"Edith’s original location in Williamsburg is deservedly famous for their slushie iced coffee: a nutty, not-nearly-as-sweet-as-it-looks drink we order any day above 55 degrees. Their West Village spot on Charles Street is locked and loaded with a slushie machine, too, twirling caffeine from open until close. You still order at the counter, though this space is a bit larger than the first Edith's, and has the bonus of West Village charm—stained glass lamps, big windows, brick walls, and ’70s music playing over the speakers. photo credit: Kate Previte photo credit: Kate Previte photo credit: Kate Previte photo credit: Kate Previte Like the original, most menu items include some form of Jewish cooking from around the world, like a latke egg and cheese or a good version of pastrami and chicken schnitzel. The real reason to go to Edith’s, though, is for breakfast served on malawach with a texture as flaky as roti or scallion pancake. Especially when paired with one of those coffee slushies, the Yemeni flatbread makes the strong case for Edith’s as a destination breakfast sandwich spot, no matter where you live in the city. Food Rundown photo credit: Kate Previte Sephardi Breakfast Wrap Our favorite thing here by a long shot, and one of the best breakfast sandwiches in New York. The malawach holds together cheesy eggs, housemade alheira chicken sausage with strong cumin flavor, pickled fresno peppers, and harissa mayo. This is why you should go, and come back to Edith’s. photo credit: Kate Previte Iced Cafe Slushie When people say they want a “little treat,” we assume this is what they mean. It’s nutty from tahini and oatmilk, but still plenty bitter. photo credit: Kate Previte BEC&L You know when you order a McMuffin and a hashbrown at McDonalds and tuck your crispy fried potato into the steamed sandwich? This is better. Edith's crispy latke has a bit of browned onion flavor, the supremely gooey Cooper Sharp cheese tastes slightly less artificial than typical American, and the bacon is salty and fatty. The one thing about this sandwich that we aren’t wild about is the bagel, which is bit small for the amount of filling and dense. photo credit: Kate Previte Chicken Schnitzel Club This sandwich served on Texas toast-sized slices of griddled challah somehow doesn’t feel overwhelming, even with its crunchy bacon and bright, herby mayo. A solid choice. photo credit: Kate Previte The Edith This eponymous sandwich is Edith’s version of a reuben, with pastrami, sauerkraut, emmenthal cheese, and Edith’s special sauce on caraway-forward rye. It’s a perfectly fine version of the classic Jewish deli sandwich, but we wouldn’t go out of our way for it." - Will Hartman

Edith’s sandwich counter, is a gem in New York City, became my go-to spot for a satisfying sandwich. While visiting with my family, we were introduced to this place and couldn’t resist trying their pastrami with bagel. The pastrami was a perfect combination of fat and lean, so many flavors that left me craving more. Be prepared to make a little effort to find a seat. Edith’s has limited seating. So, you might have to venture a few steps away to a nearby stoop and enjoy your delicious meal. This all makes the experience that much more memorable.

Chicken schnitzel on challah is SO good. 10/10 on all the flavors and textures. A bit on the greasier side. The tahini coffee is also refreshing and not too sweet. The tahini feels healthier and heartier than plain milk. The latkes are also great here- with a thin coating of potato shavings which make a crisp salty bite. They have totkes too- which are the latkes chopped up into bite sized crispier pieces. Tried the BEC with the Chicago everything bagel. I don't think there was anything notable about the bagel but the fillings were a great ratio. If I had two latkes with the bacon egg and cheese smushed in between I'd be happy.

Edith’s in West Village is a 10/10. The Edith—their classic pastrami sandwich—is incredible. Their iced coffee slushy is unique and delicious. The atmosphere feels like a classic diner and they have nice outdoor seating. Highly recommend!

We ordered pick up from Edith’s. While the place was busy, our order was ready to go when we got there. The sandwiches were very tasty and the Edith was quite filling. We only finished half of it. I would recommend eat there as the latkes get a little soggy if not eaten fresh. I’m sure packing the ice drink next to the hot sandwiches didn’t help the situation.

This place is a phenomenal sandwich shop! 🥪 Edith’s Sandwich Counter in the West Village 🗽 serves an endless selection of delicious 🤤 sandwiches, wraps 🌯, and drinks! 🥤 Their must-get crown 👑 jewel 💎 is the Iced 🧊 Coffee Tahini ☕ Slushie! The Chicken 🐔 Caesar Salad 🥗 Wrap is fantastic too! The staff 👨‍🍳 is friendly and the service is quick! ⏲️ They get packed 👥 and have limited seating 🪑 but the turn over 🛞 is pretty quick, otherwise consider taking your order to go. 🥡 I wish they had more spots around town! 🏙️

One of my favorite spots for breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The wraps are delicious, and the latkes are divine as an accompaniment. Coffee slushie is appropriately hyped but also quite sinful. Looking forward to trying more of their sandwiches! Limited seating in the restaurant, seems more like a grab and go vibe.

The wrap was insanely good tbh. Scottsdale w the thick pita they use. Actually so yum. The line was ridiculous though. Also ~30 min wait. And man the servers are not friendly. One was very not-nice actually. Anyway. Maybe don’t go Saturday at prime brunch time? Otherwise, very delicious, albeit $20 wrap. Tried the oat tahini coffee slushy thing. Ya I don’t get it. Super sweet & I could not drink a whole drink size version. Get the wrap here. Don’t waste energy on pastrami or bagel. The wrap bread is the shining star.

The breakfast sandwich and mini latkes are sooooo delicious. It can be a wait trying to get a seat, but in my opinion is worth the wait and there’s very few things I say that about. Definitely want to go back and try the other sandwiches.
