Dr. Murphy's Food Hall - Review - Chicago - The Infatuation

"You can no longer pre-order Thanksgiving pies from Classic Cobbler, but you can still stop by and pick up treats (like apple or peach cobbler) from their stall in Dr. Murphy’s Food Hall. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Inside Dr. Murphy’s Food Hall in Chicago - Eater Chicago

"Dr. Murphy’s Food Hall, the massive new modern food court — the first food hall to debut in Chicago since the pandemic shutdown in March — opened Monday on the Near West Side inside the 106-year-old Cook County Hospital. The hall is part of the hospital’s $1 billion multiphase restoration plan, and a larger push for development in the Illinois Medical District." - Naomi Waxman

Dr. Murphy's Food Hall reminds me of a restaurant or foodie Pop up, offering the variety needed especially for individuals who can't decide on where and what to eat. We tried Lexington Betty Smokehouse for lunch. The brisket and pulled pork were tender and delicious, the tangy BBQ sauce added the perfect balance. The thin plastic fork cut through the brisket easily. The side of greens and macaroni added a whisper of heat. The staff were amazing, very patient and extremely pleasant...we even suggested maybe they consider adding fried green tomatoes to the menu. Wouldn't that kick up some excitement...wishful thinking. We also sampled the Crockett Cookies and ended up being split between the butter and peanut butter cookies so we grabbed one of each. Who wants to live with dessert regrets?? Not me. And our last stop was Classic Cobbler, yes more sweets, don't judge. I'm in love with anything lemon so naturally I tried the lemon cream pie and added the brownie walnut pie for later. It was recommended to warm it slightly and top it with some vanilla ice cream, can't wait. Our food experience for two at Dr. Murphy's Food Hall was about $55 and I left with some to enjoy later. We look forward to going back and trying the other restaurants such as the tamales and nom nom our next time around. Oh yeah forgot to mention, there's also a bar so if you need a cocktail they have you covered.

A fabulous use of the old Cook County Hospital. If you havent explored the UIC medical district your in for a surprise. DR Murphy specializes in unknown chefs, giving them a chance. The food chooses are excellent and it is a welcome difference from fast food chains. I had Lexingto Betty's Smokehouse barbecue and it was excellent

I finally had a chance to visit here after a friend recommended it, and I am definitely going to be visiting again! Today, I had Dimo’s pep 2.0 pizza🍕 (8 inch) and it was absolutely delicious! The food hall wasn’t completely filled with vendors yet, but I felt like the ones that are open are solidly good. They also have happy hour and other deals related to Apple Pay, so if you’re in the area do take advantage of them 🥰

So you are going to a cafeteria or food court in the hospital or nearby the hospital. Would you expect a good food? Most don't. This one defies such an expectation and gives us a positive experience on your palate. You go in and you see various options ranging from pizza and sandwich to Nepalese food. Also there's fairly authentic Mexican option there too! So yes this is one hidden gem in the Illinois Medical District.

yummy! This review is for Jarabe Mexican Street Food. The Tacos are delicious, fresh and the handmade tortillas make it worth every penny. Cochinita Pibil and the Birria de Res were tender with the right amount of crunch. Go easy on the hot sauce, it's 🔥fiery!

Food was very good at Kathmandu! Will definitely go back! The cook was also super nice and came to our table to see if the food was to our liking.

I appreciate food options when I simply cannot decide on what one item I want, and Dr. Murphy's Food Hall delivers on this every time. Maharani (Indian) is usually an easy choice for me, and I've enjoyed the momo stand (Nepalese) and the banh mi counter (Vietnamese). I still have to work my way around to the other stalls next (eg, plant-based empanadas, the bakery, Dimo's and the jerk restaurant).

Dr. Murphy's food court has a variety of foods. From tacos and burritos at Jarabe, plant-based empanadas at fons Empanadas, Vietnamese food, Indian food, Smokehouse BBQ brisket and smoked chicken to chicken and waffles at Brekkie & Bake Shop. Empanadas at fons Empanadas were 10/10!! Perfection!!
