El Katracho Restaurant

Overall the food was really good, the restaurant was clean, customer service is pretty poor, the lady that attended to us was not very friendly or look like she was happy in her job. The bill was a bit High because we were overcharged I had to bring it up to their attention because it was all handwritten. I would be careful with what you order and make sure that you check your bill before you pay. Also the wait time for your food to be served to you but time you order it is at least a 30 minute wait.

Great food and great customer service.

The waitreses are extremely rude. As you walk in they look at you as if they are judging you. If you ask what drinks they have they roll their eyes and tell you to look at the menu. Ive never had such a terrible experience. The food is incredibly sweet and overpriced. There are other Honduran restaurants in the area. I highly recomend you avoid this restaurant. If you want honduran food theres a good one in Sherman way and victory with beter service.

It’s a cute little place, depending on the day the women can either treat you nicely or rudely. Also depends if you are a female or a male. “Treated me disgusting compared to my husband”. I haven’t tried anything other than their baleadas as a Hondureña myself I know a good baleada when I see it. This one is not very good, beans are salty and tasteless. The tortilla is not soft a buttery. I’m pretty sure their beans are canned beans and that’s not authentic at all. 3 times we gave them a chance but I’m better off making them at home. Not returning and do not recommend. Also insanely priced $4 for a baleada sencilla just beans cheese and crema. I know a better place in LA for half the price.

The food is pleasantly light and tasty. The restaurant is clean and the service is genuine and courteous. I would come here again. I didn't know he was Honduran until I sat in the restaurant. It was a lot of fun.

Terrible service as always, food used to be good but balleadas were awful the last time. Dry tortillas, thin layer of beans, little cream and cheese centered in middle with a lollipop stick to boot. Yes there was an employee’s candy trash stuck to the foil wrapper. They some how removed my earlier review with photo. Also expensive: $38 pre tip for 2 orders bean n cheese balleadas and plantains.

The food was great, nice big portions and the flavor is authentic. it’s a nice little clean spot, very cozy, and the service is welcoming as well. Highly recommend 10/10!

EL KATRACHO On of the few Honduras Restaurants in the valley. It's has an overall "Family Restaurant " Environment , Classic Traditional Plates & Great Home cooking feel. In the previous years they had a stage where Music Dj s and bands would perform or they would host Karaoke Nights. The food flavors are definitely Authentic , they serve various Items that are original and exclusively from Honduras. TROPICAL - BANANA SODA HONDURAS Popular BEERS - PORT ROYAL & SALVA VIDAS. I took my GF to experience the Katracho Foodie scene. She already loves my home cooking but this restaurant serves what I like to call "UNIFORM" plates and servings. Allways dependable & just as expected ! Delicious & Freshly made. We ordered A traditional breakfast plate for her Desayuno con Carne (Steak Breakfast) Traditional Breakfast - Over medium Eggs , Blended refried beans , fried plantains , sour cream, avocado queso fresco (fresh cheese). And for myself I ordered A pollo con papas plate. (Fried chicken Breast ) with fried plantains topped with a unique delicious chicken dressing, served with a side of coleslaw with its own dressing. We shared a Classic Tradional Baleada. Baleada - Handmade Flour Tortilla covered with Blended beans , scrambled eggs and Avocado. Topped with sour cream and Cotija cheese . Can't ever go wrong with a BALEADA FOR BREAKFAST LUNCH OR DINNER. 2 beers (Port Royal /SalvaVidas) & a tropical banana soda to go. As far as service goes , everything did delay more than usual . We went during the weekend and it was pretty bussy with bigger parties.Hosting bigger family groups. Maybe more servers would help orders get pushed out faster. But over all the food was freshly made and worth the wait.

English/Spanish I dont really like to write reviews, but this has been one of the worst experiences ive had at a restaurant. i am dissapointed truly. ive been going to this restaurant for years and it was always pretty good or ok enough for me to come back but today i went in and i stood around to be seated for 3-5 minutes, no one came and then a friend and i sat ourselves at a table and waited about 10-13 minutes and not a hello or welcome or a to take a drink order just walked by. I eventually went up to the counter to ask if we had to order at the register when this woman said she would take our order. She has a disgusting attitude, got my order wrong and i told the other waitress about the mistake and she was nice about it but the other lady loudly responds trying to defend herself trying to blame me? when my spanish is good? she also came and took our plates when my friend wasnt done she did it without asking. she said she would bring the check i just walked to the front to pay and leave i didnt want to make a scene and disturb others but i will definitley be warning others about this place. I am a server as well and i would never treat a costumer like i was today. Owners do better, great staff is key to success. He estado yendo a este restaurante durante años y siempre fue bastante bueno o lo suficientemente bueno como para volver, pero hoy entré y me quedé parado para que me sentaran durante 3 a 5 minutos, nadie vino y luego un amigo y yo nos sentamos. Nos sentamos en una mesa y esperamos entre 10 y 13 minutos y ni un saludo ni una bienvenida ni un pedido de bebidas simplemente no pasaban . Finalmente me acerqué al mostrador para preguntar si teníamos que hacer un pedido en la caja registradora cuando esta mujer dijo que tomaría nuestro pedido. Ella tiene una actitud repugnante, se equivocó en mi pedido y le conté a la otra mesera sobre el error y ella fue amable al respecto, pero la otra señora responde en voz alta tratando de defenderse y tratando de culparme. cuando mi español es bueno? ella también vino y tomó nuestros platos cuando mi amiga no terminó, lo hizo sin preguntar. ella dijo que traería el cheque. Simplemente caminé hacia el frente para pagar y salir. No quería hacer una escena y molestar a los demás, pero definitivamente advertiré a los demás sobre este lugar. También soy mesera y nunca trataría a un cliente como me hicieron hoy. Los dueños tienen que hacer mejor, un excelente personal es la clave del éxito.

I needed a quick bite before an appt. Just walked in and ordered some diner. Was tasty and the chips came with some kind of Sauce which was nice. The server provided great customer service as I was the only one in the restaurant! The space was clean and nice

Been here many times over the years. Service has always been poor but baleadas were good enough to keep me coming back. This time they were so skimpy, dry, and bland. Also expensive for what you get or i was overcharged for eggs and avo when they were bean and cheese only. Disgustingly, there was also a lollipop stick stuck to the inside of foil wrapping the food. I might have preferred a hair instead. Seems like im paying more as they get worse. They've failed on food, cleanliness, price, and service. Dont like giving bad restaurant reviews cuz it's such a tough industry but what else could go wrong here?

The is the best Honduran restaurant! My family and I came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The dishes are authentic and delicious. The back room is big, accommodating parties. They play the jams which sets the vibe and it's just a great time with good food. My favorite is the baleada with beans and cheese. I eat two and take two home. The tortilla is like no other, addictively good. Honduran enchiladas are what we typically think a tostada is. But either way it's delicious. I also really like chips and salas they serve when you sit down. If you're looking for authentic food or are curious about Honduran food, you must try this place.

Service sucks. food is ok will not go back. People who work here have no idea how customers should be treated. Don't ask questions because you will be directed to read the menu, not kid friendly if I could give zero stars would. Horrible experience!!!

My in laws are Honduran and this was mine and my husband's first time at a Honduran restaurant. We'll be back soon! Food was delicious and filling. I'm glad the waitress told me to order 1 instead of 2+ baleadas. One was satisfying enough for me. Waitress was sweet enough to give me an English menu haha Once seated, we were served tortilla chips that had a really tasty sauce (sweet, tomato?) and some cheese (maybe cotija). I had to move the basket of chips away from me to make sure i was sharing. They were that good haha. I ordered the tamarind drink. I love tamarind but I'm used to eating the candies. To have it in drink form was pretty cool. They have a good variety of drinks to choose from. Setting was very homey. We went on a Friday night. There was music playing and I liked every song. Food made me happy dance to the great choice in music. I wanna go back to try their seafood soup. Thank you El Katracho! :)

El Katracho is a Honduran restaurant in Sherman Oaks. The baleadas seem to be a popular dish here. To be honest, I was rather ravenous, so I ordered the Sopa de Caracol. Sopa de Caracol: This is a rich golden yellow chowder of roots and tubers and conch. Conch is a mollusk, like a sea snail or abalone. It is firm like an abalone and subtle in flavor like a clam. The conch is cooked in conch broth and coconut milk for a sweet and tangy flavor. Strips of cassava lend a nice starchy and gummy texture. (I just learned that yuca and cassava are the same thing. It's what boba is made of.) Chunks of plantains provide sweetness to the savory soup, as do the carrots. Bits of cilantro add zest. There's no shortage of carbs in this dish. On the side you have rice and corn tortillas. They also serve tortilla chips before serving your meal.

We just moved to the neighborhood and we noticed they play soccer games on the TVs so my husband and I decided to go check out the US game and have some baleadas. The tortillas were sooooo soft and delicious, I only wish I had more space in my stomach to eat another. The service was great but you have to remember they make the dishes fresh for us and that takes time, we also went in during a busy time and there was only one server so you just have to be patient but while we waited we snacked on some yummy chips with frijoles sauce, so simple yet so good!!! I was very pleased to try traditional Honduran food for the first time! It was so hard to pick a meal from the menu since they offer such a wide variety. I decided to order the El Katracho which comes with a little bit of everything. It was absolutely delicious! Although, this place is open until midnight, dining hours vary, which I was not aware of. I recommend calling ahead of time to ask what their dining hours are. While we waited for our food, I noticed that the restaurant is clean, lively, and family friendly. I will definitely come back to dine in!

The food is really good and feels super authentic which is what makes this place so popular, the main thing they need to improve on or actually be conscious of is their service, they do not check on your table at all while waiting over 30 minutes for your food. I don't know what's up with people saying the waitresses are rude, the younger ones at least seem to be very nice. Not warm but polite enough. I ordered coffee and a water and never got the water so I'm here thirsty wondering if I'm going to get my water. The ambiance is nice, very cute, very quaint. Can get crowded on a busy day. Parking is in the rear which isn't too bad. Definitely recommend if you have time to kill and don't mind waiting EXTRA for some great food.

Baleadas are delicious and big! Definitely does not disappoint. Please be patient. Every time I've gone it has been in the morning so little to no wait. Parking is in the rear enter from the gas station next door. I've had the baleadas, the banana soda, and a few of the desserts. I love this place because I miss Honduras so much! I'm from Choluteca Honduras so it has a catracha approval! Comida hondureña deliciosa! Las cipotas son muy amables y las baleadas son hechas a mano y grandes! Traigan dinero cash! Pero si acceptan tarjetas. Les cobran $1 extra por pagar con tarjetas.

I have to say the food was so delicious. I had ordered baleadas con frijoles frito, queso y crema. My daughter loved them! I got the enchiladas and they were phenomenal. This will be my to go to for Honduran food. Eating this food took me back to spending my summers with my oldest cousin. Also you can never go wrong ordering the banana soda. One thing though, I came on a Friday at 6:30 pm. The service was a little slow. Their was only one person handling the orders and being the cashier. It did get pack by 7:30 pm and I did see a few parties having to wait a while to order their food. So with that they do lose a star but overall it was delicious!!

Does anyone who hire spanish that speaks english in this restaurant its so hard to get an order by phone .. they hang up cause im ordering for pick up and they didnt understand what i wanted .

Fui por un caldo de gallina, y me dieron caldo de jetas. Pareciera que fui a pedir de regalado el caldo de $20.00, donde un salero esta mejor preparado. Lamento que la persona duena de este lugar tenga empelados que pongan el negocio de laguien que ha trabajado duro para que esten en funcion, le recomendaria que les den unos cursos de servicio al cliente a la muchacha del frente dando la cara del negocio.

Truly excellent, thoughtfully homemade Honduran cuisine. This restaurant is not about ambiance or service, often it can take quite a bit of time for food to come, and that is because it is all thoughtfully and carefully handmade to order. All of the meats are carefully marinated, the masa is ground in house, and you can taste the love in every bite.

La comida no esta mal el servicio esta por el suelo esas mujeres no tienen educación ni saben dar un buen servicio al cliente..... Semitas katrachas es otro restaurante mejor y con mejor servicio.......mejor coman en otro lugar no vale la pena este restaurante

fui a pasar un buen tiempo con mi familia y solo recibí una mala experiencia con la persona que nos dejaron para empezar nos atendió de mala manera y con mala gana nos dejos esperando por vario tiempo para hacerse a preguntar si necesitamos algo cuando no nos pregunto si vamos a tomar o algo como se acostumbra esperamos y nos dejo la cómoda no volvió y cuando me da mi recibo me está diciendo que tengo que dejar tip obligatoriamente que por que así dice y que si no leii el menu me hablo de mala manera y me cobro 18 de tip cuando lo único que hizo fue dejar la comida y irse no pregunta estan bien o necesita algo pero si me cobro más tip que taxes 8 de taxes y el doble de tip no es justo eso el tip es algo que. uno decide dejar por cómo te atienden y ella lo exigio más que eso lo cubro que mala experiencia

I'm not gonna lie the food is delicious but the prices are extremely high.Their service is horrible almost an hour wait for my food they forgot to put the order in didn't even come around to see if we needed anything really disappointed. Sad to say wouldn't come here again or recommend this place. Not friendly welcome.

Unos de los peores restaurantes hondureños, fui a cenar con mi familia a eso de las 9:40 pm y nos dijieron que solo para llevar tenían. y no solo eso las empleadas del restaurante empezaron a ablar entre ellas que ni siquiera para llevar nos ubieran ofrecido. Pésimo servicio al cliente. Nos retiramos antes que nuestra comida saliera algo Raro....

Baleadas are my new obsession! You can definitely taste the authenticity in their food. I can't wait to go back and try other options.

I love the food in this place, they take a long time to cook it so we order over the phone when we leave the house and food is ready when we get there, all the workers are very nice too.

The location needs improvement and a good interior remodel, you know what they say, "if it ain't broken why fix" wrong if it needs improvement, do it. But the food is amazing the baleadas are some of the best, the infamous sopa de caracol is probably one of the best i ever tried. I highly recommend the grilled chicken! Yuca con chicharrón is amazing and don't forget, they also have really amazing breakfast and a very traditional Macheteada. I must say the prices are a little to high.

The food is very delicious, definitely worth the wait! Freshly cooked food is always going to take a bit longer to be served. So you just have to be mindful of that when you come here.The prices are affordable, and the service is welcoming. I would definitely go back again.

This spot used to be my favorite and they have just gone done hill from the years and not getting better it sucks I have to let this place go and see less business there. They are cheaper with their materials and product like look at the tortillas.

I was doing laundry across the street and decided to grab a quick bite being specifically curious about the baleadas since that's what most reviews mention. The dish was not too bad, if anything it was a bit bland but flavor wise it was good. What really ruined the experience was the service, since it was not only slow, but made me feel like they didn't even care I was there. Sorry, next time I'm doing laundry I'll be going to the pizza place right next door.

Pretty good spot for Honduran food I guess. This was my first time trying out the food and it was good. The menu is very simple... Try the baleadas those where enough for my appetite ( I ordered 2) the mango margaritas where yummy. My buddy ordered the Katracho breakfast .. Ir had eggs with ham, beans, platoons fritos ( fried platains) cheese n cream. That's a typical Honduran or Salvadorean breakfast.. I wanted to order the coconut soup wit crab but it's was a super HOT day i'n the valley that a soup wouldn't be right.. I'll def go back .. Pretty chill spot to meet up with a friend.

BEST quality Honduran food in LA county. Coming from Honduran natives, this means a lot. The food always taste fresh and delicious. Very accommodating to Vegans and Vegetarians. Price is great, mostly everything is under $14. Photos do no justice. Definitely a must try. Plus, I believe it turns into a lounge with live music at night.

This restaurant never fails me!! I'm half Honduran and it makes me feel like Great to actually feel the full culture. The wonderful lady's work really hard , much respect ! Perfect place to do karokee and dance punta ! I just LOVEEE coming here! My cousins have come down from South LA just to eat their famous baliadas !

Service was horrible, wait time was horrible, food was horrible. My husband is from Honduras and he said it was the worst food he has ever had. So dissatisfied with everything about this place.

You have to work around how ghetto it is to eat here. Whatever you do, DONT THE USE BATHROOM, you will see the kitchen ! It's a rap after that. Food looks and taste like the kitchen, no AC. They treat you terrible if you don't speak Spanish and make you feel un welcomed.

Chicken with tajadas mixed is the best!!! I also recommend the boliadas with beans cheese egg sour cream and avocado. The seafood soup is also bomb, I mean whatever you decide to eat here you won't regret. Delicioso

Horrible service not only was she rude from the start she spent 10minutes gossiping with a client while we waited for our check after waiting 40 minutes for our food. To top it off she came to stop us to say we owed her an extra $10 dollars after showing her the receipt she provided. How ridiculous if that's the only waitress this place has I feel sorry for the owners.
