Mission District Vietnamese Supermarket and Banh Mi Shop Duc Loi to Close - Eater SF

"Duc Loi Supermarket, a cornerstone of the Mission District's food scene, is closing after 36 years. Known for its affordable banh mi sandwiches and unique offerings like chocolate and peanut butter malt balls, the store has been a beloved neighborhood fixture. The original shop opened in 1998 before moving to its current location. The owners plan to reopen their other location, Duc Loi Pantry, in the future." - Paolo Bicchieri

One of the best Banh Mi Sandwiches I've ever had. Warm bread that's soft inside, crispy outside and loaded with meat. The pickled carrots have good flavor and crunch. I only wish there was also Daikon radish which is usually typical of Banh Mis.

Google
Amazing anything-you-can-want shop. It's like Uwajimaya and the best Mexican grocery got together in the Mission to make magic. I go here to find things I do not even know I need. The staff is super helpful and kind. The produce is clean, outstanding, and well priced. Same for their meat and poultry department. Couldn't recommend this place more! Update: this place gets better every time I go. Always great for new discoveries!

Google
I found the selection adequate but not amazing. The only chili oil is the same underwhelming brand at Safeway. The spice selection is limited to Hispanic spices and I couldn't find sumac. Selection is otherwise good and I appreciate the air conditioning.

Google
One star for the always friendly staff. I had high hopes for the ownership’s change but for now I’ll go elsewhere for items that are no longer carried here. At times the music volume is too loud, especially the blaring station breaks/ads. My requests to restock items seem to be ignored. They have limited Asian food offerings but increased selection in the pet food section. The produce looks more clean and fresh but with far less organic choices. It seems like there’s more prepackaged carb-sugar items, but no more variety of local fresh bread. There are now cakes in place of banh mi. There’s more toilet tissue in large bulk quantity with smaller, more expensive or perfumey options. TP might be a small thing but it’s a staple. As a city dweller with minimal space maybe consider introducing portable bidets so the only choice isn’t having to spend more $ for less :)

Google
Centrally located on the corners of 18th and Mission Streets. Open late until 9 pm Went in search of Asian green veggies-located a few that were available. Most were, per usual, were in clear white plastic bags. This is sometimes a barrier to seeing freshness. They frown upon you when you open the bag and take out the spoiled veggies. My thinking is why pay for rotten food. This store was well stocked with typical American, Latin, and Asian products. Prices were high on staples like can of corn or beans at $3 plus dollars. Shopping while black is always interesting, unique, and frustrating. A staffer began sweeping each aisle I seemed to be on. So I walked each and every aisle 3 times to ensure cleaness.

Google
Love this place - I cook a lot of Asian dishes and it's really the only place near the Mission that you can find a wide variety of mostly East and SE Asian ingredients. The next closest place would probably be Golden Natural up on Church. They had garlic chives the day I stopped in, tons of different kinds of mushrooms and greens. They're all quite cheap and most of it is fresh. I've taken off one star because sometimes the produce isn't the greatest and you do have to pick through it to make sure you get a fresh item.

Google
Although this market has recently changed ownership, the quality of food is still great. This is still a great Asian food staple in the Mission District.

Maggie White

Google
I love Duc Loi, they have everything you might want. The meat section is the cleanest in the area and pretty cheap, and the produce is pretty good quality. The store isn't organized very well and finding a reasonably priced option is often non-trivial, but it's awesome once you're used to the layout.

Yelp
Back in the Mission this time in my old stomping grounds. This is the place I would come to shop to get my snacks and drinks and other loose ends on 18th and Mission street for years. Today Duc Loi International Supermarket is still open ( somehow some places online says it's closed) and it has a variety of items available. Although, I did not see the Banh Mi available , Duc Loi International Market still offers lots of fresh produce , chicken, meats, and seafood. There are aisles of drinks ( there is a current temporary alcohol sales ban here) like natural juices . This is a good alternative and convenient place for anyone shopping for groceries in this area. Lots of food imported items for different parts of Asia and Latin America like cheese ,drinks, noodles, sauces ,and snacks. Duc Loi is an International Supermarket Market to shop for drinks and foods that are Asian and Hispanic You can find groceries of all kinds available here including foods which are organic
google avatar

Yelp
Cute local supermarket - quite reasonable prices, maybe a dollar more than like Target. Friendly staff that greet you when you enter and quite a variety of different items, though Safeway or something. Also has a banh mi counter for $8 decent sized banh mi's though not much sitting area

Yelp
I usually drop maybe if I counted around 3 out of 15 days. At first I was not impressed but I usually do end up buying stuff inside. I enjoy the place because I can get some BBQ's meat / and Ice Cream a coca cola lol. Well at least I am able to stay full for half the day lol. I will list 2 pros no cons: Place is near by me I am in the Inner Ric. District so I always ride the buses and it is always a 20 minute commute. If u don't need to drive don't drive ur wasting Money on Gas/ Tires/ Fuels and Insurance/ Alignment. If I need to drive around I use 2 mopeds or scooter because it is convenient also it is play around the throttle. The Cops don't care if u drive a stupid a moped or scooter. All u do wee wee around the streets. Avoid the stupid Muni Inspectors if u can it will save u lots of troubles because when I dropped by I usually pass by the SFMTA :/ the terrors. Finally read the part: The place accepts EBT! Yes u should apply for EBT and welfare if needed because 100,000 salaries and below is now low income.

Yelp
Do not buy fruits from here. Old and expired and just all together overpriced. I couldn't find any real fresh produce here or any fresh fruits. These looked like someone dumped them off of a charity truck or second hand for them to resell. Buyer beware. No wonder this place is empty.
google avatar

Yelp
It's sad to see this place close down after this weekend! It's the only somewhat sizable supermarket in the area that has a decent selection of grocery items and household goods. It's even got a banh mi shop inside that sells filling sandwiches for $9!
google avatar

J H.

Yelp
They stock some very hard to find items, and ingredients, that are essential for cooking many types of SE Asian food. The staff is friendly, and they keep the place clean, and tidy, which you rarely see see in markets such as these.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
This market has a little bit of everything, including the biggest malted milk balls you've ever seen (double chocolate and chocolate peanut butter). Asian foods and snacks, Latin American items, organic and bulk foods, and so much more that I didn't get a chance to see.
google avatar

Terence L.

Yelp
Great supermarket in the heart of the mission! While I was a little wary at first, the prices on the meat and produce here are often cheaper than Safeway and decent quality! There's also free parking available in the basement. The staff there provide great service and I highly recommend

Yelp
I like coming to Duc Loi for my basic and no so basic Asian grocery needs. I can usually find most ingredients needed for my cooking. Although some times the produce is not the best, there's other near by Mexican groceries to get them at. On my recent trip they had bean sprouts that expired 2 days prior but also had some with a later expiration date. They just need to do a little bit of quality control. Zucchinis looked shriveled too and fruit selection was limited. I'm glad I can come here for some fresh herbs that is sometimes harder to find such as dill and culantro. The staffs here are all helpful. I'm pretty impressed with some of the selection. Their freezer section is pretty good too, you can find dumplings, egg roll wrappers, meat balls, etc... just take a look. For the meat section tho I'd go elsewhere. They also have banh mi's however they aren't my favorite here in the city.

Yelp
Not the best Asian market around. I guess I'm used to Asian markets having a plethora of options and things never running out of stock. I was disappointed to see that there were some items that I could not locate or they just didn't have at all. I would come here if I needed some thing quick, but I think I would rather find another Asian market that has more options.

Chet M.

Yelp
I've been going here for years: like, well over a decade. It's always been a great Asian market, until the new owners decided to increase the representation of Mexican stuff, and decrease Asian stuff. I went there today and several things that they used to stock, they no longer do. Now, there are *dozens* of bodegas in the Mission that have Mexican stuff: why would I go to Duc Loi when I can go to Casa Guadalupe, or N other places? Duc Loi had one (really, really, really good) thing going for it: Asian foodstuffs. Ah, well. All good things must end.
google avatar

Hannah A.

Yelp
Duc Loi is the perfect grocery store to go to if you prep lots of Asian food at home. I have been able to find more obscure herbs like galangal, which has typically been hard for me outside of Chinatown, SF. Yes, the fresh produce is a little pricey, but the quality speaks for itself. I will say I was pretty disappointed with the bbq lemongrass pork option banh mi I ordered. Maybe I'm used to more traditional bbq banh mi, but the meat had so much fat that I gave up halfway thru eating. There was also some surprise pâté that I wasn't expecting, so it made the bread soggier than I wanted. Now I am sure some people love the additional textures and fattiness, but it wasn't for me! Basically: I'm giving Duc Loi four stars for its groceries, but 2 stars for the banh mi.
google avatar

Yelp
No frills, but awesome - has everything from Asian to American staples and some organic options. Before I would go to Whole Foods and then go to H-Mart... now I can just come here since it's got both Asian and Organic stuff that I like. This places has a bit of everything... things you might see at Whole Foods or Gusses and some things you might see at H-Mart....

Yelp
This is for the deli. Claims to be open on Saturdays from 9am-6:30pm. Came here at 11:30am on a Saturday with nobody behind the counter. Then I remembered another yelping saying you have to pay first. I wait in line & try to order and pay just to be told that the deli is closed today because it's Saturday. Uhhhh. That's not what your sign says! Maybe take your signs down and replace them with more accurate hours.
google avatar

Gina W.

Yelp
Needed ingredients for Peking duck Duc Loi the closest, and what luck! Had hoisin sauce, scallions, five spice all for a very reasonable price. In the corner they make bahn mi, And we were getting a bit hungry, so ordered up a lemongrass pork. It was SO FULL, almost needed a fork. This ain't no hipster dainty deal, this is an aggressive sandwich meal. Giant chunks of meat in there, one sandwich is plenty for two to share. Picked carrots and daikon too, BIG hunks of jalapeño (phew!) Some kind of creamy sauce on the bread. Ate half the sandwich and felt fully fed.
google avatar

Amy -.

Yelp
TL;DR - affordable produce, not good on fresh meat and fish. I love coming here to buy produce. It's affordable and in my opinion comparable to other markets around the area. I usually buy herbs, bok choy, onions and more here. Now, I hate that their meat and fish selection is subpar. Like what's up with that? It's sort of prepackaged or limited selection. You can find lots of American brands here and it's affordable too. Like Safeway prices. Ok so this place also has deli selection. Kind of cool. Like you can get Banh mi sandwiches.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Fantastic corner super market with great international food. Mostly Pan Asian stuff here. Think Wheat Starch, Pho Noodles, Bamboo Shoots, and other things you don't wanna spend triple on IF you can find them at your corp organic shop. There's also some other mexican and arabian spices and stuff here too. Staff is not rude or friendly...perhaps a little indifferent but hey it's a supermarket. Really great find when you find it.
google avatar

Serina C.

Yelp
I love the selection here. Nice to get galangal, kaffir lime leaves, and lemongrass in one trip.
google avatar

Jesse F.

Yelp
Good selection of groceries and a lot of Asian ingredients. Their Bahn Mi sandwiches are great and only $9. Sandwiches are all $12-18 everywhere else. I appreciate that they're keeping their prices reasonable.

Yelp
I was around the Mission District and wanted a Vietnamese Sandwich, and ended up finding this place online. Turns out that the deli is located inside a grocery store haha. They had a wide variety of Banh Mi Sandwiches to choose from. I ended up ordering the Fried Chicken Banh Mi. I have never came across a Fried Chicken Banh Mi before, but I'm so glad that I gave it a try! Total cost for the sandwich was $7.25 which is on the pricier side for Banh Mi, but the portions justifies the price! The sandwich was huge! And they definitely do not skimp out on the fillings. The combination of the picked vegetables, jalapeño, and the fried chicken was so delicious. I was full off only eating half of the sandwich, and I saved the other half for later. Location is walking distance from Dolores Park. And there is limited street parking available. I came here around 6pm on a Sunday and there was no line. Ordering process was pretty simple. You have to order from the deli but pay at the cash register of the supermarket. Order only took less than 10 minutes, and service was pretty friendly! I would definitely recommend this place for a good Banh Mi sandwich.

Yelp
Vegetarian friendly Asian market! I love this place, being in a Hispanic meat-centric neighborhood this place is my safe Haven
google avatar

Doug I.

Yelp
I love this neighborhood grocery! Fresh produce, sandwiches with fantastic flavor made to order, and tempting chocolate bars at the checkout. What's not to like? I look forward to my next visit

Yelp
Duc Loi is one of my favorite grocery stores in SF. Low key and unpretentious, Duc Loi has a great selection of Asian and Western produce, sauces, staples, and ingredients -- all at reasonable prices. I get most of my Chinese veg and potsticker ingredients here, and easy food prep materials for the workweek during Covid SIP. I also get my specialty goodies - like fancy butters, spices, and flours if I'm baking up a storm, or exotic herbs for a new recipe. I find their prices to be at least 5-10% cheaper if not more on most dry and canned goods than other stores in the vicinity. Plus on weekends they make fresh banhmi, springrolls, and Vietnamese coffee. They cover the basics with their meat and seafood counter and cheese selection - for more choices I augment by shopping elsewhere. The staff works hard and is very nice. Check out Duc Loi - it's a hidden treasure in the Mission. I'm sure you will find items here that are hard to find anywhere else!
google avatar

Yelp
This was recommended to us by a friend. Reasonable prices and not crowded. Decent wine selection. Good produce prices. A little of everything, even all sizes of bamboo for great prices.

Teresa S.

Yelp
The absolute best, authentic, and generously portioned banh mi sandwiches I have gotten from any place. They're only $9! And almost the size of my head, chock full of meat and pickled veggies with delicious pate and mayo spread. The staff are super friendly if you're polite and willing to be patient if there's a lot of customers around. They also have fresh cut fruit and shrimp spring rolls sometimes. All around great deals, produce, and deli. I come here allll the time for a hearty sandwich!
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Went here while thrifting in the mission cause I keep hearing good things. And boy was I not disappointed! The tofu and portobello banh mi sandwich was sooo good that it felt illegal eating it. The staff was really attentive and friendly. New favorite sandwich, hands down. Hot tip; do not wear a white t shirt while eating the vegan kimchi. Delicious but messy. Or maybe it was just me.
google avatar

Angie N.

Yelp
This is my favorite grocery store in the area. Well stocked and has a great assortment of American, East and Southeast asian products, organic and conventional. A lot of reviewers mentioned they are pricey but I think the pricing is actually fair and affordable for the quality and brands, compared to the more expensive boutique groceries nearby. This is also my top choice for meats in the neighborhood. The whole staff is super friendly and helpful, and they keep the store clean and inviting.
google avatar

Camille L.

Yelp
This place is a hybrid of international grocery store and Vietnamese to-go. I occasionally come for their banh mi. Their banh mi sandwiches are fresh. I get the "Authentic Vietnamese" for $6.99. They also have fresh green papaya salad for $5 and Vietnamese iced coffee made with organic condensed milk for $4. 5*s for customer service at the Vietnamese counter. They have an impressive variety of groceries given their medium space. A note to the management: The dirty floors are definitely not conducive to grocery shopping. I was here on a Monday morning and it was difficult to not notice that the floors needed a sweep and mop. Take care of what you have, and keep your space clean. (Watch what happens when you do!) That, and making sure product prices are labeled, would greatly improve your presentation. 3*s for customer service at the grocery.

Rudy T.

Yelp
Friendly service and great prices in the meat department.

R L.

Yelp
Super annoyed to have walked in freezing ass windy weather to get one item... and the door guy said they are closed before 9pm. Annoyed AF

Nick S.

Yelp
Lots of great Asian ingredients and herbs that are hard to find! Find your kaffir lime leaves here!
google avatar

Larissa M.

Yelp
My favorite Southeast Asian supermarket in SF. Yes, the produce isn't the freshest and it's not the cleanest, but it's convenient. It reminds me of the Vietnamese/Southeast Asian markets that I used to frequent in San Jose - like Mekong - but cleaner with a random "hipster" section. They have a decent selection of Asian vegetables (like Chinese cabbage and kabocha squash) and frozen food (like the BBQ eel I usually get in Japantown). Before Duc Loi, Starco Mart in SOMA was my go-to, but Duc Loi has better selection, is in a better neighborhood, AND is open on Sundays. It's also nice to be able to drop by the various Mexican grocery stories to do some additional shopping. I'm seriously considering selecting my next apartment complex based on proximity to this market. They also have a banh mi counter inside - the sandwiches are very generous and well-seasoned. The only downside is the bread/meat/pickle ratio is a little off (needs more pickles). I will always be loyal to King Eggroll in San Jose, but Duc Loi's banh mi is good in a pinch. Perfect for a quick picnic in Dolores Park!

Henry G.

Yelp
I found many ingredients for Asian recipes. You've gotta try this place. It's a great find in the Mission!!

Yelp
Hi, i have lived in the neighborhood for 24 years and have enjoyed your store since you opened. Today i came At 5:48pm and the young Very Rude asian boy would not let me in.i told him i only needed a box of cookies,my husband loves them and was in an accident , he has brain damage. The man basicly said tough shit and kept helping people but would not let me in. The owner just came to the door, there are still people shopping its 6:04, and said something rude and slammed her door. Im a young 40 something normal female that shops here all the time. HOW FRICKIN RUDE

Yelp
Solid corner store grocery and convenience store in the Mission. I really only go here for the banh mi, but they have a good selection of produce, some awesome snacks, and decent plants for sale (I got a cactus). I've only tried the Grilled Pork and the Niman Ranch Beef banh mi, but both were excellent and flavorful. Interested in trying the fish and tofu versions next time, maybe throw in a Vietnamese iced coffee. Will definitely be back for more banh mi and probably some plants.
google avatar

Lia R.

Yelp
Rating Duc Loi's Vietnamese deli in the supermarket here! The banh mi here is great. There's plenty of pate and mayo on the vegetarian options (tofu, portabella), which means it's a good banh mi place there's tons of sauce, lots of carrots, and overall a great flavor. The pork BBQ banh mi was super juicy with a large portion of meat. Sadly the tofu banh mi is the same price ($6.99) as the rest of the meat-based banh mis. They do have one table with three chairs as well as two stools at an elevated counter.

Yelp
Would not know what i would do without you guys!!! And thank you for not giving me shit face when many times i stop by minutes before your closing time!! Big shoutout to Duc Loi crew: Richard & Chi & Aunty for their excellent customer service and friendly supportive attitude per my requests!! Between 16th ~ 28th Mission Street this is the only Grocery Store that has the widest variety of: ORGANIC PRODUCE + ORGANIC FRUITS + A TON OF HERBS + HEALTHY SUPER FOOD SNACKS + ALT VEG MEAT + HEALTHY Noodles ( buckwheat / black rice / mallet) My almost every other day stop at Duc Loi includes: - Organic Cilantro - Organic Celery - Organic Garlic - Organic Onion - Organic Red Grapes - Organic Apples & Oranges - Organic Bananas - Organic Lemon - Organic Arugula - Organic Baby Kale - Organic Black & Rasberry - Organic Dates & Apricot Which none i can find organic at the numerous other grocery stores on mission street between 16th - 28th!! Thank you Duc Loi....!!!! I so appreciate you!!

Yelp
Went to this store for the first time to buy Vietnamese liver pate, however I was told in a rude manner that they only make it for their sandwiches, not sold to the public as liver pate, que?? Most be a secret recipe, how simple would it be. I called Saigon Sandwich on Larkin st and they were much more accommodating and do sell their home made liver pate Vietnamese style.
google avatar

Eva E.

Yelp
This review is for their fish banh mi. The sandwich is really fresh. The size is gigantic and the taste is well seasoned, with a layer of pate and garlic aioli. I was surprised that it was so good and it came from a grocery store. Definitely coming back again for the fish.
google avatar

Yelp
I just like this market. I can't help it. It's not even that close to my home, but when I find myself dawdling on Mission (which I find myself doing after digesting a belly-stretching burrito), I somehow end up here thinking I should get something healthy or at least ethnic. That motivation may come from the fact that it feels like such a global community in here spanning Asia and Latin America when it comes to its packaged and canned foods. It also offers the lure of organic produce, Niman Ranch meats, and Mary's Free Range poultry. You really can't go wrong with that eclectic mix of groceries in a paper bag emblazoned with the slogan, "Go Green! Go Organic!" But who am I kidding? The real magnet for me is the selection of banh mis next to the meat counter. There's a dozen to consider on the side chalkboard, most priced at just five dollars. I went for the Pork BBQ with Lemongrass which was chock full of sliced marinated pork with carrots, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, and daikon with a spread of liverwurst on the soft roll that held the monstrosity together (see photo). It was delicious and such a deal. Now don't expect to eat there since there is exactly one table sometimes occupied by a derelict waiting for a handout. No matter since you have to get home and put that queso fresco and coconut milk in the fridge anyway. FOOD - 4 stars...one of the better banh mis in town AMBIANCE - 3 stars...it's a market for Pete's sake SERVICE - 3.5 stars...an efficient staff TOTAL - 4 stars...go for your groceries, leave with your banh mi

Yelp
Duc Loi has been around since the 80s, you know, during the days of Charlie's Angels, Bionic Woman, and The Knight Rider! They have remodeled several times but one thing that hasn't changed, their banh mi remains good. They give you enough portion to make you keep coming back. It gets busy here during lunch time. This is also a Latino/Asian market. They have everything here including having your own butcher and all kinds of veggies and fruits. Their staff have always been nice and they speak English, Spanish, Spanglish, Chinese, Vietnamese and maybe Filipino. Next time, I'll chat up my Tagalog and see if anyone can translate (wink)! :p If you are looking for hard to find Latino and Asian recipes to cook up your meal, or in a rush because you worked late and need a quick and easy ready made meal, shop here. You will enjoy the family environment and local feel of the neighborhood. Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

Yelp
Health department close that place Not surprised at all to bad for them. But when I went there to get a Vietnamese sandwich and saw the meat in display I was not sure I hope they can fix the problem and reopen
google avatar

Yelp
oh yes, Duc Loi is my reliable supermarket. imagine this, .. I've been looking for frozen "Goyas Platanos Maduros / Goyas Sweet Plantains" all over San Francisco to no avail. big supermarkets, small grocery shops, everywhere, including online. I went to the Missions, Grocery Outlets, Valencia st, Safeways, Richmonds, Sunsets, couldn't find them. but I found them at Duc Loi in the frozen section, haha! thank you Duc Loi for saving me FedEx / UPS shipping cost, to have those delicious packages shipped from the East Coast! on top of that, Duc Loi also serves some of the best Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwiches) in the city. I also bought a pocket of Fresh Thai Chili Peppers for $1.99 that looks like just being picked from the owner's garden. I'm glad Duc Loi is around.
google avatar

Allison C.

Yelp
I'm not going to pretend to be a banh mi connoisseur, or an expert on Asian groceries. What I do know is that I can get a solid, ginormous sandwich for only $7 (used to be $5) in a neighborhood that is quickly gentrifying and down the street a dinky little sandwich runs you $15. I get 2 meals out of these sandwiches. That's $3.50 to fill my belly. My favorite is the fried chicken sandwich. They fry it up then and there and it's so crispy and tasty. I also appreciate that I can conveniently pick up the ingredients to cook up some tom kha, and some spicy chili crisp at the same time. Thumbs up from me.
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
Cheap produce and one of the only larger Asian supermarkets in the area. It does have limited selection, you can't always find everything. Like they might have one choice of some item and it could be sold out. I tried getting hot pot ingredients and they ran out of the one soup base they carried and only had pho meat... lol. I also tried to get dumpling wrappers and they only had the yellow kind. But has all the basics, a nice deli, and saves me a trip to Richmond.
google avatar

Chris E.

Yelp
Don't miss the banh mi sandwiches at the deli. So tasty! Goes great with a coffee from around the corner for a quick and tasty lunch.
google avatar

Mel T.

Yelp
Hipster organic meets asian supa market. They offer tons of things here, from asian food products to organic foods. They have things like cold brew iced coffee and things like... matcha green tea! My boyfriend and I concluded that it's like an Asian supamarket that adapted to Valencia St standards... type of thing. Pretty cool and it's one of a kind. A little pricey, but it's fine considering it's location and everything. They have a small selection of Banh Mi sandwiches (vietnamese sandwiches) in the back and they also have vietnamese iced coffee. I tried the combo banh mi which is pretty good, it is more peppery than usual, but it does satisfy my needs for a vietnamese sandwich~ The vietnamese iced coffee is pre-brewed and you can see it in the display, they add ice to it and hand it to you. (which is reasonable because it would take years for that thing to drip...) Overall pretty good if you want a quick banh mi or is craving vietnamese iced coffee as well. I'd come back for convenience and they also have high quality things around the market for me to grab randomly sometimes too!

Yelp
I like this place. Broad selection including gourmet items and ingredients that are hard to find. Good meat selection. One warning: stay away from house-made kimchee; it's the worst I ever had. Go to a Korean grocery for that.

Yelp
Eh whatever. Y'all really hyping it up huh? Lol Well in a city, or rather area in general (bay) with a lot of Vietnamese cuisine & other special Asian consumer stores, this one falls blind in the crowd. Y'all raving about 5-6 dollar banh mis that yes are pretty good but you can actually save 2 bucks and go to other places with either same or better quality. Also, I think it's ridiculous how boujee this place is for no reason. Like go to the Manila market on silver which actually has all other Asian cuisine and products as well and see how cheaper and rational it is compared to this place aimed for scammed yuppies who think they're cultured.
