"As the name suggests, the Memorial neighborhood restaurant Duck ‘N Bao is best known for Peking duck and fluffy bao buns. This place is teeny—you can probably see what’s going on back in the kitchen from the host stand, but that makes it feel all the more intimate. The pan-fried beef bao is fine, but the focus should be on the Peking duck, which comes with paper-thin pancakes and a sweet duck sauce. The meat is delicate, and we’d eat the crackling crispy skin on its own. Come here when you need a quick weeknight dinner, a casual date night, or just want to appreciate some duck." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas
"What began as a takeout-order connection grew into a restaurant transformation and expansion: the original Chinese spot was reworked into a concept focused on bao and duck, with additional locations opened in Memorial and Rice Village. Grace typically runs front-of-house and finances while Leo runs the kitchen; they also own an all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue concept and plan more openings. They credit mutual respect and compromise—“My husband is a really good listener. He tries to make me happy, so he does everything I want,” Grace says, laughing—and Leo sums up their partnership bluntly: “Happy wife, happy life!”" - Brittany Britto Garley
"Many area restaurants offer duck, but few have had the immediate success that Duck N Bao experienced after its initial opening. The restaurant’s calling card lies within its name. The whole Beijing duck is barbecued until crisp and comes with traditional fixings like pancakes, duck sauce, soup, cucumbers, and scallions. But don’t sleep on other mains like tea leaf pork ribs, stir-fried lotus root, whole steamed fish, and its diner-favorite soup dumplings. Diners can also fulfill their Beijing duck fix at Duck N Bao’s other locations in Memorial and Rice Village." - Lane Gillespie
