The 36 Best Restaurants in Mexico City, From the Splurge-Worthy to Streetside Tamale Stands | Condé Nast Traveler

"Though technically a bar, Sella is more of an old-world cantina that, like most classic ones in Mexico, feels Spanish . Jamon serrano, braised octopus with pimenton, and chorizo a la Sidra are all well done here, but the dish that everyone orders is the chamorro—an entire pork shank simmered in its own fat until it falls off the bone, served with warm tortillas, cilantro, onion, and salsa." - Naomi Tomky, Scarlett Lindeman

Bustling, vibrant joint that seems to be mainly locals. I was there on a Friday and it was a bunch of friends and family embracing each other as they came in to enjoy the food and drinks. Service is also super friendly and attentive. I saw the chamarro on New York Times and it did not disappoint. It was rich, flavourful, and fell off the bone.

As all reviews says, Chamorro was super yummy. Other tapas like Tortilla espagnol, chorizo, pulpo, and cheese were all wonderful too.

This is a real authentic old fashion cantina! But don’t get me wrong, the food is one of the best I ever tried in my life. The attention from the staff is very good. The taste of the food is just like the old good times. I tried to taste everything I could, was not an easy task but my favorite was lengua a la mexicana and the chorizo a la sidra. This place is a must!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This was by far the best meal I had so far in Mexico City. The pork was absolutely sensational. The mezcal amazijf. The service, the atmosphere and most of all the pride and hospitality of the family owners. Do not miss this if you want to taste great local food in a buzzing local place. I will be back again and again and again.

Great traditional Spanish/Mexican cantina. The food is just amazing. My personal favorite is pulpos a la gallega (octopus), but the chorizo (spanish sausage) a la sidra and the chamorro (beef) are worth trying. The service, although very casual and impersonal, is great. One of the owners is always there talking to clients and checking in to make sure everything is running smoothly. Beware, this place is packed after 3:00 pm, no kids are allowed and is closed on Sundays. Can’t recommend it enough!

Excellent Place to have a vast, succulent Dinner. Making New Friends it's a must place to go to.

Clean, great service, great food. The waiter was very attentive from the moment we walked in. The chamorro was delicious. We made several tacos out of it. It's a dish for 2 people.

Yelp
Get their Chamorro tradicional. Everything else is good but that is their main dish. It's juicy, falls off the bone and just very flavorful. It comes w corn tortillas and some other sides. We also got the Lengua (reminds me of an old family dish - very savory as well) and the Spanish torta (pretty plain omelet type of dish but nonetheless cooked well). Also the accept credit cards.

Yelp
Evidently I was supposed to find some bad things to write last year about my totally positive experience at one of Mexico City's 30 Best Restaurants, El Sella (that is rated by https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/best-restaurants-in-mexico-city) Yelp listed the review, but to get to it you have to click on a link near the bottom of the pages saying "1 Other Review That Is Currently NOT Recommended", meaning they don't like my review or it is dishonest. Well folks, I just got back from Mexico again, and again I ate at El Sella, and again I had the chamorro, and again my review STANDS AS POSTED last year. Great food at great prices with excellent service. What? Am I supposed to lie to appease some moderator at Yelp that decided he or she doesn't like my review? I posted a thorough review because I was stuck in Mexico City for several days and got bored at the hotel the night after I ate there the first time. And I wrote the review from my memory earlier that day. But to "not recommend it" is calling my integrity into question. Yelp should be ashamed to assume that they know who I am or what I think about a restaurant's food. And I still wouldn't eat at any Korean BBQ in Mexico City. They are not authentic, mediocre food, horrible service. So there, live with reality Yelp.

Yelp
Very authentic filled with only locals. Rustic and minimal decor with a lot of age on the place and the owner sitting in the corner greeting regulars and whilst cooking the books.....my kind of place. Almost every table orders their famous Chamorros. I pig leg the size of your head, offered bone in or bone out. We went bone in thinking that asking for it bone less would be wimping out. The meat is apparently seared and then stewed. The outside has some texture but the inside is buttery, fatty, porky goodness. Served with tortillas and various topping to make your own tacos. Fantastic! Service was friendly, fast, and surprisingly upscale considering the decor. We easily walked in on a Monday around 1 with no reservation, but I heard this place can get slammed, might want to call ahead.
