"Located on the outskirts of the North End — and still within sightline of TD Garden — is Ducali, a charming Roman-style pizzeria that has been slinging pies for over a decade. Pair the pizza with a pint from a respectable lineup of New England beers on tap. And if you get there before 4 p.m., grab an espresso from the charming Italian-style espresso bar, Caffé Ducali." - Nathan Tavares, Eater Staff

"It’s really easy for North End pizza places to get lost in the tourist-choked, candle-lit shuffle of the neighborhood. Ask just about anyone about North End pizza, and they’ll talk about Regina and Umberto first, and then any one of approximately 86 other places third. But Ducali deserves to be mentioned up there with the classics. This place is essentially a pizza-centric bar serving really good Roman-style pies and a small selection of paninis and appetizers. It’s one of the few places where we actually like the standard cheese pizza more than the margherita, though the real star is the aragosta topped with lobster, guanciale, and mascarpone. photo credit: Tina Picz photo credit: Tina Picz" - Dan Secatore

Google
Delicious flavors, excellent service, cool environment. We had the Burrata, the Polpetta, and the Pollo Pesto with a Caprese salad and 3 cold and tasty beers. All 3 pies were flavorful and the crust on each was perfectly prepared! So, so good! Loved the salad as well. We'll be back and I highly recommend the place.

Google
Very good pizza coming out of a classic oven. Great selection of beer on tap. Lots of wine as well. Service was very good. Pastore salad is outstanding. We shared a Burrata pizza (the large was a lot more than the two of us could eat). Crust and pizza were excellent. They could up their game on the interior. Sort of sterile industrial.

Google
Great service all around! Overall cozy casual ambiance and love how it’s decorated with posters. Food was amazing, our party got various kinds of pizzas and they were all fresh and authentic. Gelato was the perfect way to end the meal. Not many places in the north end are dedicated entirely to pizza and paninis so this is a great find. Will definitely be coming back!

Google
Delicious food. Our favourite was the pizza nachos followed by the capers (tasty balsamic glaze). Really lovely staff member Lily who suggested and made a lemonade with sparkling water and lemon 🍋 on the spot. Definitely deserves a much better overall rating.

Google
I have eaten many places throughout the North End and have always been curious about Ducali. To be honest I was concerned it was more of a tourist catered place. I decided to stop in here for an early dinner to try their pizza and so very glad I did. Meatball pizza was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Crust was perfect and the marinara is amazing!!! Grab the personal size if your a solo eater and an ice cold peroni and your night will be perfect!!

Google
Fantastic pizza! Wait staff was super friendly and warm, wonderful place in the north end. There was no wait either since it’s such a decently sized place. Definitely recommend this one!

Aaron Rogge

Google
Excellent service! We enjoyed pizza. The pizzas have a thin crust with a nice chew. Flavors are simpler than some other locations but still very good. I'm glad we stopped in.

Google
Awesome pizza nachos(nachos Italiano) Ambiance : we sat outdoor. Ducali has a pleasant ambiance but nothing out of the ordinary. Food: We had an appetizer - Nacho Italiano. Oh my, just as I read in many reviews, it was so delicious. I loved it! We were so stuffed from it that we actually decided we needed a break before the actual dinner. And a long walk. I would highly recommend this place for this. Although if you are a vegetarian like me, request to not add the meat! Service : drinks and food were brought out in a timely manner. Our server also recommended some extra toppings in our pizza nachos which surely brought the up the taste. All praise for her! Veggie rating: I give this place a veggie rating of 3/5 for having few options for us and also being flexible on the pizza nachos! I'll go back for sure!

Yelp
I was on DoorDash and I wanted pizza from the north end and I looked at a few different pizza shops but this one caught my eye. I loved how they use fresh ingredients on their pizzas and you can taste it. The pizza is thin crust, wood fired oven. I had gotten a Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella cheese, basil. Tomato sauce was perfect. Definitely a great find! I will be coming back.

Allison H.

Yelp
Terrible service and dirty venue. Undercooked pizza crust and terrible service - did I say that already? Dirty menues, dirty glasses, terrible wine. Should be closed down. Just scrolled down to read the reviews and so many people have echoed my experience. Why doesn't the lazy owner take note.

Marisa G.

Yelp
They were good! It's a bit messy but that's not a bad thing. Location is great if going to an event at the TD Garden. I'm glad we stopped to get a taste of "Little Italy" when in Boston! Price is a bit high but it's like that in most places in Boston.

Steve G.

Yelp
Excellent spot before an event at TD Garden. Casual atmosphere that heats up as game time approaches and the place fills up. Excellent pizzas, loved the meatballs as a starter... amazing sauce. I recommend the LARGE pie over the SMALL pie... its a whole different ballgame. The small pie, while very good, doesn't take on the greatness of its big brother... check my photos and you can get the idea. I feel that way at all pizza spots. Really good service, great attitude. Our waiter Jonathan H, was awesome! This place is a great choice to get away from the hectic atmosphere of some other options in the area. Very close to the Garden but far enough to slip by the eye of the masses... hidden gem. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Mike W.

Yelp
What a great place to stop at when visiting, or living, in the Boston area. Great atmosphere, great service, and great food. You definitely want to give the Burrata Crostini a serious consideration as your starter. #DukeOfEats

Marsha H.

Yelp
4 stars for food. I ordered Margherita pizza, it's just an average wooded stove pizza, not a wow factor. & caprese salad, too much balsamic dressing & it's making it too sweet. Would recommended to have the dressing cup on the side, would be perfect. 3 stars for customer service. I was sitting in the corner, I was forgotten. I was eating pizza so of course I need more than one napkin, was waiting for someone to check on me from time to time to see if I need anything. Nothing. I had a cup of water that I would like to refill, too.

Niamh M.

Yelp
Loved the egg and cheese piadina here! Got pesto and arugula added and it was delicious!

Sanika K.

Yelp
First time to Boston and wanted to grab lunch before doing the Freedom Trail. Came across this place and the ambiance was casual. It wasn't too busy when we went and the service was good. We ordered a large spinach pizza and a small Margherita pizza. The large is good enough for 3-4 people and the small is good for 1-2 people. The Margherita pizza was so good that I completely devoured it myself. The spinach pizza had too much garlic and wasn't crusty. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're near the Freedom Trail area. Ordered: November 12, 2022 via Dining-In

Aya R.

Yelp
Dining method: Dine-in/counter serve Item(s) ordered: Egg and cheese on piadina, egg and cheese on everything bagel, peach lemonade, strawberry lemonade Speed: Took under 10 minutes for freshly-made food Ambiance: Light, airy open-air cafe in the North End with a European feel. Beautiful place, a few tables. Value: Very much worth every penny! (@ducali, please don't change your prices :)) The review: With social media unearthing every spot imaginable, one might think that hidden gems are out of the question. However, the North End certainly has one--Caffé Ducali. The aesthetically-pleasing eatery is just as delicious as it looks. When it comes to shelling out $1 extra for the piadina, you will absolutely not regret it. The egg and cheese sandwiches at Caffé Ducali were freshly-made, steaming hot, and downright delectable. The piadina was the best, essentially a small wood fired pizza crust, enveloping the egg and melty cheese. As a self-proclaimed bagel expert, the bagel was a close second. I usually get coffee everywhere but something possessed me to not only order the lemonade (strawberry), but to also convince my friend to do the same. I took some Yelp reviewer tax and tried hers, the peach lemonade, which was even better than the strawberry. They simply were delicious and refreshing. There is an attached Ducali Pizzeria & Bar, which I look forward to trying very soon. This was truly my top café experience in Boston, and I've been to many. Caffé Ducali is my new favorite and soon to be yours too!

Ella R.

Yelp
The burrata pizza was amazing. The truffle oil on top just elevated the pizza so much.

Maddie V.

Yelp
Ducali is a honestly very underrated around the north end. They are a great place to go to watch any of the games around Boston, or a soccer game if you are big into international football. They have great pizza, so far we have only had the burrata pizza. It has two huge burrata balls on the top and is covered in prosciutto and topped with truffle oil. For an appetizer we also tried the antipasto sott'olio. It was really really good grilled eggplant that is definitely worth a try.

Les S.

Yelp
Looking for some epic pizza near TD Gardens? Ducali's is the place to go! The pizza was outstanding - loved the burrata with truffle drizzle. Crust was perfection. Great selection of beers as well.

Travis H.

Yelp
Friendly staff, Fresh, fast, clean, great service w/ ambience and delicious!!!! We got in quickly and served immediately! Well beyond expectation! We had a small Prosciutto pizza and Margherita and it took 5-10 min. Some of the best pizza we've ever had!!

Cheryl T.

Yelp
Thank you so much Ducali's!!! Last night a group of us had dinner before the Bruins game and in the rush to make the game on time, I accidentally left my purse behind. We only got two blocks when someone at Ducali's called to let us know I had left it behind. It was such a relief to know that someone hadn't taken it and that Ducali's notified us so quickly. Thank you for your honesty and for saving me from a night of worry and panic. P.s. The service was great and the pizza and salad was delicious too! Ducali's will continue to be our go-to place when we go to TD Garden.

Madeline H.

Yelp
This used to be my family's favorite spot, it's a great location. I believe management changed recently. The past few times I've tried to return, the staff has been so unpleasant that borders rude. On a not particularly busy evening, me and 4 friends sat at the bar. Also at the bar are the bartenders friends, who he chats with for over 10 minutes without glancing our way. My friend finally says "Hi" and he looks at her with confusion and annoyance. "Hi?" "Are we able to order from you?" "Uh..sure" clearly annoyed to be leaving his friends. We felt so unwanted and awkward. I'm patient and do not expect immediate service, but this interaction left me so uncomfortable that I will not be returning. Plenty of other great bars in the area.

Dan H.

Yelp
Called for take out and was warmly greeted. Told pizza would be available in 10-15 minutes, which I thought was fast as place sounded busy via the phone. Arrived twenty minutes later and was told it was going to be another 10 minutes. No big deal...got two small pizzas. Pesto chicken and a spicy one, forget the name. Spicy one was better then Pesto chicken IMO. Pizza was good, not great. Still searching for a great Boston Pizza.

Yelp
My friends and I recently booked a pizza making class at Ducali and it did not disappoint! There were 8 of us and when we walked in they had everything ready to go (the cutest set up!) and quickly took our drink orders. Nick was our pizzaiolo for the night and he was so much fun! He was super interactive and was always one step ahead. Not only was the whole experience awesome, but the pizza was top notch. I was shocked with how many toppings we got to choose from. The fresh mozzarella, fried pancetta, caramelized onions, and eggplant were just a few of our favorites! Thanks so much to Nick for a fun night and to Silvana for making the booking process so easy. We will definitely be back!

Mariel R.

Yelp
Underrated spot in the North End! Pretty fair pricing and absolutely delicious food. The pizza nachos are a must try! And don't forget to grab a drink from their extensive beer list.

Brigid B.

Yelp
Went to Ducali for dinner before a game at TD Garden and really enjoyed it! Great location and good menu. Really enjoyed the pizza- the fresh mozzarella was great and the charm of the wood oven can't be beat!

Steve R.

Yelp
I am not sure how long this review will be but it is a part of the series of "our visit to Boston in November of 2020". The weather was perfect mind you so again, I think the experience we had was amazing because it's normally freezing and outside would not be on the menu lol. This place was on my radar from the jump but with the wife and other couple we were with, overlooked it. I will have to be honest... when we finally made it to this place, it was on our walk home from our "bar hopping excursion" that day and was located just before the bridge and our hotel (Charlestown Residence Inn). With the rule of "you must eat if you drink" in Boston, we only snacked all day long because we didn't want to "eat" yet but drink. When it was time to make our way back to the hotel, this was A MUST HAVE SITUATION HAHAHAH!!! MY CHOICE finally was happening as we walked right in to be seated. It wasn't crowded at all and prompt service in a very Covid and clean area. We went with two amazing sounding pizzas and waited patiently. The wait wasn't long and finally........ out came HEAVEN! The pizza was perfectly cooked, thin crust, crispy but juicy with the toppings and just absolutely ROCKED THE HOUSE! It was so delicious I could have eaten the entire pizza myself. Maybe because of the fact that were were out all day and really didn't eat much that enhanced this????....maybe hahahahaha... but it stuck to my mind and memory and was truly great pizza at a great place and location. We will for sure be back here on our next visit and can't go wrong at all visiting. The place that TOTALLY HIT THE SPOT and right on time!!!

Charlene C.

Yelp
Rude college girl at the Cafe side. Went in for pizza and I guess she assumed we know what a piani is. We left with 3 sandwiches, not what we wanted. My daughter saw this employee laugh at me when I turned away.

Brittany M.

Yelp
Lovely unpretentious pizzeria in the north end, and honestly one of the better pizza places in the north end. I appreciate the size of their large pizzas, which is great for 2 people with a slice or two for leftovers. I wish desperately they would bring back the steak salad! The steak salad was AMAZING at this place but hasn't been on the menu in quite a while so I think they got rid of it. Trivia nights here are also fun, though a little hard to hear the announcer.

Ben W.

Yelp
I'm surprised by the 3.5 star average when this is some of the best pizza I've had in Boston. Our waitress Marina was incredibly kind and accommodating, and added mushrooms and zucchini to the Nachos Italiano instead of salami to make them vegetarian. The spinaci tasted like garlic bread with spinach (I mean that in the best possible way) and the melanzane had great fresh tomato sauce with grilled eggplant. Basil fizz cocktail was great and fresh tasting (I had 2) and the outdoor seating was quick and easy. Slightly off the north end beaten path so easy to get a table, and convenient to north station. Worth checking out for the great food and friendly service!

Julia A.

Yelp
Review for the caffe ducali I ordered an iced latte in the morning and service was quick. The cup wasn't over-iced which is good because then there's room for the latte. It comes in a cup with a wide hole for sipping out of as opposed to using a straw. The latte was really good! Will definitely come back

Kellee F.

Yelp
Ducali's is at the corner of Atlantic Ave. & N. Washington across from a school & within view of the Bridge reconstruction going on between Boston &.Charlestown They have a very pleasant Cafe' and the Pizzeria next door. We went for lunch. We had a chicken parmigian & a chicken pesto, both with the restaurants side of salad. The panini were terrific! The ciabatta panini they came on were really excellent & the sandwiches were the perfect size. We shared their Duçali's Pale Ale Unfilterred which was a really fine beer, really fine. Even the water -&^)- was perfect. Our waiter was attentive, amicable and professional in the best sense of the word. It was a perfect lunch time. Cannot wait to go there for Sunday brunch when they have some ofbthe soccer matches on!!!

Frank B.

Yelp
Very nice place near TD center. Beer list had good variety. Lots of pizza choices, and the meatball pizza was terrific. Appetizers and salads were very good and good sized. Small pizzas were really big for one person, and could be shared. Full bar. Super staff.

Malik L.

Yelp
This place might be the one of the greatest hidden gems Boston has to offer. From the the excellent customer service to the absolutely delicious food there is really no better place to spend time with you friends!

Tony D.

Yelp
Our first stop when we got into town straight from the airport. Amazing pie! Definitely a go to in the north end

Alison M.

Yelp
It looks like a sports bar tastes like a 5 star restaurant so good for pre game meals!! The truffle burattta pizza keeps me up at night SO GOOD

Connor F.

Yelp
Bad food. Bad ingredients. Bad service. Bad vibes. Regina's was closed, so we decided to try Ducali's which is open later and wasn't at all crowded. To start, when we were seated, one of the paper menus they gave us had a couple big greasy food smears on it. Thought it was weird they'd hand us a menu like that, but not the biggest deal in the world. Whatever. We ordered a half margarita half pepperoni pizza and a Diet Coke. After some time had passed we noticed our server sitting down hanging out, but we still never got our Diet Coke... when he passed by us some time later we flagged him down and asked again for the Diet Coke. When the pizza came out, the "pepperoni" was salami. Not pepperoni. We let this go too. When the server asked if he could get anything else, we reminded him a *third* time about the elusive Diet Coke. When he finally came back after we were now already halfway through our pizza, the Diet Coke was completely flat... what a joke! In moments like these you hope to have a server that possesses the self awareness to know they've created a negative experience and perhaps make a gesture like knocking the drink off the tab, but nope. Apparently nothing to see here! Death by a thousand cuts at Ducali. And the pizza is absolutely meh. Get your fix anywhere else in the north end.

Skyy W.

Yelp
Such a cool place! They have breakfast Sammie's and super good coffee! Perfect little pit stop while exploring town

scott k.

Yelp
Wow let's just start with what a great staff. It says they are closed until 4 but they have a great little cafe open with very tasty breakfast and of course your much needed morning cup of Joe. The everything bagel with pancetta egg and cheese hit the spot. This is the hidden gem of the north end.

Anonymous L.

Yelp
Great service great food - nothing fancy inside but clean with a decent bar. Eggplant/zucchini antipasti, mozz balls and seriously good pizza!!

Eddy J.

Yelp
We stopped for some coffee and there service and coffee were amazing. We highly recommend this caffe.

Alyssa S.

Yelp
We only went for the coffee. We got here too late for food. But this is right along the Freedom Trail and has an open area where coffee can be served.

Cristina M.

Yelp
what a amazing place!!!! service was impeccable. espresso martini was the best I've had! their fried mozzarella balls were the softness smoothest cheese... a definite must if you go. the pollo pesto pizza was spectacular. we will be going back to this hidden gem again!!!

Ted H.

Yelp
Great pizza and exceptional hospitality. We were visiting Boston for the day and talked to the bartender, Nick. He was engaging and made our short stay in Boston memorable. Thanks Nick!

Kenneth B.

Yelp
Stopped in for cocktails before dinner down the street. So I can only comment on the service and drinks. The staff was very accommodating, and attentive. We had a couple join us unexpectedly and the staff helped us arrange chars and made everyone feel welcome. The pizza oven looks awesome, must come back to try their food.

Anne F.

Yelp
My time at Ducali cannot be topped. Both Marina and Tyler are top notch with their customer service making sure the food and drinks are exactly what you want them to be. Marina every time I've come in has been super friendly and attentive to make sure I'm having a good experience. She is the reason I've been coming weekly since the beginning of the pandemic. I'm so grateful for the service at Ducali. I can't say enough good things about how great Marina is and how lucky Ducali is to have her, Tyler seems like a solid addition as well.

Brian G.

Yelp
Ordered lunch here before. Chicken cutlet on the sandwich was dry. Decided to give it another try and place a pickup order. Girl who answered the phone was rude. Seemed as if they didn't want my business so I hung up and decided to go elsewhere. It's no wonder why the establishment always looks empty.

Chris B.

Yelp
Decent pizza and great service. My biggest issue is the pizza crust was a soggy AF! This would be a five star place for me if the crust were crispy

Kathleen F.

Yelp
Order takeout from here with some coworkers. Others really enjoyed the chicken pesto sandwich. I was really disappointed by the porchetta sandwich. I at first thought it was my coworkers grilled cheese because I didn't notice the one thin slice of meat that was on it.

Kelly H.

Yelp
I'm just gunna leave this here Two of us ordered this as an appetizer and decided this was all we needed for dinner! Super crunchy and flavorful, the marinara dipping sauce is the perfect touch They also have root beer in a glass bottle which I adored. Love this place! Can't wait to come back and try more of the actual pizza!

Gonzalo M.

Yelp
I went with my family and I got the best service from Nick and Matias, the best bartenders. The pizzas were amazing and a nice ambiance near to the TD-garden before the game of the bruins.

MaryLou B.

Yelp
Shoutout to our Ducali Ambassador, Dominique L. !!! Outstanding service and beautiful spirit!! A smile and heart that lit up this adorable restaurant!! We enjoyed ice waters and 2 glasses of Lupa ... porcellini pizza was AMAZING!!! The pizza was dreamy and delicious. Smoky, creamy, buttery, and crunchy. All you need in a pizza! Never knew a pizza without pepperoni could taste so

Lauren J.

Yelp
We love Ducali! Their pizza and apps are delicious- definitely try the Italian nachos. They have a great beer/cider selection and awesome cocktails as well. But what stands out to us the most is how friendly their staff is, an experience that we haven't had in other more "renowned" pizza places in the same area. As a bonus, their attached caffe is totally amazing! Love their coffees and teas, it's a great place to pop in for some awesome breakfast.

Olivia C.

Yelp
Okay, so I never really leave a review, good or bad, but I deemed this worthy to leave one because I'm so irritated. This was the most half-a**ed made pizza I have ever had in my life other than the failures my family have made at home, and even then those were better than this. The cheese was barely melted, which should've been a good indicator that it wasn't done and should've been put back in for a few more minutes but someone was clearly in a rush. Despite the appearance of the cheese I still took a bite figuring it might still be good, but the dough was just a smidge above being raw. It was like mush in my mouth and the whole combination was just utter garbage. Great ingredients that, if taken the time to actually cook right, would've tasted delicious together, but nope. Sorely disappointed, though not surprised because I was shocked to receive a notification saying my pizza was done less than 10 minutes after ordering it for takeout. Had to pop it back in the oven to cook longer so it could even be palatable. I should have expected the effort in cooking to be just as bad as the effort in service from waitstaff because I was standing at the door for several minutes before anyone even so much as looked in my direction. I've gone here a few months now and have witnessed first hand the star reviews go from a 4.5 to a 3.5 in such a short amount of time. I don't know if it's new ownership or servers but something has to change because the quality of this place has dropped exponentially.

Shivani S.

Yelp
Get the pesto chicken panini. You won't be sorry. Absolutely delicious, bread is soft, the pesto is addicting.

Lisa P.

Yelp
We were really looking forward to our first visit to Ducali. We checked in with the hostess who pulled up our reservation on her tablet and we were asked to wait just a moment. While we waited we could see the staff trying to figure out what to do. It was obvious that they had overbooked. A few minutes later a host came back and told me he couldn't find our reservation. I repeated the reservation name when asked and told him that the hostess, who was standing maybe 10 feet away had found it and I saw it on the tablet. He again repeated that they couldn't find it. Ah, then he 'found it'. And then he told us that they were overbooked because they seated people who they planned on having outdoors inside the restaurant and that they 'would not have a table for us tonight'. That's it. No, I'm so sorry, we could seat you at x time, have a drink on the house at the bar. No, can you wait a bit? Not even a sincere we're so sorry. Nothing. Just a very flat 'we won't have a table for you tonight'. I have no idea how their food is. I do know that their idea of customer service is horrible. Oh, bright spot of the night? We went next door and had an amazing meal & excellent service at Filippo's!
