"El Born feels more like a Spanish bar (with a big food menu) than a restaurant. The long bar takes up most of the space, and there are almost as many drink options as there are dishes. We like their gin & tonics, which come with things like with rosemary and thyme, and are about the three times the size of gin & tonics anywhere else. Get one of those, or try one of their Spanish vermouths, along with classic tapas like papas braves and croquettes. This is a great place to come before a night out in Greenpoint or Williamsburg." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, matt tervooren

"A lively historic district with narrow streets and cultural attractions that cyclists can access from central routes, offering cafés, boutiques, and museums that reward slower-paced exploration by bike." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. "Back in late Medieval times, this neighborhood was a coastal haven for aristocrats (several buildings date back to that era), but now it’s mainly a favorite area for artsy hipsters. If you’re into small galleries, vintage boutiques, and trendy tapas bars, you’ll feel right at home in El Born." - MATADOR_NETWORK

"Lounging in the backyard I worked through tapas and kept returning to the Iberican pork ribs ($14): boneless ribs set in a pool of creamy potato and Idiazabal cheese purée, the fatty pork falling apart at a touch and each bite feeling as decadent as a slice of warm chocolate cake — a true standout on a night of stellar tapas." - Eater Staff
