"The James Beard Foundation broke the mold when it nominated the father-and-daughter team of Luis and Berenice Medina as Best Chef Southwest semi-finalists in 2023. The duo, hailing from Chihuahua, Mexico, operate one of the city’s favorite food trucks where Luis plies his decades of experience as a hot dog cart operator and Berenice leverages her Le Cordon Bleu degree. The dishes, served on paper plates, pack in flavor rather than pomp. For breakfast, larger than life Luis Mix breakfast burritos pack in chorizo, bacon, and polish sausage with eggs, potatoes, green chile, and cheese. Delicious veggie tacos in Santa Fe. Do I need to say more? Okay, fine. Delicious veggie breakfast burritos in Santa Fe. More still? The red and green sauces (which come with the food) are beyond good. None of the veggie options have fake meat (big plus). There’s plenty of parking nearby. They have massive cups of horchata. There are tables to eat there. We went twice in three days. Amazing value for money. I didn’t eat anything with meat but if the veggie options and other reviews are anything to go by, I’m sure they slap too. Just go. So, so good.

It’s about frigging time that we find a genuine New Mexican green chili breakfast burrito. The whole experience was fantastic! From the wonderful tortillas all the way to the red and green sauces on our vegetarian and bacon breakfast burritos were the best we have had in the city. Did I mention they are not afraid to season their burritos? We will come back! Gracias. El Chile Toreado.

This place knows how to pack a breakfast burrito. We shared the breakfast burrito with Luis’s mix for meat and it was very filling. Good flavor and nice mix of ingredients. Red and green sauces were a great add. There is a topping bar as well. Would recommend!

The Medina family at El Chile Toreado is absolutely the best! They treat you like family, always making you feel welcomed and right at home. The warmth and hospitality they offer are unmatched. And the food? It's world-class! I honestly wish I could take them with me on all my travels, and don’t even get me started on the green salsa—it's so good I’d almost drink it if I could. Best breakfast burrito I've ever had by far. Wife had the breakfast tacos and said they were the best. The matcha salsa and Horchadas were excellent. Met the owner who is incredibly friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had an excellent experience.

I don’t even know how to express how good their breakfast burrito is! We got both the breakfast burrito and breakfast tacos veggie style, and the burrito is the winner by long and far. The tacos were ok but, I’m guessing, a lot better if you get meat. The burrito, however, was a life altering experience and I will be dreaming of it for months to come. The classic green and red sauces you get with it are some of the best I have ever had! I recommend asking for extra red sauce if you like things spicy. If you’re in Santa Fe, this is a must visit!
