What a fabulous neighborhood gem! I live two blocks away and didn't know the tiny place existed. Just tried it for carry out after friends recommended. It’s a keeper. Especially on Taco Tuesday where 3 hefty tacos were $13. Diego is super friendly and explained the menu. The space is bright and colorful and has enough seating for a handful of diners. Tried the birria tacos with consommé and carne asada tacos. All were fresh, flavorful and oversized. Real value with a smile in a neighborhood that could really use it. Can’t wait to go back. 🌮😊😍

This place is easy to miss because it's on a mostly residential street and it's very small. Very tasty tacos and tostadas, and good portion size for the price. I also like their breakfast burritos. Great wings and nachos too. They also give complementary chips and salsa (I love that!). Very good friendly service.

Got takeout for the first time. Nachos and tacos. The tacos are very good. Spicy pork and Carne Asada were both very tasty! The nachos with al pastor are very good too but the yellow nacho cheese unfortunately has a bit of sour artificial taste to it that we didn’t personally quite like. Wish we had known and could’ve opted out of it. Overall very good!

The food was great and the staff was nice as well. We traveled here and they gave us grate recommendations. I had three different tacos beef, Birria, & fish & they all were good! I got my kid the steak quesadillas and they were a nice size and came with four of them. He loved them. Will highly recommend this place. Nice cozy atmosphere and chill vibe

I can’t imagine anyone ever writing a negative review about this place. I’ve been here twice. Both times Diego (the counter guy who also makes the drinks, serves, etc) was the friendliest and coolest guy you can encounter in a restaurant. From greeting you when you walk in the door to quickly bringing you your food and drink, it’s simply great, friendly service. The food is great, and while they have a vegetarian burrito, there are things I wanted and didn’t want in the burrito. They were fully accommodating. One of the best burritos in NYC. Thanks, Diego.

Was walking down the street with some friends and a local literally walked us back and raved about the place. Post brunch drinks we had a couple of tacos just to confirm and he was right. They were delicious. They brought out chips and salsas which tasted fresh and delicious. Ordered the birria, al pastor and chicken tacos. All were good but the birria was TENDER!!!!!! Friendly service. Clearly a hit with the locals. Cute spot with the classic loteria decor. Would absolutely recommend and return.

We walked into this little place on East 3rd Street and were met with with kindest and most engaging human who welcomed us and walked us through the menu. They offer margaritas where you choose your flavor and then choose your tequila, no extra charge so you can get a Cuervo marg or a Casa Miga marg...no price difference. What? I got a passion fruit marg and it was great. Food was really good (brunch burrito and nachos) and the tacos looked amazing. For anyone who says people in New York City are not friendly, check out El Diablito Taqueria. Worth the trip!

Had an awesome casual dinner with a friend here last night. We chose to get an order of chips and dip, along with splitting 2 burritos. The chips came with two different salsas. Both salsas were good, but we preferred the flavor and spice of the orange! The burritos were solid (especially for the price), and would say I liked the steak a little more. Since I am not a fan of beans, we asked for beans on the side- and they delivered on that! One other thing to call out. Service was honestly incredible. They were super attentive with our water, frequently came over to ask of we needed anything else, and overall sooooo friendly. Will definitely be back!

Shrimp nachos are my addiction and El Diablito does them well. So saucy! So good! They marinate the shrimp and it adds so much flavor to the nachos. I love their salsa too, it has a nice kick. If I you love fondue yellow cheese then you must try. I can only speak about the nachos because that's all I get there. But my friend recently ordered a burrito. It was huge! He liked the flavor but the ingredients weren't evenly arranged inside. Each bite was different and honestly that ruins the burrito experience. They gotta master the craft of wrapping it so each bite is even saucy and good. There's room to improve!

I love this place. The fried fish burrito is aces and I don't know what magical thing they put in the green salsa but holy moly. Everyone in my family has a different fave -- spicy pork, al pastor, chicken burrito -- and everything is great. Plus the owners/staff are SO NICE. Once a street person came in and started panhandling at all the tables and the woman working the counter quietly told him, "I'm happy to make you something but you can't bother my customers." And he stopped, and waited patiently for his food (they're really fast there!) and took it to go. She just handled the situation so gracefully and so kindly. They feel very old-school East Village that way. Great food, fast, never impossibly busy ... El Diablito is the best!

Wow. Came in on a Saturday night and it was empty. I don't know why because the food is AMAZING. Literally no complaints. The green Mild salsa is to die for. Salsas are made in house. We got the nachos with Spicy Chorizo - it's not that spicy, just super flavorful. The cheese was melty and the ratio of toppings to chips was perfect. We actually had extra toppings by the end. Enchiladas were delicious - smothered in sauce and flavor. Highly recommend al pastor for that sweet pineapple that they include with the meat. Rice was yummy too. Staff is very friendly. The ambience is super casual, with just a few tables for dining in. Seems popular for takeout/delivery though. We will be back. Some of the best Mexican food we've had in the city.

Chicken tacos! As you can see I've started eating because a girl was hungry. They are BOMB! Especially if you put the green sauce, I even like the orange although it's spicy. It is worth the price!

This is my first ever yelp review - this place is so good that it forced me to break my no review streak! I've tried a handful of dishes through the years (enchiladas, tostadas, breakfast burritos, etc) and everything has always been well worth the price. Portions are always HUGE with fresh, never bland, ingredients. What got me to write this review is their carnitas - never soggy, perfectly tender, with heavenly pieces of crispy ends that had me ready to call the restaurant just to tell them I was nearly in tears over how good it was!!! This might be my favorite burrito ever, and definitely my favorite in nyc. Not to mention how kind and attentive the staff is every time I stop by. The guy at the counter always welcomes everyone with a huge smile. While I've always done takeout, they have a few tables to sit and enjoy a great meal in house. This place is a gem that I'll be dreaming about long after I've moved away!

One of my favorite places to get takeout from. Great tacos, guac, quesadillas, and the salsas are fantastic! Also, the breakfast burritos are 10/10 and so well priced, I love the chorizo with avocado. They're always quick and the guy at the front is always kind! Perfect lowkey spot for an easy meal

A high 3.5! The service is 5/5. The staff is so helpful, attentive and kind. There are 3-4 tables inside and it was pretty quiet as far as dine in. Their takeout was super busy though. The food was OK. I wish the quesadilla had more to it besides the fish & cheese. The churros were basically just the fried dough. I wish there was more sugar/cinnamon. The birria burrito was ok as well. Glad we gave it a try though, super nice staff.

Had a fantastic experience dining in! Service was wonderful and incredibly friendly from the moment we walked in, and they provided complimentary chips as well. There is limited seating, but not many people were dining in at the time so it was not an issue. Food was delicious, at an amazing price point as well. My fish on the nachos were crispy and the toppings were flavorful as well. The chips themselves were nice and crunchy. Churros were a fantastic way to end the meal, the perfect sweet treat, will definitely be back!

This place rocks! I came here after seeing the other positive yelp reviews, and they are so right! The food is delicious and the service is even better. I've been back twice and each time it is the same incredibly friendly guy who gives wonderful service. I highly recommend the carnitas tostada!

El Diablito Taqueria has quickly become our go-to Mexican in lower Manhattan. The food is absolutely delicious and generously apportioned. I am a huge fan of their fish and carnitas burritos, as well as their birria and al pastor tortas. My all-time favorite still remains the fish burrito, since the fish is wonderfully soft, flaky, and tender. One can hardly finish a whole burrito or torta, leaving yummy leftovers for another meal. During these cold winter months, they have really hit the spot in my craving for comfort food. They also do brisk, reliable delivery.

For COVID, they're takeout and delivery only. 6 feet social distance. There is a large sneeze guard at the door, you wait outside and they hand you your food. I love this place so much! I really think it's the best place to get tacos. Definitely recommend getting their fried fish tacos, shrimp tacos, steak quesadillas, and their tortas. Everything you get here is SO delicious. The man who took my order is very nice and efficient as well. I really hope this place never closes down.

Had dinner at this establishment, first the service was the worst. The food was horrible unfit for human consumption. If you're thinking about coming to this place for Cinco de Mayo pass it up, it'll ruin your evening .

Big fan of El Diablito! NYC doesn't have many great options for Mexican but I'm glad to have found this gem in East Village. I've come here a few times and definitely recommend the burritos and nachos. Both the steak and shrimp burrito are really good. Don't forget to douse it in the green and red salsas. The most recent time I got the spicy pork nachos and they were so good. Each chip was covered with toppings and not a single chip was dry. Haven't tried the tacos but I'm sure they're good too! Great service too!

We ordered take out of El Diablito Taqueria for the first time after trying to find a new taco joint to order from. We were actually really surprised with how much we like them. We ordered tacos and nachos. You can tell the tortillas are fresh made. And they were definitely not skimpy with the toppings.

Got takeout of 3 seafood tacos. Each taco was solid, good price for new york, and the hot sauces were great. Will definitely go back.

Today I came into El Diablito and ordered a Quesadilla birria with large guacamole and chip. The beverage of choice I would recommend is jarrito guava. The dish was well cooked and I stuffed. I recommend if need something to fill you up.

California girl here so I love a good burrito. I'm also vegan so usually my burritos are a little disappointing once I take out the meat, cheese, etc. Nothing like a floppy, half-filled tortilla when you're legitimately hungry for a burrito. This is not the case at El Diablito Taqueria! I got a bean and rice burrito and asked to add veggies since I can't do the meat. The burrito was packed full of deliciousness- the rice and black beans were seasoned to perfection and everything was freshly prepared so came out hot and fresh. Be sure to ask for a side of spicy salsa (or two) if you want to add a kick to your meal. Note to vegans - the rice, beans, and tortilla are all vegan! They also cooked my veggies in an oil, not butter so this place is safe but be sure to explain you don't want dairy as the menu items come with cheese and sour cream.

Interior: 3/5 Looking at old photos, they seemed to have changed the wall decor and setup of the store! Now, it looks a lot cozier and homely with sombreros and pretty paper decor on the ceiling! However, the lighting is really dim so it's not the best for photos! NOTE: This place smelled like watermelons for some reason which threw me off so much when I was biting into the salty chips. Service: 4/5 Orders are taken and paid at the cashier. I'm just really satisfied they give chips and cheese sauce/green sauce on the house! However, it can be hard to flag someone down since the worker kept disappearing into the kitchen. Food: Value: 4/5 Prices are pretty normal. I was full on just half the quesadilla for around 10 bucks so it was worth meal! Carne Asada Quesadilla: 5/5 After my previous experience with Mexican food, I was skeptical about eating Mexican food again. However, this place proved me wrong as either quesadilla in general or how this place made them blew my mind! It came with 4 slices. 4 filling slices, that is! Cheesy and delicious! I especially loved the bouncy, chewy texture of the steak! Just add some sour cream/cheese/green sauce on top and you get my 5/5 right there! Churros: 2/5 I was craving them churros that they often sold in subway stations and thought I would be getting the real deal churros if I got them here! And so I did! But this just made me realize I actually like the subway station churros better! Despite the churros being warm, biting into them was rock hard. They're thicker than the subway ones. And they tasted way more plain. I miss the churro lady at my stop. I don't know if it's just my friend's pick or how this place makes the quesadillas but they completely changed my experience of Mexican food. I would go back to try more foods!

What a stellar little spot that serves both delicious Mexican AND incredibly low prices. Kind people work there, too! The must gets are the small guacamole (which is a large at most overpriced places) and their homemade chips, the seared shrimp taco and the crispy carnitas. There's a table outside for dining on a nice day/with a dog. 5 Stars!!!!!!

Ordered from here because I was craving a quesadilla, and wound up also ordering rice and beans as well. The quesadilla was good (not particularly great, just mediocre). There was a good amount of cheese and pulled pork, and the pulled pork had a pretty decent flavor. It arrived still warm. The rice and beans were very bland, and it seems that there is no seasoning applied to them. I had to wind up getting out the Adobo to season them properly. All in all, I probably wouldn't order from here again... the food wasn't terrible, but there's a lot of Mexican food that is much better elsewhere and for a similar price point.

An easy go-to place to get high quality, clean and fast Mexican food. The steak or shrimp quesadillas are my personal to go and make this place somewhere I frequent probably too often! The 3 sauces they include with each plate is just icing on the cake. Also, Michael at the front brings top tier service each and every time and deals with the rush of doordashers and rude customers with ease. The dude deserves a raise. Cheers to more quesadillas!

Ordered dinner for myself and my partner, they left out half the order, when I called they literally said "it's not my problem" and hung up. I walked down to the place, showed them my receipt and the photo of the half of our order we actually received, they told me "call ubereats, it's not our problem." Uber eats just picks up what they pack; they never sent half my order and then basically told me "tough shit we already got your money." Absolute scumbags. (The half of the order we did get was soggy and not very good.

For some reason, many people have the idea that in order to come by good, authentic food, the service needs to be bad. You can't have both. El Diáblito Taqueria breaks this stereotype. Not only was the food excellent, but their service was even better! Attentive and kind is all you can ask for when you enter such an intimate space with a hungry stomach. My friend and I split a carne asada burrito and guacamole and chips. Amazing portions and get this: Free chip refills! What more can you ask for? Found my new favorite local spot.

Average. Came at 10:05. The register person says, are you ready? Because we are closing and you can't order. Serious? Food is average and too few chips for nachos so lots of meat wasted.

My parents are from Mexico so I have a high standard for Mexican food. You can't go wrong with anything at this place - it's our go-to! My (white) boyfriend dies for the breakfast burrito, it's his favorite thing. The chilaquiles are amazing, on the spicy side. I've had the birria taco, el Diablito, and carnitas tacos - all super tasty - I get full with 3 of them.

I've been eating here for years but over the last year, the speed and accuracy of their delivery business has gone downhill. On multiple occasions, the delivery estimate goes from 20-30 minutes to nearly 90 minutes to arrive, and the app tracking consistently shows the bottleneck is at the restaurant itself and not with the delivery partners being stuck in traffic. NINETY MINUTES. No warning. No apologies. Really disappointing.

My friend and I stopped by here for quick bite after getting tattoos nearby and we definitely both loved it. It looks pretty small and unassuming from the outside, but there were a lot of people coming in to pick up online orders while we were there. The man at the counter who took our orders was very nice and also suggested that I order the grilled fish taco, which I loved. If you check in on Yelp, you also get free chips and salsa! My friend ordered the El Diablito burrito (with spicy chorizo), which he really enjoyed. It was quite a large burrito and I got to try it - for sure super satisfying and hits the spot. I ordered three tacos - veggie, shrimp, and grilled fish. I think the veggie one was pretty average, but the shrimp was definitely my favorite. These are street-sized tacos that are simple yet satisfying. It's a nice and quiet place to chat and great especially if you are really hungry like we were. Overall, the prices are very reasonable, the food is delicious, and the service is great -- definitely a little hole in the wall worth visiting!

I have never ate at the restaurant- just ordered for delivery. Food is delicious. Only con for delivery is they only pack one small container of each sauce.

My favorite Mexican place in the city - it's a little hole in the wall with seating room for ~12 and amazing enchiladas. My go-tos are the carnitas, al pastor, and the El Diablito chorizo. They're also open on weekends at 11 and they have breakfast burritos that are great if your budget is running low (~$6). They make their own green tomatillo and habanero salsas, and give you chips with your meal. Also good for take-out if there's no room to sit down.

This place serves ridiculously good food. Whenever in doubt just go the pulled pork route. I've had the huarache, taco, enchilada, and nachos... all with pulled pork and they do not disappoint in the slightest. This place has a serious selection of Mexican dishes that can satisfy all types of walk-ins. It is a small spot with about 10 seats available, so do not be surprised or upset if you have to wait some time before someone gets up and leaves. If i'm being honest the prices are fair considering the cost of eating out now-a-days. My top 3 dishes to order: 1) Shrimp tacos(unbelievable flavor, and the simplicity of the taco allows you to taste the shrimp. They use two tortillas!). 2) Pulled Pork Huarache(Huaraches are my favorite Mexican dish, and you throw some juicy and tasty pulled pork on top, you have a match made in heaven). 3)Pulled pork nachos(the nachos from this place use what tortilla chips that are thicker than the usual and can actually hold a combo of cheese, meat, beans, hot sauce, sour cream for more than 3 seconds while you savor the first bite).

FINALLY I found a Mexican place that reminds me of California! If you're in California, you'd understand - tacos for Californians are like halal food in New York and I wanted to find a place that will give me that. Today I found it. Tucked between 3rd street and 2nd ave this cute little Mexican place serves tacos and various other Mexican plates. Tacos are my thing so the choice was easy. I got the veggie tacos that have a ton of veggies on them including corn, peppers, etc. I should mention they bring you chips and two salsas to start with - the green salsa and a light orange, spicy salsa. Both were excellent! The Salsa really makes a ton of difference. Also, the place is very clean and is nice to sit and eat. Will definitely visit many times again!
