Dragon Bing - Review - Lower East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"One of the newest vendors at The Market Line, Dragon Bing serves the Chinese bread stuffed with things like barbecued pork, garlic shrimp, or even just plain with a side of curry sauce. Every single option is under $10, and each of them make for a really hearty lunch (especially when combined with a brown sugar boba tea). The barbecued pork option is a standout that benefits from being served spicy (which is an option for every one of their bings) - the flaky bread does a great job soaking up all the flavors while not getting too soggy, and the sweet slices of pork that taste even better when tossed with a combo of spicy onions and peppers. photo credit: Alex Staniloff NYC Guide The Best Restaurants At Essex Market" - Carlo Mantuano

Google
The BBQ pork bing is soooo good, and lemon lime green tea is the best, not too sour, not too sweet, everything is perfect. Try it, you will not regret. (As a Taiwanese,I must say their bing pancake is authentic, but also very creative idea to put protein and veggies inside)

Google
Eat here at least once a week lately. Great fresh and crunchy snacks, and their teas are always refreshing. The lemon-lime is a personal favorite! They always nail the classic passion fruit green tea.

Google
Excellent bing sandwich, I got the BBQ pork. Made to order so it was hot and fresh. Flavors were good, just a little bit too much sauce but otherwise delicious. Broad menu of other bites and beverages. Located bottom floor of Essex food market. Enjoy!

Google
I originally had the beef bulgogi bing here and it was a great value for the quality of the food (in NY at least). The “bing” is wonderfully crunchy, layered, and buttery. Think a flatter croissant. They include a good amount of meat inside too which is always appreciated. That was $8 The $6 classic bing with their chicken curry (they just say curry, I was pleasantly surprised to find chicken in it) is also a great value. They pair very well with each other. I came back because I was in the area and was definitely glad I did.

Google
Not a bad place for lunch. A bit pricy but the food is tasty. I got a Korean beef sandwich and fries and Thai iced tea. The beef was ok, the marinade tasted good. The fries were spiced curly fries and there was a good amount of them, which I liked. Unfortunately the sauce selection was very limited: just ketchup and hot sauce.

Google
I ordered the beef “hibachi noodles” and the noodles had very little flavor. It was not good at all for $16. Definitely not worth the price. The only redeeming quality was the beef which, to my surprise, was quite well seasoned compared to the noodle.

Google
Stopped in and really enjoyed a Beef Bulgogi Bing - kind of a scallion pancake wrapped around some beef deliciousness! Had a Thai Tea too - just right and not overly sweet. Recommend!

Jenny

Google
Wow, absolutely delicious. The Garlic Shrimp Bing was bursting with flavor and texture. I wish I lived closer, I would get it once a week. Definitely going back for more.

Yelp
I got the beef rice bento platter (came out in separate containers) as well as the bbq pork Bing sandwich. The Bing is definitely the way to go here - crispy deliciousness wrapping around the pork. The meat did slide down to the bottom so might want to distribute more evenly as you eat. Got the passion fruit green tea drink as well and it was good but too sweet for me. I wonder if you can ask them to adjust the sweetness.

Yelp
I was seeing a movie next door on a recent Saturday night and was happy to find Dragon Bing still open at 9 (a lot of vendors in the food hall aren't at that early hour on a weekend, which I don't get). I ordered the Garlic Shrimp Bing and I really enjoyed it. The wrap had lots of flavour, the garlic wasn't overpowering and there were a good number of shrimp. My only issue is with the prices the vendors are charging to be in the Market Line. But Dragon Bing is definitely worth a visit for fresh, delicious, authentic eats and friendly service. May they stay open even later.

Yelp
I came here for a quick lunch and got a Combo Meal for a bulgogi beef bing, fries and a Thai iced tea. The bulgogi beef bing was so flavorful and full of beef! The bing was so crispy. The Thai iced tea was perfect sweetness. They are tucked at a corner at the Market Line but not hard to find. I just found out they are closing at the end of this month - can't wait to hear about their new location and go there too!

Yelp
I stopped by for a quick bite on a weekday afternoon. The shop is on the bottom floor of Essex Market. I had the BBQ pork bing. It was served up quickly, hot and fresh. The scallion pancake was thin and perfectly crisp without cracking apart when bitten. The bbq pork filling was plentiful and delicious. It reminded me of boneless bbq spare ribs. I would definitely stop back when I'm in the area again.

Yelp
I live near Essex Market/the Market Line, so I've been making my way around all the options. Dragon Bing is the one I've returned to most so far! As others have mentioned, the prices are reasonable. A bing is about $8.50, and while it's on the smaller side if you're hungry, it'll get you most of the way there - and for under $10! The BBQ Pork bing is great, with a good amount of meat. The lettuce, onions, and bell pepper also help freshen it up. I've also gotten the bubble tea a couple times. They usually hand out samples of the lemon lime and thai tea near the register. The tea is really refreshing, especially on a hot summer day. The pearls themselves are a bit on the soft side, but they're still great. This is a perfect place to hit up for a cheap, simple meal that will still be totally satisfying.

Yelp
Cute kiosk downstairs at essex market $8 for huge portion of pop corn chicken! Soo delicious, crispy and flavorful Dumplings are delicious and crispy with a good filling and the sauce was very good

Yelp
It was past 7 pm; I had just gotten off work and was starving. Almost every stall in Essex Market was closed except Dragon Bing. In that moment, the bbq pork bing was one of the best things I'd eaten in a while.

Yelp
This place is in the Essex Market, bottom level in a small cute non busy area so it's easy to overlook but you won't want to. I got the teriyaki chicken Bing and a side of fries. I had never had a scallion pancake before, but this was an amazing introduction. It was flaky, crispy, and warm perfect "bread" for my "sandwich." The chicken was cooked perfectly and the mix of bok choy and other vegetables inside was an exciting delight. I have no pictures because I ate it all and I was really hungry, looking for a place to eat and charge my phone haha. Overall, I would recommend the teriyaki chicken Bing while they also have other options such as tofu and veggies for those who don't eat meat! Successful mission in Essex market, thank you guys so much and I hope to try more again and take pictures.

Yelp
Their combo deal is one of the best in the Market Line: $18 for a bing, tea and fries. I can't comment to the authenticity - it seems like the negative reviews are complaining it's not authentic - but it's damn delicious. I'm slowly working through their protein choices and I can't say I've had a bad one yet. The crispy chicken and beef bulgogi have been my favorites so far though!

Yelp
I wouldn't call the bings at Dragon Bing particularly authentic as they are not jianbings, and essentially is a wrap that uses a scallion pancake instead of a tortilla. Perfectly serviceable, though I thought the star of the show was their popcorn chicken ($8) which came in a heaping pile, piping hot and delicately seasoned with five spice. My friend and I also tried a sample of their lemon lime green tea ($6), fell in love, and ordered two. I believe it's a jasmine base but it's so refreshing and cooling, especially in contrast to the blisteringly hot popcorn chicken. We also split a chicken salad bowl ($16.50), which came with a side of the scallion pancake, half an avocado, and a generous portion of teriyaki chicken atop a bed of lettuce and tomatoes. Overall, it was a decent meal in Essex Market and one of the few options that was quick and easy and fresh.

Yelp
I stopped by Dragon Bing for lunch one day. It is located inside Essex Market on the lower level. I ordered the Bulgogi Beef Bing and a Passion Fruit Green Tea. It was so good! The Bulgogi Beef was juicy and rich in flavor. The bing (scallion pancake) was also nice and crispy. I would come back to try their other options. Definitely recommend the Bulgogi Beef Bing!

Yelp
Very flavorful quick bite. Love the fusion flavor of the scallion pancake with beef. Innovative idea for a sandwich. Recommend getting a refreshing lemon lime green tea too.

Yelp
Love going to the Essex Market and trying out new food places. This has been one of the places I have repeatedly gone to. They're very consistent from each time I have gone. The seasoning of the popcorn chicken is great, but I do wish they had something to make it spicy (just preference). Their bings with meat in them have always been good, but friends who got the veggies one did not enjoy theirs as much. The meat is well marinated and flavorful. I love the texture of the bing, meat, and veggies. It does look a little small, but they do pack the bing. If you're very hungry though I would recommend grabbing a second item.

Yelp
LOVE this place! pretty affordable, $17 for a bing, fries, and a drink with boba! fries are great for sharing with another person (maybe even 2)! the bing is spectacular, the addition of basil makes it perfect, and they put so much meat/seafood/tofu in it! the lemon lime green tea is definitely the best; we werent the biggest fans of the mango orange. the service here is so fast, and the worker today was SO sweet and friendly

Yelp
Came into Essex Market to look for something to eat. Not your traditional bing that you would see or that I have tried, so it's definitely a modern twist to the classic, which there isn't anything wrong with that. Instead of eggs, they use a scallion pancake as the wrap. Overall it was tasty and combo did fill me up. However, things did become loose and messy so be sure to expect that.

Yelp
If you're trying to eat healthy while on the LES, want to sit down at a table in reasonably peaceful comfort and have access to a clean bathroom, this place checks off all the boxes. Dragon Bing is a fast casual kiosk located downstairs at Essex Market in a little "food hall" area. I was apartment hunting with my sister and she really had to pee. "I know a great place!" I said brightly. If you go to Essex Market before the lunch rush (before 11:30am at least), it's easy to snag a table downstairs. I even had a chance to pop open my laptop and shoot off a work email. While we were resting and reviewing rental listings, my sister decided to treat me for lunch and since I eat a lot of salad nowadays, Dragon Bing was an easy choice. The price of my Grilled Salmon Salad Bowl was steep ($19.95), but I was mollified when I saw how huge the salad was with generous portions of grilled salmon swiped with teriyaki sauce and topped with bing (Chinese crepe). My sister ordered the Salad Bowl with Beef ($16.95) which was surprisingly cheaper than the salmon, but still generously portioned. I'm a salad savant - I am famous for my salads at potluck parties and make creative homemade entree salads everyday. I know my way around a salad bowl. Dragon Bing's salad was a very decently delicious choice.

Yelp
Flavor for both the pork and shrimp was just not there. I did not think the lettuce paired well with either wrap. the hot sauce provided made the wrap taste even worst.
google avatar

Jane P.

Yelp
We got the shrimp bing which came with a ton of tender and well cooked shrimp. It had a ton of toppings in it like vegetables which added a nice fresh crunch to the meal. We got it was the curry sauce. The curry sauce was really good, but next time I go here, I would get the regular bing because it was kind of hard trying to dip the curry sauce with the all the toppings in the bing. Everything kept falling out and it was super messy trying to eat it. The bing was perfectly cooked. It was crunchy but soft and crispy all at once! Loved this place and would definitely go back soon!
google avatar

Leah C.

Yelp
It looks the negative reviews are from people commenting on the authenticity of these Bings. As someone who had never previously had one and cannot comment on how authentic they are, I can only comment on the taste! I got the garlic shrimp bing, and it was really simple yet flavorful, the perfect little meal, filling without feeling heavy. I did expect more sauce to be on it because the sign at the counter that explains that a bing is best served with curry sauce, but I did see some hot sauce at the counter that I poured on top. There were some samples at the counter so I got to try a bit of the pop chicken and the Thai Iced Tea, both were worth ordering!
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
I got the chicken teriyaki Bing! It was so delicious, they were also giving out Thai tea and their lemonade samples, totally worth checking out!

D L.

Yelp
It's not a traditional Jianbing so let's just call it a pancake wrap. I didn't rate it poorly because it wasn't traditional, the food wasn't all that good. The flavors are okay, but the pancakes are so greasy it kills the meal. They should really try and get some of the grease off the pancakes before wrapping. Don't think I would be able to finish one if it weren't for the lettuce, onions (raw) & peppers. The crispy chicken was cooked well. It was still crispy & moist but not greasy like the wrap. BBQ pork was a tad on the sweeter side. Popcorn Chicken a little salty for my taste. Passion fruit green tea was a little too sweet. But it also had a very artificial taste (almost like a perfume) that was not too pleasant.

Yelp
This has to be my favorite scallion pancake in New York. It is so flaky and chewy with so many layers that it honestly reminds me of a good croissant. I tried the Bing (scallion pancake) with curry, the beef bulgolgi and the lemon lime tea. The curry sauce was rich and creamy, beef was so tender, I highly recommend this and would get it again! The drink was also really refreshing and had a really nice floral undertone to match the sweetness. I watched someone handshake all of the drinks to order! Overall, I would say check out this stall in the basement section of Essex, it's fair priced and delicious!
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
A bit pricey but considering the location and convenience of grabbing a bite prior or after a movie, it's not too bad. The Bentos were good, $17 for a beef and rice, comes with salad and soup. Came here for lunch before heading to the movies upstairs! The drink were good, I loved the lemonade.

Maya Y.

Yelp
The boba is great! The service is fast and the feel of the shop is better in Essex! Best boba!!!!
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
This is one of the vendors in the Essex Street Market, a Bing apparently is like a Chinese Sandwich....I wasn't sure what to try the Garlic Shrimp or the Beef Bulgogi Bing, the lady behind the counter told me the Bulgogi was the most popular...and I can see why...the dough was nice and crunchy and the beef was so soft and juicy, literally the juices were dripping so much needed like 10 napkins lolz....I legit could eat like 5 of these at once....I need to try the Garlic Shrimp next time...The filings are a twist on the traditional Bing but very tasty and creative.
google avatar

Jezz S.

Yelp
Right amount of chewy in the boba but tea taste like zero sugar was used in the making. I said I wanted the regular amount, specifically 100%, because I know some places have sugar levels for boba drinks. Speedy and nice service!
google avatar

Dani B.

Yelp
Awesome bing and salad. The dressing is light and delicious, and they give you a good amount of avocado. Super nice staff as well.
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
I don't get what this place is serving. I was expecting something like a jian bing, instead I got char siu wrapped in a scallion pancake. It's not like the sandwich was bad exactly, but it was very greasy with a bitter taste from the raw onion and salad. Will we ever get a great jian bing in Chinatown? Can these only be made properly by food trucks?
google avatar

Mars A.

Yelp
I love this spot. The shrimp bing is my go to or I'll do the rice bowl w/ shrimp, instead of the chicken I'll opt out and substitute it with avocado. The service is quick and everything is fresh. The boba teas are really good as well. I've had the Thai tea and the lemon boba.
google avatar

Martha L.

Yelp
One of the best bings I've had is right here! Mind you, I'm not a Bing connoisseur but they're so good! I have tried the BBQ Pork, Garlic Shrimp and the Chicken Teriyaki and they were all delicious. I have yet to try the Beef Bulgogi but it's on my list. Their Bing with Curry sauce is on point and their Thai Iced Tea too. All the sandwiches are very light and tasty, always with a touch of sweetness which I don't mind.

Mazie M.

Yelp
Crispy. Chicken. In a wrap. It will blow your gosh darn head off it's so good. The crispy chicken bing may be the best take on a chicken wrap/ sandwich I've ever had. It's simply phenomenal. And the wrap is more of a crepe with flaky crunchy and soft dough.
google avatar

Anisha P.

Yelp
Very disappointed with Dragon Bing. I grew up eating Bings and what I had received was an Indian/Malaysian paratha- no scallions or sesame seeds. The paratha was so greasy too ( I refuse to call it scallion pancakes due to the LACK of scallions lol). The only good thing about Dragon Bing was that the bulgogi beef and the teriyaki chicken pieces were very tender and well seasoned. I definitely felt a bit ripped off at the end of the experience.

Reyes C.

Yelp
I had the beef bulgogi bing for the first time and it was delicious. It's like a Chinese taco. I would definitely recommend it

Eva C.

Yelp
Always getting bubble tea here. Only bubble tea place in the market I believe! Wayyy too expensive though. About 7.81 for a passion fruit green tea with boba! At the small Asian bakery across the street it's 4.25. Good tea, nice staff, but liek every other place in the market, too expensive.
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
Came here for the garlic shrimp Bing and Thai iced tea. Ingredients tasted fresh and the cashier was friendly!

Smarter t.

Yelp
You have to try a bing. Better than any type of wrap you've ever had. Reasonably priced and portioned properly. Cant go wrong with this place!!

Patricia H.

Yelp
Absolutely addictive. My favorite place in Essex Market. Love the drinks too. The people who work there are so friendly, too.

Yesmine A.

Yelp
Brilliant food. I was craving something vegetarian and fried and oh boy did this place come THROUGH!! Literally, I got a very generous portion of fries, one of the best sandwiches I've had in New York with that had a fried tempura zucchini and to wash it all down a passion fruit tea (and it was a large size) FOR 17 DOLLARS!!! Worth every single penny.

Tim L.

Yelp
Never tried Bing before, ordered the bulgogi beef and bbq pork for my daughter and myself, it was delicious. Definitely go back again. Their curry sauce is also really good.
