My girlfriend said they have the best burritos so I went over to give them a try during the lunch hour. The line was reasonable but long so I was excited to try them out. I couldn't tell if they do cash and card but I took cash to be safe. I saw a lot of tortas coming out!! I almost changed what I went for but stuck to trying the burrito. They are quick and lively which is nice. The cashier was nice and helpful. Ordering process is smooth and I did takeout. When I got home I dug into my order. I ordered 2 asada burritos one with veggies one without and 2 asada tacos with extra lemon. They were spot on with my order. Woo-hoo!! Okay now the order... The asada tacos are just okay for me. I know they have won the taco throw down in the past and go back and forth with La Elegante for best tacos in Fresno so I give them much respect! They are Fresno legends but i am not a fan. On to my issue and why I won't be back... The tacos were okay. Just average for me (I'm an asada taco self-professed connoisseur). The burrito is what I went for. They grill the burrito shell which is perfect! The lettuce and tomatoes don't warm up so you still get the veggies taste. I don't think the veggies do anything for the burrito. You could easily do a regular burrito no veggies (add sour cream) and get more flavor imo. The Meat!! Here is where I won't be back. I bit into some strange things from the grill THROUGHOUT my burrito. Both burritos. I finally took a video of it because I couldn't believe my entire burrito was riddled with...burnt grill. I called to advise the manager to tell the cooks that they need to be cautious not to serve burnt grill matter and pass it off as meat because someone could get sick. They offered me to come get a refund (which i should have spending $30 bucks on 2 tacos and 2 burritos with bad meat) but because I do understand small business said no just tell the cooks to be cautious with orders. What I didn't like was the response I got. I wasn't asking for a refund I just wanted the cooks to be safe and cautious with people's food. The line was too long for this to be the norm but for some reason mine was awful. I was polite and smiled the entire time. They served several orders that came in after mine but my order eventually came out as I patiently waited and BAM it was a total disaster. I am sharing the video as I would want to know and that's why I do lengthy reviews. I will not be back nor can I recommend.

Got me and the wife some food. 1 breakfast burrito 🌯 = bacon ham eggs potatoes beans and cheese 2 tripas tacos 1 bowl of menudo 1 large horchata with one refill Grand total of 45 dollars Food was great just don't like the parking situation they have. Also no fountain drinks but a liquor store next door for drinks.

Google
Delicious tacos! They don't skimp, tacos were well filled. It wasn't busy inside but we did wait awhile for our take away order because they seem to take a lot of phone orders with people coming in for pick up. If you know what you want, call ahead. We were looking for quesabirria, they don't have. Told they do at other location just on Thursdays. The place may be unassuming, but don't be intimidated, one of the best taco places!

Google
Whoaaaa ...this was the best burrito everrr...bacon wrapped burrito! Phenomenal is the best I have ever had. So fulling! I will definitely go back as often as I can! We also bought a torta. However, I was so full eating just half of my burrito ... 🌯 trust me, this is the best! You have to go! THE BEST!

Google
Place looks a bit scary with the bars in the doors and windows but the tacos were amazing. Would highly recommend the adobada, cabeza, and lengua personally and friends enjoyed the pollo as well.

Google
First time here. The food was great! The location was a busy small and full. Parking on the street was an option we had to take. Not really a place to go to at night. The service was quick and the music loud. But, it was good.

Google
The tacos were great, but the service was disappointing. When I asked for an extra chile, the staff seemed irritated, even though I was willing to pay for it. If there’s a charge for extras, it should be clearly stated. Additionally, the cleanliness of the restaurant was not up to par. Overall, it was an experience, but the attitude from the staff made it less enjoyable.

Google
For the best tacos and authentic Mexican food this is always my first and only choice! I love the bacon wrapped carne asada burritos with the green salsa! It’s a must if you haven’t tried them!! 🙌🏽🥰👍🏽

Yelp
I am a Fresno local, and I tried this spot for the very first time the other day. I randomly chose it off of Google lol. I can admit I'll be coming back again for sure! Their asada tacos are the best I have had in a really long time. The staff are very resourceful and polite. The location is a bit sketch, but that's never been a problem for me. My bf had the wet burrito with red sauce and it was .

Yelp
Best burritos and tortas in fresno also open super late only bad part is it's in sketchy parts of Fresno

Yelp
We were traveling back home from Northern CA and decided to stop here on our way home, the place was open late so we decided to stop by. There's so many great Yelp reviews by a lot of Yelpers I know so automatically I thought this place would be fantastic. This place might be fantastic to others, but I'm only basing this review solely on my own experience so I highly recommend that you give this place a shot for your own experience because you might end up loving this place. When we got to the place the area reminded me of my childhood hometown (Delano) and my husband's hometown (Earlimart), so I thought to myself that we hit the jackpot since all those spots that look iffy usually end up being one of the best places to eat. The music was super loud and it definitely reminded me of my hometown. My husband got the bacon wrapped burrito; however, I got the Cuban sandwich. We used to have a nice Cuban restaurant in Bakersfield that I miss and so when I saw that on their menu, I knew I had to check it out. We also ordered a few tacos and I didn't look at my food til we headed out. I took a bite of my sandwich and it tasted familiar but I couldn't make it out, so I flashed my light on it and low and behold it was bar s hotdogs and bologna. I'm not knocking it, I grew up on bar s hotdogs, but that's not a Cuban sandwich. I was super disappointed. Maybe I chose the wrong item here. I absolutely hate non charred bar s hotdog and I'm not a fan of bologna, so if I ever was in town, I would never get that sandwich again. I felt bad giving such a low rating because the staff was superb and really friendly. Maybe they just had an off night when I came. I definitely believe you should check this place out because you might love it, it's just not for me.

Yelp
Food was 10/10 service/ hospitality 10/10 Ambiance 10/10 Great prices with portion of food

Yelp
Love el premio mayor. Whenever I tell people to get tacos in the area, I always recommend this place. Their meat is well seasoned, portions are large, and it is authentic. This is my favorite place to get tacos and burritos in the Central Valley
google avatar

Yelp
How have I not left a review here before!! This is the best taco/burrito spot in Fresno!! The bacon wrapped burrito is amazing and so are the regular ones but come on BACON! Tacos are amazing! Sopes are amazing! Asada is my favorite. I wish it was located closer to me. The staff is so nice to me even though there is a language barrier. I would say it could be a little cleaner but I think it's just because it's an old run down building They are also open early for breakfast!!

Yelp
Tortas or Mexican sandwiches served on a bun are this restaurant's claim to fame. Of course, the tacos, in addition to their options for burritos (original, wet burrito, breakfast burrito, and bacon-wrapped burrito) are popular menu choices and loyal patrons will say are must-orders. The horchata and aqua frescas are also very good here. Other items on the menu include taquitos, enchiladas, gorditas, sopes, quesadillas, Menudo (weekends only), nachos, tostadas, and even a bacon-wrapped hot dog (ala Mexican street-style). Solid, authentic Mexican food. I liked but did not love anything I ordered. Open late (until 10 pm) Monday to Thursday, and until 11 pm from Friday to Sunday. It is a tiny taqueria with limited seating. More seats are available during the day with an open-ceiling dining section adjacent to the restaurant, which only has three tables and six chairs inside. Not recommended during winter months, however, because there is no outdoor lighting or heating. It may also be worth noting that the taqueria is located off of McKinley Avenue, near North First Street - a very sketchy section of town.

Yelp
4/18/23 Getting lunch! Pollo Torta with no mayo or sour cream. Extra chicken and extra hot sauce on the side. The worker was kind and said it would be ready in 20 minutes. I went in to get it. Greeted by a nice worker and it was ready. Paid for the order with well wishes! Small place. Spanish music playing. Pollo Torta split! My half was really fresh and delicious! Fresh bread, tasty fresh jalapeños and shredded chicken! Really great hot sauce to spice it up and make it even better! Great! Mother said her half was great! She said it was fresh with great flavor!! Good service and Great Pollo Torta! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Terrific street tacos, our go-to for tacos in Fresno. Quite often I'm the only guero in the joint, and that's ok! Always friendly customers, it can be noisy when they're crowded, but we always get ours to go.
google avatar

Pinguino K.

Yelp
We stopped here on a road trip cuz we skimmed an article about Fresno having a food truck festival, and this family run chain having won a few times. My bf got some tacos and I got the chicken flautas. They were super good, crispy and flavorful. We loved the salsa. The rice was delicious. It was really cost effective, too. We were really happy about this find.

Yelp
The food was delicious, I did have to ask for some cheese on something I would have thought had cheese, but it was great either way and they brought it out quickly. The ambiance is delightful and it's well staffed .

Aliene L.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to eating a grilled chicken delicious scrumptious lumptious burrito. As soon as I bit into the burrito I realized there was shredded chicken. If I would've known it was shredded I would've taken myself to food Maxx. Very unfortunate

Yelp
This place has really good tacos, burritos and sopes! Definitely a good spot for a quick taco run.

Yelp
Best street taco in town. Sketch location for women alone though in the dark, late at night.

Yelp
It's hard for me to judge Mexican restaurants since I cook better than most of them thanks to my incredible Mexican parents. That being said, if you like Chipotle's garbage food, then this place will feel like a Michelin starred restaurant (not that I've ever been to one). You can find better tacos at the taco truck next to the junkyard off Jensen Ave. When you come here, go for the burritos. Both the bacon wrapped and the salsa/cheese smothered ones are good. If you can, smuggle a fork from home, then do so cause it's almost impossible to eat them with the dinky plastic ones available in the restaurant. The service here is always courteous and they get your order right every time. I hope they get the tips they deserve. P.s. they only have mild salsa.

Yelp
Still searching for the ultimate carne asada tacos... Honestly, this place might be "the one". It doesn't look like much from the outside. And this area in general isn't one we felt all that comfrotable or safe. But that's why they invented "to-go". We got our tacos, drove a bit away, and enjoyed some truly delectable carne asada tacos. The best we've had outside of Mexico in a very long time. Dare I say it... not to be missed.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem! The tortas are to die for ! Perfect in every way !!! This place has some tables but I feel like most of the patrons do to go? Fast and friendly and wonderful customer service
google avatar

Nancy A.

Yelp
My boyfriend is in love with their tortas. I am in love with their delicious tacos and agua de horchata. My boyfriend can't wait to go back to try the bacon wrapped burrito. They have a beautiful outside dining set up as well, you just have to enter it through a door from inside the restaurant. My favorite place to go for tacos. Their service is fast even on busy days and the quality is always great.
google avatar

Erin E.

Yelp
Still the best carne asada tacos in Fresno in a brick and mortar location. Tortas de jam on are pretty good too. Don't mind the location, they have a security guard that watches your vehicles for you.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Still a go to place when wanting tacos. I've had their bacon wrapped burrito which is pretty bomb but of course fattening lol
google avatar

Ermila W.

Yelp
It's voted number one and NO LIES have been told the ordering is easy the wait time is lil to none for superior burritos like these! Man hands down one of my favorite places to get a burrito i'll travel near or far for their food. I put the whole work team on. We make lunch orders I pick up we all enjoy, Never as of yet had a mistake made with my food. The ladies are magicians and can multitask amazingly, so don't get discouraged when you see her at the cash register, totaling, pouring a horchata and calling out an order they got this!! their menu provides the chef kiss their soapes are A1. The only aggravating part is parking i'm from the hood i will never pull up in a space that has only one exit! nope so park on the street easy out for me. Pulling up in their small compact parking lot with 4 stalls will not be me! other then outside parking i have no complaints. Their name speak for itself! #1
google avatar

Yelp
The very definition of a hole in the wall. Very Good food. Welcoming wait staff. Sorta hard to find - just east of a hand car wash but worth finding.
google avatar

Titus K.

Yelp
Great food. Torta's and wet burritos are great.

Naomi S.

Yelp
The best tacos/burritos/tortas in Fresno! They never miss and their quality is consistent. The chicken tacos are personally my favorite and I wouldn't get chicken tacos anywhere else.
google avatar

Cecilia S.

Yelp
As soon as you walk in, there's a counter with a large menu behind it with all the items they have to offer. If you don't understand Spanish or have any prior knowledge, you might have a hard time ordering because the menu is in mostly Spanish. Once you order they give you a ticket with a number on it and they'll call it out once it's ready. You can order for dine in or take out. If you dine in, they have tables outdoors in their little patio that's safe from the outside. They also have indoor seating but it was unclear as to if people actually eat in there because all the customers waiting for their orders were chilling on the tables and stuff. The burritos were nice and full of meat and other fillings, the salsa was nice and spicy while also flavorful. The cashier was super nice and patient despite the large line of customers and incoming orders. Nice little place to get Mexican food late at night.
google avatar

Gardenia D.

Yelp
My favorite place to get asada burritos and tortas! Wait time is normally 10-20 minutes but their service is still quick and amazing!

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise this place turned out to be. Went with my fiancé Sunday evening just before 9pm and it's definitely not an area where you would want to be at by yourself at night. Located next to a liquor store this location really is sketchy. Masks required upon entry, when we came in and there was no one there besides 6 workers and we were greeted. Everyone was so kind and friendly. I ordered 4 carne asada tacos and my fiancé ordered one asada, one lengua, and a cabeza. Once we paid our order was ready in 2 mins! They were so quick, we also requested for grilled onions and jalapeños. It was a 10 min drive home and the food was still warm and delicious, these tacos are legit. Authentic and the flavors were all there my fiancé enjoyed his lengua and cabeza tacos, we will definitely be returning . They were so good. Highly recommend! Prices are currently $2/taco.

Yelp
Butritos are a bit small but they are tasty The tacos are also good.. especially the tripas

Yelp
I love this place. Super good food, always. Everyone there is very nice and the vibe is super chill.

Yelp
Love getting the wet green burrito. Phone might be busy so just keep calling. Parking it's super small so you might to park in at

Yelp
Best carnitas tacos in town!! Anadarko is excellent also. Service is quick..prices reasonable. No ambience, but that's not expected in quality authentic Mexican restaurants!

Yelp
If you are looking for a nice atmosphere, this is NOT for you! If you're looking for some good Mexican fast food then come here. It's a hole in the wall with very little parking, we had to park on the street. The restaurant is old and run down and looking inside makes you want to go elsewhere, but don't. I had two Asada tacos with an awesome salsa and enjoyed every bite! My wife ordered the Flauntes and got what was actually rolled tacos or taquitos. They were beef with corn tortillas and deep fried, she was disappointed as they are always in flour tortillas. They were covered in cheese, avocados and a sauce and I tried them and thought they were really good, but should have used flour torts. The rice and beans were good. Most if the busy business came from local hard laborers and talking to them they love their food. I found their food and prices were excellent and if you can put up with no atmosphere but really good food, go here. They have another location on Maroa, and they are the ones who make a super special taco but only on Thursdays. My grandson says they also have a cheese taco shell that's super good, gonna have to try them.

Yelp
Always good food, bit of a wait, ambiance is more fast paced, to go focused good sopes

Yelp
We ordered large trays for a reception, and this food was so delicious. The ladies who helped us were GREAT!!! So nice!! We had placed an order the week before, then the day of, determined we needed to order another tray of Chile verde, and they had it ready to go, so we just had to pay and then and there got another tray. We were so grateful that they were able to accommodate us quickly, that same day. The rice and beans were very good. They gave us warm tortillas (not homemade, but understandable). But the main event was the Chile Verde, oh man, they sear the pork meat and then I'm assuming slow cook it, because you get very moist meat with brown on it. It's so delicious. Just enough heat for great flavor, but not overwhelming, for those who don't like heat. MUST TRY!! We ordered about 12-13 lbs of Chile verde (with the extra tray) and a large tray of beans and large tray of rice. We had enough for 27 people to eat and get seconds if they wanted, plus almost everyone took leftovers home. Side note because I don't want people being jerks to these awesome folks. Ellos hablan español (They speak Spanish here) and a little English. Point is, if you want some BOMB food, and you don't speak español, be nice and at least know your order (You got this!)

Danny D.

Yelp
The best Mexican food in town As a fresno local, I have toured many other Mexican food spots. Although I have enjoyed trying many, none could top El Premio. The service, food, and options are always top tier. The addition of the asada fries was a GENIUS move, and it's delicious! Highly recommend
google avatar

Paula N.

Yelp
The food was freaking delicious!!! The place might not be the nicest from the outside or the inside. The service was great the lady was very nice. If I ever find myself in Fresno and craving good quality food you know where I'll be!!!

Maggie G.

Yelp
Amazing food! Amazing horchata! Honestly, it reminded me of a taqueria from my childhood and brought great memories!

Brenda R.

Yelp
The tacos are so good!!!! My favorites are cabeza y tripas!! The tripas as si crunchy and tasty we are obsessed with them!!
google avatar

Dalia D.

Yelp
Service is always great. I was kinda upset today because my breakfast burrito was drenched in oil therefore I was unable to eat it . Sadly, I was disappointed this time.
google avatar

Kimbęrlÿ C.

Yelp
Probably some of the most authentic Mexican food I've had in California! I love going to taco trucks and Mexican restaurants but this one takes the cake, I LOVED it. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great Mexican food. I would definitely come back.!
google avatar

Molly L.

Yelp
We came here for dinner last weekend. We ordered a Wet burrito with asada, a taco with asada and a side of rice and beans. The wet burrito was fresh and a generous portion. The red sauce was good but very salty. But the meat was tender and fresh. The taco was very good, but there was a lot of oil on the tortilla itself. The rice was soft, but the beans were awful. They were bland and had no flavor at all - it was the worst part of this meal, which is surprising. There was not even cheese in the beans like there usually is. It was my first time here and was surprised they had a huge parking lot to itself. The place was busy and pretty crowded but luckily there were tape marks so people could stand about 6 feet apart.

Yelp
The Chile Relleno burrito is soooo delicious!!! My friends and I can eat this burrito every Friday during Lent!
google avatar

Erik L.

Yelp
During the daytime my go to place for tacos is La Elegante and it is hard to find someone at their level. El premio mayor did not disappoint, it was the perfect late night taco stop (midnight). I had an asada torta and it was amazing. I loved the grilled bread as it added an extra dimension of crunch. The asada was flavorful and tender. There are a lot more menu options and I cannot wait to come back and try more.

Yelp
The dude and I came to El Premio Mayor sometime in December 2019. I am always looking on yelp for new places to try and when I saw that they had BACON wrapped burritos I had to go!!! The dude and I arrived around 1pm or 2pm. First off I will say that parking is VERY tight, meaning there is very limited parking and we got lucky. The parking lot is shared with a liquor store. I didn't realize that this restaurant is kinda located on the rough side of town. So be careful. There was a liquor store right next door which several sketchy looking dudes were outside in the front blocking the entrance to that liquor store. Anywho, there were a few patrons inside eating. We got in line. I got the Bacon wrapped Burrito which was so good! I believe I got chicken with the works with no guacamole. The dude got enchiladas which were yummy! We also got a Horchata which was delicious. Not too overly sweet, it was just right. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I failed to mention that a little boy (around age 12ish) took our order. More and more people were arriving when the dude and I were there. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I joked with my dude that there's a possibility his wheels may be gone if we stay too long. Definitely a place to try! I recommend the bacon wrapped burrito! You won't be disappointed and the wait time is not bad at all. Will be back soon.

Yelp
I ordered Bacon wrapped asada burrito. So good. The meat is good, well done, not very much fat. I love that. Service wasn't too good at this location. Waited a few minutes before they asked if I had been helped. Once I ordered, I waited about 15 minutes then took it to go. Food 10/10 Customer service 3/10

Travis S.

Yelp
service is bad dishonest business. said food would be a 20 minute wait and made the wait two times as long

Yelp
Service was great , went In Saturday to order something affordable and filling and got my food within 10mins , burrito was great and the ambiance there was great . You get your food hot, fresh and fast the agua frescas are always on point .

Yelp
I was looking for a place a couple of weeks ago to get a catering tray of tacos, rice and beans when I came across El Premio Mayor's stellar reviews on Yelp. After reading several glowing reviews about this place, I knew I had to give it a shot. I am familiar with this part of town, and it is putting it nicely by saying that this location is sketchy. The place is very small and there really isn't any parking in front of the restaurant. You have to park about 100 yards away to the West. Upon entering, I was surprised at how hot it was inside. It was basically the same temperature as outside but a little more humid. The music was really loud which wouldn't normally bother me, but I couldn't hear the woman at the register, and she could not hear me. We communicated through a combination of loud words and pointing and I ordered a carne asada burrito with some grilled jalapeno and onion on the side. The food was ready within 5 min or so and I grabbed the bag and headed back to my office. Upon sitting down to eat at my office I noticed that there were no grilled jalapeno and onions. Oh well, no big deal really. I got my burrito out to add the chile to it and was a bit surprised at the size. It wasn't very big for a $10 burrito. I thought to myself that doesn't matter if it is as good as all the reviews say. It wasn't, however. It was actually not very good at all. Appallingly bland and oily. Even with the chile it was still bland. I had to open it back up and put the lemon in it just so it tasted like something. I was so ready for this to be an awesome experience after reading all the good reviews and that they won the taco truck showdown. I don't know if this place is under new management or something but I don't see how this place gets such great reviews. As I mentioned, it was not a very big burrito but it turns out that it didn't matter because I threw half of it away. It just wasn't worth eating past enough to keep me from getting hangry until dinner.

Yelp
I wish this restaurant's food wasn't so good, because they deserve full five stars for that. Unfortunately however, their service, environment, and habitually incorrect orders, makes them a one star venue. The taqueria is small, hot, cramped, and definitely will always have a dope fiend casually strolling through. The girl at the counter, has zero customer service etiquette, rather just rude and dismissive. They don't serve carnitas, ever, only their other location does, but, it's not open on Mondays, forcing customers to go to this desolate location. Then there's the incorrect orders habit, but if you ask them for a specific extra item that you'll pay for, front counter lady denies it or says it's included, and guess what, it's never included. Then when you tell them the mistake, the cooks and the front counter girl behave as if you the customer is out of line for asking them to correct the issue. Huge epic fail.

Yelp
The food is good no doubt about that. I always get the burritos here but lately they haven't been the same. Not so much as the taste but the size. They cut back a bit. But the taste is the same good seasoning. The grilled onions are always on point with the tacos.
