Dining at Ekachan: The Wisdom of Ethnic Thai Cuisine feels less like a meal and more like a carefully composed travel essay, one written in spice, smoke, and story.
With a focus on unique authentic ingredients, sourced with reverence and prepared with quiet confidence, each dish unfolds as a chapter, guiding us on a journey through the four corners of Thailand through the cuisine. And journey we did, from the herbal depth of the north to the fiery brightness of the south, all balanced with thoughtful restraint.
We selected a luxurious Yunnan beef dish in honour of my maternal heritage; and a bold charcoal grilled catfish, along with a spicy squid egg number in honour of my paternal heritage.
There is an elegance to Ekachan that doesn’t announce itself loudly. Instead, it lingers, much like the flavours; inviting reflection, conversation, and an appreciation for the cultural wisdom embedded in every plate.
We loved it so much, we decided to return for a birthday dinner, a rare compliment in a city rich with extraordinary dining. The second visit felt even more special: familiar yet revelatory, celebratory yet grounded in tradition.
Thank you to the wonderful Ekachan crew who looked after us! 🇹🇭🥢🍚
