The 33 Best Restaurants in Kansas City | Eater

"Although Earl’s opened in 2022, it’s already become a neighborhood fixture in East Brookside. Part of that has to do with the restaurant’s casual vibes and lived-in design, which lands somewhere between Maine oyster bar and Revolutionary War museum. Post up at the charming zinc bar to try a gargantuan shrimp cocktail, sip a frozen gin and tonic, and chat with the shuckers while they pile up the freshest oysters in town. Vibe check: Earl’s is tiny and perpetually booked. Reserve well in advance or arrive early to nab a seat at the bar." - Liz Cook

The 22 Best Restaurants In Kansas City, Missouri 2024

"Even though you’re one state over from Tornado Alley, this busy seafood bar will do its best to convince you that you’re on the shores of Martha’s Vineyard. Start with their rotating crudo (and hope for the scallops with radish and cucumber) and a frozen gin and tonic before digging into a shrimp cocktail and a dozen of the best oysters in town. The narrow restaurant has extremely nautical decor and a long bar where you can watch the staff shuck mollusks all night. Just know you’ll need to book Earl’s weeks in advance." - ryan bernsten

I’ve lived in KC most of my life and this was one of the best meals I’ve had in this city. Atmosphere feels like you are in a coastal pub and the food is some of the best seafood I’ve had anywhere, including the coasts. Executed perfectly and with incredible flavors you won’t be disappointed. Service was stellar and only added to the experience. It will be a regular in my rotation for the foreseeable future. Can you get good/fresh seafood in this city? Absolutely. It’s at Earl’s.

We were in the area and last minute decided to try Earl’s Place. We didn’t have a reservation and when we arrived at 5pm on a Thursday it was packed but we were able to secure a small table in the bar area. Love the vibe and the atmosphere. My husband and I each enjoyed a cocktail, then ordered some appetizers, the shrimp cocktail and the hush puppies. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and of a generous size! And the hush puppies, not your ordinary hush puppy! So good with the hot honey, butter and presentation. We enjoyed the quick stop here and the appetizers. We plan to go back but we will make a reservation ahead of time. We’re excited to go back to try the entrees and the fresh oysters!

Take a mental vacation to the Hamptons in the middle of the country at Earl’s. Your favorite dive bar but with high end cocktails, fresh oysters, great service and a relaxed, historic east coast atmosphere. Very approachable menu with both classic and more adventurous options, seafood and else wise. We had three varieties of fresh oysters shucked and served perfectly and a seafood BLT special. Unique cocktails and a high end whisky collection-shout out to Sierra for her excellent service and recommendations. We got lucky with a walk in for Saturday lunch but the space is limited-highly recommend reservations. Might have a new favorite spot!

Google
We had an wonderful dinner for our anniversary. Cocktails were fantastic, oysters were amazing, gumbo was the best I ever had. Our entrees were great too. I felt like I was on vacation! I loved the laid back atmosphere. It is a small bistro like venue. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were so friendly and hospitable. We will definitely be back. I suggest reservations in advance, but they do take walking, you might have to wait if there are not seats available.

Amazing menu, quality and service! We enjoyed our best meal when visiting KC at Earl’s Premier. We enjoyed the fresh oysters, hush puppies, amazing clam chowder, crab cake club, shrimp linguine lunch special, lobster roll and wagyu burger. It was all excellent. Beautiful service and design.

Earl’s: The Kind of Place That Ruins Other Restaurants for You Had my family and friends at Earl’s last month, and honestly, we’re all still talking about it like it was a destination wedding. Our server was phenomenal — friendly, fast, and somehow managed to remember everything without writing it down. I don’t know if she’s part magician or just powered by espresso and good vibes, but she crushed it. The food? Let’s just say it flirted with Michelin-star quality without acting all pretentious about it. Every dish was creative, delicious, and made with actual care — you could taste it. It’s the kind of meal where you casually start planning your next visit before you’ve even finished dessert. If you’re looking for a place that’s special, unique, and seriously good — go to Earl’s. Highly recommended. Just leave me a table.

Google
Perfect night to eat on the covered patio. Delicious, fresh fish with small but delicious menu. Also have an oyster bar with fresh oysters daily. Loved the shrimp cocktail with 2 sauces and was fantastic. Best shrimp cocktail I’ve had in a long time. Enjoyed the red curry squash soup that had a little heat and fresh crab. The crab cakes was good but nothing special. Love the fresh battered cod and fries. Great food and good service.

Mile Hi

Google
I don't care where you live in the KC Metro, EARLS PREMIER is worth that drive! What a gem! The whole vibe was sensational. The hostess (Jennifer) was very accommodating and hooked us up with a nice table even after I failed to make a reservation. Our server (Beth) was very patient and thoroughly went over the menu as we were first time visitors. The oysters and crab legs were divine! And I especially loved the horseradish sauce, I'm sure it had to be an in house recipe. Can't wait to return to try more dishes. The desserts that passed us by looked especially amazing!

Yelp
On a whim, I decided to stop by Earls yesterday. It was early, and they had just opened. I was immediately greeted by the hostess and proceeded to take a seat at the bar. A few minutes after being seated, I was warmly welcomed by Shaina, who was incredibly sweet and attentive. Feeling relaxed, I browsed the menu and quickly spotted the mussels, which caught my attention. I ordered a non-alcoholic Guinness to accompany them--even though I'm not usually a beer drinker, I enjoy it with mussels. To my pleasant surprise, my meal arrived promptly. The mussels were plump and flavorful, and the sauce was exceptional. I can already tell this will be my new lunchtime favorite! Overall, the service was outstanding, and the food was absolutely delicious. Sincerely, Louis Gutierrez

Yelp
Haven't even gotten to dinner yet. They brought me a bowl of bouillabaisse to start for my birthday after great cocktails. So cozy, so friendly and they are right there when we need them. Kinda built our own seafood tower on the way soon. I'd be shocked if it isn't awesome. I was right. The vastness of the outstandingness was huge. Eat here.

Yelp
Recently visited Earl's Premier and absolutely fell in love with it! The place has a charming, rustic fisherman's cabin vibe. Upon entering, you're greeted by a bar with an impressive drink selection, and the dining area ahead feels cozy. The menu is short but thoughtfully curated, offering unique options. We started with oysters, clam chowder, and chilled sweet corn vichyssoise--each dish was fantastic. For the main course, we had the oyster BLT sandwich and Marylander Club Jr., both served to perfection. For dessert, we indulged in the chocolate tart, which was the perfect sweet ending. This spot is a true gem for seafood lovers in KC with great ambiance and service!

Yelp
What a cool spot if you are looking for fresh oysters. This is the old Chai Shai spot (RIP ), but they did an awesome job remodeling the inside to feel like you're somewhere on the East coast eating freshly shucked oysters. If you have to get one thing, you have to start with the frozen G&T, so good and definitely worth however many calories are in it. They have changing selection of oysters from both coasts, all were delicious and very fresh. We also had a cup of the clam chowder which we thought was awesome, as well as the fried clam strips. For our mains we had the lobster roll which was on point, as well as the fish and chips and mussels. Mussels were just ok but everything else was very tasty. This is a great spot if you are looking for fresh oysters paired with a nice drink. They do have a patio which will be fun on those nice summer evenings. Final review: 5/5 stars

Yelp
The good: -the patio is such a vibe, it was the perfect weather and such a great space -frozen gin & tonic, do i need to say anything else? -crab bisque was the soup of the day and was to die for The not so good: -the fish and chips were fine but the breading on the fish was just too crispy and flavorless for me -our waitress was awkward to the point it was a little uncomfortable

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the frozen gin and tonic here! The seafood selection is always delicious and the servers are tremendously friendly and attentive. From the quirky indoor bar to the fantastic outdoor patio, there isn't a single bad seat at Earl's!

Yelp
We went to Earl's on Friday night and were able to get seats on the patio--we were a party of 6. It is enclosed for the season and heated so we were quite comfortable. (Reservations recommended, especially for dinner.) My husband had Guinness on tap, others had drinks including an Old Fashioned, a margarita, wine, iced tea, and soft drinks. Drinks came promptly and we started with appetizers. We ordered a variety of East coast and West coast oysters, (raw) salmon crudo, and crab legs out of the shell. They were all excellent, but my favorite was the crab with drawn butter. For entrees, I ordered the crab cakes. My husband got fish & chips (cod), our daughter got a cheeseburger and fries, our friends got the catch of the day, winter mussels, and the lobster roll. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. My crab cakes were absolutely delicious! I tried my husband's fried cod and I am definitely getting that next time. I have no pictures of the desserts because we started eating them as soon as they came. We got one of each option: vanilla ice cream with sea salt and olive oil, chocolate mousse, and a mini key lime pie with graham cracker base (not a crust). Olive oil and salt on ice cream sounded strange to me, but I tried it am I'm so glad I did. It was delicious. It was served with a section of waffle cone type cookie/garnish, and it tasted good broken off and dipped in the ice cream. My daughter is a chocolate fan and she loved the mousse. My favorite was the key lime. The key lime filling was the best kind of tart, topped with whipped cream and layered on a graham cracker base. All in all, it was a fun, tasty evening. I am already thinking about what I will eat there next time!

Yelp
Ok, ok, I'm sold.. This place was WORTH THE HYPE! The food, the service, the oysters, the clam chowder, the magnolia pudding-- everything we had was simply delicious. Living in the Midwest you can not get oysters fresher than this! Literally it doesn't have a stench and it tastes like I'm sitting by the ocean eating it. The Oysters was definitely a must have 10/10 - order the east coast oysters, they are usually my fav and are less salty. I can not believe how amazing their clam chowder was, that was the most unexpected part. I was so impressed with it that I ordered another bowl - and didn't even get a chance to take a pic!!! It is truly SOO good. The chef special that day was their halibut- this I thought was just ok. The halibut just tasted kinda chewy??? I'm not sure but that didn't define the place for me because I truly came for oysters and the other food was so good it made up for it! Also, the service was super friendly and attentive. The place was kept up nicely and clean. It gets pack really quick, so rsvp or take a risk! All in all, def worth it.

Yelp
We came here for a bachelorette/birthday dinner and were seated outside. The weather was perfect, and there was a nice breeze under the covered patio. Our server was wonderful. She answered all of our questions, and presented the birthday girl with vanilla ice cream topped with a candle at the end of the meal, as well as a champagne toast. We started off the meal sharing a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The girls ordered oysters, the lobster roll, crab cake, and chicken. I ordered the daily fresh catch, which was seared arctic char served with a side of asparagus, broccolini, and tomatoes. Everything was tasty. The arctic char tasted a lot like salmon, and was cooked perfectly, with a very crispy skin. Overall, Earl's Premier is a lovely spot to get some fresh, delicious seafood in KC.

Yelp
Walking in the door of Earl's Premier felt like teleporting to any New England oyster bar. Best oysters I've had in KC, hands down. My partner and I enjoyed 2 of each of each oyster they had... And then ordered another round! Hannah the bartender suggested some awesome white wine to pair with all the seafood. We also adored the JUICY snow crab legs, the shrimp escabeche, and loved the little gem salad (rather Caesar-like, and delicious). Not one item fell flat. Sitting at the bar was a blast.

Yelp
Everything was so great! This was a birthday dinner for myself with my family and I was so impressed. The food, service and outside seating made it all an amazing evening! Will be returning.

Yelp
Honestly the best service and ambiance in my opinion in Kansas City. From the moment you walk in... They are so welcoming and treat you like you are walking into their home. Every employee seems very eager and excited to interact with you and it's just a great energy from the staff. I have traveled a lot, and I am usually a bit unimpressed by restaurants in Kansas City... But this is definitely one I would recommend. The frozen gin and tonic is amazing... And the crabcakes were chefs kiss

Yelp
The space is tight and a little awkward. We did get in with a reservation for late lunch/early dinner. The oysters were very good and fresh but pricey. I was underwhelmed by our entree's. The cocktails were well done.
google avatar

Toni A.

Yelp
These owners have transformed the former chai shai space, keeping the neighborhood vibe but elevating it to cool and hip. The space is cozy. The patio is inviting. The bar is stocked. I came for lunch - it was delicious. The lobster roll was loaded with chunks of lobster. It comes with bacon and I had them hold the bacon and gave it to my friend for her Cobb salad. And the roll was not super wet with mayo. It was between a soft potato bun. The fries were slightly crispy and seasoned. My companion ordered the shrimp Cobb salad. The shrimp were large almost like prawns. Cooked perfectly. It was loaded with veggies and also delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I will be back for drinks and dinner. Earl's is a great spot for date night or dinner with friends. Tip: reservations are a must if you want a table. And sometimes they are booked weeks out for a weekend time slot. I went for lunch during the week.
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
Worth the hype! We made reservations for a Saturday night about 3 weeks out. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived. The ambiance and decor make it feel like a small New England fish house. Our food came out quickly and so delicious. Service was great. We will absolutely be back! What a catch

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and go visit this hidden gem in KC. They specialize in craft cocktails and the freshest oysters you can get in the Midwest. I started with a deliciously refreshing drink called the Garden Gimlin. With notes of cucumber it couldn't have paired better with our oysters. They are known for their frozen cocktails, although I didn't try them, they looked and sounded amazing! We snacked on some fried clam strips to start, so light and crispy. Next we dived right into a 1/2 dozen Blackstone Point's from Maine, a medium sized slightly briney oyster, so good! We also had 1/2 dozen of the Aunt Dotty's from Massachusetts, petite sweets which were our favorites. No cocktail sauce needed for these babies! The staff was well educated on their seafood selections and so friendly! Krista behind the bar gave us some great locals recommendations as well! So far this has been the best stop of our trip. The restaurant truly does transport you to a seaside seafood shack in Maine. The decor is on point, and it really is such a quaint cozy spot with delightful food and service. A must stop in KC!

Yelp
I travel to Kansas City often, and when asking friends for a restaurant recommendations Earl's Premier was always at the top of their list. That said, I knew I had to check them out. Since this is a hotspot, getting a reservation was tricky. We were able to score a mid-week dinner reservations by booking a few weeks in advance. Ambiance - One of the reasons getting reservations can be tricky is because this is a small restaurant. I consider that a plus because I love the coziness. There is also outdoor and bar seating. Food - Sorry! I do not tag the names of the dishes because I waited too long to post this review and forgot. This was my second visit to Earl's Premier, and I've been pleased with what I've ordered and so have my dinner guests. And the portion sizes were reasonable compared to the pricing. Additionally, the cocktails are well-crafted. Service - We received great service both visits. The servers were knowledgeable about the dishes and attentive. Parking - I Ubered to the restaurant both times, but it does seem like parking can be tricky since it's pretty much in the middle of the neighborhood. In conclusion, Earl's Premier lived up to the hype, and I will return.

Yelp
First timer here!! This place was incredible and a great opportunity to get freshly caught fish in the middle of Kansas City! It's one of the only places I'll go... and for a great reason!! The burrata was a delicious mix of sweet and savor and would HIGHLY recommend. coming from a New England resident, I can safely say this lobster roll was delicious and I would 100% get again. Tastes so fresh and real!
google avatar

Yelp
Ugh this place was so good. And such a good value too. We tried the shrimp cocktail, oysters, and Alaskan crab cluster for our appetizers. Everything was 10/10. I think the crab was $28 which is honestly a pretty good deal. You do have to crack it yourself but it's fun as a once in awhile thing. For our meal we split the shrimp po boy and a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was good but the potatoes were too big in it for me personally. The shrimp po boy was reallllllyyyy good. The sauce on it was very rich though so I'm glad I split this as I don't know I could finish the whole thing. Inside is small but they make good use of the space. We did unfortunately get stuck back by the bathroom so there were a lot of people hovering because there is only one. They have a covered patio which will be awesome in the summer months to enjoy some cold seafood with a glass of wine. I'm excited for my next trip back to Earls!

MaKenzie K.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a date night and we loved it! Perfect for a dinner for two because their tables are cozy and candlelit. So many good looking items on their menu but we only got a few so we need to come back. My personal favorite was the crab cake and the goat cheese appetizers. Our server was great, I didn't feel rushed at all and they were very helpful with recommendations.
google avatar

Kevin P.

Yelp
Earls is a cool place to stop in and get some great food and cocktails. Nice and quiet on the side streets south of brookside. I would definitely check it out if you love seafood. The service was fantastic and got everything we needed!
google avatar

Marie L.

Yelp
This is my new favorite Kansas City restaurant. Do you love seafood? This is the place for you. As a seafood lover, Kansas City lacks in fresh seafood cuisine. After hearing several friends rave about Earl's, I knew I had to make reservations ASAP. As other reviewers have shared, reservations are popular and can be hard to come by. Originally, I made a reservation for a month out, however, I found a last minute reservation on a Friday for the next day. My husband and I ordered the seafood tower! The freshness was spot on. The scallop crudo and smoked trout spread was impeccable! Of course, the oysters were incredible too. For our entrees, I ordered the shrimp scampi and my husband ordered the tidewater biscuit. Both were divine and has my mouth watering from even thinking about it. Our waiter was extremely attentive and help as well. This will be our go to spot for celebrating!
google avatar

Mac M.

Yelp
Folks, it's officially official. I have a new favorite restaurant in town. Out of nowhere, Earl's Premier just snatched the title out of the culinary ether tonight. I had heard phenomenal things about this place, but until you go there--welp, you're not living your best life. Everything was perfectly executed--from the scallop crudo to the shrimp scampi. And don't even get me started on the cheddar chive biscuits swimming in a sea(food) of paprika sherry cream. Oh, and there's a butterscotch budino that I would literally choose as my last meal on death row. Pro--everything was amazing, including the staff. Con--the place seats, like, 16 guests. The only reason we got in at 9:30 p.m. on a Friday night is because someone canceled their reservation as we were standing at the host stand. "Do you know how lucky you guys are? This never happens," said the manager. Apparently, miracles do occur.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
FINALLY got back to @earlspremier and it was so good! The environment is warm and a place that you just want to hang out. The staff is kind and attentive. Today we started with an Austrian wine and oysters. Try the frozen horseradish with oysters, spicy and cold. Then we had the daily crudo, which was shrimp ceviche. It was balanced, seasoned, and fresh. Couldn't not get the clam chowder on a snowy day. It is clam forward, creamy, and warm. The bacon and fried saltines are great toppings. The fried oysters Po' Boy is the best in KC. The bread, the remoulade, the salt are all excellent. I needed extra remoulade because it was so good.
google avatar

Christina P.

Yelp
We finally got in to try Earl's Premier as we have heard a lot of great things and wanted to see if the restaurant measured up to all the hype. Let me tell you, it most definitely does! I now know why it's so difficult to get a reservation. The space is small, quaint, and cozy with limited seating and a small bar, making it a perfect date location. Our service was top notch and then there is the food! They specialize in seafood and it is amazing! I tried one of the oysters after asking our server for a recommendation. They were incredible! We also really loved the creamy goat cheese dip, served with candied bacon (need I say more?) and grilled bread. The show stopper, however was the Butter Poached Lobster, an incredibly adult, rich, mac and cheese entree with shell pasta and herbed breadcrumbs. It's going to take a long time to find anything that makes me more happy. Wow! It was delicious. If you haven't been, you've got to go!
google avatar

Sabrina S.

Yelp
An absolute local must for seafood fans! I had earls on my list to try for a while and finally had a nice sit down dinner here. The ambience, service and kindness of staff was top notch. The clam chowder was so tasty and made me wanting to come back for more. The crab cakes were so fresh and offered a lot of flavor with the sauce paired. I enjoy their sparkling rose and frozen cocktail with my meal and loved sitting at the bar watching the oysters being prepared for the seafood towers.

Yelp
I've been to Earl's twice now, once for a late lunch and once for dinner. Very soon after Earl's opened I decided to pop in for a late lunch just to check it out. The place was packed but I managed to snag a seat in the little window bar they had opened. Everyone was super nice and accommodating. I ordered the Rosehip Spritz, oysters, and the clam chowder. First of all, the spritz is now one of my favorite drinks. It's perfect with seafood, very light and not too sweet. The oysters are primarily from the east coast which makes me SO happy because those are the best imo. The clam chowder was of course just what I needed on that cooler day and they came with these freshly baked saltine crackers that melted in my mouth. My husband and I returned last night for my birthday dinner. I knew what a hit Earl's had become and how small the restaurant was so I made my reservation a month in advanced which I highly recommend. Again everyone was so sweet and welcoming. I had my spritz and oysters again. My husband had the fish and chips and I had the EP chicken. Such simple entrees but so so delicious. We also had their chocolate tart for dessert. Earl's feels like you've left the Midwest and stepped right into an oyster house in Maine. I love it. I can't wait for a fall day when I can hopefully pop in for the clam chowder again. Again. Reservations are highly recommended. This place is popular and for good reason! Be nice to the hostesses and servers!

Yelp
Food is delicious. Would not recommend sitting outside for a table of 2. Pretty lame.
google avatar

Phon W.

Yelp
Fantastic! I went during lunch with a friend and we didn't have reservations, but there was an opening on the patio. We ordered the No. 2 tower and everything was so fresh. Loved the oysters and the halibut crudo was amazing! Their clam chowder is one of the best! I loved it all.
google avatar

Yelp
Food good. Way to loud. Not good for seven people because seating is not good. Service very good. Should only do with small group

Josie M.

Yelp
First time to this darling neighborhood joint. Was on the hunt for fabulous birthday orders. DELICIOUS. Service was the best I've had in months. Loved watching the shuckers behind the bar. My brother and I enjoyed this place so much, I stopped in the following weekend to get him a gift card for HIS birthday. Can't wait to go back!

Roger C.

Yelp
Food: Food is still pretty great for the most part. Oysters are probably the best in Kc. Their crudo usually rocks. However, scallops were basically salt. Horrible. I'd stay away from the espresso martini, too. Service: Just overall lacking. Made a rezzi a couple weeks in advance. Was told our table's previous reservation was taking too long so our options were the crowded bar where they had to make another seat for us (no room at all), or patio outside getting baked in 90 degree weather. Bartender was rude, unfriendly, and largely unhelpful. Been here several times and likely will never come back.

Darryl E.

Yelp
This place was some of the best seafood I've had in years. And I live in Charleston, SC. The atmosphere was charming, and the staff treated you like family.
google avatar

Abby M.

Yelp
The definition of intimate and cozy. We stopped in here for a drink at the bar and tried their delicious food. I can't believe I've been sleeping on this restaurant this whole time. An undiscovered gem. I highly recommend keeping your group to three or less as you may not be able to find a space. The ideal spot during cold weather. Their clam chowder, scampi, and salad was amazing. Hearty and delicious. The folks next to us we're raving about the oysters as well. The only thing that was weird was the bartender did not seem to like us. I'm not sure if they don't like people laughing? It sure what it could be, but the people I was visiting with were regulars and said this was a common issue with the same gal over and over.

Yelp
Absolute stellar dinner. Our table was not ready for our 8:15 reservation due to some stubborn diners (and I get why they didn't want to leave), but they graciously put us in a smaller space and then immediately moved us to our regular table when the other diners left. The staff here is total class. Special mention to Ainsley and GM Sarah. They went out of their way to make our experience special. I will go back just for them. Had the Earl's version of an Old Fashioned called the Cold Fashioned. Hands down the best I've ever had. Just a well crafted drink. The frozen gin and tonic was also very well received at our table. Started with a selection of oysters, which were all fresh and cold. Also had the mussels as an app. So good, I almost ordered them again for my main. Shared the clam chowder, and an artichoke and crab soup along with a shredded Brussels sprouts Caesar salad. All three were excellent. Though for me, the standout was the chowder. Rich and full of flavor, accompanied by house fried crackers. A solid winner all round. Mains were fried cod and crab cakes. The fried cod was a huge two inch thick portion of perfectly battered and perfectly fried fish on a bed of excellent fries. Two crab cakes did not spare the crab and were nice to look at, and even better to consume. Oh, and try the soft serve ice cream with olive oil and Maldon salt. The comment at our table was, "how is this so good?" It was a sublime finish to a wonderful meal.

Yelp
Went to Earl's Premier for my birthday dinner and loved it! First, the place has a fish-shack-on-the-beach feel, which is fun! It is tiny, with lots of kitschy decorations. Our server was fantastic and happily explained the menu- which was new the week we visited. We ended up getting the seafood tower #1 and the fried cod. The seafood tower consisted of oysters, scallop crudo, smoked trout dip, and shrimp. I wasn't sure about the crudo prior to ordering it, but now I think it was my favorite part of the meal! The oysters were fantastic, the shrimp were huge, and the smoked trout dip smooth and creamy. The cod and fries were good, but the fresh seafood was the star of the meal. They also gave me soft serve for my birthday! I would definitely go back!

Yelp
It's hard to get fresh seafood in the middle of the United States. If you like oysters, earls is the place. Flown in fresh, served even fresher lol. Very small. I hope you make a reservation or else you'll be waiting for a while..

Yelp
Eat. Here. Now. Perfect combination of french bistro and a gritty seafood dive bar. Crazy good food . The energy, the service, the people behind it all. Feels like an indulgence that you deserve.

Yelp
The Biscuit appetizer is the dish to get!!! Plate licking delicious. Lobster Roll was really good and fries were some of the best! Wish it was warm but still delicious. Service was amazing!

Yelp
Such a delicious lunch! Have to admit, it's hard to get a reservation, getting one a few weeks in advance helped, it's pretty small indoors. Service was great & they had a solid seafood selection. Highly recommend trying an assortment of oysters.

Yelp
I had been looking forward to this meal for the entire month we were waiting for our reservation. The service was excellent, smiling faces everywhere, very attentive. They have a fun selection of cocktails, I had the Ranch water, which was perfectly made (although hard to mess up too, lol). Atmosphere: loud at 5pm on a weekday. It's a tight space (cute though, it's a very "Brookside neighborhood feel"), but that also makes it lively. I think I would've preferred the fresh air and quieter patio. It's a lovely little area on the shady side of the building. Oysters: I'm not a connoisseur, but we asked for "plump" oysters and 4/6 we received (an East Coast flight) were pretty skimpy. Fresh though, and served with house made vinegar and horseradish. The fried oysters were good, but not an item we'd order again. Shrimp cocktail also fresh with good size shrimp. Clam Dip tasted like Dean's French Onion with clams in it (so it was good, but nothing special), but the chips that came with it might've been my favorite part of the meal. 2 of us got the Peri peri chicken which was very good. Nice portion, and juicy. Fish and chips was pretty good, fries on that plate weren't hot like the rest of the entrees that came with them. So while we had an over all good experience, the prices are on the higher end (seafood, I get it), and the fact that everything was good but not outstanding might prevent us from returning soon.

Yelp
10/10 will definitely be going back again. I have not stopped raving about this place since I went last week. I went for lunch because they were no reservation times left for the weekend at night. Even for lunch during the week, there were some slim pickings of reservations. That to me is always a good sign that the food is amazing. The space overall is a bit smaller but does offer bar seating if there are no tables available. First and foremost I would say make a reservation no matter the time you are going. Also, this is not a place to go with a large group, definitely go with one or two other people. Now lets get into the food. We ordered the gauc as a starter and it was so good! It came with Yoli tortilla chips which were amazing. It was light but very flavorful. Then for our entree we both ordered the shrimp po' boy which came with fries. YUM!! This sandwich was amazing and took me right back to the East Coast. The overall ambiance makes it feel like the restaurant has been open for 100 years. Its very cool. They also have a patio which is perfect for nice weather. I didn't try the oysters this last visit but will be trying them next time!

Yelp
I know you're thinking how can a seafood place in landlocked KC be 5 stars but y'all it's that good. Earl's is small but quaint and you can tell the menu is carefully curated to include seafood and a few staples like a burger and fries. They're signature drink is a frozen G&T, it's super refreshing and not too overpowering on the Gin. I tried the Clam dip w/ house made chips that can standup to the cream cheese based dip, raw oysters and the mussels w/ chorizo. I couldn't resist trying dessert but forgot to take a picture. The chocolate tart with toasted meringue is on my list of fave chocolate desserts in KC. You need to go to Earl's!

Yelp
Well, I can say that I am thoroughly frustrated at myself for waiting as long as I did to try this little gem of a spot. We started with a couple cocktails. I got the margarita and my husband got the old fashioned. YUM. We moved on from the drinks and he ordered some Maine and P.E.I. oysters. I got their soup of the day which was a sweet potato and celery in a creamy broth. We also ordered some grilled bread and Bluefish dip. For our entrees we split the chicken and the cod. I'd like to say that NOTHING that we ordered disappointed. The dimly lot, busy atmosphere made for such a cozy evening. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This place has character coming out of every ice bin and oyster shell. The decor is rustic and the bar practically looks like you're on a boat. Plus, the seafood is exquisite. The oysters were good even to this tepid fan, very simply dressed, no crackers. (No need). But the crudo today was a thinly sliced scallop with a bright sauce and a slight fennel finish. It absolutely melted like butter on your tongue. Pricey ($19 for appx 1 scallop) but unmissable. Close second to the crudo but also unmissable was the seasonal sweet corn, potato vichyssoise with secret lumps of crab tucked under the Old -Bay-dusted surface. Holy wow. It's a HUGE bowl (plenty to be your whole lunch), but absolutely delicious. I wanted a little something crispy, so just got a side of fries, which were salty enough without being salted. No clue what magic that is, but they are really good. We also snagged the crab guacamole which was fresh and good, but it's also kinda just guacamole :) Our chips were just a little stale (everything else on the menu here is moist, so understandable), so I'd skip that next time. The beach pie is key lime pie in a jar, tasty but huge and I was too full to finish. I had to try the Gin and Tonic slushy and it did not disappoint. My pal got the oyster po boy and really liked it, though not as much as the oysters and crudo. The char on the bread is good, but it's a high bread to filling ratio. He did like the spice though.

Yelp
This place was a complete experience! The recommended seasonal crudo and entree did not disappoint. The Scottish salmon crudo was exceptional. The shrimp entree was delicious and filling. I also enjoyed the oysters from Massachusetts and Washington state with the least amount of brininess. Freaking delicious!! The staff was incredibly attentive. I loved the small hometown atmosphere. Definitely coming back on my next trip. .

Yelp
The fact that this place has a two month wait, four and a half stars on Yelp (4.8 stars on Google), and is the buzz of the local social media food groups is an indictment on the KC food scene. They had six entrees, two of which weren't even seafood (chicken and cheese burger), two were basically appetizers (crab cakes and misled with no sides), one of them was fish and chips. The chicken that was supposedly brined for 24 hours was in desperate need of salt and the rice it was served with was undercooked. The fish and chips were no better than what you'll find at any Irish pub in town. The cocktails were bad. That said the crudo and lobster dip Appetizers were great and the service was friendly and helpful. It's basically fancy Captain D's except you can't even get hush puppies. Avoid

Yelp
Excellent menu and interior design. Had mussel and chorizo stew. Guacamole and crab app was fantastic. Hope to sit on patio soon.
