"This counter-service restaurant made headlines for its giant soup dumpling. Do not order this. Instead, Drunken Dumpling happens to serve some delectable pan-fried shrimp and wood ear mushroom dumplings that’s more worth the visit. The shrimp is sweet and fresh, and the restaurant has a fair amount of seating for casual dining. Bonus: It’s open until midnight on Friday and Saturday, ideal for a late-night dumpling snack." - Eater Staff, Serena Dai

"Opened in September 2016, postcard-sized Drunken Dumpling is perhaps best known for selling a massive soup dumpling. But that Instagram-bait dish can be skipped; owner Yuan Lee and his chef-mother Qihui Guan also happen to serve a tight menu of more average-sized soup dumplings and pot stickers that are worth ordering. Try the crab soup dumplings or the shrimp with wood ear mushroom jiaozi. At under $12 for six, these dumplings cost more versions in Chinatown, but the ingredients here are reportedly thoughtfully sourced." - Serena Dai, Stefanie Tuder

Been wanting to try this place since seeing the video of their giant soup dumpling. I'll cut to the chase. The giant soup dumpling, albeit good, was not as satisfying as I wanted it to be. It proves some things do come in small packages. The proportion of soup to dumpling to meat is better left to it's original sized counterpart for the perfect dumpling ratio. We ordered a little bit of everything except for the green vegetarian dumplings which were sold out even tho we went at opening. We followed the recommendations provided to us by the gentleman taking my order and everything turned out great! We got shrimp, beef, the original soup dumplings and the giant soup dumplings. It was perfect for 3 people to share. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was great. They were patient with us and made sure everything was perfect for our Instagrammable needs. Would love to come back again if we're in the neighborhood. The original sized soup dumplings are my favorite.

The best soup dumplings in nyc! The soup and flavors are so fresh and the portions are so filling because there’s more soup than you’d get in Chinatown and their dumplings are huge! Friendly staff and great and fast service. I’d highly recommend if you’re around St. Marks/East Village to check it out!

I really want to like this place and say that it’s my go-to dumplings place. Unfortunately the texture of the dumpling skins are just too thick and without any finesses. These are what I had: 1) shrimps with ear wood dumpling (skin is so thick that I left half of the skins of each dumpling I consumed) 2) XL soup dumpling - cool dish, meat is tender and flavorful but again the dumpling skin especially the knotted top is too thick and just want throw it out there as we are now so attuned to the environment is to replace the straws with a thinner spoon so we can scoop the soup to drink and maybe replace the plate with one that has a curve under it to catch the soup and drink them later 3) pan fried pork bun - I loved this dish and the pork and soup that surrounds it are delicious but the skin is too thick.

The only con was the wait during peak hours, but it was worth the wait. The regular dumplings, soup dumplings, and pork buns were juicy. Be advise, they will be hot and juice will squish out. Overall, one of the best tasty dumpling in the city and juicy too.

This was hands down the best food experience in the city. Great service great dumplings! Our personal favorite was the Shrimp and Wood Mushrooms dumpling. Best dumpling spot in the city for a great price. Expect to spend around $12 per person before tax, drinks, tip.

Awesome! It's a small place but was definitely worth the wait. I enjoyed the Chicken and Cashew Pot Stickers, Soup Dumplings and the Pork and Chive Buns. Everything was delicious. No table service. You order at the counter, grab your utensils, and then sit where your food is brought to you. The waitress definitely adds to the experience, she was running the place with the busy crowd.

Tried this resto for experience :) We ordered the ff; 1. XL Xiao Long Bao for $13.25 (1pc) - My daugter loved it, she almost finished the whole XL Xiao Long Bao Dumpling herself. The broth was very flavorful. Just a reminder though, to be careful when sipping the broth, it is VERY hot. 😊 2. Pan-Fried Pork Buns with Scallions for $8.85 (3pcs) - I personally like this better than the XL Xiao Long Bao. For me, I like it when I bite a little of that meat inside. I also do like ground meat but for the xiao long bao (it's a little too grounded). I also like the way they pan-fried the pork buns with the skin underneath (I think it's a spring roll wrapper). It adds a little taste to it too. 3. Chicken with Bone Broth for $9.25 (6pcs) - This one is okay... the meat inside is also good, the dumpling skin is a little think than the meat inside. I think the XL Xiao Long Bao is a little pricey. It would've been acceptable if it's around $10-11. But then again, it's just my opinion ^_^ My overall rating is 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

I had the XL dumpling for the thrill and boy was it delicious. The meat was tender, loved the baby shrimp, and the broth was flavorful without being too salty or oily. The music is a bit loud but the atmosphere is fun and the service was friendly.
