Had a fantastic dinner here! Service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the scallops with risotto—perfectly cooked—and the peach salad was a fresh, flavorful combo. But the real star was the crack pie… absolutely unforgettable. Great spot for a date night. Highly recommend!

This restaurant left me speechless after eating! I mean it’s almost impossible to describe how great this restaurant was. The bread we had was very light and fluffy and the jam preserve that went with it was awesome! The pork bites appetizer was also excellent and the onions and sauce parred well with it. We ordered the ribeye as our main course and wow, absolutely wow! Seasoned to perfection, the sides were perfection, and it was the perfect temperature we requested. To end this night we ordered the chocolate brookie with the ice cream. Best brookie I’ve ever eaten! Everything was delicious and Will our server described the menu so well that our mouth was watering as he was talking! We also met the GM and just felt welcomed by the whole team! Absolutely give them a try!

Everything was amazing. Food, Magnificent. Drinks, Tasty. Atmosphere, Pleasant. Bartender was cool, servers were attentive. The only thing I can possibly think to say negative, the booth seating could use a little cushion, it was pretty hard to sit comfortably on for awhile.. wouldn't stop me from coming back and just choosing a table or bar seating instead! Loved it there.

On a return trip from Florida, we decided to stay in Macon for the night. Based on excellent Google reviews we chose to give Dovetails a try and we are so glad we did. All regular tables were booked tonight, but we were able to get reservations for bar seating which was fine for us. A strawberry shrub with mezcal cocktail and a Boulevardier with double Rye whiskey were a great start to our evening. We decided to stick with the often recommended dishes including pork belly bites, deviled eggs, cornbread muffins, and scallops with pimento cheese risotto. All were fantastic! Everyone at the bar finished their meal with cracked pie served with salted caramel gelato and so did we. Such a sweet dessert but it was very balanced with the salted caramel. Delicious! Dovetail didn't disappoint.

I was taken to Dovetail for a Birthday Dinner and I was absolutely blown away by how amazing the food, service and atmosphere was. For me, this is the "you can't go to Macon unless you go to Dovetail" By the way... the Crack Pie is a staple and you just HAVE to try it. Trust me!

I went to Dovetail restaurant for dinner, with my husband, while we were on a romantic getaway in Macon, Georgia. Excellent service was provided by everyone we came across, and everyone we interacted with in the restaurant. Our waiter was amazing. The food was so delicious. We had the Roasted Cauliflower and Beet salad. In a larger portion, I could have had that as a meal. We had a trout entree which was prepared so well, and served hot The fish was tender and tasty. The atmosphere was elegant. I would definitely eat there again when we are next in Macon.

We had a fabulous dinner at Dovetail. Our server, Trinity was excellent. The food was FRESH, beautifully prepared and presented, and delicious. We will definitely drive out of our way when traveling just to eat here again. The scallops risotto with pork belly bites and the peach burratta were spectacular.

When we are driving from FL to CO, we make it a point to end the first day's journey in Macon simply so that we can eat at the Dovetail. This visit certainly did not disappoint. We sat at the bar where Russ the bartender took excellent care of us. The Dovetail seems to specialize in classic foods with a twist. The deviled eggs were a great appetizer, which we followed with a pork chop for me and scallops for my wife. The pork chops were topped with a pineapple and mustard sauce. What andinteresting sweet, piquant taste that nicely complemented the pork. The scallops were tender and perfectly cooked and were served over a pimento cheese risotto, a yummy southern twist to a classic Italian dish. We finished with a scoop each of bay leaf and salted caramel ice cream. The bay leaf was aromatic and herbal, while the salted caramel was salt forward. Both were excellent but unexpected takes on ice cream. We are already looking forward to our next visit to the Dovetail.

Stopped in for dinner. I was happy to see the sign in the Rookery because I was lost in the location. This is reached by climbing stairs, so he prepared no elevator. They have a farm to table concept with a select menu. I ordered the burger 8/10, so it was flavorful juicy and seasoned. And the fries had some nice seasoning on them. My friend got the chicken she advised it was fried nicely. 6/10

Such a hidden gem in downtown Macon it's inside the hummingbird upstairs. When I want a lot of people around me I come here.

We are in town for my husband's work. He made a reservation here a month ago and THANK YOU FOOD GODS he did!!! Service TOP NOTCH~Food AMAZING!!! Drinks ~ Paloma mmmm and blue moon then Started with deviled eggs~farm fresh salad ~ added the homemade bread, after we saw someone else order it, with peach butter orgasmic heaven ~ followed by the best scallops we have ever had over risotto with bits of pork belly~SHUT UP! Then shared the fillet mignon with mashed potatoes and spinach and a bacon vinaigrette. Drum roll please .... You MUST order the crack pie with toffee to die for! Amazing place! We loved it so much we came 2 nights in a row. Russ is an amazing bartender and made great drinks! The food was to die for. We tried about 6 things on the menu between the two nights and everything we tasted was amazing! Can't wait to return.

Definitely my favorite place in Macon. The food is super fresh and high quality. I make a stop in almost every time I'm in town. Have never had a bad meal: deviled eggs (with hot sauce), ribeye, burger, seasonal salads, the cracked pie (goes great with a nice sherry). The bourbon roster here is also amazing and affordable! They're also open the latest of other restaurants which is helpful when working late and still wanting a good meal/drink...

My husband and I dined here on a Friday night for our anniversary. We made reservations and arrived about 15 minutes early, but it took 20 minutes to find parking in the crowded bustling downtown Macon. We recently moved to Middle Georgia from Atlanta and was told that downtown Macon was the place to dine if we wanted good food and atmosphere. When we finally found the restaurant, we walked inside the pub downstairs and was told Dovetail was upstairs. As I walked up the stairs, it was obvious that I was entering a warm and inviting dining establishment. I loved the Rustic decor from the artwork to the unique lighting,it was an entire vibe. The hostess was friendly and wished us a happy anniversary upon arrival. We were seated immediately and then greeted by an amicable waitress who also congratulated us on our special day. We started off with drinks, I had the Naked and Famous, and my husband enjoyed the Chili Weather bourbon drink. Both concoctions were well crafted and complex in flavor. As an appetizer, we ordered the Brussel Sprouts, which were crispy and tasty, possibly the best I have ever had. My husband and I both chose to order the Scottish Salmon entree and we added the mac and cheese as a side to share. Our meals were delicious, everything on our plates paired well, and each bite tasted like a party was happening in my mouth. We had a lovely experience at Dovetail, the service and food were outstanding. Make sure you make reservations because the quaint dining area fills up fast as well as the bar.

Dovetail was recommended to us since we had a special occasion to celebrate. We were told the pickled veggies were excellent and the pimento cheese grits were life changers. We can tell you the pickled veggies are indeed excellent. The grits are very good- but maybe not life-changing. The other food we ordered was excellent as well. The servers were very knowledgeable and explained everything. We never felt like we were lacking anything. The food is southern comfort food that has been elevated in elegance and presentation. Almost like your southern grandma used to make; but better!

5 star service at this hidden gem in Macon, Georgia. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience starting with outstanding service from our waiter Seth, our delicious meals and awesome manager Kevin checking on us at the end of our meal. Kevin was extremely personable and we chatted for quite a while. We loved the deviled eggs appetizer before our craft salads and the ribeye special was melt in your mouth. The filet mignon was paired with a spinach salad side with warm bacon dressing that was outstanding. Highly recommended by B&B 1842 Inn. Did not disappoint!

Dovetail excels in every category. Their food is top notch and so are their cocktails. I never thought a chicken sandwich could be so good along with their French fries. A man next me was eating a prime steak and said it was better than any steak he has ever eaten in a steak house. Blythe, is the greatest server/ bartender!!! See you soon

Always love the service and ambiance of Dovetail. I had my last birthday dinner there and everything was amazing. Definitely a place to go to have local cuisine that you won't get anywhere else.

Had a date there last night. Service was very informative. I got the Dovetail Burger and it was the closest thing to a 5 Guys burger I've ever had outside of 5 Guys and was only $25. Great fries too!!!! Tasted the Porkchop also and it was amazing! Cheese plate was decent. Great formal dining.

My life is now ruined. :(. I have eaten grits my entire life but after trying the pimento cheese grits in the Veggie Platter, my life will never be the same. Sans all "salt" vs "sugar" battles, these grits are the creme de la creme of all of the grit wonder across the South and dare I say across the planet. I had never indulged in such Southern wondery in all of my life. I digress and will stop. Now my taste buds are all worked up and I'm too far to do anything about it. :( The rest of the platter - amazing. Drinks, ambiance, service - all top notch. These folks are well trained and pay attention to detail. I say this after eating at Michelin star restaurants all over the world. As out of towners, it was hard to find the location but do not give up. It's well worth the discovery.

We had the best dinner, drinks and server. Blythe is a keeper. Very informative, sweet and should take up modeling along with this job. She was amazing. The chef ‍ was top notch; the blends were spot on with my filet! Brian loved his flat steak and especially the drink and lemon dessert! The bartender done an amazing job on his speciality drink too. But most of all,,,deviled eggs just like my dear moms. Haven't had them just like that since she passed. Thank you. Great job GM for having a great crew! You are doing a fantastic job!

Visited Dovetail to celebrate my husbands birthday and this place did not disappoint! We were blown away by the customer service and the food. For starters we for the pick up and pork belly bites, both generous servings and really good. For my meal, I got the scallops and they were to die for! We will def be returning soon!

Superb service, food and atmosphere. A total win. So glad we ate here. After a couple of unfortunate dining-out experiences in the Macon area, the Dovetail gave us something positive to remember from our weekend there. We were served by the delightful Amelia who embodied the perfect combination of friendly demeanor and ability to chat effortlessly, knowledge of the restaurant's offerings and timely service. We had the peanut crusted sea bass and scallops and everything was delicious. The risotto served with the scallops was extraordinarily yummy! A particularly delightful discovery was one of their nonalcoholic beers: Untitled Art (brand) "Orange Peel Wit." Delicious!! A manager stopped by to chat at one point and she was equally friendly. We would look forward to eating at the Dovetail again if we were to visit Macon in the future.

Wanted to take my mom out somewhere super nice for her bday. They absolutely KNOCKED IT OUT THE PARK!!! The food was top notch, the service was top tier. The ambiance was elegant! Couldn't have asked for a better experience! I will say the lighting could be upgraded and maybe simplify the "sales pitch" the servers have to learn on the new specials. The room was rather loud n we had a hard time hearing not caring to hear the long drawn out explanations of each dish. I read specials on the chalk board walking in.. lol. But Even with a mouth full to recite and loud room to speak over our server Natalie did an OUTSTANDING job.. like she's literally the best server any restaurant owner could ever ask for! Mom LOVED her!! Overall 5-Star experience! We will most definitely be back!!

Loved the vibe as soon as I walked in. Bar was busy and full but had a seat available. I ordered a red wine, deviled eggs and filet. The eggs were AMAZING- but you have to add the Hot Chocolate Pepper sauce. OMG I wanted to take this home!! Not sure what happened but it took well over an hour for my filet to come out - after reminding them / asking where it was. I'll give the staff the benefit of the doubt because they were busy. But not too happy having to wait so long and I'm turn eat a steak so late. I will go back when in town. So many things on the menu and what others ordered that they are doing the food right.

My favorite place!!!! My boyfriend and I go to Dovetail all the time because I'm obsessed with the dirty martini. The best i've ever had... and i've had quite a lot. The bar tenders and wait staff are always SO kind and cool. The food is delicious. Highly recommend the pork belly for an appetizer (approved by my bf who lived in Japan for 6 yrs). My favorite entree is the Scallops. Can't recommend this place enough!!!

My mom moved to Macon about a year ago and every time I visit, I love spending time in downtown trying all the restaurants and bars. Last night in town so we stopped here and it might have been just enough to convince my husband to come back to Macon We had the deviled eggs, pork belly bites, Mac n cheese, pork chop, and mom and I shared the 16oz ribeye that came with mashed potatoes and broccolini. We kind of wanted a little bit of everything and nothing disappointed. They also had a seasonal hot sauce that was incredible! We had so many leftovers but still had to get dessert to go because everything we tried was just that good. Cocktails were also amazing. Hubby had an old fashioned, we both had an espresso martini after dinner and I had a grey goose martini with dinner. Proper cocktails and amazing food but I haven't even gotten to the service yet! Kristopher was our server and he was fantastic! Attentive, funny, personable and well versed on the menu. Amazing service, amazing food and cocktails and a great restaurant. 10/10 recommend.

My husband and I dined here for our anniversary and it did not disappoint! It was some of the best southern food we've had in a long time. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and had some good suggestions for us. The bread appetizer was absolutely delicious, as well as the rest of the meal. We even got a complimentary dessert for the special occasion. We will definitely be going back!

I had the smoked catfish dip (served cold) with chips which was very good, the small portion farm salad and the country captain and finished it off with the peanut butter pie. It was all very good!

My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and always enjoy our food. Most of the time we belly up to the bar and just order a few drinks and appetizers but tonight we decided to order some actual food off the menu. Let me first start off with giving props to Ashley, our bar server. She was excellent, worked with me on how I really enjoy my martini and then made a really great cocktail that was the special feature of the night. Tasted like a margarita but less tart. She was very professional and took great care of us at the bar. We started off with the cheese plate. I love that they tell you where the cheeses came from (usually local) and their jams are just to die for. It's a great start to getting your mouth ready for your meal. I ordered the small plate scallops and it came with pimento cheese risotto and bacon and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered the special features wagu ribeye and it came with crispy Brussels sprouts which I preferred over the Brussels sprouts in the balsamic vinaigrette sauce. He ordered the steak medium rare but as you can see, it's more like medium well, which I like prefer medium to medium well but it was even too done for me. We managed through it because it came with a gravy that helped with the flavor. Overall the meal was enjoyable and the service was excellent. We will still continue to stop in because overall we really enjoy our night at Dovetail. I like the ambiance of the darker lighting, giving you a more romantic and intimate feel. Our bill with two cocktails each, an appetizer, small plate, side dish, and the wagu steak was $185, which isn't bad for the quality food and service. If you are in the Macon area, stop by. For the price point it is well worth the meal and the ambiance.

We so enjoyed our delicious dinner at Dovetail in Macon! The decor was lovely, service attentive & knowledgeable. The food was so fresh, perfectly prepared & mouth watering. We had a delicious salad with fresh greens, beets, blue cheese & a perfect vinaigrette and opted for the veggie plate. Each element was unique, seasoned perfectly, cooked correctly & were great together. Shout out for the delicious cornbread & honey butter served with it. Topped off with an order of sweet potato pie! Kudos to the chefs!

Amazing food, great atmosphere. The bacon jam is delicious. I love that everything is sourced locally and very fresh. This place is phenomenal- highly recommend!

The Dovetail Burger was awesome, the fries were flavorful. Customer service was on point. If it's a date with the spouse the ambiance sets the atmosphere. I will be back!

The scallops were cooked to perfection and we are very picky about our seafood being from Charleston. The quail dish, wow, what a treat. Some nice crunchy sweet nuggets with the sweet potatoes. Service was great and the music was excellent.

Let me just start with, Dovetail is by far my favorite restaurant in Macon! This was our second visit in a month, and definitely plan on coming back again and again. We tried a couple of new dishes this time: Pork belly bites: the little bites of pork belly melt in your mouth! This starter has a complex flavor profile, there is a little heat, a little sweetness, and the onion adds a punchiness to the flavor. Georgia fresh salad: I always go for their fresh vegetables dishes, there is a natural sweetness to them and just taste special Grouper filet: the grits were creamy, the collards added a separate smoky flavor, and the lump crab made the whole dish feel even more decadent. I could eat the collards by themselves for every meal! Rib eye (dinner special): Probably one of the most enjoyable steaks we've had, even when comparing to steakhouses in NYC. The asparagus were great, lovely sweetness to them, and the risotto was perfectly al dente Also couldn't say no to the dessert, we ordered the chocolate pie and the cracked pie again. Be warned that the cracked pie is extremely addicting! Parking tip: they share valet services with the Downtown Grill if you are unable to find a metered parking spot. Menu tip: if there is something you want to try, try it! They update the menu pretty often and therefore you should get it while it is available! Definitely recommend making a reservation!

Excellent service and the meal was beautiful and delicious. We loved the location and vibe. We had drinks downstairs at Rookery beforehand & our table was ready on time. It was a perfect start to our evening before walking to Macon City Auditorium to see Buddy Guy in concert.

This is a small quaint restaurant upstairs from a cool pub. Their offerings are exquisite. The service was impeccable. I ordered simple and had their cheeseburger. Best burger I have ever eaten hands down. My coworker had the smoked round, also divine. Pre dinner cheese board was also excellent. This place cares about the quality of food and it shows. Highly recommend!

Trying to be Atlanta but on a Macon budget. Somewhat pretentious, tiny place trying to exude exclusivity. You'll most likely need a reservation since it is so small. Our waitress was super nice and knowledgeable about all of the food, she mostly left us alone possibly because she had a lot of tables, this could be good or bad depending on your perspective. The drink menu is pretty extensive and the dessert menu is adequate. The food menu seems sorta small it's mostly filled with appetizers and salads with a few entree selections. You can mix and match different sides with your entree and don't have to stick to whats on the menu. Portions size are good and prices are above chain restaurants but not unreasonable. After reading the reviews on Yelp, I had high expectations, that might play into my mediocre rating. We got the pork belly bites as an appetizer, it's listed as a small plate, it's definitely shareable between 3 or 4 people. It was good, I wouldn't call it amazing but it's something different that you don't see on every menu. Our reservation was at 6 pm, our entrees didn't arrive until after 7 pm even though the place was quite empty when we first arrived. For our entrees I got the pork chop and customized my sides. The pork chop was double thick bone(s) in and had like a honey mustardish glaze, it was enjoyable although not thoroughly cooked, I microwaved the leftovers once I got home to finish cooking it. Sides were asparagus, which was charred and tasty, and pimiento cheese grits. The grits were coarse ground and had a nice flavor. I wish the grits had more pimiento cheese and they needed salt. Overall I enjoyed everything that I got. My wife is picky and allergic to a lot of things so she just got the burger and fries. It's not a thick patty but more like 2 smashburger style patties. It was explained to us that the grind includes some nice cuts like tenderloin. It's tough to get regular burger toppings, not red tomatoes or regular dill pickles but they did have spicy pickles which weren't bad. The burger normally comes with a few unusual topping that my wife didn't get. She was promised that the burger would be juicy but unfortunately it was dry and very chewy, I tasted it and agree with her assessment. The manager discounted the burger since my wife was unsatisfied with it although we didn't ask for it. Reviews on yelp said the fries were the best they've ever had, meh, they were just fries, not great not bad. The manager offered us free dessert due to being unsatisfied with the burger. We declined. I will say the staff is super nice and accommodating. In summary, the food was decent, the prices were decent but nothing was amazing. I probably won't come back here. Their sister restaurant, The Rookery, which is located in the same building, has better food IMO and also has a lower price point.

My wife and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary at Dovetail. Service is always wonderful and the food was amazing. Dovetail never fails! Sorry I didn't get a pic of our dishes... we ate them too fast :)

Came back here for the 4th time now, but for brunch this time. As usual I was not disappointed my meal was excellent and the drinks were strong. The biscuits were amazing and the maple butter and pimiento cheese toppings were my favorite. My chicken and poached eggs were perfectly cooked on top of an English muffin with bacon jam. My husband, mom, and step dad had the breakfast burger which was really really good. Also, I don't know why, but Dovetails French fries are the best freaking fries ever. Anyway, we will be back again and soon lol.

Great place for a romantic date night! Elevated food + sophisticated staff + elegant decor equals an upscale dining experience like no other we'veexperiencedin the Macon area. From the duck to the veggie plate and addictive 'crack' pie, everything was uniquely delicious.

Upscale food, relaxed atmosphere. The burrata on sourdough, delicious! Quail with mulberry vinaigrette over brown rice risotto, I want more! But dinner was the lowly burger risen to new heights. Tomme cheese, oyster and lion's mane mushrooms, a buttery brioche bun. I'm in heaven!!! To top it off, the lemon bar with basil blueberry ice cream. Just a hint of basil, the dominate note is the blueberry and then you scoop through the creamy lemon bar and finish the scoop by going through the crisp, buttery crust. A perfect bite. Sweet but not cloying. I will come back any time I'm in Macon!

This hit all the marks. Anna was an excellent host. Great suggestions. Big part of a great dining experience is a strong server. Had the duck small plate along with table side of brussels. Duck was a great medium rare. Farro risotto and butternut squash puree were solid. Got a taste of perfectly prepared scallops along with pimento cheese risotto. What a dish. Finished it off with cracked pie. Chest pie with salted caramel ice cream. Oh my. Fantastic with Old Forrester Statesman. Good wine line. Outstanding cocktails and a deep whiskey selection very fairly priced. Wish I could take this place home with me.

We often eat at Dovetail a few times each month. Whether it is brunch or dinner, the food is always amazing. It is consistently delicious, and we often take out-of-town friends. The service; however, can be hit or miss. Some servers are more knowledgeable and attentive than others; however, the food more than makes up for it. Additionally, they are exceptionally prompt: from seating times, to drink service, to meal service. While we never feel rushed, the flow is always excellently timed.

Food is very fresh and always good quality. The service is typically friendly however they can seem a little rough. They change it up just enough to keep things fresh yet after a year and eating there a few times a month menu can get stale.

We stumbled upon this by walking into the place downstairs. I would venture to say that it's one of the best kept secrets of Macon. The service was exceptional. Now, if you are reading this you must get the cheese platter for the table appetizer. It's was amazing. I had the scallops and they were cooked to perfection. We are looking forward to being back in town to enjoy dinner again.
