"Based in Castleberry Hill, this vegan cottage bakery owned by Atarah Johnson creates made-to-order cakes, cupcakes, pies, cookies, and even cinnamon rolls for pick-up. Choose from cake flavors like the classic Hummingbird, red velvet, Black Forest, or Funfetti and customize with toppings such as chocolate ganache, sugar cookies, fresh fruit, and edible flowers. Johnson uses bone char-free sugar in her bakes. None of Blackest Berry’s confections contain eggs or dairy. The bakery can also accommodate people with gluten and nut allergies. Eater Atlanta editor Beth McKibben says she thoroughly enjoys the hummingbird and Black Forest cakes from Johnson, along with the cookies and cupcakes. Absolutely adorable and inviting! My fiancé and I were truly welcomed in like family. We tried every scone—each one was delicious, with the lemon being a standout: refreshing and perfectly sweet. Can’t wait to return for custom vegan birthday cakes—this place is truly the vegan gem of the town. Highly recommend!

Google
Dulce Vegan handled our wedding cake and cupcakes and they were phenomenal. Working with Idalys over email was super easy and I really appreciated her flexibility going over pick up options and timing with great detail. We even were able to change our flavor at the last minute due to a perfectly timed strawberry harvest and people were mind blown over the cupcakes and cake. 100% recommend!

Google
Yummy vegan breakfast! So many choices of bread, protein, veggies, and sauces (see captions). The caramel syrup was delicious in my latte.

Google
Dulce Vegan Bakery made our wedding desserts for our fully vegan wedding, and they were a hit! I communicated with Idalys via email, and she helped to accommodate everything we needed, even with a decrease in our guest count for the last-minute changes. Our guests devoured the sweet treats! We decided to do a nontraditional dessert table with multiple options such as chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and red velvet cupcakes. Everything was so delicious! We had to sneak some in our room after the end of the event!

Google
I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE this place!!! Highly recommend their Biscuit sandwich with the vegan cheese, black eye pea breakfast patty (which is still pretty mind blowing 🤯 ) , and jelly (I don’t care too much for the egg) . I’m so glad I tried this place before reading these misleading reviews because it’s truly a gem 🙌🏾 I find a reason to drive 2hrs just to come here for my biscuit. The baked goods are YUMMY as well😋😋😋😋

Google
The cinnamon rolls were absolutely delicious—sweet, soft, and perfectly fluffy. My only critique would be the sandwich, which, while tasty, felt a bit too dense. Growing up, my mom always reminded me to chew my food and not just inhale it. In this case, you'd definitely want to chew, not just to get through the sandwich, but to truly enjoy its flavors.

Google
Cute place and chill vibes. Staff was really sweet and helpful explaining the menu items. They don’t have many gluten free baked goods readily available but I’m sure you can order some. The cinnamon rolls are giant but they don’t keep them warm so it takes away from the dine in experience.

To start off our experience here was nothing short of pleasant, however there were a few down sides to our visit. The first is there's limited parking, we ended up parking at the Valero across the street from the bakery in order to visit, so either come early or just prepare to park at the gas station. The second is Cashless payments, for those who don't know they do not accept any Cash payments (tips are the only exception lol) they DO have TAP & PAY if you all were wondering so that's a plus. Alright now here's my slight complaint, nothing too major but still. The medium pumpkin latte coffee was a bit small for it to be a medium (12oz cups) in total the coffee was $5.85 + $0.60 for the oat milk & $0.75 for the pumpkin, however it was still a tasty coffee. The Cheese grits cup was more like a cheese grit block lol I thought they were going to be more on the creamy side of at least loose to where I could stir em up but that wasn't the case. I'm not able to tell you all how they taste since I never ate em, I personally don't like grit chunks. The bacon egg & cheese sandwich wasn't the best, in my personal opinion it lacked soul/flavor however that Sausage egg and cheese on the biscuit bread is worthy of second purchase. The cinnamon rolls were pretty decent as well, I like em better than Cinnaholic's cinnamon rolls. Is it worth a second visit? Yes we'd definitely come back for their pastries and the Sausage egg and cheese sandwich.

Yelp
We tried the chicken sandwich, grits, tofu scramble, cupcakes, brownies and a few lattes - delish! - Food is well seasoned and nice temp - Desserts are rich and so, so satisfying - Lattes missed our customizations but still hit the spot - Service is friendly and adds a personal service-touch that makes you feel taken care of - Fun and bright aesthetic - Trendy neighborhood, parking can be limited

Yelp
Always delicious!! I love coming by to support them!! Black and LGBTQ owned, love to see it. Apart from that, it's also vegan and VERY VERY GOOD! I got my usual vegan sausage cheese biscuit sandwich with a cappuccino and lavender sweetener with soy milk. It's easy to order in advance too. I have the order website added to my home screen as a bookmark to make it easier. Always good vibes

Yelp
Guys, you won't believe this place I found while visiting from Arizona! A friend recommended it, and wow, it did not disappoint. I brought my 7-year-old and we had the most amazing time. We shared some incredible food, and I treated myself to a hot lavender latte - so delicious! The burrito was an absolute masterpiece, perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. And let me tell you, as a proud carnivore, it was everything I could have hoped for. The cupcake was unbelievably moist and just the right amount of sweet, while my son couldn't get enough of the cookie. The service was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was just perfect - comfortable and quiet. We loved it so much that we made sure to stop by again on our way back to the airport. This place is a gem!

Yelp
This vegan and vegetarian haven is a dream come true! Indulge in sweet treats, wholesome meals, and top-notch coffee. My personal favorite is the Black Bean Sweet Potato Patty Salad with Quinoa, but everything I've tried has been delicious. The peaceful atmosphere and lovely scenery make it the perfect spot for a relaxing breakfast or brunch.

Yelp
I've stopped by this bakery from time to time for the past 3 years and I am never disappointed. The staff is always so welcoming and always answer all of my questions with ease. Everything I've tried has been amazing this far. All the cupcakes, scones, chai tea, unicorn tea, breakfast burrito, and the green goddess. If I had to pick my favorite item I'd say you can't go wrong with the green goddess! I am dedicated from vegan but I love this bakery. So vegan or not this is worth a try.

Yelp
Only available seating was 3 window bar stools. It looked like there was construction or renovation happening in the regular dining area; it was blocked off. We arrived a little after 2 and the inventory was pretty low. Only a couple of vanilla cupcakes, a cheesecake, a few (all same flavor) 'cake in cup' and 1 cinnamon roll. However the service was friendly and the pastries were delicious. So I'd suggest going early and ordering to-go. Also only paid street parking available in the area.

Yelp
We bought two cakes from Dulce during a family reunion here in Atlanta. We needed something everyone could enjoy, and Dulce offered vegan cakes, custom decorated. Both cakes were beautiful, and both were delicious. Service was *very* friendly and prices more than reasonable. OK, we also got a scone on an impulse buy while we were picking up the cake; it was amazing too...

Yelp
I have celiac disease and this bakery was recommended to me: it did not disappoint! Not only did they have plenty of options, but their cupcakes are fully customizable. The very friendly employee offered recommendations, and I went with her suggestion: a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting, add strawberry filling- she was right- it tasted exactly like a chocolate covered strawberry! The cafe is cozy and welcoming, we will definitely be back!

Yelp
I've been a patron of this restaurant for years now! I used to be 100% vegan and would come more often. But even though I'm no longer plant based, I still really enjoy their goods! The sandwiches may look small but they always fill me up and have me feeling superrr satisfied. I enjoy the biscuit sandwiches and the green goddess bagel a lot! I'm also a fan of their baked sweets (cupcakes and scones especially). Definitely worth trying out! They have a wide selection to choose from.

Yelp
The food I got was okay, I don't think I'd go back though. It felt like something that would be better to just cook at home.

Yelp
While walking and checking out this Kirkwood neighborhood I'm always in the mood for a sweet treat and although I'm not vegan I do find that vegan food and baked goods are good. So I tried a mini chocolate chip lavender scone I do have to say this was soft and moist but I didn't taste much lavender so the lavender could have been very light to my palette, anyway I had just caught Dulce opening so they were still bringing other items out and back there working hard in the kitchen and I just eaten so that's all that I purchased from them but I did want to share my thoughts about them as I will come back for another visit. Support vegan!!!!

Yelp
Love this place! Not only are their sweets delicious, but their coffee is genuinely my favorite coffee in ATL.

Yelp
As a vegan I've been wanting to try this place forever! Parkings a little tricky. I ordered online for pickup so was able to just put hazards on and run inside. Food came out quickly! The unicorn latte was Amazing!! Although the flower petals work more aesthetically than actually chewing in practice. The biscuit sandwiches were both a little dry, but the bagel green goddess sandwich was literally one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life!!! Will be going back just for that honestly.
google avatar

Yelp
The unicorn latte with oat milk was so decadent. The pastries looked amazing, looking forward to trying the cinnamon roll I bought!

Yelp
Love this bakery, everything is delicious and amazing! Been going here for years and hope it stays here forever

Yelp
just some disclosures: the store isnt open inside you just walk up to the door and order there. so theres no going inside at all (which was rough in this weather). also as of 2/5/22 the kitchen is closed for ordering so you can only get beverages or choices of 4 pastries. this would have been nice to see posted on instagram or their website for knowledge. i also messaged them on instagram a week ago asking a question with no response so maybe they just arent active on there as much. we got the cookies & milk cake, a latte, and a cookie sandwich that had matcha icing. i think it was gingerbread but couldnt remember what they said it was. the cookies & milk cake was kind of a let down. it was super cold and hard. even after waiting an hour it was still really hard. like an ice cream cake without ice cream... the icing was crunchy and the cake was kinda dry. the cookie sandwich with matcha icing was amazing!! this flavor combo was so good i loved it. the latte was pretty solid as well.

Yelp
Thank you! Thank you to Dulce Vegan Bakery for the most moist and delicious vegan cake! I am in awe of your skills!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely incredible vegan treats! I have been vegan for almost 4 years and eating vegan food for over 10 and tried countless vegan pastries and I have never had cupcakes as moist as these. Vegan pastries tend to be on the drier/crumbly side but these ones have that creamy, moist goodness that I have been missing!! Staff are so welcoming and kind, all are welcome, and the drinks are so fun and yum!! 10/10 will always come here.

Ryan C.

Yelp
They were nice in there but it's more of a coffee shop than a real bakery...They did not have any cakes ready for purchase, not even frozen ones...was told they need 48 hrs for a cake
google avatar

Rachael H.

Yelp
The tofu scramble bowl is mostly potato and is basically a cup, not a bowl. I also got a cupcake which was very very dry and not flavorful. The "egg" and bacon biscuit was okay but also not very flavorful. All in all, it's expensive for what you get.
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
Food was amazing! We had a sandwich and a wrap. Both delicious. Staff super friendly. Great outdoor seating. Cinnamon bun was amazingggg!! Chai also great. Would 100% come back!!!

Yelp
VEGAN! YES please!! I've never had a full vegan plate but I'm now in love with vegan eggs and bacon. Walking in on a Sunday this cafe is packed with a line coming out the door. We heard they had all the types of milk (regular, lactose free, soy, oat, almond, cashew, etc) so we had to stay. My lavender latte with almond milk was consumed so quick that I had to order another to-go! With only seven tables inside it is really hard to get a seat on a busy day but we lucky were able to snag one. We sat and enjoyed the buzz of about 30 people's conversations around us. The food came out quick but when I ordered I heard they were running out of many breakfast items (because they were super busy!!). Lucky I was able to order their breakfast sandwich which again amazing! Definitely will be coming again when I pass through Atlanta!

Yelp
the food was amazing, the customer service was amazing, and i really like the aesthetic of the place. definitely recommend all vegans to check this place out.

Yelp
Used to come here before the pandemic. Was great. Tried to order cake and pies last month. They were completely incompetent at selling either. I don't know how a business can be so bad at their business. New management? This place unfortunately won't last much longer.

Yelp
I got the Black Bean Sweet Potato Patty Bowl and Raw Blueberry Pomegranate Cheesecake. Both were delicious. The Black Bean Sweet Potato Patty Bowl was yummy. It was clean food so I didn't feel gross or heavy after eating it. I was here while travelling so it was exactly what I needed. I also really like avocado in my dishes so it was a perfect addition. I liked the nut base of the cheesecake which reminds me of Sanctuary Bistro's cheesecake in the Bay Area, which I'm a huge fan of. This was one of my favorite spots in Atlanta so I highly recommend to all my fellow vegans as well as nonvegans.

Yelp
I don't know what all these reviews are on here going on and on about. Lol it seems this review section has been PLAGUED by vainglorious, self absorbed, entitled KARENS. God forbid karens gotta walk a few steps from street parking this is ATLANTA there's never parking. Anyway, I get a breakfast from here literally everyday. The biscuits are to DIE FOR and clearly hand made. I also get the bagel breakfast sandwiches and the aioli sauce is worth fighting over to where I need to get extra cause it SMACKS. The grits and potatoes also mf SMACK. Billie eilish got her cake from here and it makes sense why. Then again Billie eilish isn't a Karen complaining about the most irrelevant things lol. Anyways. I'll be back tomorrow for my next sandwich

Yelp
I'm not sure what happened to this previously delightful vegan bakery and cafe. When it first opened years ago, my spouse and I were frequent customers. The cinnamon rolls and slices of cake were always delicious. Over the years, the customer service has been inconsistent depending on which employee was at the counter that particular day. The original owner / chef consistently worked to make the place better and better. The newish (it's been several years now) management seems to have just let the place go. Over the past few years when I've gone to the bakery, Dulce Vegan has had so few items available in the case, I've wondered how they could continue to stay open. My spouse called in advance of our trip yesterday to see what type of cakes they had that day available by the slice. She was told they no longer sell cake by the slice. Sadly, Dulce Vegan is no longer on our list of vegan bakeries and cafes that we support or recommend.

Yelp
This is a long story about how I lit $50 on fire and disappointed a lot of people. I needed a vegan cake to celebrate a friend's birthday. Not that the circumstances change the result, but this celebration was the accumulation of people flying in from across the country. Residing in Atlanta, my task was to procure the cake; the linchpin of any birthday festivity. No pressure right? So I turned to the web and discovered Dulce Vegan. Surely a restaurant with such high marks across a myriad of websites would not disappoint... Ordering the cake required a visit to the location, no issue there. However, I was shocked to discover there was no design book as is customary when choosing a cake. So without the aid of a design book, I took to Yelp to show the employee past designs that I liked via the photos of other Yelpers (cheers). Notes were taken, payment was processed, and I left the bakery with a sigh of relief. On the morning of the festivities, I arrived to pick up a cake that was only recognizable by the size and wording that I had chosen. It was the most basic cake with a color scheme that offended all sensibility of good taste. Quite different than what I discussed weeks earlier with the employee. To their credit, the cake was shockingly dense. Being the day of the event and having paid weeks earlier, I had no other recourse but to take the loss on the design and hope this was the most delicious cake to ever bless humanity, as other reviewers had stated (paraphrasing of course). The employee at Dulce Vegan was nice enough to include a single birthday candle and a cake server, as well as a box that did not fit the size of the cake and required careful handling as the lid did not close. Alas, it was less of a blessing and more of a curse. The feedback from both vegans and non-vegans was that the cake was bland & dry. Less of a cake and more of a bread, in both sweetness and texture. The icing was savory in a bad way, one person likened it to Crisco. As you might imagine, there were plenty of leftovers. Trying to get this sent home with someone was like playing a game of "not-it". As I expressed my contrition to everyone, sympathies rained down so heavily that I drowned in the disappointment that was so palpable throughout our group. The End.

Yelp
Dulce has easily become my favorite restaurant in the city! This cute restaurant is very quaint but packs a big punch when it comes to the flavor of their dishes. I have recently adopted a more vegetarian lifestyle & this place certainly is tops in its class of vegetarian/vegan cuisine. Their salads are fresh & very filling. I have been 3 times already & each time I've ordered the Black Bean & Sweet Potato Patty Bowl. This did is so flavorful!!! The mixture of the black beans & sweet potato surprisingly tastes like they belong together. With the sweet & savory flavors. But the addition of the mango salsa is what really takes this dish over the top. The manga are really fresh & sweet & you can tell it's made fresh daily & if not they surely fooled me! I can honestly say I've found a place I can come to that aligns with my new lifestyle & tastes so darn good too! My tastebuds are truly happy!!!

Yelp
So...my fellow vegan colleague casually mentioned that she was going to take her planning period to make a cupcake run. Now look, you can't tease me like that! Clearly, you are speaking the language of my sweet tooth and my heart! Well...she returned with a beautiful cardboard carton with two delectable flavors of chocolate and vanilla, but I decided to wait until I got home and settled to test out these babes. In the back of my mind, I had hoped they would not be too dry, but to my wonderful amazement they were tiny bits of sunshine in my mouth. How many bites did it take for me to eat two cupcakes? The world may never know because I can't remember.

Just hopping on to rate Dulce 5 Stars again... HUGE shout out to Hayes and the entire Dulce team who always remember my wife and I, AND our allergies, AND our orders. Thanks for being just a delicious extension to our family y'all

Yelp
This is the vegan place where dreams come true! I've been making my way through some of Atlanta's best vegan joints and I have to say that from the ambiance of the restaurant to the friendliness of the employees, and of course the delicious food- Dulce Vegan is at the top of the list! The first thing I tried from them was the Green Goddess sandwich with the kale salad as my side. I ordered it to go, as I had to be at work. Parking was a little tricky, but can't fault a place for that. My order was ready by the time I got there, a short 10 minutes after I called it in. I ordered an iced coffee with soy milk as well, which was delicious. The coffee was strong, but not bitter. The sandwich was great too! I wish I could have eaten it there because driving while eating was not the ideal way to experience such an amazing sandwich, but I managed. The kale salad was also great, it had pecans in it, which was different, but I enjoyed it a lot. I decided to dine in for breakfast the following morning. It wasn't too busy, as it was late morning. I ordered the breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel with kale, tomato, "egg", and chipotle aioli-- it was fantastic! I was worried the "egg" would be an off-putting texture, but it was really great. And basically anything that has chipotle aioli is an A+ in my book. I ordered an chocolate Oreo cupcake on the way out and it was phenomenal. I actually wish I had tried another flavor as well, but that will have to be for next time I visit atlant!

Yelp
This is my first visit to a vegan bakery and it was wonderful! Also, I'm not a vegan, so everyone should give this place a try. From their website, "Dulce Vegan is always a 100% vegan bakery and café. We also specialize in allergy friendly baked goods and offer gluten free, soy free, and nut free options". We visited on a Saturday afternoon. We had a difficult time finding Dulce. The trees and Google maps didn't help. There also doesn't seem to be parking, so we street parked a block away, but we're not complaining! They have a few tables outside and people were hanging out with their pets. The interior is minimally decorated, but there's a beautiful wall of plants and a few pieces of art to check out as well. We were greeted by friendly people behind the counter who offered us a menu, after we mentioned it was our first visit. We were a little confused by mentions on the menu of "mozzarella" and other seemingly non-vegan items, but my friend was relieved to hear, it's really vegan versions of those items. The staff was diverse and knowledgeable. They have a water station, where you can serve yourself. I ordered the Black bean sweet potato bowl and a macchiato. It included kale, quinoa, a patty of sweet potato and black beans, and mango salsa. It was so good and I felt good after eating it. I don't recommend the macchiato, it was kinda small. They also sell kombucha made in Atlanta. Then, I ate a banana cupcake with chocolate frosting and I only want to eat that for the rest of my life. I am absolutely returning to Dulce in the near future!

Trevian S.

Yelp
The food is good but they frequently dont have things and/or arent open. Vegan places are already wishy washy enough with their hours but with this specific establishment, having ingredients available has been an issue the entire time if been frequenting it. But the breakfast sandwich with jam is delicious and customer service in person is cool soo 3/5 stars.

Yelp
Vegan Review: Over the last three days I have visited Dulce twice! I came here one morning with my son because I was in the mood for a vegan breakfast sandwich. I ordered the Vegan Sausage Egg (Soy) Cheese biscuit. I absolutely loved the biscuit! The biscuit stayed together really well and the vegan sausage stayed together long enough for me to devour the sandwich. Today I brought my wife in for some cake slices to go. We got the Vegan Chocolate Mint Slice, Lemon Raspberry Slice, and a chocolate cupcake with strawberry icing! All were delicious and moist! I have found another Vegan spot in the A for my sweet tooth!

Yelp
Pros: Tasty Healthy Cons: Slow Way over priced the scone. (Ate half in photo) day one 2.15 plus biscuit/gravy 10. HELL NO. 15 with tax / tip. Never again. It's a double income no kids throw you money at restaurants rather than make your own at home kind of place. It is SUPER tasty but not enough for the price.

Yelp
I thought for sure I've written a review for this place but apparently I didn't. Well the time has come to give my two cents. I like Dulce Vegan. The food is yummy; not your typical boring vegan food. They're more creative. I've been here a few times before; trying their black bean and quinoa bowl was amazing and ordering a biscuit with tempeh bacon biscuit with tomato and avocado on my second visit which was huge and delicious. On my most recent visit, I wanted to order a cake there for my birthday so I inquired about tasting their flavors. Unfortunately you can't try them out because the flavors change daily so the girl told me I could purchase a few cupcakes instead. I got the sunbutter chocolate banana, vanilla and lemon cupcake. The sunbutter and lemon cupcakes were day olds so I got them for a discounted price. The total for 3 was $8. I like the cake part but the icing tasted funny. You know when you're trying something and there's a lingering smell afterwards? Like that. So I'm not sure if the baked goods are prepared in the small kitchen. Probably so cause the place is small. That was my only problem with them. Other than that, the people in there are always nice. Sitting can be tricky if you plan to eat in or have a big party; it's limited. And parking can be limited too as there's only street. I usually have a nice little walk to the restaurant after finding a space but I don't mind cause the food and treats are worth it

Yelp
Finally made it Dulce last week and was pleasantly surprised. My wife (vegan) and I (omnivore) stopped by for lunch first, bakery second. They had a decent selection of lunch items and I chose the hippy bagel and my wife had the black bean burger. We shared the apple fennel slaw and kale salad as sides and both were good. The lunch was fresh and filling and would try another visit. I think the lunch menu is seasonal. Onto the bakery... The glass display of bakery goods was unimpressive and not labeled or priced but it wasn't gonna stop us from taking some treats home. Fresh cupcakes we picked were vanilla vanilla, lemon, cookies and cream, and earl grey. I'm no cupcake expert but these were great. The earl grey was the most unique and was the best. As far as ambiance it felt like a typical coffee shop with cool art on the wall and wall bench seating and cool music playing on the speakers. To sum it up it had good food, cupcakes, and coffee. Keep up the good work and thanks for different options!

Yelp
This place was hard to find for me. Maybe I was too anxious, but the chef (I never got her name), was so patient and pointed me in the right direction. I came early afternoon and I was greeted right away. I ordered the famous breakfast sandwich, a double vanilla cupcake and a cookies and cream cupcake. My total was $14. I thought that was more than reasonable. The breakfast sandwich is a build your own type of deal. I got 2 sausage patties (homemade), kale, tomato, chipotle aioli on a warm plain bagel. This sandwich was nothing short of delicious. The flavor of the sausage patty was spot on! I was impressed by the presentation too, and they aren't stingy with the fixings! The cookies and cream cupcake was just ok, BUT I have a special place in my heart for that double vanilla cupcake. It was moist, creamy and full of flavor. I love that it wasn't super sweet either. Now.. my only issue with this place is their hours. I wish they opened earlier because I would come by EVERYDAY before work. If you want some good affordable vegan food, you should check this place out!

Yelp
One of my favorite vegan place by far I've been vegan almost 5 years. I've yet to find a breakfast sandwich like yours I literally dream about it!!! It's one of the reasons I want to move to Atlanta!!! It was so good and me and my friends were treated so kindly!! I love little cruel free shops like this. Beautiful vibes!

Yelp
This vegan bakery has so many delicious treats. Don't let the term "Vegan" detour you from this place. My favorite thing here are the Cinnamon Buns. The texture is like a combination of a cinnamon roll and doughnut. The dough is thick and chewy. Omg - daydreaming of these cinnamon rolls right now. I've never been to the actual bakery but have tried their food at many local festivals and events. *I wonder if they can make a Bread Pudding out of these cinnamon rolls? I would purchase a whole pan!

Yelp
This review should've been posted some time ago. **Disclaimer: I have a 6 month old so writing reviews has now become a delicacy! As a recently (1 month) acquired vegan I wanted to try a place where I wouldn't be tempted by my old underwater creatures and wing friends! Sunday Crowd: The Sunday crew was packed. The moment we arrived there was a line. Location: This bakery is located in a pretty busy location and parking can be a nightmare. Otherwise the location is cutely nestled in an up and coming area! Food: I really enjoyed my items. The only thing that really didn't tickle my palate was the cupcake. I just can't rock vegan cupcakes quite yet. Which is a disappointment because I am a cupcake LOVER! The lavender scone was delightful and the bagel, granola, and salad were as well. Overall the customer service was good and I'd return to this trendsetting spot.

Yelp
When I was craving for something sweet, vegan, gluten free, & soy free, Dulce Vegan Bakery and Cafe came up. I looked at all the photos on Yelp and Instagram. My stomach cried and have been craving for days. Today, I finally made the trip after hiking. I arrived just in time for lunch at 11 am. Like many people have stated, there is only street parking. I didn't mind walking for several minutes to get there. I parked down the street near a school. Honestly, Dulce Vegan is hard to spot when driving. I had to use Google Maps and did the walk option after I parked to find it. It was smaller than I thought. I really thought there would be more options for desserts. What drew me to the location was actually their desserts. I really wanted a vegan donut but there were none. Just cupcakes and scones. Plus nothing on display was gluten free. I asked about it. They said the cheesecake they made is gluten free and made of cashew cheese. Hmmm, I'll take that. Plus it's soy free! I ordered the Black Bean Sweet Potato Pattie Bowl which is yumminess on a bed of kale and quinoa with peach relish, avocado, and spicy tahnini dressing. OMG, it is sooooooooo good, packed full of flavors. I'm not a huge quinoa fan but the quinoa was only in small amounts. The peach relish is what made the dish stand out for me. I usually find kale bitter but not here either. I took a chance on this dish because the photos online made it drool worthy. My daughter got the Green Goddess Sandwich (herb pesto, mozzarella, herb cashew cheese, kale, avocado served on homemade everything bagel, no it's not gluten free), with a side of pickled dill cucumbers. She said it was delicious. You will not miss the meat. She was unable to finish the pickled dill cucumbers and I took a bite. Very good! I'm thinking that maybe I am able to imitate it at home. It is a very casual place. A pitcher of water is in front for you to get your own. When food is ready, they bring it out to you. When you're done, you take your dishes to the front under the water pitcher and put them in the black bin. I debated whether or not to give 4 or 5 stars but in the end, I concluded to 5 stars. A few things that were stopping me were the location/hours and thought it would have more options for dessert haha. I changed my mind and said, not their fault of any of that. Even though desserts were limited, what I had was yummy. Finally I gave in and decided on a 5 because there is no other place quite like Dulce Vegan Cafe and Bakery. Therefore, the 5 stars. 125/2017

Yelp
Dulce Vegan has become my Saturday morning brunch haven. I LOVE it here! So casual and no-fuss, but they do what they do VERY well which is: vegan breakfast sandwiches, pastries and coffee a.k.a. everything you need to wake you up and start your Saturday morning off right! I can't remember the name of the first breakfast sandwich I used to order here (it's pictured in the photos) but my new favorite is the Kirkwood breakfast sandwich--it's leafy greens, cucumbers, avocados and the MOST delicious vegan cream cheese all on an Everything bagel. I also add tempeh bacon to this deliciousness and it takes it WAY over the top. I love that it fills me up so much but also tastes so healthy and light. The coffee at Dulce is so delicious. I only order the "house" nothing fancy, just tasty, STRONG coffee. My favorite thing about Dulce though is their Cinnamon Roll. I am not ashamed to tell you, my Yelp friends, that this cinnamon roll is easily in the top three rolls I've ever had in my LIFE. And this is a HUGE compliment because while everyone else is infatuated over cakes and the ever trendy and cute CUPCAKES...give me a cinnamon roll or a doughnut ANY DAY! Plus, my grandmother has owned a successful bakery for over 50yrs and I grew up not only eating her FANTASTIC cinnamon rolls but I actually sat in my bassinet and "goo-goo-ga-ga'ed" on her table while she rolled them out every morning so I feel a special connection to those rolls. The thing I love most about her rolls is the same thing I love about Dulce's, the RAISINS. Most people leave those out and that is NO GOOD! Listen, I need my raisins and I also need my roll soft but not too soft..it must have bite. I need my glaze sweet but not syrupy and frosting-like because it's a cinnamon roll and not a cupcake. Anyway, let's just say, I have standards for my rolls and Dulce's meets them ALL. I would come here every.day.of.my.life for a cinnamon roll if my wife didn't forbid it. NOTE: Dulce is located in the uber-cute Kirkwood neighborhood and sometimes parking can be an issue depending on when you go. The very popular La Petit Marche is right next door to Dulce and most of their customers take up the attached parking lot. BUT, there is a public library across the street and if they're not open at the time, you can park in their lot.

Yelp
The food was pretty good, but I didn't like that prices weren't easily accessible. Also, I was underwhelmed by the lack of variety of bakery items. I mean bakery is in the name and they only had scones, 3 cake flavors, cupcakes (very basic: chocolate/chocolate, vanilla/vanilla, vanilla/chocolate) and 1 cinnamon roll. It's not a bad place, but I've had better vegan food and was not impressed with the bakery. I was really looking forward to having a vegan bakery I can frequent when my sweet tooth awakens. I ordered a bagel with hummus, avocado, bean sprouts, and tomatoes. It came with a side of quinoa tabouleh. As dessert I had a slice of lemon raspberry cake.

Yelp
A quaint little cafe tucked away in a small shopping strip. I've been getting into vegan food lately and decided to try this place out. It's a pretty tight place but functional. The decor is eclectic and very hipster, reminiscent of what you might find in New York City or downtown LA. I ordered a cafe au lait and a few of their scones. I liked that they had a variety of milks from which to choose. I believe they had soy, almond, coconut, and hemp. They might've had a couple more options. I went with the hemp milk for the cafe au lait and it tasted great. I can definitely see myself ordering hemp milk again. The scones are amazing here. I ordered the lemon, chocolate chip lavender, and orange ginger. All 3 were delicious! And at $3 each, I felt it was fairly priced. Plus, the scones were pretty big. So for a coffee and 3 scones, the total was about $13. Had this been Starbucks, it would've easily been $20. I definitely recommend this place for a vegan twist, quirky atmosphere, and fair prices. Also, it's great to support local businesses.

Yelp
As much as I want to give this place five stars I can't. The baked goods have barely any flavor and are super dry. They taste like Betty Crocker cake mix just vegan. I expected more being this place is a specialty vegan spot that they would have amazing vegan baked goods but I was sadly mistaken. I can say the breakfast biscuit I had was amazing! I would go back for that, and the customer service was great. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I just hope they change their recipe to something better... I ended up just trashing the four baked goods I bought (HUGE waste of money).

Yelp
Disappointed :( Staff was very nice and helpful. Very clean in the cafe it's self. I went here on my birthday (today) and my vegan rainbow cake slice was super disappointing. It was very dry and just not as an exciting bite as I thought it would be. Following you all on IG I was expecting a life changing cake and it wasn't.

Yelp
I feel wishy washy about this place... I heard wonderful things about the cupcake options as a vegan. Although I'm not huge on cupcakes, I am a cake fiend and saw they often have cake slices. I managed to find time in the day to make the 30 minute drive to the Bakery one day, really wanting a cake slice, but alas...no cake for the day. What I did end up with was a carrot cake cupcake + lemon scone (almost daily items) and a chocolate sunbutter cheesecake (rotational item, like the cakes). I did not try any of the savory food options. To me, they look unappealing in pictures. The service was pretty nice. They seemed busy and doing a lot, but they were professional. --The Chocolate Sunbutter Cheesecake was a pretty awesome consolation prize for not having the cake I craved. It was absolutely indulgent and amazing. They had a raw berry cheesecake in the fridge as well, which I know for a fact has been there for a 4th day (thank you, social media). That was kind of a turn-off to see non-fresh items. It makes me wonder how long the cupcakes and scones are out for. --The Carrot Cake Cupcake was just okay. Really nothing special... Not "dry" but definitely not moist and sensational. Just okay. It's no cake. --The Lemon Scone is worth trying! Very sweet though. I have never had a scone, as I always assumed they are rock-hard and dry. But they are actually very soft inside. Think of a sweet biscuit. Yeah. You want this. Pros: Unique varieties of vegan sweets (good for a transitioning vegan). Calm, quiet work environment (think Starbucks feel). Large range of hours. Cons: Limited, street-side parking (anyone else get stressed by not having a lot?). Hard to spot the shop as you drive by. Baked goods not always fresh daily. Limited menu. Lack of reliability in the menu - ie if you want a cake slice one day real bad, you may be S.O.L. because they just won't have it.
