The 32 Best Coffee Shops For Getting Work Done In Los Angeles

"Eightfold doesn't look like much from the outside, but they've developed a fairly rabid following for their coffee. And despite the barebones interior, it's surprisingly unpretentious and welcoming, and they utilize the small space well, with small tables and plenty of outlets. We're fans of all the natural light pouring into the room throughout the day, which makes us feel like we're out in the world instead of filling our expense reports. " - nikko duren, brant cox, sylvio martins

12 LA Coffee Shops With Really Fast Wifi - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"You might miss Eightfold driving past their barebones Echo Park storefront, but they’ve quickly become one of our favorite places to post up with a computer. They’ve got a cute, minimalist aesthetic going on, with lots of small, light wood tables, huge glass windows, and a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf filled with local zines. It’s a perfect place to go if you want strong coffee, or a space that inspires you, especially if you’re a graphic designer or own “quirky” glasses. The biggest draw? They now serve slices of Chainsaw’s incredible pies." - Kat Hong

Google
Great coffee shop for studying, working, and chatting with friends. I like their hojicha latte and chai latte. You can’t go wrong with their pastries!! By far, my favorites are spinach one and mushroom one.

Google
First time here, Saturday morning and parking was so easy. Walked right in, no wait, so much beautiful natural light if you need a place to sit and work or just hang out. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was very clean. Didn’t order food but oh man the avocado toast looked absolutely amazing! I’d go back just to try that! And my lavender latte was amazing! They also put my boyfriend’s coffee in his personal cup which was awesome and saves some waste! I’d give another star just for that! lol. Highly recommend and will return.

Google
My favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood for tasty drinks and a place to catch up with friends or get some computer work done. This location seems calm and relaxing, but also runs very efficiently. Also, Kayla is awesome!! P.s. check out the Eightfold downtown. Cool spot, also wonderful people!

Avedon Arcade

Google
This cafe might seem a little out of the way for most Echo Park roamers, but that’s a plus in my book. It’s not overly crowded and pretty spacious on the inside. Well lit with the tall glass windows and a variety of seating to fit everyone’s needs. If there is any downside it’s that the menu isn’t as diverse as other cafes. This isn’t such a bad thing since they do a solid job with the staple drinks, and they offer a pretty robust list of teas as well. Something many other cafes can’t boast. For a regular and local to the cafe, that’s exactly what you want. For anyone who is just exploring the neighborhood, you’re better suited going further west on Sunset though. It’s also a bit cluttered in the back making it hard to sit at the communal tables if someone is blocking one side of it already. And it’s not as well lit back there either but that’s a given since you’re pretty far back from the windows. Overall a decent cafe at the edge of the hood that’s worth a stop at.

Google
Cute space and had seating to do work. Purchased a Spanish Latte and Hot Green Tea, both were delicious ($12.60). Parking was on the street, not sure if there was parking elsewhere.

Got a very rude attitude form the manager when I told him about a pro Palestinian sticker. Didn’t feel comfortable and safe to shop there unfortunately.

Google
Aesthetically pleasing coffee shop near Dodger Stadium! Coffee is not the strongest though. Was expecting more of a kick from their cold brew. Street parking available after 9am.

Alisa Wyman

Google
Great coffee (I had the cold brew) and aesthetic. Added bonus: they now have bagels from the Yeastie Boys! But per usual... prices are a bit crazy.

Yelp
Quick service, and they have a really good matcha! I added some vanilla syrup to mine to add just a little bit of sweetness. Very dog friendly cafe! Your pups are welcome even indoors. Plus the space looks like a good place to get some work done.
google avatar

Yelp
When arriving to this cafe parking will be street parking, but we did not have any issue finding a spot! The cafe had a very chill atmosphere with a lot of seating! The service was really great! They were very nice and patient with us while we ordered! We ordered the Eightfold cold brew, butter toast with jam, and the everything bagel with cream cheese! The toast was on a sourdough bread which was literally SO deciduous! It had the best crunch and flavor! The jam on the toast was the cherry chai jam which if I'm not mistaken they make their own! The everything bagel was also delicious, it did not skimp out on the seasonings and the bagel was toasted to perfection! We REALLY enjoyed the Eightfold cold brew, the flavor was top notch and it was creamy! We were overall very impressed by this cafe and we can't wait to go back and try some more of what they have! Check out their instagram for inspiration if you're headed there!

Yelp
Earl grey latte- so good, I think it's seasonal but it should be added to the permanent roster. It also came with vegan cold foam on top which doesn't hold its shape as well as regular cold foam but in terms of flavor it wasn't an issue. Orange espresso tonic- pretty good, nice espresso taste and orange flavor. Turmeric latte- not my personal favorite but it tastes very healthy, it was okay but also stained my mouth yellow lol Nice coffee shop they give you nice tall glass cups when drinking in house and have compostable straws. We didn't try their baked goods but they looked good.

Yelp
I walked in, no line. Waited for the barista to notice me while she was in conversation (a good 3min). When she noticed me she gave a loud annoyed sign. When I asked about the lattes she gave very short answers without even looking at me. After I ordered she went back to her conversation for a while till she decided to make my coffee. After she was done she put the coffee on the counter without saying a word or looking at me. I said,"thank you"; no reply. I grew up around Sunset Blvd and I loved going to new cafes and restaurants but it's rude and pretentious people like this that have tarnished the spirit of Sunset Blvd. I will never come here again.
google avatar

Suhasini G.

Yelp
We loved the coffee at eightfold! I got the espresso tonic with orange which was amazing, and very refreshing. My friend ordered the praline latte with oat milk, and asked for it to be less sweet and it was perfect. Great place to get some work done, with a great interior.

Yelp
Back on my coffee tour and today's stop was at eightfold. A cute and cozy coffee shop minutes away from dodgers stadium. I ordered the Spanish latte and a turkey and cheese croissant the latte wasn't overly sweet I can't really pick up a flavor on it, but it still served it's purpose
google avatar

Yelp
Good matcha latte. They use Ippodo matcha so definitely high points there. Service was super friendly. Cute and specious coffee shop. Plenty seating area.

Yelp
Pros: cute spot inside and good coffee. Cons: came in on a Sunday at 3:45 pm and didn't get the best service. The woman at the counter didn't look too happy and wasn't too helpful while I was deciding what drink to get. I tried to order an avocado toast but she said they're "done with food for the day" which I was surprised about as they didn't close until 5 pm. She was very short with her words and continued to mop as I was trying to order. Parking was also soooo hard to find.
google avatar

Julie X.

Yelp
Whoever said that there were outlets here lied... or the people at the cafe covered it up. The service is nice, the atmosphere is good, everyone is doing their own work and seems nice. I didn't try out the food. But no outlets here so I'll probably head out in a few hours. Edit: omg the macchiato I got was sooo sour.... I think their coffee is overdue... I've never tasted coffee so gross in my life... I just got here and I planned to study but I think I will leave and go to Starbucks or Philz coffee...

Yelp
Was looking to grab some coffee at a spot that was open somewhat later in the afternoon, and this place came up. I'm really happy I decided to stop by! Ordered the Eightfold Cold Brew, which was their special signature drink. It was sweetened with oat milk and maple syrup, and it was simply delicious. Sweet, but not too sweet. The cold brew flavor was strong and didn't taste watered down. I placed my order online for pick up and it was ready within 5 minutes. :) The drinks were prepared and sitting at the entrance for me to pick up.
google avatar

Deisy R.

Yelp
We ordered an oat latte and a cold brew. Unfortunately the coffee taste in both of these was not strong. My latte primarily tasted like oat milk and unfortunately, I could barely taste the coffee and unfortunately, it was the same thing with the cold brew. Parking is metered/street parking only on busy sunset Blvd. The decor inside eightfold coffee is minimal and there are no outlets.

Yelp
Service can be a hit or a miss but I keep coming back for that Spanish latte. It's soooo good.

Yelp
Having been here multiple times, the coffee is excellent, the croissants are flaky and delicious but I really must repeat that the coffee is amazing. So amazing that I've had multiple cups due to the delicious flavor. As for the ambiance, it's a mixed bag really. Having been there with people and myself, it can range from quiet and chill with people on their laptops or reading, or loud with inane chatter and loud barking. When it comes to the baristas, I can't help but remember when I was in high school and I really wanted to be with the popular crowd and impress all those popular girls but failed miserably. That's how I feel sometimes when I come in here. The girls are so cool and you wanna impress them but for me, anyway, I become awkward. I never have that feeling anymore but I do when I go here. I guess I have to come back multiple times for that feeling to subside. Out of all the cool coffee shops in this area, I feel this one is the most chill (RIP Silverback Coffee which won hands down) and hip at the same time. Whether you wanna come read, again bring some good headphones cuz the talking can be loud. If you wanna have a chill meeting here, it's a good place. But overall, it's definitely a place I would be a regular if I lived around here. Check it out!

Yelp
Eightfold is one of the best coffee shops in Los Angeles. Everything is done perfectly from the filter coffee to lattes to cold brew. They carry some vegan baked goods as well with one gluten free option. Lots of seating. Everyone is always friendly. 10/10
google avatar

Isabel C.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop! Really enjoyed my matcha latte. My husband also enjoyed his Arnold Palmer. The service was great too!
google avatar

Sarahbeth M.

Yelp
This is close to the Super 8 by Dodger Stadium. It's walkable from the hotel. So if you don't like the breakfast there you can come over to this coffee shop and get a good breakfast. Dogs are allowed inside and on the outside patio. Service was great as there are 3-4 people working. The line is cut down quickly and there isn't much time waiting.
google avatar

Emma G.

Yelp
I wish I lived nearby because I'd come here so so often! I got a hojicha latte with oat milk and a cinnamon roll-esque pastry. Both were 10/10 seriously so good. It's hard to find hojicha and I absolutely loved theirs! The pastry had such a good texture and didn't just taste like pure sugar. I will definitely be back any time I'm in the area!
google avatar

Kia A.

Yelp
I ordered matcha and the barista made it according to my liking. I got the ube oreo cookie which tasted really good! It paired well with my matcha. I look forward to visiting again and get a coffee next time.

Eddie C.

Yelp
Wrong hours posted and instead of just letting customers in who are there at what is posted as the opening time, the person couldn't multi task pouring some iced coffees and sent people away
google avatar

Er3yn G.

Yelp
Cute guy working behind the counter. Popped in after my Covid test at dodger stadium. They have one designated parking spot out front for running in to order and leave. Perfect set up. It's very cute inside, Clean and open. My Spanish latte was amazing and that was probably the best blueberry scone I've had.
google avatar

Sanford M.

Yelp
Maybe my favorite coffee in the area, but the service needs a checkup. There's two nice girls that (piercings and blonde with blue eyes) work there that are great and one kinda guy who has an attitude problem . He and another girl seem to find it impossible to get the order right and they never apologize when they do... and for that they are hit and miss in general. :/
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
A chill spot. They had steady traffic but it wasn't impossible to get my order in and served quickly and I was able to find a seat. I tried the Spanish latte - I opted for a soy milk base and the "Spanish" treatment was sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon. Delicious!
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
My go to place for oak lattes near DTLA! The cashiers are friendly! Cute spot to hang out and zone out if you want to work/read.

Yelp
Boss: Alexa, direct me to the best coffee shop. Alexa: Boss, here's my top list. Let's start this new coffee shop review. Eightfold is a small coffee shop in the eastern section of Echo Park. It's located along Sunset blvd and Innes ave. I've been to most coffee shops in Echo Park/Silverlake neighborhood except this one. Eightfold doesn't look much from the outside, but it has imbued the hearts of the locals. I arrived on a warm sunny Thursday and was warmly greeted by a barista with cool tats. I perused their menu on the wall and have decided to get a nice cold brew. As I wait for my drink, I couldn't help but notice the shop's massive whitewash exposed brick decorated with pic frames and how they maximized their space, modern lighting, non ergonomic small Ikea like tables/chairs, and a long grey back table. Furthermore, it's interior was very relaxing and inviting with plethora of natural lights coming from its front windows. The shop's layout design was adroitly conceived. My cold brew coffee arrived in a timely manner. I took a sip and it was orgasmic. Prices of their coffee and teas seem reasonable for the area. Street parking only. They only accept cashless payment. Overall, I had a nice order experience and a good drink. I recommend this coffee shop.
google avatar

Trisha W.

Yelp
Cute & chill place to do some work! A good number of seating options with outlets throughout. I was here from opening on a Sunday morning for a few hours to get some work done, and it didn't get to busy or loud. Wi-Fi was great and easy to find the password for. I street parked, which was also relatively easy this morning. The iced lavender latte wasn't my favorite as the flavor was a bit muted, but the vibes and staff were great!
google avatar

Pearl Henry P. A.

Yelp
Love their barista! She so nice! The girly with the nose ring! Been coming here twice already my husband loved the drinks esp the banan choco bread ... perfection!!! Will come back for sure esp i have a discount code
google avatar

Kayla D.

Yelp
Where to start?!?! Laura the barista is amazing and to be honest that alone I would come back here for. She is completely personable funny and friendly! She recommended a great matcha lemonade for my friend who doesn't drink coffee and I went with a vanilla latte! The prices are 5 stars! The pastries are 5 stars! The staff is beyond amazing! Completely recommended for anyone in the Echo Park area!
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
Cute hidden spot! We got the hot chocolate and the citrus espresso tonic today. Hot chocolate was tasty and my boyfriend enjoys the tonic. He gets it every time. Every time we stop by it's pretty quiet and chill. Don't skip the pastries. They're the perfect sweet treat. We got the milk bun and the marble cake. So yummy!
google avatar

Christina L.

Yelp
The service is great! The worker gave me a recommendation of the iced matcha with vanilla syrup. Apparently they make vanilla syrup in house! It tasted so bomb! The hot brew was just okay. The latte also was pretty average, nothing special but still good! Would come back again! Parking is all street parking which makes it a struggle in LA.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
From the street, this coffee shop is really easy to miss, but the inside is really spacious! There is a lot of seating available, but keep in mind that the tables are really short and there are no outlets-- so not ideal for your posture and for working very long here. They play chill music inside, but it is at a pretty high volume, so bring headphones or something if you get distracted easily. Their latte has more of a smoky flavor and a thick layer of foam on the top. It's not the best latte that I've had, but it's fine. They do have a large selection of teas though, so maybe check that out when you're here!
google avatar

Darinca C.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying that the only thing that stood out to me was the amazing decor and interior style of this cafe. It induces relaxation and comfort. Now, there are two major reasons (and one minor) that made me deliver my first ever bad review. When I first came in the girl taking orders was exuding a hostile attitude. I let it slide by because maybe I thought she was having a bad day. The attitude continued as I ordered but I ignored it. But I quickly learned that attitude and rudeness was just with me. Soon after a group of men followed in and her persona completely changed. She was instantly nice and welcoming to them. My drinks were soon called out by the barista. I told her thank you but I just received a "mhm". I planned to stay inside the cafe but I already felt uncomfortable with the rudeness of the girl taking orders and the barista, so I decided to leave. I'm sorry but this was by far the most tasteless matcha I've had ever. I seriously just paid almost 6 for a cup of whole milk, because that's what it tasted like. The other drink I got was an iced Latte and it was just disappointing. It tasted like watered down iced coffee. And parking is very limited ( as it is on Sunset), so good luck with that.
google avatar

Smita N.

Yelp
amazing lattes, fast service, and a great place to catch up with friends. There's an ample amount of casual seating as well.
google avatar

Kislev A.

Yelp
Eightfold Coffee is located on a section of Sunset Blvd between Silver Lake and Downtown LA that is not so busy. It was very easy to find vacant spots to park in on the street. Also found nearby is one of those legacy staircases that allows pedestrians to cut through between houses to get from one street to another street that is of a much higher elevation. On this day, I was in the mood for a sweet coffee drink so I ordered the Spanish Latte which had condensed milk and cinnamon. It was really great! I can't do it all the time, but I still very much highly recommend it. Hot Chocolates for the kids were good. The Latte is good too. Easy to order.
google avatar

Jessy M.

Yelp
Coffee was good, walkable from our hotel. Parfait was good too. Service was fine too. Cute place. I would go back and get a coffee there but I wasn't super in love with the place. Just an ok experience with decent coffee.
google avatar

Sindy A.

Yelp
Great place for some coffee! First of all the interior of the shop is stylish and clean. We ordered the Iced Vanilla Latte and the Iced Mocha. Both were great in flavor and caffeine strength. The ambience of the shop is really nice and a great place to catch up with friends over coffee or to study/do some work on your laptop!
google avatar

Sam W.

Yelp
I moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and Eightfold very quickly became my go-to spot for coffee. The service and seasonal offerings have been hitting lately and I'm already thinking about my next strawberry matcha latte.

Sarah M.

Yelp
I really want to enjoy this coffee shop, but the staff makes it quite difficult to. I come here often since it's the closest cafe to me - the coffee and food itself is really good. It also is a great environment to work in. The staff however overall is quite unfriendly (except for one of the baristas who is very kind, I don't know their name but they have brown curly hair, tattoos and big glasses). It almost feels like the staff goes out of their way to not have basic customer service skills. It's very bizarre. No basic hellos or greetings before you order, when I stay thank you after receiving the order, they won't acknowledge that. And occasionally one of the staff members will be quite condescending. To contrast this, Stereoscope coffee which is also near by has a wonderful and very friend staff. Overall, this makes me want to stop coming here, because I know that 9 times out of 10 the experience will be negative.
google avatar

Tim D.

Yelp
Really sad to leave this review as I've been a regular here since the pandemic, but the service has really fallen off. The baristas don't really seem to care anymore, unless they're talking to a friend. In that case, you'll be standing in line while they have whole conversations. I feel terrible walking in there now as I feel like I'm disturbing them. For about the last month, a barista that's been there as long as I've been coming has been getting my order wrong. She looks as though she couldn't be bothered and has a really sour attitude now. It's really sad because this was one of my favorite places to go and now I feel awkward walking in because I'll feel like I'm bothering them. I'm on the lookout for a more welcoming spot. Sadly, won't be coming here anymore.
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
I love coming here. Their coffee never disappoints. This time I added breakfast with avocado toast. Let me tell you this one was delicious!! The toast was well seasoned. The avocado was well ripped which made it even better. The coffee was strong with rich notes of their blend. I highly recommend this coffee shop! I will be back to try their overnight oats since they were sold out.

Matthew L.

Yelp
Love a good coffee in the morning but even better I love good service, that's what keeps me going. The whole staff is great but I always end up going and seeing Julian who puts me on to new drinks and they hit every single time. He's always incredibly helpful and super knowledgeable on not only coffee but the entire menu. Somehow got onto the topic of lemonade and he told me they served lemonade and my life changed and I'll be going back every time just for Julians lattes and his top tier recommendations. I need a Julian in every coffee shop that's closer to me but I'll drive for that service no doubt!
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
Nice, calming vibe inside. They have some workspace, but the two person tables are pretty low and not ideal being hunched over long. They definitely do noooot skimp on topping that avocado toast. Cold brew was pretty smooth and not terribly acidic either.
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Pretty good spot for coffee, outdoor seating too. Good service and inside seating gets filled up fast. I'd come back.
google avatar

Phillip T.

Yelp
What a cute find, just popped in and was delightfully surprised. The spanish latte is soo good, almost just as good as community goods, but you get sooo much more bang for your buck. Decadent matcha hitttt, wish i tasted more condensed milk, but it was def sweet enough so dont really mind. Also the crew was super quick so kudos. #love
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Good vibe. Came on Sunday afternoon and not a lot of people. Avocado is thic. Much appreciated. Low tables not ideal for work and not too many outlets but aesthetic is good. Speed test at 65Mbps.
google avatar

Patrick B.

Yelp
// Summary Okay coffee with service that left a bit more to be desired. // Experience I ordered an americano, and it was okay. There wasn't anything particularly notable or desirable enough for me to come again. // Service It took awhile for me to get to order, because the folks behind the counter were talking to their friends and catching up on all the things. I was able to eventually take my order, but they kind of kept going at it - which may have annoyed some other customers. // Ambiance I did like the ambiance of the shop, as it has plenty of seats to do some work as long as you bring a set of noise-cancelling gear. The bathrooms seemed clean enough. // Convenience Parking is a bit weird around this area. I parked up the hill across the street, and it was relatively easy.
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
Had an iced lavender latte and set outside for a few hours. Coffee was good. Parking was easy to find. Location is a little sketchy do to the increasing homeless population.
google avatar

Ron F.

Yelp
Excellent coffee! I've lived in the Arts District for 12 years and this is currently my favorite spot for coffee. The espresso / cappuccinos have just the right balance of acidity and richness that I like, not too dark roasted. They are also extremely consistent with the quality..I've had at least 40-50 espresso based drinks here. The only other spot around here that compares is Maru, but I prefer Eightfold. The only shop that has a better espresso that I know of in LA is Kumquat. I also love how casual and neighboorhoody this place feels. They play a great selection of music curated by the baristas. Have discovered some great new artists through coming here. It's also nice that I think most of their espresso drinks are $1 less than most of the other shops around. Also, the Heart decaf they sell is amazing if you like decaf in the afternoons. I've searched far and wide for a good decaf and this is currently my favorite. I like it even better than the "Low-caf" by renowned Berlin roaster The Barn, which they sell at Kumquat.
google avatar

Julianna K.

Yelp
Eightfold coffee has my favorite coldbrew in LA. It has a really subtle smooth taste. It's not too acidic and it's not too bitter. I've had their oat milk cappuccino too which was also very good.
