The Best Birria Tacos In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"El Primo Red Tacos hopped on the 2020 birria train and never got off. This casual Downtown taqueria takes birria and applies it to everything you can imagine: smashburgers, nachos, and tostadas. They have about five tacos on the menu, but the contents are mostly the same—and always involve birria. These aren’t tacos so good you'll write about them in your journal—they’re the kind that gets the job done on a Monday when you need a quick lunch to silence the stomach gurgles. For those occasions, our favorite order here is the quesabirria. " - Ryan Pfeffer, Virginia Otazo

El Primo Red Tacos - Review - Downtown - Miami - The Infatuation

"El Primo Red Tacos hopped on the 2020 birria train and never got off. This casual Downtown taqueria takes birria and applies it to everything you can imagine: ramen (the birriamen), nachos, and tostadas (the vampiro). They have five tacos on the menu, but the contents are mostly the same—and always involve birria. One adds cheese, the other adds cheese and guacamole, and the only major change between all of them is the type of tortilla. These aren’t tacos so good you'll write about them in your journal—they’re the kind that gets the job done on a Monday when you need a quick lunch to silence the stomach gurgles. For those occasions, our favorite taco here is the quesabirria. It’s hefty and made with a flour tortilla, melted cheese, and stewed birria meat. Just know that nothing comes with consumé—you have to add it as a side order if you want to dip your taco into that smokey broth." - Virginia Otazo

This is one of my favorite taco 🌮 places in this area. I always get 2 birria tacos and a birria quesadilla, everything is delicious. If you like spicy then the red sauce is a must try. On Thursdays an Saturdays from 5 to 8 before the summer you can aslo enjoy live music from Street Stages in that same street.

Google
While the tacos are good, el primo red tacos seems to always and I am mean always forgot to put items that you order at the kiosk, in the to go bags. I just spent 85 dollars for 14 tacos with their taco Tuesday special which includes 3 tacos a side a guac and chips and sauce( I order two of these by the way). When I get home to no surprise again I don’t have either two of the orders of guac and chips. You would expect a restaurant that’s charging you 85 dollars for tacos would have the courtesy to check the bag for the items you already bought.

Google
Pathetic excuse for a Mexican restaurant. Tried this place twice to give it the benefit of the doubt but their portions are extremely small for the cost. Not at all worth what they charge including their mandatory gratuity for doing nothing. Let's just say for almost $20 you can go somewhere else and get a real meal. Left hungry.

Google
I think this place is just amazing! I am from Mexico and being in Miami for around 20 years it is hard to really find good and authentic Mexican tacos here. But I finally did! El Primo red tacos offers good quality ingredients and prices!

Stopped by while walking around downtown Miami and thought it had interesting selections. Their main focus seems to be Birria, so as someone whole loves birria, I stopped by. I order the birria burger with fries. It was pretty good, the bun was a little soggy and not toasted but I can’t complain as it was gonna be dipped in the birria consume anyways. Once I tasted the consume it left me wanting more flavor as it lacked that of spices and slow cooked meat. The burger tasted pretty okay, nothing crazy or ground breaking but it was pretty okay. The fries I think were the star of the whole meal. They were crispy and perfectly fried! Now the only confusion I have is that the atmosphere feels a little strange cause all they play is slow songs😅. With that being said, do be reminded that they charge a small service fee for eating there. I would say that the workers were super nice. I wouldn’t go out of my way to reccomend this place but it’s also not a bad once in a while type of eatery.

Food was amazing Mary Carmen is super sweet and gave an amazing service. Joe and Ivanna was super sweet . Totally recommend this place

Google
We just discovered this place and quite frankly we are very impressed! Location is amazing, Decor is very unique ans their food was great. Staff was friendly and helpful, we try their regular tacos, the Vampiro y Quesataco, all paired with a Topo Chico, Modelo Negra & a Mangonada, if you haven’t had BIRRIA Tacos before... THIS IS IT! 😉 Prices as fair taking in consideration the location, flavor and service. We are giving 4 stars only since we can’t really enjoy a regular experience due to Covid and we didn’t like the fact that we had to order our food outside, pay for it and then proceeded to our table inside! We may consider a revision of our review once we go back to “Normal” post-Covid. Google
One of the best Birria places you can find. Service was friendly and great! I got the Quesabirria and it was delicious! Not to mention that they are big and fulfilling 😋. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to try a different kind of taco~

Yelp
The red theme inside is strong with their tables, chairs, menu, and even the refrigerator is red! The service was quick and easy via the tablet or ordering at the counter with a worker. Birriamen: the flavor of the soup was delicious however I wish noodles were not instant ramen. For the price I would not order it again.

Yelp
I've visited this place three times, and every single time I've fallen sick afterward. I'm a very healthy person and rarely get sick, so this was extremely concerning. Each visit left me with the same severe nausea, which I strongly believe is due to poor hygiene and the extremely low quality of their food. While the restaurant's atmosphere and deals may initially seem appealing (it resembles Five Guys), it's clear they don't prioritize the quality or safety of the food they serve. The meals are overly greasy, with everything drenched in spiced fat to mask the poor quality. The fries are consistently dry, and while the flavors might seem decent, they come at the cost of serious discomfort. Even the drinks are questionable -- their horchata contains a shocking 35g of sugar per cup, equivalent to a can of Coke. I've reported them to the Florida Department of Health because this place feels legitimately toxic. Unfortunately, my coworkers like this place because it's a cheaper option, but I can't risk getting sick again. I've had to call out of work each time after eating here

Yelp
First off, we were excited. Looked at the menu and tried ordering. Huge mistake. We redirected to the automated machine. Mind you, there are 2 people behind register. We tried ordering the huesito, they stated they didn't make it. I said that's false advertising. We received our order, it came out wrong. The burger was supposed to be plain, I had ordered nothing in it due to allergies. The tacos had potential and consume was beyond delicious. However the customer service killed the experience . I went back to place a special order, they were busy speaking in the back. The burger came out wrong. The didn't want to give me the consume, came with the burger order. Unfortunately, the chef and myself won't be coming back. Please instruct staff on customer service and adhering to special orders. Keep in mind lactose intolerance- machine is difficult and staff won't take order. Ambiance was whatever ... staff was rude and in back gossiping. Sad... seems like a good product,

Yelp
This taco spot is right on Flagler street diagonally across from Julia & Henry's Eatery. It is on the street that is almost finished with construction and I'm sure will get a lot more traffic. There are different specials Monday - Wednesday. I opted for the $2 taco Tuesday special. My overall opinion was kind of 'meh'. The guacamole didn't taste like there was anything in the container but avocado (no lime zest, onion, tomato) and the chips were quite stale. The tacos themselves appeared very small - more like street tacos - and I was unfortunately craving for more. There wasn't a birria sauce served alongside but a spicy, tangy sauce of which I was a bit confused. The inside is clean and there were many tables for dining in. I am sure would benefit with a salsa bar or water service counter as it was a scorcher of a day. There are many taco Tuesday specials in the neighborhoods of Miami so I may skip this one moving forward.

Yelp
I live nearby and was excited to find a potentially good taco spot. Unfortunately the food is mediocre with over the top prices. They give tiny portions and skimp on everything. The kids sized cup they give you for the horchata is filled to the top with ice and you will get about 3 sips lol. To top it off they add service charge for to-go orders... wouldn't recommend.
google avatar

Cam E.

Yelp
I came for the Taco Tuesday deal and tried their beef tacos and margarita. The beef tacos were the only ones on special for Taco Tuesday. I'm normally not a beef guy, but these tacos were pretty good. The meat was tender and flavorful. The service was good great and I got my food fast. It's a very casual place, but a good vibe. The only thing I wish is that more meat options are available for the Taco Tuesday special.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
It was actually surprisingly good! Got the quesabirria and enjoyed it. Meat tasted great, service was fast right after midnight on NYE
google avatar

Yelp
They sucked. I didn't like the price, I didn't like the tacos. It felt like they just trying to take your money.

Yelp
Great prices!! Great service. Great flavors. The menu is small but mighty. It's got a very relaxed atmosphere. Large room with tables and chairs and honestly that's how I like to eat, at ease. You order and then they call your name and boom. So grab a table first. They may fill up quickly. I ordered the quesadilla and it did not disappoint. Perfect amount of cheese and beef. It was cooked perfectly. Nice and soft. It came with a Birria sauce and it was great. I never dipped a quesadilla in a sauce before and it hit the spot. The only con is that because it's in downtown the parking can be very difficult. But there's plenty to do around so it's definitely worth it.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
One of my favorite taco Tuesday spots! The birria dipping sauce is sold separate but for only $3 you can split it between two people. I love the taco they have with bone marrow !! The location is cute. Clean and white with red writing everywhere such a classic vibe
google avatar

Pauline N.

Yelp
Who knew the best birria tacos is in Miami?? I'm from SoCal so we have superb tacos; therefore, my standards are high. But the meat was so tender and flavorful. 10/10 recommend to check this out. A local told us about this spot! Also, order the chips and guacamole! The chips were super crispy.
google avatar

Valerie W.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. And who doesn't love a $5 margarita?! Quite refreshing. Food does take a little bit to get out but it's well worth it. It's a small joint so finding seating is sometimes hard. But their birria is some of the best I've had. Get it on some tacos or nachos and you're set. Nachos big enough for two people. Can't go wrong eating here!
google avatar

Yelp
TLDR: Favorite taco Tuesday (2 for 1!!) spot in downtown/brickell! FOOD ( note, they ONLY serve birria) - tacos: not stingy at all with the meat, flavorful, and 2 for 1 on taco tuesdays... making each taco $2. You really can't beat that in Miami. - birria smash burger: $12 for a filling burger and a side of fries is pretty rare too in Miami (unless you're talking about the big fast food chains). They essentially "smash" the birria. It surprisingly held up really well! - Margarita: $5 margs... all day everyday...and they're strong for $5 as well SERVICE: not really a service spot. It's pretty much help yourself. AMBIANCE: their new location is smaller with less tables, but it's closer to all the happenings in downtown. It now feels more like a hole in the wall and less of a proper restaurant. There's only a handful of tables, but it wasn't too busy on Tuesday.
google avatar

Yelp
El Primo Red is a spot! The quesataco was delicious, my food arrived quickly, friendly staff, and the music set a great vibe. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Ariana M.

Yelp
$2 Tacos Taco Tuesday can be easily celebrated during your lunch break with El Primo Red Tacos, on Tuesdays the feature their birria taco for only $2, the real question is how many can you handle?! We also enjoyed their vegetarian taco option which brought guacamole and beans. Definitely vegetarian friendly. Their quesadilla can be served as just cheese or add meat. The burrito was served with their birria consomé which truly made the dish. Orders can be made ahead, on their tablet or at the register. They are very good at efficiently serving the hustling lunch rush. Good for the value but not life changing. I wish they made more meat variety
google avatar

Kianna S.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick lunch. When I went in it was empty, which was a good thing. I went to the kiosk to place my order and I need a couple questions answered so I asked the lady in the front, but she didn't really understand what I was saying maybe they were training her. But that's OK. I really wanted to try the mango nada but they were out of it so I'll have to probably come back for it. Lol. Me and my boyfriend wanted to try a little bit of everything since it was our first time eating there. we got the quesadilla which was on special every Wednesday and it comes with a bottle of water for $12. We got the Ramen and the burger. The burger was very good. You can dip it in the consume it came with a side of fries and ketchup mayo. The quesadillas was really good. Everything came out hot so you do have to wait a little for your food. we got the Ramen as well and it was really good. I just prefer my noodles to be cooked a little bit longer. The Birria here is very good and flavorful.
google avatar

Lily H.

Yelp
Hot sauce was actually spicy here!! I grabbed takeout including the chips + guacamole, vampiro and queso taco for $20. They came out super quick and were still warm when I got home. The price is a bit high for tacos, but the convenient location and taco Tuesday deals will bring me back. May sit inside to enjoy the cute decor next time.
google avatar

L M.

Yelp
MID!!!! Compared to what I've ate before around south Florida this is not worth the price Good interior, good horchata, overpriced small portion for the birria tacos , fries are alright, tacos had a pretty bland flavor, the burgers were okay, the consomé was alright but below bare minimum quality. The ramen looked as if store bought and just filled with their broth, also the egg was served cold somehow while the noodle to broth ratio was small, $19 with no meat and to add meat is an extra $2
google avatar

Elizabet M.

Yelp
The BEST taco place... ever!! I am hooked on this place! They have the most delicious tacos with the juiciest birria ever. The meat is so delicious once you eat one taco you won't want to stop. The quesabirrias are my absolute favorite. go try it nowww!!
google avatar

Heaven T.

Yelp
You need to get two queso birria tacos and the consome on the side with a margarita. THANK ME LATER! I had a queso birria taco, birria taco, consome, chips and guac and a margarita (this was shared with a friend). The queso birria tacos are THE TRUTH and the consome sends it right over the edge. I don't love that the consome doesn't come with it, I thought that was kind of the point of the birria situation. Regardless, the birria tacos needs the consome, otherwise it falls a little flat in the flavor department. The margarita was a pleasant surprise. Definitely sip slow or don't plan to drive immediately after because it's stronger than you think. I was here during the day on the weekend of Art Basel, so there were all kinds of structures set up in the streets and also streets were blocked off for construction. That being said, I can't speak to traffic but this place was tricky to find if you've never been here before. Service was slow, but it seemed like there were only two people working in the whole place (one cooking, another taking orders).
google avatar

Symone M.

Yelp
There's no doubt about it, I love tacos. We decided to check out this place because they advertised $5 margaritas. What better way to kick off the weekend than with a good margarita? We also ordered chips and guac, and I have to say, I'm a sucker for guac. The chips were made of flour tortillas - it was a 10/10 experience and I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Whitney R.

Yelp
Probably one of the best meals I've had on my trip to Miami this time! While it is casual dining, it's great food at a great price. The crew got the $5 margaritas which were tasty. But hey, even if they weren't great, for $5 you really can't beat it. For entrees, we got some tacos which were gobbled up quickly. I shared the quesabirria... so good but doesn't come with consome so definitely add that on. Another person had the smash Birria burger which he said he wanted another Food and drinks came out really fast. 100% recommend. I really wanted to try the Birria ramen so.. maybe on a future trip.
google avatar

Efren M.

Yelp
Decent flavors, high prices and greasy food. If you want the Birria dipping juice/sauce, be prepared to pay an additional fee. You'll leave full, smelling like fried food for days and wising your arteries don't become clogged You've been notified...
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
Suuuuuper good birria. This is a casual no frills spot located in one of Downtown's oldest buildings. They only make birria, so it seems like they've gotten it down to an art. They sure are generous with the meat, too. It's delicious and tender. My only complaint is when I ate there, they gave me consommé for one taco, yet when I ordered three for delivery, there was none. That consommé is so darn good.
google avatar

Nancy A.

Yelp
My husband is one of the biggest picky eaters I have ever met. That being said, he had these tacos on Sunday and asked for them again on Tuesday so they must be doing something right. You can order by the counter or in a tablet on the wall - the prices are reasonable and the tacos come loaded and very flavorful. The location is not too hard to find, just finding parking can be a bit tricky. I'm going to order the taco party for my bosses bday and just have it delivered.
google avatar

Farah A.

Yelp
Taco bout an incredible experience! If you love tacos, especially birria tacos make your way over here ASAP. I came across El Primo Red Taco's one night after visiting their sister restaurant El Porky. Located right by each other, each spot focuses on a different type of taco (love that). Anyways -- upon arrival I ordered the queso taco + consome, guacamole + chips, and a coca cola of course! Wow, everything was spectacular. The flavor was so rich and authentic. Their taco Tuesday deal is great and totally worth it. So happy to have this spot in Downtown Miami!!
google avatar

Alba G.

Yelp
I went here because I saw this place featured on Instagram. I was curious so I came here to check it out. I will say though 5 dollar margaritas are where it's at. Which I loved about that. It was pretty slow and it was right across this new place. I am willing to try other things on the menu. I didn't like that they didn't have forks for me to use and just spoons. And also the code to use the bathroom was pretty difficult to memorize and not easy to open it. But I managed to get in. The taste of the birria quesadilla wasn't great. I wish it had consume to go along with it. It lacked flavor. I really wanted to like it. But unfortunately this dish was sub par. Maybe I'll give this place another chance. Not sure. But a few improvements go a long way. I did like the outside. Inside was very casual.
google avatar

Raquel G.

Yelp
If you are looking for birria this place is good but I would not rush to go back. It is very casual and good for a quick dine in or pick up.
google avatar

Sgross G.

Yelp
Taco and Burro are great, but they like to steal your money if you order online. They ask if you would like to tip and whatever you leave they double it and call that a service charge. When I get there to pick up my food and tell them I want my tip back and you can keep the service charge that act like they do not understand. They would not return my money they stole. It is not the money but the principal, and when I ask for a manager they say this not one.
google avatar

Yelp
I stumbled upon the El Primo Red Tacos pop-up while wandering downtown recently. It's located inside the Mexican restaurant, Pez. It looks like El Primo Red Tacos is the only thing operating out of here right now. You order your food with the hostess, take a seat, and then within minutes, the food will be brought out to you. There was a bit of confusion with getting our food because the hostess forgot to give us a number so the food runner would know which order was ours. Make sure you take a number for your table before you sit down. We tried the quesatacos with consome, the chips and guacamole, and a margarita. Everything was delicious, good portions, and well-priced. On Tuesdays they have 2x1 on their regular tacos.
google avatar

Courtnee A.

Yelp
100% yes Skeptical because of the area it's located in (not putting it down, I stayed in the hotel a block away lol all good) because the streets surrounding are blocked off and construction is going on This food slaps. That's all I gotta say about it. The Birria was so flavorful and also the food came out so quickly. I love places like this that specialize in one kind of food and that's all they have (different variations ofc) I got the quesa Birria tacos and ari got the tacos cuz he hates cheese They also have topo chico. This is a great spot for those late night after the club hangs. Didn't check the restrooms and there is absolutely no parking at all Enjoy
google avatar

Paulet D.

Yelp
I had no idea this gem was hidden in the streets of downtown. I must have driven by it a thousand times. We decided to try the famous birria tacos from here because honestly, every other place has been a disappointment. Let me start by saying this was everything and then some! When you walk in, they'll take your order, you pay and then given a number to place on whatever table you pick. Everything comes rather quickly so if you're starving, you won't be in about 10 minutes. We ordered 2 maracuya margaritas which were amazing. The food came right after and we devoured it! Everything was delicious.
google avatar

Priscilla L.

Yelp
I've come here quite a number of times already, but I really miss the old location.. the aesthetics were a lot more pleasing. I'm not sure if they switched owners but the look is completely different. When I walk into the new place, it feels as if im at a burger joint compared to the wooden feel and low lighting at the old place. This new location has super bright lighting with checkered walls.. the drinks are also not as good. They serve their mangonada in a PAPER cup without the mango chunks. they need to bring that back and switch to plastic. the food is still tasty. on tuesdays, you can get 2x1 birria tacos; highly recommend adding cheese, it's the cherry on top.

Mary W.

Yelp
Good stuff! Had a few tacos, margarita, and guacamole. I was the only patron at the time and dined in. Will come again.
google avatar

Allison M.

Yelp
We stopped in to grab a quick lunch between when our flight landed and we board for our cruise. As first timers, Jose gave us his recommendations and they were AWESOME! We ordered: - chips and guacamole - quesabirria - quesataco - margaritas Delicious! Thanks Jose!
google avatar

AJ B.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 1 star because of the dishonest Service Charge that is automatically added to your bill, even for takeout orders. How is this even legal? It's a fast food restaurant?
google avatar

Liz F.

Yelp
Amazing food, birria tacos with consume was delish. The girl who took order was very nice and had great recommendations.
google avatar

Liz L.

Yelp
Totally worth the hype, the tacos are to die for. The dipping sauce that comes with them is AMAZING. I love ramen and their ramen was definitely one of my favorites. They have taco Tuesday specials every Tuesday as well, including discounted margaritas and beers. The margarita was just ok, but for $7 can't complain ‍‍ Also the bone marrow GET IT!!!
google avatar

Stan L.

Yelp
One of my favorite places when I'm craving birria tacos. Delicious tacos and I highly recommend to try birria ramen. Everything that we ordered was delicious. Going to comeback again.
google avatar

Barbara M.

Yelp
Surpirsed by how fast the service was! This place is all about Birria, tacos de birria, birria ramen, birria everything! Had tacos birria "el dorado" and "queso birria" plus the birtia nachos to share. Everything was really good and the price was $50 for 2 people, so pretty decent in Miami. This place is not a fancy place but def has authentic and delicious food - super recommend!
google avatar

Tyler G.

Yelp
This place used to slap but the new location is hard to find and they throw a bunch of new stuff on their plain birria tacos which is unecessary... this last trip was a huge disappointment they clearly switched something up
google avatar

Pranati M.

Yelp
Fast food type restaurant. Food came quick. Birria quesadillas were excellent -- warm and flavorful.
google avatar

Dayana P.

Yelp
I've been craving tacos and this place is really close to where I live. The menu is a tad hard to understand for a first timer but the lady explained it. Their tacos/products only have meat. Then you choose if you'd like it in a taco, tostada, and/or quesadilla. I ordered two tacos and a quesataco. Wasn't impressed. They were alright. I've had better tacos. Probably won't be back because of the price too.
google avatar

Sofia B.

Yelp
I got quesabirria and tacos with additional sauce (consommé), the food is very good! They used to have a popup location but now they have their own location in downtown. For being a low key restaurant I'm a bit disappointed they are not dog friendly, and for not having horchata. For $4 tacos the price is decent for downtown Miami, definitely coming back for more!
google avatar

Peter N.

Yelp
Being Tuesday 2x1, I tried out El Primo Red Taco. I ordered the Birria Taco. I can not agree with the reviews. They were just ok, dry and tortilla barely dipped before cooking. Also was charge extra $3 for the dipping cup of cosume. So $14 for 4 small tacos. Can't say I will return since there are better places on the other side of the river.
google avatar

Pablo C.

Yelp
Very weak flavored tacos at least for the taco tuesday special. Better off going to Tacos el Porky at a 5 minute walk.

Walle Got G.

Yelp
The food was great and it was serviced quick! the staff was very loving and the environment is exceptional! 10/10. 100% recommend to stop by!
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
The food and the margaritas are pretty good but it is beyond odd that they charge everyone a 15% service charge no matter if you dine in or take out. Just adjust your prices and get rid of the service charge.

Frank P.

Yelp
Taco Tuesdays are the best ! Great tacos. I go there weekly and the staff is friendly. Even if you don't go to taco Tuesday try el vampiro taco or the Beria smash burger. One time I ordered 250 tacos for a work an event last minute but they were able to accommodate and the people were happy. I live walking distance and I can take my food to go but I like eating there. It's always clean and it's a vibe.
