend $50 in 8 pupusas the mojarra is $30 what the hell

The fish is well cook love the food But I will definitely invest a few $$$$to improve the issue with the flies everywhere Other than that this place is cool

This place has TERRIBLE customer service but the pupusas are amazing!! It's a love and hate thing but i been coming here for 20+ years so i'm a little addicted. You walk in sit down anywhere and wait until they come to you but it's a bit impossible so you have to flag someone down to get your order. They sell mojara frita, chorizo, pupusas, and carne asada; however there's no physical menu. I highly recommend getting the cheese because they are NOT stingy lol.

Ordered over the phone and yes they did get the right amount but no the right kind kind of pupusas. Due to making them in a rush for "my sake" I feel that they were off because both me and my partner were not feeling it. I appreciate the effort in rushing it out my order but maybe they need to work on communications within the staff to avoid any errors that may lead to bad tasting food or causing an illness.

Hole in the wall spot that my in laws put me onto. They've been coming here for years just for this fish and i see why. This split tilapia cooked over mesquite has been some of the best fish I had lately.

Been here a few times with my family. It's actually on of my Dad and Aunt's favorite places this part of town. The first time, I was a bit confused the exterior kind of looks like a restaurant but then you walk through the drive way to the back and you're transported to someone's mom and pop shop somewhere in Latin America. You know, the kind of place that looks like someone's backyard was converted to an eatery with tables, etc. Don't let that fool you though. Their pupusas, mojarra, tortillas and cuajadas are delicious and the portions are not that bad either as well also flavorful. Though sadly I'm not that much a fan of their Horchata (which is one of my favorite drinks) but you also fresh water drinks as well. Be prepared to battle a flies though as this is a/n (covered) outdoor place. Sometimes it takes longer than other times for an order to come out but that depends on how busy they are considering it's just a hole in the wall mom and pop place. I personally believe there are the best Pupusas in south L.A. and my dad would say they are the best Mojarra in south L.A.! Kudos to Don Lencho's.

The menu of this restaurant is very small, but it is very good. The people are always friendly with the customers. The only thing I would have to say about this place is that they take a little too long sometimes to give you your food, but it is so worth it.

Este lugar es muy caro por la calidad de Pupusa haz que hacen y el precio que las venden a $4.59 demasiado caro antes era bueno y el precio era económico pero ahora se mira como que si quieren hacer ricos muy rápidos y no les importa la clientela te recomiendo que busquen otros lugares gracias

Que mal servicio tienen. Fui a comprar una sopa y no traía nada de caldo me lo llenaron de pura panza y verdura. No le salió nada de caldo al vaso. Mas les recomiendo un lugar que se llama el Guanaquito. Ellos te ponen la verdura a lado y la sopa es 10 veces mejor que aquí. Además, las trabajadoras de Don Lencho son maleducados y no atienden bien a la clientela. Te dan mal actitud y muy mal servicio. Gracias pero no me quedaron ganas de regresar. Nunca jamás. Mejor vayan a comprar en El Guanaquito que queda en la Normandie.

Best place in town. Their pupusas, mojarra, tortillas and cuajadas are amazinnnnnnnnggggggggggggg!!!! I cannot wait to come back!

Good popusas. The juice or slaw was a bit spicy but not too spicy. They are open during COVID, you just have to walk through to the back and order there.

This is not your unique style of restaurant that is known for their grill fish. The restaurant itself its in a driveway of a house where they have set up tables. Do not let the appearance of the restaurant to steer you away because the food is great Parking: I parked across in the neighborhood street. I believe they had a small parking lot but it was full. Cleanliness: I hate flies and unfortunately they are everywhere during the summer time. This means that you have to eat your food while scaring the flies away. ugh! so annoying, but good thing that the tasty food makes up for it. Food: I got their grill Tilapia which brings a side of beans and two tortilla. The tortillas are Salvadoran which are about 1/4 inch thick, they are not like the thin tortillas that your buy at the market. I got to admit that the grill fish was amazing and the black beans with the tortilla complement it when you eating it.

Really slow service take for ever food took about 2. Hours I won't recommend to no body to come over here !!!!:(

Hands down the best pupusas in south LA, the portions are pretty big and the pupusas are flavorful. Whatever you do order TO-GO or else you'll be fighting with 50 flies who want a part of your delicious pupusas too, and the flies here are no joke they're huge!! I guess cause they eat well, lots of pupusas all day. And these flies have no fear they'll go right up to your plate damn near fly into your mouth. Other than that the food is great they have a lot of fresh fruit water, ambiance is shit this is literally a hole in the wall but you don't come here for the looks but for the authentic Salvadoran taste. If you're thinking of trying these delicious pupusas park in the back and order to go and enjoy elsewhere.

Very expensive literally charged extra for more incurtido when I ordered like 10 pupusas make it make sense 2$ for such a small bag I was so mad I just left but yeah not going back here

It's the third time I call to set some atole aside for me and they sell it. I drove 45 minutes just to get that and I get there and they had sold it. They should just say over the phone they won't hold it so I won't make the long drive for nothing

Loved loved the food here, I was recommended to this place by a couple of friends for the past years, I always hesitated to come, I live to far and wouldn't think it was going to be worth it. Boy was I wrong! This gem brought me memories of when i go to El Salvador. It kind felt like i was over there lol. The food, drinks, service and everything was great! Thank you.

Love the bean and cheese pupusas! The women are always friendly and patient with me while I try to order in verrrrrry broken Spanish. It's a true hidden gem!

So i heard about this place some time ago and was in the area and decided to try it. Like people say it's nit a fancy place but it's a good food place they grill the fish and meat over mesquite charcal that gives it that smokey flavor that when i ate the fish it reminded me of sitting by the beach back home . the carne adada is a full plate with rice beans and tortillas, the fish only comes with a small side of beans and tortillas . Overall i think it's descent food and tha service was very friendly and quick. Btw i also had the pupusa revuelta with was full of the good stuff. Horchata was ok a little too sweet for me.

First of all the customer service is horrible, we had to wait to be asked what we were going to order. Also the lady didn't greet us or offer us a menu. The lady who took our order had an attitude and second they didn't have Yuca or fresco de ensalada. The lady wasn't following covid 19 regulations and wasn't wearing a mask, yet customers are enforced to follow these regulations. She should have refused to give me service if she didn't want to take my order its not like I was coming in for free food. For that reason and reasons stated above I left and will never come to this place again.

The food is great when u order take out!!! Other than that is freaking gross when u dine-in Flies and trash everywhere not good for business

This was a new experience first of all you have to walk all the way in the driveway to order your food kinda weird but kool has a big grill and the type of food is fresh on the stop a bit pricey but good it's like home cooked meal

Food is good, but the only thing I don't like about this place is the customer service, there some employees that were rude with me when I was just asking if they have atol de elote, my dad also said buenas tardes and thanks and nobody said hi to us, we also waited almost an hour just for 2 plates of carne asada, and the food is getting more expensive.

I love their pupusas! I called for pickup, but the atmosphere is very El Salvador style lol! The ladies are nice and attentive! The order of platanos con frijol and crema are my kids favorite!

It was so good. Felt like I was in El Salvador. The pupusas are so savory and the sweet bread is delicious. I also tried the atole de elote and it had the perfect amount of sugar. Service was great and they are so kind and welcoming. The place was outside but clean and had a homey feel to it.

Food is delicious. Parking and service needs more attention. The prices are great for the food you get. They make the best pupusas!

The food is really good, very homemade style I love atole de elote, and their pescado asado(grilled fish) but they have a variety of things like pupusas, caldos, etc... my only complain is that they only take cash otherwise they would of gotten 5 stars from me. This is not your typical restaurant it's picnic tables and chairs on a covered patio but the food is delish!

Oh man I'm not Salvi but I've been around them most of my life. So I've tasted many pupusas and these are amazing! My mouth waters just to think of the cheese oozing out of the pupusa waiting to be drenched with salsa de tomate and some curtido. It has such a homy feeling ur eating outside like if ur in ur country what a nice feeling!

What happened? Their pupusas were my favorite but today I only received masa! I wasted money and 30 minutes waiting

This is the real deal , delicious Pupusas and the Mojarra asada it's the Bomb. Also the natural drinks are amazing. Bonus the atol de elote man...I always order to go. They have a parking lot in the back .

I ordered delivery around 8:30pm through postmates. Ordered a Mojarra and was highly disappointed. The fish was old, covered in grease and was obviously reheated not fresh !! The rice was hard and old as well. The 1 star is for the beans.

On our way home to Long beach we pulled off to get Mexican and was pleasantly surprised to discover an authentic Chicano eatery! I had the chorizo con huevos with papas, beans and tortillas. They combine the perfect balance of chorizo to egg ratio achieving that perfect tangy-spicy taste just the way my mom and Tias make! The beans are good but they could use less water and more bean meat to make the perfect refry. Their tortillas are better than any I've had in LA and Orange county. The papas were perfectly fried with old school seasoning. The horchata is on point because unlike most they don't put a ton of sugar and it's creamy! Also the portions were perfect not too much food. Thank goodness because the food is so good I would've eaten every bit no matter the amount. Loved it! Now I don't have to drive to Colton or San Diego to get a solid Chicano made cuisine!

If it's all about ambiance when you're out to eat, don't come to my neighborhood, but if it's good food you want, do I have a Salvadoreno for you. When you walk around the side of the building to where the seating is you'll notice a raggedy makeshift canopy, looking as if one good push on a pole will bring the entire ceiling down, along with an undoubtedly not up to code lighting stringer. You sit down at Costco folding chairs to a Costco folding table, careful to avoid one of the sporadic leaky ceiling spots, listening to salsa music in the background, or watching a soccer game near the corner TV while ordering. Someone in the City must be on the take, letting this place pass as a "restaurant." Then the food comes, and all is forgiven! Frijole con queso pupusas are Spectabulously tasty here. You can have a few of these along with corn tamles, while you wait for the fish to grill. Mojarra is what you come to get. The skin side has just the right amount of tasty char, and the inner flesh is cooked and seasoned perfectly. A side of vinegar slaw, beans, and lime are included to complement. Where? Normandie & 61st St.

I'm afraid to write a review for this place. I want to keep this place all to myself because it has the best pupusas I've ever had. It made me feel like I was in El Salvador everything is authentic even the decor. I ate pupusa de chicharon and it was sooooooooo yummmm. It was so yummy we forgot to pay and almost dined and dash. Dont do that though Don Lencho will hunt you down.

Awesome food, real Salvadorian taste i love it pupusas are great and the horchata marañon and chan frescos are very delicious and refreshing
