Elcielo is a vibrant and sophisticated Michelin-star concept created by Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos where Colombian ancestral cuisine, Latin-American ingredients, and modern avant-garde techniques are playfully blended into a collection of imaginative culinary experiences. This will be Chef Juanma's third location in the United States after Washington D.C and Brickell, both of which hold one Michelin star each, however at Elcielo at SLS South Beach, the dining experience transcends into fête extraordinaire as guests are welcome to enjoy a wide array of à la carte items or choose to partake in a decadent tasting menu. This interactive experience is meant to be served family style, encouraging guests to share and experience all the colors, culture, and flavors of Colombia.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Cielo, and I must say, it is truly a spectacular restaurant. From the moment we stepped in, we were amazed by the ambiance and the warm welcome from the staff. The cocktails were of exceptional quality, crafted with precision and bursting with flavor. As we perused the menu, our skepticism quickly faded away. Each dish that arrived at our table was a work of art, both in terms of its presentation and the quality of ingredients used. It was evident that the chef's attention to detail was impeccable. Every bite was a delightful surprise, as flavors harmonized in ways we had never imagined. But it wasn't just the food that impressed us; the wait staff, especially Marty, our server, went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of amazing. Marty's knowledge of the menu and his passion for the culinary creations added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. I highly recommend visiting El Cielo with an open mind and a hearty appetite. Next up, the caviarmañolas, a must-try dish that perfectly combined the richness of caviar with the comforting warmth of Colombian flavours. The lulo yellowtail ceviche was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening for me, with its fresh and tangy flavours dancing on the palate. And who could forget the smoked wagyu nigiri, a true indulgence that left us craving for more. After we moved to the signature dishes, each one was a revelation in itself. The onion soup, served hot and cold, was a testament to Chef Juanma Barrientos' innovative approach to culinary artistry. The tree of life, crafted from yuca and queso fresco made into bread, was a visual and gastronomic marvel that left us in awe. Moving on to the main courses, the halibut fish, wagyu striploin, and BBQ ribs were cooked to perfection, each bite bursting with flavor and tenderness. And for dessert, the merengon and oblea provided the perfect sweet ending to an exquisite meal. Throughout the evening, the impeccable service and attention to detail further enhanced our dining experience. ElCielo was a great experience overall. Food is incredibly good (certainly one of the best I’ve ever had in Miami. The taste menu is the recommendation here. Wagyu nigiri is perfect. Service is the downside. Poor. We ordered different drinks and beverages that never came out. Also, severs were very confused with the amount of people. Atmosphere was great! But again, the food makes it worth.

The food is quite tasty. The "bread of life" dish is particularly special. It's a new restaurant, so there was a bit of uncertainty on the part of some of the wait staff, but it was still a good experience.

Even though we miss Jose Andres beloved spot at SLS, the Elcielo didn’t disappoint! As we have some dietary restrictions: my wife is GF, and I have deadly coconut allergy: We like a la cart option! Nice addition to SoBe! Good luck!

I'm not sure why I am the first to review.. I hope I'm on the right yelp page. A few weeks ago my fiance and I had dinner here at their new SLS location. It was Amazing! Amazing service, Amazing cuisine, Amazing ambience, & Amazing creativity! The halibut was great and the lamb chops were yummy but only 2 pieces.. Make sure to save room for their amazing desserts!

I was very disappointed when the previous restaurant left, however Elcielo picked up right where they left off. The food, ambiance, and the service was absolutely exceptional. I started with the truffle balls, then the tuna tartare, and finished with the quail. If you are a true "foodie" you will understand this restaurant. If you are not, you will not. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly and I look forward to experiencing it next time.
