The Best Beignets in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"This French bakery and cafe offers a vast selection of pastries and baked goods, as well as sandwiches like le croque madame and a panini poulet. Douceur De France uses brioche dough for its beignets, giving the fried pastry a slightly rich taste and tender texture. Beignets are then sprinkled lightly with powdered sugar. There’s also a location in Marietta." - Beth McKibben

We had a lovely breakfast experience at this charming place with French cuisine. The overall atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service truly stood out. The woman who served us was very professional, attentive, and friendly. She even used a clever marketing touch and offered us a special kind of Dubai chocolate — something I’ve been dreaming of trying for a long time but couldn’t find anywhere in its authentic form. I’m genuinely grateful for that recommendation! The breakfasts were very fresh and satisfying. The salad, in particular, impressed me with how much fresh, vibrant greens it included — nothing wilted or sad-looking, just crisp and delicious. Everything we ordered tasted really, really good. The dessert selection was impressive, with a wide variety to choose from. While I can’t say that all the desserts were to my taste — some were a bit too sweet or just not memorable — I still appreciated the effort and creativity behind them. As for the Dubai chocolate — while I was thrilled to try it, I would personally love to experience it in dark chocolate next time. The milk version was a bit too sweet for me, and I felt like it overpowered the flavor of the filling, which is supposed to be the highlight. Overall, this is definitely a place worth visiting. We left satisfied and with a smile. While it might not be the best dessert experience I’ve ever had, the service, breakfast, and thoughtful touches make it a solid four-star spot in my book.

Peace

Tati is amazing! She is kind and so accommodating. The food is incredible. The environment is cozy and elegant. Back to Tati, she assisted me in the bakery after taking and serving my dine-in order. She offered recommendations based on answers provided to her questions. While the lovely cafe was busy, she was attentive and patient. Back to the food, I travel extensive distances for food and this establishment is worth the hour and a half drive. Authentic in cultural cuisine. Superb.

When I discovered there was a French bakery near me I had to go try it. I love French cuisine and a good almond croissant. We ordered the egg croissant, a sandwich and creme brûlée French toast. I told the server we wanted the French toast to come as a dessert to share after the savory food but literally within a few minutes after ordering they brought them. I was puzzled because our food wasn't ready yet. Took a minute from someone to come check on us but when they did I told them we wanted those to come after we have had our food, they were nice enough to make that happen and shortly after we were eating. The staff was welcoming, the food was good. I'll come back as I didn't buy any croissants to go.

Every time I return it’s a huge win for me and whoever I bring. The food is outstanding and the service exceeds expectations. Kristen was a service professional who balances careful attentiveness with meaningful conversation and Bella added to the theme with her attention to detail (dress and speaking French) as guests walked in. Will 100% be coming back thanks to our superb experience.

My guests and I celebrated my 75th birthday on Saturday. The staff members were genuinely friendly and timely from the moment we arrived, all 8 of us. The atmosphere provided a delightful backdrop for a cozy brunch. Service staff gave us ample service observing our conversation. Thank you so much for a delightful celebration!

Yelp
I pass by Douceur de France often and decided this morning that I would stop by for breakfast since they open bright and early at 7am. I entered at 7:05 am, so I'm positive that I was the first customer of the day. The staff was busy stocking the displays with their fresh pastries etc. so it did feel a little unorganized. I was able to finally get someone attention to ask for a menu where I could see the hot breakfast items. I decided to order a chai latte and the egg croissant with chicken sausage. The chai latte was not good, very weak and overly milky. I would not order their chai again. The egg croissant was AMAZING. Like, the croissant itself was so flaky and buttery - I'll definitely return for the croissant alone! Now, a HUGE PET PEEVE is when I'm charged a different price than what the menu states. As you can see from the pictures attached, it says in the menu that to add chicken sausage to the egg croissant would be $2.00. The receipt shows where I was actually charged $3. UPDATE YOUR MENU!!! Therefore, I've docked a star because of the price discrepancies and the chai latte. However, I do admit that the croissant is PHENOMENAL and if I was basing my review off of that alone they would have received 5 stars.

Yelp
This is the spot for the most delightful French lunch. It's so simple and honestly guilt free being just the right amount of food. And if you have room, why not load up on a box of pastries to go? The macarons are amazingly decadent. I admit, from time to time I'll give into a big grocery store chain's version of macarons and think "hey, these are good enough" and "what a steal of a price". But, after biting into a Douceur De France macaron I remember how macarons should taste and why they come with that pricey tag. It's so, so worth it. The texture, the flavors all packed into one itty bitty bite. I will edit this review after the next visit as my soup and sandwich are just not enough! The desserts must be represented! Everything is so magically and beautifully crafted, with delicious flavor to boost.

Yelp
It's been a while since my last visit to Douceur de France, so I decided to stop by this morning for a few treats. One of my all-time favorites is the vanilla éclair. I picked one up and set it aside, planning to enjoy it on my way to work. However, it had been quite some time since my last visit, and I immediately noticed that the éclairs didn't look as I remembered them. Initially, their flat appearance caught my eye, but what truly disappointed me was realizing they had been frozen. The gritty texture of the freezer-burnt pastry cream was a clear giveaway, accompanied by unmistakable ice crystals. It was quite disheartening, especially since this had been one of my favorite pastries from here. What happened to the silky cream and the fluffy dough that I loved? Not all was lost, however. The molasses cookies are flipping phenomenal. I also picked up a few savory items, including a ham and cheese croissant, which was not a showstopper, but it served its purpose. Overall, the customer service is great, and the staff was super friendly. Please bring back the quality that this place was known for. Thanks!

Yelp
Great local vibe here. You can tell that there are many repeat customers who enjoy what Douceur de France has to offer...with the cafe in front and the lively restaurant spread across two rooms. Decor is decidedly French with some "market" items to boot. Everyone was quite friendly and willing to answer relevant questions. Happy with the service in that regard. We got a couple standard items: yogurt and granola parfait - as well as pesto omelette. The parfait was good...nothing spectacular...but very much hit the spot with a reasonable portion size. The omelette was decent as well, though I was quite disappointed with a misleading description. I was expecting pesto per the menu. Instead, I got some oddball pesto cream with a remarkably different taste and texture. It wasn't bad, but it literally was not pesto, and I would not have ordered it I knew that it was going to be a cream sauce.

Yelp
How can you pass up a high-quality bakery? There were so many different goodies small and big (though much of the selections were a bit expensive). I grabbed a cinnamon twist and apple turnover. But they were wonderful, the layers were so flaky and crisp. The fillings were tasty but not overpowering of the delicate dough.

Yelp
Eight of us enjoyed a family brunch on a Friday morning as we were in Marietta for a weekend wedding. The place is very unassuming, slightly set back on a busy thoroughfare. Still, even choosing to dine outside (because the late September Georgia weather was so spectacular), the proximity to suburban traffic didn't bother us. We had no wait, but imagine it's a completely different situation over the weekend. The bakery alone would be an enormous draw for me if this were in our neighborhood. Our meals were delicious - and if you can ensure that one of their fabulous pastries is part of your meal, you can't go wrong. Our palates and moods were varied, but I can vouch for everything we ordered to be very food as we passed around and tasted one another's dishes. That included fried egg BLTs (on their amazing croissants), grown-up grilled cheese sandwiches, savory crepes, a chicken salad croissant, chocolate croissants, a pain suisse, Caesar salads, and even a side of Brussels sprouts. You can see we're a hungry and taste-wise, diverse group. Bloody Marys, regular lattes, and white chocolate and white chocolate pumpkin lattes were delicious, and Americano coffees were enjoyed, as well. Our servers were polite, helpful, and clearly enjoyed our fun-loving bunch, as we hadn't been together in a while. I'd highly recommend a visit to Douceur de France to fall in love with their baked goods - we did!

Yelp
The pastries are amazing, including a heavenly almond croissant. Went for lunch for the first time and very much enjoyed all the dishes we had.

Yelp
Always one of my favorite breakfast spots. I do really enjoy the change up of the menu from time to time. The specials are always great. The desserts/pastries are the reason I keep coming back. Such fresh tasting food and great staff.

Yelp
Went to France in October 2023. I have been looking for a bakery that may come close to some of the deliciousness I experienced. Well, this is close, very, very close!!!!

Yelp
The French bakery has changed owners and it is not the same as it used to be! My family went for breakfast this week and most of us ordered quiche with roasted potatoes. The quiche is very different than it used to be. My brother turned to me and asked "Didn't this used to have more in it?" because the quiche with ham barely had any ham in it. I ordered roasted potatoes with my quiche and everyone at our table asked for the roasted potatoes to be well done/crispy. All of our roasted potatoes were cold and not done at all. The roasted potatoes were different than they used to be. This time they were cold and lacked the seasoning they used to have. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. This used to be be a must go to place in Marietta for my family and now we feel like it is not worth it anymore because the quality has declined significantly since the change in ownership. I would honestly skip it. If you absolutely wanted to try it, get some bakery items at the counter. They are cheaper and significantly better.

Yelp
Exceptionally delicious food Add in a great and this is definitely a place to check out worth the truck from downtown Atlanta. ¡¡¡Tres Bonne!!! #DoThisASAP

Yelp
This is a comfortable restaurant and bakery with delicious, simple food at reasonable prices. We came in around 1PM and there were a ton of tables open. The Brussel sprouts were so delicious and I have never had such good hollandaise sauce- lemony and herby! My favorite item was actually a takeaway order...an almond, chocolate croissant. Buy some to-go, pop it in your toaster, and it's the crispiest yet softest, carmelized, flaky croissant with layers of dark chocolate and almond paste. So crazy good. I would definitely come back and also try the closer Roswell location.

Yelp
Following Easter Sunday service I wanted to treat myself to a late breakfast. I jumped on Yelp to find a place that I had bookmarked but have not tried yet. This wonderful French cafe won! The cafe is located on a corner with a decent sized parking lot. However, it was practically full when I arrived around 10:30am on a Sunday. I think it's.m a testament to how amazing this place is. I was immediately greeted by the host and seated in a corner. Dillon came over quickly and introduced himself! Dillon I is the real reason this restaurant is getting 5 stars! The service he provided is the best I have had in years! I have been to 5 star restaurants and not treated as well as I was by Dillon! He deserves a raise! Regarding the food, I opted for the smoked salmon tartin. All of their menu items are served with a side choice. I opted for the side of fruit. An example of Dillons superior service, he advised me of the exact fruit that would come in that side! I have never had that happen before. He noted that some people don't like melons so I he likes to let guests know what they are getting! You can tell that he wants his customers to be happy! The food came out quickly. Dillon came over to ask if everything looked ok and if I needed anything! That Dillon-- providing recommendable service and I LOVE it!! The tartin was a large size and honestly very filling. While my meal was good, it was nothing that I would have to have again. On my next return I will try another item. I think the bread was a little too thick for my preference. I also had a cappuccino with almond milk. I also opted for a cookie on my departure. Overall, this is a cute cafe to check out! While the food was decent the service was A plus and is the reason I look forward to returning.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place!! Every time I pass through Atlanta I stop at the Marietta location to get my croissant fix. They have everything sweet and savory you might imagine: ham and cheese croissants, chocolate croissants, almond croissants, butter croissants, macaroons, fruit tarts, fresh baguettes, the list is endless!! Not only to they have pastries but the serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also have an outdoor patio area that is pet friendly, so be sure to bring your fur babies with you! If you find yourself anywhere close, I highly recommend you stop by here as this has become a favorite of mine in the area. Now, if only they'd bring one to Knoxville TN, I'd be in heaven! I hope you love this little place as much as I do! Cheers and Enjoy!!

Yelp
Met some girlfriends of mine for Brunch way back in May here. I hardly ever make it over by the Marietta Square. This one isn't far from the main area, but I did notice it was off a bike path. Good thing too bc this place can get quite busy and there isn't much parking. I chose a breakfast sandwich and a hot tea. It sounds like they had a different ordering pattern from before. I think bc my friends already were delivered their food I actually needed my own number. I'm sure the process is moving smoothly now. After we all finished eating my friend Shelly went back to the front counter and picked out a few deserts for us to share. They were all delicious. Everyones meal was yummy!! I almost forgot about this lil bakery until I was scrolling through old photos today. I'll have to make sure to stop back in. Mmm...

Yelp
Failing on my Yelper duties, because I have definitely been here a couple of times, but have yet to write a review over the years. As far as I am aware this is one of the few, if only, French restaurants West of ATL. I work right down the street and always come through during the winter for some of their mason jar soups. From what I can tell they change. Pumpkin is probably my favorite. Most recently I went with a friend and ate at a table for the first time. There is plenty of seating, even next to the kitchen, which is actually where we were seated, but it was nice. Some of the seating is intimate, so if you are trying to have a private conversation, you may have to say something before you are seated, otherwise get ready to know your neighbor. I had the truffle latte, and the savory crepe, which I did not even know was a thing. I got hashbrowns as a side, which comes out in a ballish patty, different, but very good. My friend got a beget sandwich with a side of fruit. Together everything was about $35, which to me was not bad, and that's including her latte. Even though they have a limited menu, it is not limited in terms of what you can try, and the bakery? Don't get me started; danishes galore!

Yelp
I love this place! Delicious pastries and excellent coffee. Always super friendly staff. If you have time, stay for breakfast; if not, take a box of baked goods home.

Yelp
Many things to choose from here at this delightful French restaurant and bakery. Make a stop here and you will be happy you did!

Yelp
Amazing service, food, and authentic ambiance. DO NOT believe the bad reviews. This place is hands down the best French restaurant in Marietta. The people are so personable, the food is made well every time, and it tastes very authentic. 10/10 you should visit today
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered to go the apricot tart, which was sweet and a great treat for breakfast! They also had a wheat sourdough bread we bought. They have a variety of French pastries. The ambiance is quite busy over the weekends!
google avatar

Yelp
The atmosphere is very cute both inside and outside. I had their chai latte and one of the bakery items (a spiral sugar coated thing). Both really good, especially that bakery item tasted pretty fresh and buttery flavorful. The service was great- so kind and friendly. This is going to be a regular spot for me.
google avatar

Moray J.

Yelp
This place was amazing. The food was good and fresh. The service was amazing. I wouldn't recommend for big group because it more of a cafe type setting. It is worth the wait if you have to wait a few minutes through everything is sooo good!
google avatar

Yelp
While staying in Marietta for the night, I had to look up places to eat for breakfast. This place caught my wife's eye- mainly because she loves French goodies. She ordered crepes and I ordered the brioche French toast. Both were amazing! I went to pick up and was a little overwhelmed with all the goodies! I wish I would had more time to check out the baked goods! I def would had brought some home from our trip. So delicious! If we ever stay in the area again, I will expect to make a trip! 10/10!
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
This is a great bakery serving some classic French pastries. They get pretty busy throughout the morning but there's a good amount of seating inside and some outside as well. Everything tasted authentic and was really flavorful. The place gave a really nice homey vibe to it!
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Oh what a wonderful place it is! Staff was patient as I hung around after my meal. Never did I feel rushed. Emily was my server. She was kind, made recommendations, and was very attentive. I ate a cup of tomato soup and Le Croque Monsieur, both were delicious and fresh. I had the bottomless mimosa as I read a book. I ordered a fresh loaf of sourdough bread and an assortment of macaroons to go. I plan to come back and get the crème brûlée French toast and som ham and cheese croissants that blow Starbucks out of the water and make you wonder what you have been doing with your life! I highly recommend this spot to dine and live your best life.

Yelp
1/5/2024: I see from Facebook that you are bringing back Luc's recipes including the Frazier. Pretty rich since your original story was strawberries are no good at this time of year. Update: 1/6/2024... well it seems the idiots that tried and succeeded in ruining this place over a year ago are gone. New chef, new attitude....and Luc is back consulting and bringing back the old recipes and favorites like the original Fraisier cake. The place was jumping today with no parking available and the staff was happy. Best of luck!

Yelp
This place was rather delightful for breakfast and coffee on our way out of town. Service was top notch food was delicious. Had the pesto omelette and tomato soup. To. Die. for.

Yelp
My wife and I driving into Marietta, GA this afternoon. As we entered the city we made a last second decision to have lunch at Douceur de France. This was not our first visit. We have dined there off and on in the past four years. For a very nice French Bakery and Cafe, the management and the staff have checked all of the required boxes. Especially with the bakery items and the items on the menu. My wife ordered the Quiche Lorraine and I opted for the Beef Beouguignon, we also order two glasses of Chablis. The only problem we had with ordering our food, was deciding from a very attractive list of entrees. Please note, you can always come back another visit here. Our server did an excellent job in both taking our order and checking in on us. We were surprised that the chef served us our entrees and he gave us a few seconds of his time to make sure we were satisfied with our entrees. Both entrees and our side dish (roasted brussels sprouts, carrots, and onions with a balsamic glaze) blew us away. Neither one of us left anything on our plates. For dessert we split a serving of their flan for their bakery. Again, there were not any crumbs left to scrap away. This place is well wort the stop to get a bakery treat or a meal (for there or to take out).

Yelp
Great place to have a sweet bread but also the food on the menu was amazing, diffrrent style what we are used to but food and bread is amazing. Great service and ambiance. Do t forget to have some bread to go !!!

Yelp
Somebody, please DO NOT stop me from coming into Doueceur de France because I LOVE IT HERE. The customer service is impeccable. The atmosphere is always friendly, clean and charged with the smell of deliciousness. If ever you want a taste of France, please eat your way through Doueceur de France. They will even speak a little French to you just for the complete authentic experience. Enjoy your freshly made pastry or savory dish with that French flare. Yummy!

Madalyn J.

Yelp
We came here for brunch on a Saturday and had the best experience. The food is absolutely incredible, we love that there is a dog friendly covered patio, and the bakery was amazing! We got the croque madame, eggs Benedict with salmon, and the crème brûlée French toast. We got a fruit tarte and a tiramisu from the bakery for dessert. Everything was absolutely incredible, and the prices were great too! This location also sells beer and wine which is cool! Service was great although they were busy which was impressive!
google avatar

Christie B.

Yelp
Although it's no longer owned by the Frenchmen, the recipes are still the same. The host we spoke with has been there for 6 years and was stellar at his knowledge of the pasties and his hospitality! Parking lot is tricky during peak traffic, but I love to grab breakfast and start my day the French way!

David S.

Yelp
Terrific brunch spot. Excellent french bakery as well to eat there or to take home. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Daniel N.

Yelp
The kitchen has gone way down hill. Lousy eggs Benedict, no foam cappuccino and mushy salad. A big grip since new owners took over. Service was fine but food made it a big fat 1 star loser. Don't go here.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Less than half of its former self! No longer the original owners nor the original prepared foods. Far cry from French cooking it's become basically an American deli. What used to be a Marietta gem is just another place. It's unfortunate but not the same at all.
google avatar

Big S.

Yelp
Not unexpectedly, it seems change has meant a turn down in consistency/quality for this former gem. Had breakfast a couple of days ago and service was slow even though there were few customers. Lots of people conversing in the kitchen but no one checking tables outside. Chocolate almond croissant today was light on chocolate and slightly over baked. Good, but not outstanding.

Jacqueline J.

Yelp
I went there and received a staled piece of white chocolate raspberry cake. Shame on them for tricking a senior.
google avatar

Austin H.

Yelp
I only visited the pastry shop when I went here. When you come in, you have the option of seeing a hostess, sitting down, and having an actual meal, but the other half of the restaurant is a pure bakery where you can browse many different products. They have a good selection and everything looks very fresh and handmade. I got a savory croissant, a Danish and an eclair. Maybe a little bit expensive but they are absolutely wonderful. They are much better than ones you typically get so I wouldn't say they miss on value. Both the croissant and the Danish had wonderful flaky and buttery texture. Your teeth just sank right into it. The eclair was very soft and fluffy with wonderful, smooth and creamy chocolate on top and they had a soft chocolate filling on the inside. It wasn't quite custardy but more creamy like a slightly softer icing. They were very friendly and was quick to get the items to pay and go. I thought it was lovely and I would certainly consider returning

Drew P. J.

Yelp
This place is great! Ellie was our server and she was really nice and helped start the heater when we were sitting outside.
google avatar

Yelp
Attentive and friendly service. Nice and clean. Excellent French toast with apple compote. Very nice bakery and French grocery items to go. Will return.
google avatar

Lillian P.

Yelp
This use to be one of my favorite French restaurants. Food was always amazing but it's changed. Overall the taste has gone down too. I know they changed management but they made a lot of changes including recipes. The baguettes still taste the same but they also no longer sell Brie to go with it.
google avatar

Kortney W.

Yelp
Amazing food "Okay" service. We got seated sooner than we thought but ended up waiting over an hour for our food to come out! Fortunately, the manager was very empathetic and made sure to make amends. This definitely helped the experience and thankfully so because we will definitely be back, despite the inconvenience. The food and overall atmosphere of Doucer de France is just that good! They have a small shop where you can buy fresh pastries and desserts and other French goodies. Did I mention the French toast and pot pie were delicious?!

Yelp
Bought a Whole Frasier 9" for a Birthday party yesterday. Its consist of Madeline Cake, Fresh Strawberries, White Chocolate Mousse, Strawberry Gelee - completely delicious! Quote: "... this is the most delicious cake I have ever tasted... ". They are only 4 years old but have tasted a lot of cake in their time :-)

Yelp
Authentic French bakery with delicious breakfast and baked goods! My Parisian husband approves!! Great almond croissant, crepe batter perfect flavor. Begniets also very delicious but slightly different from the NOLA one I've had in the past (no powdered sugar). Hashbrowns francaise were unique and yummy. Quiche was flavorful and fresh as well though probably my least favorite item we ordered. Our espresso drinks were also on point. My husband especially loved that they had some French grocery items you can't find elsewhere in the states (candies, cookies, drinks). We waited about 30 mins for an indoor table on a Saturday morning but our service was great! The signage for the pastry line vs sit down line could definetly be clearer as it was a bit unorganized getting on the wait list but otherwise we will definitely be back for our French pastry fix in Atlanta!

Yelp
A fun, leisurely spot with decent food and pastries. Coffee is meh, but otherwise enjoyable. Has some outside seating for good weather. View sucks.

Yelp
We stop here on our walk to the square every time. We always get coffee & pastries to go. The pastries are always delicious but service is a little slow, took over 10 minutes just to get my coffee.

Yelp
The only reason I am rating 4 stars instead of 5 is because my eggs were over-poached twice. One of them was still perfectly done, so it didn't mess up my meal. I would make sure to ask for a light poach if you like it super runny. Despite that, Douceur de France was amazing. The staff was very friendly. There was a little wait, but you can get pastries or coffee and look through the little market area while you wait. Everything here was so simple, yet so well done. The Eggs Ratatouille was fire (except one over poached egg)! Super tasty and seasoned perfectly. It's more of a stew than your typical ratatouille in the way it looks but delicious flavor. I've seen some feedback in other reviews that the potatoes were not good and I couldn't disagree more. They actually reminded us of roasted potatoes we ate in France. They aren't crunchy, but I don't think they are meant to be. Again, perfectly seasoned and so simple. Crepes were a star! The crepes themselves were light and fluffy and the fruit and chocolate filling were perfection. The side of bacon was regular bacon but well cooked - nothing special to report there. Salad was dressed with french vinaigrette which is my favorite! There were so many delicious things on the menu, so we will definitely be back to try more.

Yelp
I have driven by this and the Roswell location several times but never went in. Today a friend treated me for a favor I did. The place has quite a bit of parking and seemed larger than it looks. They have a bakery counter in front as you enter for those that want baked goods to go. Prices for many baked goods were $4.60 or around there so not cheap , but then cheap is almost a thing of the past They had a list to be seated. It was busy but it did not take all that long to be seated. I order the Tourte Au Poulet. Rather than put a crust like normal, the had it as a big round and put it over the top of the bowl. So when you touch it you see it is dry and sits on top. I'm no French food expert so I entered Tourte Au Poulet on google images to see if this is the norm and it appears not, so I guess their take on it. It is puff pastry so I dipped it in the liquid below. I probably broke all rules on how to eat French! The vibe is casual and some sit and linger and a few gobble and go. Overall a nice place.

Yelp
Always our favorite spot in Marietta. The best bread and macarons to be found! It's always busy but worth the wait each time. The French onion and tomato basil soups are awesome Togo or in.
