Elation Brewing - Review - Larchmont - Norfolk - The Infatuation

"Elation’s beers are for people who are capital S Serious about beer (with love, they’re not for everyone) but it’s the wood oven in the corner serving Chelsea Bakehouse’s Neapolitan-style pies that lands it on this guide. Maybe it’s the hazy IPA, or the giant Adirondack chairs on the lawn, but the pizza here tastes better than the ones coming out of the oven at the actual bakery. The red and white pies are equally exciting, so order at least one of both. There are Chelsea Bakehouse pastries in the adjoining coffee shop, and Elation also has their own menu of snacks and sandwiches if pizza is, somehow, not your thing. We’re not mad at the pretzels and beer cheese one bit." - Alicia Camden

The atmosphere of this brewery is wonderful — warm and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff was very polite and attentive. The location is excellent, making it a perfect spot to enjoy both great flavors and a great setting. I usually never drink beer — maybe once a year — but even I tried a couple of sips here, and it was surprisingly delicious!

Google
My colleagues and I frequent Elations for lunch and it's one of our to-go places for evening get togethers. Staff is always friendly and I have enjoyed all of the variety of pizzas so far.

Google
We were tourists visiting from Canada and out for a bike ride and came upon this fabulous spot for lunch. It’s a great place for families and friends to get together. Dog friendly as well. Children were playing and having fun while live band played in the background. The pizzas are amazing and the beer selection is great. The staff were fabulous as well.

Google
Pizza is good but you can get the exact same pizza with better service at the bake house on Chelsea. They really miss the mark with the service here. Voyager coffee shop on the other hand is great.

Sabrina G.

Google
Great beer, the whole place smells amazing with the combination of the pizza and the smoked meats. We walked in tonight to a great rock band. The place was crowded (Friday night) but the staff was extremely accommodating in helping us find a seat. Parking unfortunately is not great. Currently they allow parking across the street at 5215 Colley Ave

Google
The best experience ever! Our bartender, J, was the best. Got a chance to meet the owner, Kenny, and he was an absolute gem. Salt of the earth kinda guy. Mike the taproom GM made sure we were taken care of.

Google
We recently visited this brewery-slash-pizza joint, and it has quickly become our favorite spot after a long day at work. I highly recommend it! The spacious interior, complete with an outdoor patio, provides ample room to unwind. The atmosphere is lively, drawing in a fantastic crowd. Overall, it was a fantastic experience

Google
Went with a group of friends. Fantastic environment, incredibly friendly staff, with my social anxiety they made it easy to feel relaxed, food was delightful had a couple pizzas, nachos, their picante cheese spread is a treat. Their Boysenberry had a gentle flavor and their Rose Gose was delightfully tart, but their ciders were amazing! Particularly the pineapple flavor of their aloha was a fun experience on the taste buds! Go in expecting to spend a little bit but absolutely worth it. All in all great place, you'll have a good time

Yelp
I spent the afternoon working from Elation. It was rather quiet once the lunch crowd came and went, so I had no problem sitting at my table with my laptop and enjoying the peace. Great beers here and I enjoyed the Italian Pilsner which was served in a surprisingly unstable glass. Tall and thin, it would not take much at all to knock this over. Maybe this is the right glassware for a pilsner? I took extra care with it so it didn't topple. The pizzas looked and smelled great but I had other plans for dinner this evening. Yelp
Such an awesome place for brews and pizzas! Their salads are also unexpectedly so yummy. Service was great despite very low manning! The place is decoratedly nicely and it was huge, there was even a coffee shop attached to it.

Yelp
A dog friendly spot for family and friends to come for some great pizza and beer. My group tried a few different types with myself enjoying the Hyland Park Hazy New England IPA. Very refreshing and paired well with the three personal pizzas we ordered. As a side we got the Caesar salad, but it was very underdressed with too many croutons that we were feeding them to the dog (lol). We enjoyed the live music from a violin trio as we ate and drank. As it was during the period between Christmas and New Years it was rather empty, but this was actually a good thing, as we didn't have to yell to hear each other. I would recommend Elation as a great place for groups and families with kids.

Yelp
Pizza, meads, beer, dogs... I mean what else should I include. The staff is very friendly and willing to help you chose the best drink for you. The place is a bit loud (I mean it is a brewery after all lol). No loud music, just people having fun and a drink with friends.

Yelp
Stopped in here while in town for family weekend at ODU. Caught a night of Oktoberfest. Oompah band and German beer and food offerings. Great atmosphere and good beer selection.

Yelp
We came at Elation's quiet time - Sunday evening - but it gave us a chance to truly see the space and chat with the staff, which was great. Such an awesome (huge!) venue, which can host anything from workplace functions to weddings and everything in between. Staff is very friendly and the pizzas were delicious. Cheese was my favorite!

Yelp
Perfect neighborhood brew house. Went for my brother's birthday and from the moment we walked in we felt welcomed in the beautiful space. Pizza was outstanding, truly on the podium for best pizza in the city

Yelp
Great place to chill on a weekday. They have trivia night, as well as karaoke available for anyone who wants to sing their heart out. Their pizza is from Bakehouse at Chelsea, which I reviewed this bakery like five times by now because I LOVE their pastries. The pizza is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. No one can beat the sourdough crust. The food was amazing, and the vibes indoors are great. There is plenty of space for parties greater than ten. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is because I personally don't think their beer is the best. I recommend just doing take-out from here and drink your favorite beer at home. The have some parking spaces available at their own parking lot, but some people will have to find street parking if they are trying to chill here at busy hours.

Yelp
Great vibes but live music was a little overpoweringly loud. Try the blueberry cider!

Yelp
We stopped here after I'd been attending an interview and I was pretty exhausted at the time. The atmosphere was bustling and decently busy being a Friday evening. I liked the atmosphere and normally would love the energy, but since I was tired we stayed for one beer. We tried two different gose style brews and enjoyed both. They also serve food that looked and smelled really good, but didn't partake this time since we weren't hungry. Staff were very friendly. Overall, it was a cool spot and one I'm sure I'd frequent when feeling less tired!

J M.

Yelp
Beers and ciders were very good. Drink selection is solid. Service at the bar was very fast and cordial Food wasn't bad, just not great. Servers and service outside was very solid. Pizzas were average. Not sure if they were just a tad overcooked or the ingredient mix just not complimentary but something wasn't whole. Still, Id go back and try again!

Yelp
What a stunning brewery, and the beers were amazing! The outdoor patio was great for our little one, and they also had some good N/A options for this pregnant mama! Super friendly staff, and dog friendly as well.

Yelp
Beer, pizza, and a hang out spot...what more do you need?! Well I went during the week around 2pm so it wasn't packed and service was fast. There's plenty of room to hang out with food and drinks. My husband got a lager beer and he says it was good and smooth. Not a beer drinker so I'll take his word. We both got pizza that is cooked in a wood fire oven. Here's the breakdown: Arugula pizza with salami - very cheesy and the salami was quality meat. Pepperoni pizza - very cheesy and saucy. The Pepperoni used on this pizza was the small size kind so it had crispy edges. Very tasty! I thought the pizza was going to be small based on what the lady behind the counter was explaining but I think 2 people can eat off of 1. Definitely great

Yelp
Very great place. We come here for work gatherings often. You can't beat good pizza and great beer. Very spacious and relaxing.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to meet up with people, enjoy drinks and a light bar menu. The nachos are lovely. I will note they were decently understaffed when I went so i waited approx 20-25 minutes to get a drink

Yelp
Amazing pizza and cold delicious beer could you ask for anything more? How about a beautiful outdoor area and large indoor tap room perfect for small groups or large groups! My husband and I found ourselves next door at the awesome coffee shop and being new to the area didn't realize that they were attached and decided to ditch our original lunch plans and grab lunch here as well as do a beer flight. I don't drink beer but the bartender was helpful in suggesting to my husband what beers he may like based on his preferences. He truly liked all the beers and is excited to go back and try some more. We saw that the pizza is made there from the Bakehouse at Chelsea and it is so good! All fresh ingredients, came out nice and hot. Seriously good crust, with just enough chew. Even though it is made in a wood fired oven, it was perfectly baked and did not have that charred taste. One of the best pizzas I have had, and I have had my fair share of pizza! Will return to enjoy the outside and the inside areas as well as beer (for the hubs) and the amazing pizza!

Yelp
Came here for some beer and cards recently with friends and enjoyed myself! The space was very large and had plenty of seating, which is always appreciated. A lot of the tables were reserved, but thankfully the reservations started later in the evening, so we just grabbed a table and started playing some cards. The beer wasn't bad! Not the best I've ever had but definitely decent. I didn't try the food but the pizza looked pretty tasty. Whenever I'm back in the area, I definitely plan on coming back here!

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here for about 5 years. We've watched it become even more popular and for good reason. The location is great with plenty of parking on site and in a nearby parking lot. The pizza collaboration with Bakehouse is great (although I miss them having two pizza sizes). The staff is generally friendly to adults and dogs. We stopped going as frequently because they're not really kid friendly. Like actually mean to kids and rude to their parents. They started posting "keep your kids under control signs" and they've become more pointed over the past couple years. If your kid wonders off from your table (say to get a drink of water) the staff has no problem making sure you understand the signs and telling your kid to go back to the table. There used to be families here all the time. Not as much anymore. If you have kids, probably best to find someplace else to get a drink. They are pet friendly. No signs for them. Dogs can do pretty much anything they please.

Yelp
Listen, good beer and food? You can't go wrong. LOCATION: Massive location with ample seating inside and outside. I don't know if they have parking but we just parked on the street for free. FOOD: I had their Oktoberfest brew, which was delicious!! We also ordered their pizza with arugula and I can't complain, it was pretty delicious. SERVICE: You go up to order at the register and the folks working there are pretty helpful and friendly. The food and drinks didn't take long to come out. Will I come back? yeah! I'd like to come back for their trivia

Yelp
Greatly disappointed in the pizza. Stopped in on a midday Saturday, looking for a good pizza and some beer. Beer was tasty, but the pizza was tastless. Poorly prepared, unattractive and burnt but some how under cooked (picture attached). We sat at the bar that had only three other patrons and never once were we asked how the pizza was or how we were doing. We checked out and went elsewhere to prevent the day from being a total bust.

Yelp
Impeccable service, friendly atmosphere Had strawberry cider, no complaints here Place is great all around!!

Yelp
Ok so quick first review with more to come next time! Had to post this though! I stopped in to visit Voyager coffee which turns out is not quite open right next door yet. Mike at the bar didn't even blink when I said well I'm here already what do you have non alcoholic. I know I know weird but I although I do love all kinds of beer especially local craft beer, I choose not to partake at the moment. Ended up having an awesome local NA craft IPA, a take home Voyager cold brew and a smile on my face after talking and finding another lover of craft beer who also doesn't drink but still enjoys the scene! I'll definitely be back to chill and try some of the delicious smelling pizza!

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and can't believe I've never reviewed. Fantastic atmosphere. Great construction to repurpose a space. Many different styles of beer for all palates. My favorite is the Notice This with a perfect balance of malt and hops. BrickHouse Pizzas on premises and a snack menu as well. Large outdoor seating area with tents to shield the sun and a fire pit for the cooler nights. I'm from NY and only get here 6-7 times/year but I joined to mug club to support them. They're a top of the line addition to the local craft beer scene.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, Amazing service, Pizza was outstanding (would want more toppings on it next time), Beer was ok. The FOX & THE BEAR were playing music and they didn't stop. They killed it, every song. Even the songs I didn't know. They even silenced a heckler at one point. Tell them I want to hear "California Love" (Tupac) next time. 100% I would come back.

Yelp
Nice time at Elation today - I enjoyed my Black Cherry Cider and my husband enjoyed his beer. The bartender was very helpful and patient with explaining the many options available. I also loved the surprise craft fair that was set up inside and out. Drinking and browsing, what more do you need?! Plenty of seating inside and out. Pizza is also available on site. Check them out!

Yelp
Elation is just awesome full circle. Been here a hand full of times and love it! Celebrated my son's 30th Birthday & everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We LOVED the ambiance!! The brewery is spacious and there was more than enough space for our party. It's dog friendly. No smoking on premises. Worked with David Pincus, event coordinator. Planning and execution was flawless. All I had to do was show up. An extra treat was that the Bakehouse At Elation was up and running so we were able to order piping hot pizza! They were churning the pizzas out!! I don't recall having to wait a long time for pizza. Fungi Bianci is our favorite pizza hands down! Any pizza with ricotta is ahead of the game in my book. I ordered several orders of nachos since they're shareable. I didn't get to try them, but people seemed to enjoy nibbling as they enjoyed great beer. Ready to go back and try a trivia night or listen to a band. Also, thinking of celebrating my birthday here too!!! :) Kudos to Elation! Thank you for helping make my son's birthday memorable!!

Yelp
They have parking! It used to just be street parking! Plenty of space indoor and outdoor. Annnnddd did you know Chelsea Bakehouse is now available inside this brewery???? Bakehouse at Elations!!! Wood fire pizza! They also have guest brewery available like Blue Toad cidery, Benchrop and Big Ugly! But their own brewed beers was really good! On a hot day a German pils is my go to beer! They have bathrooms availability as well and hand held snacks available as well!

Chandlor P.

Yelp
Pizza was great. Beer was great. But, the bald cook with a beard ruined its all. He came out several times and said "f***" these people among other things. ( talking about a few different groups of people that had come in ). These people did nothing wrong, he was pissed because the kitchen ( not the pizza chefs ) couldn't keep up. They shut the kitchen down, and left only pizza available which I'm glad they did. The food coming from the kitchen looked thrown on a plate. If bald chef can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Won't be back
google avatar

Sam A.

Yelp
Another great local brewery. They have a wide variety of styles, my favorites were a really flavorful Molly's maibock, a well-balanced New England IPA, and an easy-drinking Larchmont Lager. As a huge added bonus, they also serve Chelsea Bakehouse's pizza, which is the best in the 757. The space itself is spacious, reminiscent of a festhaus, they also have ample outdoor seating, including a huge fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs. The service at the bar was friendly and knowledgeable, and they were happy to give tastes before ordering. They also had a good non-beer selection of Virginia wines, a seltzer, and a cider if you have people in your family who don't like beer. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting and sure as heck not my last. The parking lot could definitely be bigger-but it looked like they put tents and seating outside for these "trying" COVID times, so I can't ascertain if that's a permanent issue. Inside, it looks like it was a garage converted into a brewery and it is just utterly gorgeous-there is wood work in the rafters that is beautiful and it just screams to having great acoustics. I plan on coming back when a live band is playing to confirm this. I did not have any beer-which is OK! They have wine ON TAP and plenty of options for the girlfriends of the world not drinking beer. Their house red collab with a winery was phenomenal. My fiancé had an IPA and thoroughly enjoyed it-and she spread out all over a sofa they had. Overall-a highly recommended haunt for whether you drink beer or not. A nice neutral zone to enjoy company!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
I passed this brewery the last time I was in town, and knew I'd be stopping on my next trip. I went on a Sunday evening, so the taproom wasn't too crowded. I sat at the bar anyways, and had some great conversations and recommendations from Emelia (sp?, sorry!) and Mac. Both were knowledgeable in their beers, and nice to chat with. The pizza was good, and they had a good variety of other food and beer styles. I sampled most of their beers, and was impressed with the offerings - even sampling a gose that I didn't hate! The Struncs stout was another amazing brew. All in all, a great brewery that is family friendly, and I will be bringing my family here the next time we're in town.

Yelp
Wow!! This place is truly awesome! Upon entering, I was greeted by the most amazing dog (they are very dog friendly)!! The service is top notch as well as the amazing Bacon Gouda pizza I received! Added pepperoni to mine for an extra dose of goodness!! As an IPA guy, I absolutely loved the Highland Park Hazy!! Can't wait to return with friends!!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, what a nice place to have on Colley. Only wish this place was around when I was back in college at ODU. Such great place to enjoy some live music and chug some beers. They have a huge outdoor patio with plenty of seating. Dog friendly and great service. We only popped in for one drink prior to our dinner reservation across the street. If only we had more time to kill because I could've stayed for hours. It seemed like their menu had a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, nachos, and salads. Typical bar food but seemed tasty.
google avatar

Philip F.

Yelp
I ate here for lunch. I got the pimento cheese and ham sandwich and it hit the spot. The service was great even though we party fouled and didn't let them know ahead of time we were coming with a big group. Elation is a nice clean space and would be nice at night with the fire pits going.
google avatar

Les J.

Yelp
They have sandwiches, a magical pizza oven and tasty bres. Very comfortable, laid back environment. The staff know their stuff. A pleasant diversion from the business of life

Laura B.

Yelp
One of my favorite breweries. Great beer and hard ciders, fantastic wood fired pizza, lots of room, some comfortable leather chairs (where did the big leather sofas go??) and dog-friendly. Only thing I would change is the nachos. Plenty of everything but I found the cheese sauce to be too "thin" (although plenty of it!) so the chips were soggy quite fast. I'll still be back over and over!
google avatar

Albert S.

Yelp
Really nice location with a massive serving room. Plenty of seating at the bar and tables. The beer was good to very good. I enjoyed their Scottish Ale, Highland Park Hazy (Hazy IPA), Riverpoint Red (Imperial IPA), and Notice This (IPA). I'm struggling to figure out the last beer I had because I can't find a current tap list on their website or facebook page. We ordered a pizza, two types of mushrooms and garlic, which was very good. The service was great and the bartender was very pleasant and attentive. Overall a good experience.
google avatar

Pravash M.

Yelp
Impressed! Large indoor space with lots of beverage offerings...AND they have food onsite! Liked the variety of indoor seating spots (high tops, low tops, benches, round tables, sofas and comfy chairs, etc) plus outdoor seating under tents too. Though it trails Bakehouse, pizza was pretty good (3.75/5 stars). Pimento grilled cheese and bacon was devoured by our son (4/5 stars). Soft pretzels were delicious (5/5 stars). Typical Colley Ave street parking, so plan accordingly or Uber.
google avatar

Haley C.

Yelp
If you want to find a delicious black bean burger with the perfect amount of spice here it is! And the sauce they put on the burger is PHENOMENAL. Elation Brewing offers a great menu, SPEEDY service and a lovely atmosphere to go with it! It's also connected to Voyager Cold Brew! We grabbed coffee and a croissant in the early morning hours at Voyager and then hopped over to Elation for their lunch menu!! It's the perfect place to have something to munch on during a long work day!
google avatar

Adrian A.

Yelp
The beer was ok but the wait staff was rude and unfriendly. The lady behind the bar wasn't helpful in choosing a beer (it was my boyfriend's first visit) and seemed impatient as we decided. She had conversations with her coworkers and barely Acknowledged us, as we were keeping her from The conversation she was having. Later when I went to pay, she simply flung the iPad around and walked away. Here's a tip- say hi. Maybe have a nice day. Bottom line - pretend the customer exists for a few seconds. We decided to leave without ordering second beers or food and I'm typing this at a different brewery (bold mariner. Highly suggest and there's bbq!! ).
google avatar

Patricia M.

Yelp
the pizza is worth every penny plus the beer is exceptional for such a new brewer. its my last meal and first mean before and after a deploymen. definitely 10/10 would recommen.
google avatar

Rex R.

Yelp
Great pet-friendly brewery with a nice vibe. Awesome atmosphere and the perfect place to hang out with friends. We ordered some drinks and a bacon gouda pizza. Everything turned out well and we really enjoyed our stay at Elation.

Hannah M.

Yelp
I loved the ambience and atmosphere of this place! The beer was tasty and well priced. I wanted to get pizza but it was a little too pricy for me. Overall, I'd recommend!
google avatar

Junior L.

Yelp
Best pizza in the area. Period. Oh...and the beer is really good, too! First off, there is plenty of parking. And there is plenty of room inside and outside. I've never had an issue finding a parking spot, or a seat. They have good selection of beer here that I consider "normal" (which is a good thing). And what I mean by that is, not all them crazy sours or fruit beer (although I think they do have those) that take over the menu. Oh, did I mention pizza? It's really amazing here. I lived in Italy for several years, and I can say with complete honesty, this pizza is like the pizza I've eaten in Sardinia. Even my boy said it's amazing. The staff are great, and the service is outstanding. I really have nothing but great things to say about this place. Order a beer, and wait for that pizza to come to your table. Well done!
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
Elation is solid. Gorgeous build-out with a wide-open, industrial feel...great for groups with plentiful indoor and outdoor seating. Excellent variety of beer choices and NA options. Wouldn't say there is a stand-out, must-have brew, but everything I've tried has been tasty (been more impressed with their darker beer options). The highlight here is actually the pizza -- try The Hive with pepperoni, basil, and hot honey...Ric Flair woo-inducing. Bar service is friendly but thinly staffed (you have to queue to order/close-out at the register). Elation is a perfect happy hour/after-work spot, but definitely NOT a place to watch a football game as it's not a sports bar, and there are no TVs to be found. That being said, it's easy to stream a game on a phone and attract an audience at the bar. Trivia here on Thursdays could improve -- it drags on for over 2.5 hrs with poor audio quality and a low payout. All in all, it's a nice neighborhood brewery in the Larchmont area.

Yelp
This place was our first stop upon entering VA Beach and did not disappoint. First, the patio and indoor space is not only comfortable but DOG FRIENDLY. (Yes, that's correct, both outside and inside! Huge plus for our family!) Next beers were great but the pizza was really fantastic! We got the Arugula / Salami and Hive, and honestly wish this place was in the DC area so I could visit more often! Will be coming back the next time we visit!

Yelp
I have been here 3 times so far and have enjoyed each visit! The first time was for the "soft opening" and it was packed. I was hesitant but quickly impressed with how they handled the mass amount of customers with ease and speed. The most recent visit was on a Friday evening. The garage doors were open allowing a nice Spring breeze to circulate through the venue. I love the seating options because there is something for everyone. High top tables, low tables, long tables, counter and bar seating, couches and chairs for a more comfortable and intimate gathering as well as an outdoor space. They obviously took great care and thought while building out this space as it shows in the details everywhere. It is a very attractive space. It is quickly becoming a favorite! The beer selection is great and I look forward to the release of their own brews. Dogs welcomed
