"Eden Hill only seats 24 people. And eating there is a great excuse to wear those ritzy-looking pair of shoes that makes your ankles look amazing. The food feels snazzy, but nothing on the menu takes itself too seriously—like an overturned bowl of foie gras cake batter with a spatula shoved inside. "A Queen Anne restaurant helmed by Maximillian Petty is closing on September 4, its 10-year anniversary; Petty told Eater Seattle that he and his wife and co-owner Jennifer will be focusing on their other business, Big Max Burger Co. In a statement the restaurant wrote: "The food that made us popular — intricate and creative dishes with an ungodly amount of steps and Max’s pure creativity — was unsustainable." The statement continued: "The rapid changing restaurant economics was once a fun puzzle and now simmers resentment that bleeds into our hospitality. "This tiny restaurant in Queen Anne is where you should absolutely wear that pair of expensive-but-painful shoes. It’s a breeze to get on the books, like if you forgot to plan dinner for a friend’s highly specific anniversary occasion. There’s a tasting menu that changes nightly, but if that feels too constricting, the a la carte lineup is full of exciting things like glazed lamb ribs, and foie gras-based desserts, or a crispy “candy bar” loaded with pig’s head. "Eden Hill is the kind of place where you’ll step inside and encounter a sea of couples. We’re not sure if they’re all romantically involved, but we do know that this Queen Anne spot works wonders for a special two-person meal. The menu is full of dishes like green garlic funnel cake with uni, cauliflower chilaquiles, and foie gras-infused cake batter with sprinkles served in an overturned mixing bowl with the spatula still inside.
