"Double Zero, a New York-based pizzeria and wine bar, opens at 163 Newbury St. in Boston’s Back Bay on Friday, July 9, the latest entry in the Boston area’s small — but growing — strictly vegan dining scene. The new Newbury Street restaurant serves pizzas with toppings like truffles and spicy vegan pepperoni, and there are gluten-free options available. In addition to pizza, Double Zero serves other Italian-inspired dishes, such as a pasta Bolognese made with a walnut and mushroom ragu and an eggplant parm with cashew mozzarella, rice mozzarella, and macadamia ricotta. To drink, the wine list features biodynamic selections, and there’s also a small collection of mostly local beers, ciders, and hard kombucha. Double Zero has communal seating and an open kitchen indoors, and there’s a patio for some classic Newbury Street people-watching. Delivery is also available via most major third-party platforms. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Best gluten free pizza I've ever had!! The crust was a perfect texture and even had a tad of yeast flavor, making it feel more authentic. We split 4 pizzas amongst 5 people and it was the right amount of food. My favorite was the truffle, and we also had the Bianca, pesto, and artichoke. The waitress was an interesting character but we had good service nonetheless. We didn't realize they only take reservations, but the restaurant was empty when we walked in so I think they made an exception. Overall just an amazing vegan and gluten free restaurant that was much more artisanal than a typical pizza pub.

Giving 1 star for vibe and ambiance. And 1 star for service. Music was a bit too loud, it was hard to hear each other. Design and atmosphere were nice as well as the service. Food was terrible. Definitely worst vegan restaurant I’ve been to. We’ve ordered Cesar salad and Pepperoni, both were disappointing. Pizza wasn’t cut and it was hard to eat, dough was so soft that it was impossible to hold a slice. The “pepperoni” was crunchy and flaky, it was falling of the pizza. Tasted terrible too. On top of that it had a sweet syrup on top, which was a bit confusing to my taste. On of the worst dinners that I had, sorry. Do not recommend.

My girlfriend and I, both longtime vegans, dined at this vegan pizzeria on Newbury street. We relished the easy going ambience and excellent music playing, old jazzy hits. We ordered the eggplant parmesan which was beyond fantastic and frankly tastebud-tingling! We highly recommend and would order this again. We also shared the bianca pizza which was a pie more suites for the mature palette with pickled veg and a 'plant yolk' derived from black salt drizzled on top. Although the highlight of the meal was the parmesan, the pizza was well prepared and beautifully presented. Our server was also attentive and friendly. It was an excellent establishment we would revisit and recommend to vegans and non vegans alike.

The staff were very friendly and clearly working hard. It was possible for us to get a table on a Saturday night at 7pm without a reservation. This restaurant sells vegan food only. The restaurant appeared understaffed with two cooks doing everything and two hosts/waitstaff for the whole restaurant. Double zero was out of several things like the truffle pizza and cacio pepe on their menu. All of the pizzas and calzones were soggy. The imitation meat products did not closely represent meat. The eggplant parm was good but somewhat burned. It took us a very long time to get water. It might be worth going back if with vegans or if the restaurant is able to fully staff in the future.

We absolutely loved our dinner, the Cabernet and the desserts!! We ordered the meatball calzone and the artichoke pizza. Both meals were outstanding. The Cabernet was silky smooth and the bottle was the perfect amount for the two of us to enjoy with dinner and desert. We ordered both desserts on the menu and they didn’t disappoint. Everything was delicious. The only small issue was the seating. There were long tables and we sat across from each other and right next to strangers. We prefer a bit more personal space.

It was my first vegan pizza in Boston. Being from Europe, the Double Zero crust has an almost perfect flavor of an Italian pizza. The place has a nice, a bit hipstery vibe, and while we were there the only thing odd was that they were blasting 80's hits a bit too loud for our taste, but other than that the ambience is really cozy and perfect for a quick sitdown with friends for some wine and pizza. We chose two different pizzas - artichoke and truffle. While artichoke was fantastic - the freshness of the ingredients with just right amount of sweetness and saltiness, the truffle we found to be a bit bland. It still tasted good, but definitely could be elevated. Overall - a tasty and recommendable find on otherwise pretty pricey Newbury St.

It is a classy basement level pizza place with a hint of fine & dine feel. A bit pricier than I normally pay for pizza, but all vegan food! My favorite is the fried eggplant. We ordered Margherita pizza, a creamy pasta and tiramisu. The pizza was a bit too salty & sour for my taste. Tiramisu with light whip, I couldn't really taste the coffee, and would not order again for 12 bucks.

Limited Vegan and Vegetarian options. The wine selection is great but the food was okay. They couldn't customize the pizzas so we had to stick with exactly what's on the menu which was frustrating as we couldn't try multiple pizzas or add few toppings.
