The Best Cinema Food and Where to Eat in London Cinemas - Eater London

"Stepping into the Electric cinema is a joyful & surreal experience. Once settled into one of the large leather seats, all wrapped up in a cashmere blanket either tuck into the wares of the old fashioned sweet shop in the foyer or order something more substantial to your seat. The pulled pork sandwich with crunchy saurkraut in a large sweet, soft charcoal brioche is comfort food of the highest order, while nachos come slathered with a smoky chipotle salsa and topped with sharp pickled jalapeños. Those craving something sweet shouldn’t pass on one of the made to order ice-cream sandwiches, two freshly baked chocolate chip cookies with a generous scoop of vanilla in between." - Leila Latif

Amazing cinema, such great seats, atmosphere and architecture. They hace both new arrivals and older famous movie on their schedules. I recommend going there at less once. It is my favorite cinema of all times! The staff is also so kind. I do recommend buying your tickets a day early cause they might be sold out.

I didn’t get a chance to watch a movie here, but just stepping inside was enough to leave a great impression. The cinema looks beautiful - vintage charm with a luxurious feel. The leather armchairs, footstools, and cosy vibe make it feel more like a living room than a theatre. It’s definitely not your average cinema - really stylish and unique. Would love to come back for a proper movie night. Even just walking by or popping in is worth it if you’re in the area! It’s definitely expensive, and the dim lights make the environment so cosy, it’s very nice.

We had such a good time! Burgers were good and the experience: amazing 🤩 we were laying on the first row, and the screen didn’t seem too close. We’ll be back! <3 Only negative for our neighbors: they left with pop corn everywhere, a real mess. People please take away your clutter and respect the others!

If you’re ever in Portobello and craving a cinema experience that’s anything but ordinary, the Electric Cinema is the place to be. The architecture is absolutely stunning — it’s like stepping into a movie set. The vibe? Super chill and cozy, with a real cool, welcoming energy that makes you want to hang out for hours. . Plus, it’s warm (in both the literal and figurative sense) — perfect for those days when you just want to sink into a comfy chair and get lost in a film. Highly recommend.

Google
Great place for a comfortable and relaxed movie experience. They have got three different options to choose from - a full bed in the first row, single couches in middle row or a double seater couch in the last row. We selected the bed in the front row, and it was quite comfortable and cosy. They dont provide a blanket, so I would suggest carrying one if you want to be warm. There is a bar for drinks and some snacks. You can get food from outside as well. Need to book well in advance.

I heard one girl saying: “the best cinematic experience that I ever had!” And she was totally right. If you’re visiting London, you should go. If you’re a local you should always go. It’s cosy, comfortable and beautiful. They have great snacks too.

Google
Great Cinema, the lay down seats are good. Although the hot drinks were not available due to a faulty coffee machine (even tea and hot chocolate 🤔)

Google
Really cool place, you can lay down if you get the front seats and watch the movie, bar/restaurant next door which you can access from it's own door outside or through the cinema, we were on the end and could see the screen really well. You can get some really good food and drinks too that you put on a tray and there is pix and mix too. Staff at the bar and in the cinema are very friendly and accommodating, service with a smile.

Yelp
So, since there are no recent reviews I've decided to write one. This was our first time back to the Electric Cinema since before pandemic. Our first time was amazing... the blankets, the food. We went to see John Wick 4 on Sunday evening (26/3/23). There are no more cashmere blankets (pandemic related?) and honestly.... The food sucked. Got nachos and they were literally inedible. The chips were stale. The "salsa" was just hot sauce. The workers were not friendly. Definitely seemed like they didn't want to be there helping people. Three stars for the theatre itself. It's still a fine place to see a movie.... But, bring your own blanket and sneak in your own snacks. Definitely not worth £25/ticket. Oh... to add insult to injury... no popcorn!

Yelp
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 In a soft armchair With my feet up Drinking an Old Fashioned And I'm not at home! Damn, I don't know what else to say. Never mind; I've got more words! First, you've gotta make a reservation. You have your choice between the beds at the front, loveseats, or separate plush armchairs. We picked up our pre-paid tickets at will-call (tickets were £19 each.) Before the movie, we had drinks in the connecting bar, and hells yes you can bring that drink back to the cinema with you! We walked into the theatre through the bar's back entrance and walked into a gorgeous room. I loved it instantly. We made our way to the bar, having finished our drinks and ordered another round. They have food available but we had already eaten. Locating the seats was a little tricky as some of the brass numbers on the ground in front of the seats are worn down. We plop into the armchairs and I look lovingly at my date and take his hand, feeling like a Cialis commercial -- without bathtubs. Watching the screen morph into a larger screen was crazy. The screen size you see is NOT the full size for the movie showing. It expanded out towards us at first, then slowly grew wider and wider -- so awesome. There isn't seat service for food/drinks, so you get your own at the bar. I noticed that they shut it down about 30 minutes into the movie, so drink up, Johnny. The movie was the perfect one to see in this setting. Fun fun FUN! So fun in fact, that I'm getting a gift certificate for somebody. I understand they physically mail a nice card - no digital cards - which somehow just adds to the charm.

Yelp
Electric Cinema has spoiled me for all other movie theaters, if only for their pick & mix. £4 buys enough gummies, chocolates, & sweeties to last long after the credits roll. Don't let the candy fool you; this cinema is one that adults can really appreciate. Think: alcohol served, sophisticated table lamps, & plush red leather armchairs with cashmere blankets stored in the foot rest. In addition, there's the option to reserve a front-row bed or a back-row loveseat. Whatever you choose, make sure to purchase your tickets well in advance. We caught a showing of La La Land here. I would not have wanted to see it anywhere else. Helpful staff members, great Notting Hill location, overall incredible evening at the movies. Make a night of it & grab a bite next door at Electric Diner (review to follow.)

Yelp
Electric Cinema is an example of one of the things I love about London, everyday experiences in gorgeous buildings with top notch service. The cinema is beautiful and the deep leather armchairs with footstools and cashmere blankets heavenly! I could have happily fallen asleep had the film been naff, fortunately it wasn't. I love going to see films but I am so fed up of mainstream cinemas where the seats get increasingly smaller, the leg room is non existent, the prices are creeping up to a standard £15 a ticket and morons talk all the way through the the film! Fortunately none of this happened at the electric and I can say it is definitely worth paying a couple of extra quid for the quality of the experience. We were concerned that as it is quite a social experience, alcohol is available to drink during the films and groups of people seemed to have met there after work, that there might be a few people chatting throughout but luckily all of the talking stopped as soon as the film started. There was a fair queue to order food and drink from the bar before the film but once ordered they bring the food to you in your seats. We ordered the chicken wings and the nachos, both tasty! There was also a selection of cakes and sweets available. The nachos came with the cheese on that we had asked to be removed due to my dairy allergy, but they were happy to take them back and redo them with no fuss. Without a doubt I will be returning! Make sure you look in your footstool for the cashmere blanket.

Yelp
Visited Electric House Cinema on my last night in London to see Captain Marvel. The theater is absolutely beautiful and tickets are worth every penny. The front row features two person beds, the main center seats are individual leather seats and the back row are two person couches. The theater even provides cashmere blankets to keep cozy during the movie. The screen is large and expands to be bigger than the stage and there is a small cafe in the back of the theater that serves snacks and drinks. The coffee was amazing. Doors open 15 minutes before show time. Got there early and went to the doughnut shop around the block, (which was also great). Just overall fantastic. Friendly staff, clean theater, amazing.

Yelp
The best cinema - ever! Make a reservation (about a week in advance) for a 'bed' in front of the cinema. - CHECK. Order a bottle of wine. - CHECK. Order a burger from the restaurant next door. - CHECK. Cuddle up with your significant other and watch the film - CHECK. Seriously, can it GET any better than that (with Chandler-intonation)?! They only show one film, so please keep an eye out that it's one you actually would like to see and note that you can't order drinks during the film (see #2: order a bottle of wine). Truly, this is the best way to spend your time in a cinema and even if you can't get one of the front beds, the lounge chairs looked amazingly comfortable as well. Ooooh I want this cinema SO badly in Amsterdam!

Yelp
Wow, what an amazing unique cinema. This is such a luxurious experience! From the outside you would never expect to see what awaits you inside, situated in the middle of Portbello Road Market. As soon as you walk past the booking office, into the cinema, you are greeted with a beautiful cinema with rows of leather armchairs with footstools and side tables, that are so comfortable to sit at. At the back of the cinema are two-seater sofas and on the front row double beds. Blankets are also available inside the footstools. We were here to watch the live screening of the Oscars from Hollywood, and what a perfect place to watch it short of being at the Hollywood's Dolby Theatre! With the huge screen, its perfect. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of bubbly. On the seats were popcorn and sweets. During the ceremony, we were served by waiters/waitresses with canapes and bowl food, and chocolate brownies. At 3am we were given breakfast! More drinks were available at the bar at the back of the theatre, serving cocktails, wine, beer and champagne, teas and coffees. The event finished at 5am, and when we emerged from the beautiful cinema, the market stallholders were already setting up their market stalls. One incredible night/early morning!

Yelp
Electric Cinema is a bit special. With big seats (VERY unlike regular cinema seats), footstalls and the option to rent actual day bed things that two people can recline on, look no further. The bar stocks wines, beers and spirits, and staff come down with gorgeous packaged hot food before each show in case you want to nibble on some fish and chips or vegie risotto, etc. Totally gorgeous. Perfect for a date or special occasion. Or anytime!

Yelp
As a (recent) stay-at-home mom, I admit that I get a bit bored bouncing my bebe on my knee all day at home! Searching for an escape from laundry, dish washing and staring contests with my kid, I stumbled upon Electric Scream at Electric Cinema. A mommy's paradise...a mid morning showing of a recently released flick that allows to mom's with babies 1 yr or younger to attend. I was a bit nervous that my own baby would scream the entire time and disrupt other moms (or the child next to me would make it impossible to hear the movie), but with the exception of a few whines for a bottle, the babies seemed just as content as the moms watching Leonardo Dicaprio's handsome face on the big screen during the Great Gatsby! The show I attended was sold out, so I suggest booking quite far in advance! Strollers/prams are welcome but need to be left at the back of the theater, so expect to hold your lil one during the movie. If there is a screamer next to you, subtitles are turned on during the flick to ensure you don't miss any key lines. Coffee, tea, water and other refreshments were sold but they lacked big tubs of buttery salted popcorn...which is the only thing that could have made the experience better.

Yelp
The oldest Cinema in town is an experience beyond going to the movies. When I go there I book online as this place does not guarantee you a seat on a spontaneous night out. I took my brother there to watch 'The Last Days' of Curt Cubain. We had quite an intense day, he had to row me over the entire Serpentine Lake and we even made our way to Tate Modern. But my plan did not end then, we went all the way to Portobello Road, as I had to introduce him to the Electric Cinema. This time I knew I am not going to munch a big bucket of pop corn, even better, they do serve food such as fish and chips and little snacks. The food is served in paper cups served on a tray before the movie starts. The best of all, my brother finally got his well-deserved beer, placing it on the table in between us. The cinema is small and comfortable. It is appointed with big sofas on the back of the room. We opted for the seats more to the front. We did not want to get too comfortable. The night had just begun and besides, the sofas are more for couples. The movie was about Nirvana and you would think their music would be the centre of attention, but it was more of a mute art film playing in the same house from the beginning to the end, following Curt Cubain's delirious state. No surprise that my brother got a little bit too comfortable and it did not take long he fell asleep. You can't blame him! This place is made for that. I made a couple of efforts to wake him up when the drums were playing, but my effort made him sink even more into his big, soft seat, falling slightly to the side. I just remember when the movie was over trying to wake him up, who only has taken one sip of his beer so far. We still laugh about that night, but I urge you to go there on a rainy day in London, as it is so much more charming and fun than any other cinema.

Yelp
If you want to go the cinema and watch a movie in more comfort than usual, then go to the Electric Cinema! You will have your own comfy red leather seat, and you can even put your feet up on your own red leather footstall, and you will have your own table to put your food and drinks on. Its amazing. This is no normal cinema, and neither is the bar, you have a huge choice of beers to choose from, Champagne, and whole list of different wines and Cocktails of all things... at the Cinema! And the sweets are different too, no normal snacks. This obviously is a tad more expensive than the usual cinema experience. I have only ever had a seat at the front, which cost £7.50, not bad and more or less the same price as other cinemas. But if you want to go all out and have a two seat sofa, it will cost 25- 30 pounds. I think it would be well worth it. I am going in a couple of days to see Quantum of Solace, and I think I will be getting one of those sofas. Oh, and I forgot to mention that this cinema is the oldest in the whole of London. Definitely take a visit.

Yelp
Are you looking to impress your lady on a first date? Well, look no further. The Electric Cinema is like one of those kids at school you knew who had it all, although it would be more accurate to describe it as a cross between a cinema, a bar and a restaurant. Here, your every need is catered for: even the seats are leather and come with footstools and tables for the nosh you purchased before the show. So kick back with your Kir Royal and your hot tub of snacks and enjoy the show. Okay, regular seats are a lot more expensive than your usual run of the mill cinema (£14.50 for a single and £30 for a sofa) but you're paying for a unique experience. Who knows, she may even let you go to 2nd base. Mondays is concession night, tickets between £7.50 and £10. You can book online.
google avatar

Laura Y.

Yelp
The Electric cinema provides you with the perfect reason not to slum it when wanting to catch a film. With soft, huge leather seating, a good variety of food and drink (that you are allowed to take into the viewing) and a slick programme of films, it is the perfect way to watch a movie in style. I always thought that going to the cinema was a real cop out if it was suggested for a date, but actually this venue is perfect as it is definitely a little more special. The selection of hot and cold food is fantastic and they even serve good old champers at the bar. Lovely. As you would expect, it is slightly more expensive than your average cinema at around £14 for a single (but oh so comfortable) seat but it you are looking for something a little above average, it is certainly worth the extra expense for the experience. Top tip however; if you go on a Monday, the price reduces to a concession rate.

Yelp
Without a doubt this is the most incredible cinema I have ever experienced. I attended a Sunday afternoon screening of 'The Two Faces of January'. Frankly, the movie wasn't excellent but the comfy seats, amazing snacks and beautiful decor made up for it. I was impressed by the cinema's ability to acquire movies not yet widely released with fascinating premises. Go to the Electric Cinema! Seriously.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend for their discount Sunday matinee (week of March 16th). The tickets ended up being £20/£25 I believe for two people. We got one of the beds up front and it was even better than I had hoped! The theater is beautiful and seating was very comfortable. I definitely recommend the bed style seating in front. Only disappointment was there was no popcorn to buy. But it did say it on the website as they say the popcorn makes the theater too smelly. We didn't try the food/drinks at all because we had just had brunch beforehand. It's was a fun afternoon and walking around Nottinghill before and after just topped off the day.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Try booking one of the couches at the back. A bit more expensive, but well worth it. Perfect for date night ;) Tickets can be hard to get, particularly for new releases. I had to book 2 weeks in advance for Bond!

Yelp
Atmosphere is nice. They have a promotion which says half price on dinner. False advertising really unless you get there an hour before. Restaurant is next door and they wont let you take away. We were there 20 minutes early and they advised that wouldnt be enough time by the hostess. So dont buy into that! Business ethics nowadays....

Yelp
THE BEST. I love this cinema. Great value for money when you compare it to a cramped West End multiplex. The seats are incredibly comfortable and I love the cashmere blanket hidden in each footstool. The decor is warm and cosy, and reminiscent of old school Hollywood days. There is also a wonderful food and drink selection (I highly recommend the nachos) and I love the old school pick and mix counter in the foyer.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect place to relax. I wish all movie theaters were this fantastic, comfortable, and baller. In the States we could never have anything so nice. Enjoy a glass of prosecco and some snacks whilst you watch a fab film and hang in your beauteously comfy, velvety soft, plush armchair with ottoman, couch, or, yes, bed.
google avatar

Yelp
What a treat it is to see a film at the Electric cinema! It's the most civilized movie experience I've been through. The seats are amazingly comfortable--big leather seats with armrests and footstools! There are also two loveseat sofas in the back of the cinema. These book out quickly so you have to plan in advance. You can order a bottle of wine and keep it chilled in between your seats. You can also order nibbles or a full dinner to accompany your film--cheese and crackers are always a good bet or if you are feeling quite hungry, you can order mac & cheese, bangers & mash or even Sheppard's pie. The one draw back is the vareity of films... it's not a great big cineplex so what they decide to show is what you have to watch. I'm not sure I can ever go back to seeing films at regular cinemas. I'm forever spoilt by the Electric.
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
Such a beautiful movie theater. We got one of the beds right up at the front of the theater. It was fun to lay down with pillows and blankets while watching the film!

Yelp
I was expecting more. I got less. Loads of people stood waiting in the reception area for the employees to open the doors to the cinema past the 18:15 entry time on everyone's tickets that were booked for £14.50 weeks in advance. The 'substantial gourmet' hot snacks at the bar consisted of hummus and pitta, vegetables and dip, and sausage rolls and ketchup. Pass. Instead Robert D and I got two very small packets of popcorn, a brownie, and a bottle of water to share. £9. We found our seats: leather easy chairs complete with footstools. More comfortable than a chair at the Odeon, yes, but not more comfortable than your couch at home. My chair had completely lost its form (as leather chairs are wont to do after hundreds of people put their asses on them), so I ended up with my ass sunk back and down and my shoulders slumped forward and my neck craned awkwardly to look up at the screen. I can only imagine these chairs will worsen with more time. The screen was good; the sound was LOUD; the experience overall was enjoyable. The ladies' toilets had two facilities, and the men's had one. The luxury soap in the ladies' smelled nice but left my hands itchy (yikes). Overall, the toilets couldn't handle the post cinema crowd. So, all these negatives yet why the four stars? Because it was cool, goddamnit. Have a good time at the Odeon, suckers.

Yelp
I have never known cinema comfort like this. Recline in a over-sized leather lounge chair - or better yet - get the couch at the back.. Hmm when i say 'couch' that might be totally misleading..it is like a magical squishy leather haven about the size of a king size bed. I kid you not... Lie in it and lurve it. I know i did... There is a bar at the back that will sell you ridiculously overpriced and undersized portions of food. Hope you've got deep pockets or a small appetite for cinema snacks.. A pawful of popcorn is £1.50 (and i mean a small paw..I'd say you get about 18 pieces of popcorn)..but hey who cares about that when you've got a scrumptious glass of red and you are laying in sofa heaven.

Yelp
This is the cinema that made me start a cinema blog! This place is banging. Period. On a scale of one to 'the best cinema to have around the corner from you, ever', the Electric sits firmly on the epic-win end. Now I'm living in Notting Hill, it's a few minutes away, and really, I'm pretty spoiled to be able to call it my 'local'. I've been visiting the Electric for years, which is owned by the Soho House Group (SHG) and sits in the same space as Electric House and Electric Diner. Of all three, I think the cinema is the biggest draw. While brunch in the Diner is nice, the Portobello Road mainstay is one of the oldest working cinemas in the UK, mixing old school glamour with SHG's trademark polish and plush decor. Opened originally in 1910 and getting a HUGE 2m remodel in 2001 (funded by Monsoon founder Peter Simon no less), the listed-building is now one of London's most loved cinemas. As with most luxury cinemas, tickets are hardly cheap, but with Secret Cinema pushing the top end of the price bracket further and further upwards (read: taking the piss), the £18 cost for one of the 65 armchairs with side tables and footstool doesn't seem too bad. Especially when multiplex seats go for around £14, and you'd pay more for an IMAX showing. On top of the armchairs (which drop to £15.50 on a Monday and £15 on a Sunday), there are six front row beds - yes, actual beds - you can pick up for £30 standard rate and three two-seater back row sofas for £45. As you'd expect, there's a bar that opens 10 minutes before the advertised programme time, serving cocktails, wine, beer and champagne. There's also hot food and snacks galore, plus a super-cute retro pick & mix stand out in the foyer. To benchmark, a burger will cost you a tenner, wine starts at £15/bottle, so it's not too pricey. The Electric is also home to SHG's Edible Cinema concept, which pairs classic films with a multi-course tasting experience. I went to the Romeo & Juliet showing earlier this year (actually held at BAFTA), but tickets sell out FAST when they're back on home turf. Well worth signing up to the newsletter as details for upcoming events get distributed there first. If you're after a civilised cinema experience in plush surroundings, minus the kids throwing popcorn, this is definitely your best bet.

Yelp
A friend and I wanted to see Cindarella and the Electric Cinema could not have been a more perfect setting and place in which to watch it. We sat back with our prosecco in the most comfortable cinema chair I have ever sat in and watched with glee our favourite fairytale. When it started to become a little chilly there are wonderful cashmere blankets neatly stored in your footstool in front of you for you to use. 100% worth every penny and will be heading back very very soon.

Yelp
The pick & mix, fully stocked bar and incredibly comfortable armchair style seating really sold this place for me, although the ticket prices are a little higher than heading down to your local chain cinema it's worth it. The whole place feels as though you've stepped back in time, little lamps are set on small tables between the seats and their are even 'bed' style seating down the front for those wanted to have a little romance and cuddle up watching a film.

Yelp
Just got done with a family vacation to Europe and England, and the Electric Cinema was the highlight of my trip. If you love going to the movies this is a must do as an American. Tickets are tough to get as there is only (1) screen so get seats for a day or two out. I can't recommend this experience enough. Very comfortable antique theater, with a bar and old penny type candy on sale. The bar in the theater is great, the leather wing back chairs, the ottoman's to put your fee up, everything is top notch. So you know the bar at the back of the theater stops serving after the movie starts, but not a problem a quick run through the Toilet door to the pub next door, and boom, you grab a pint, bring it back into the movie and "game on." Staff were very helpful. I will be back next time I'm in London on business, for sure. Was slightly concerned about the full beds in the front row as I had my 18 year old and 14 year old with me on this trip, but the bed occupants just lounged and enjoyed the movie as well. Looked very comfortable. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
This place is absolute perfection, but be forewarned: this is not one of those 'they have a great selection of movies' places. Actually they don't - and I've seen many a terrible movie just because it was playing at the Electric. But for the same price as any other London cinema, they'll make you (and by that I mean ME) feel like a cultured goddess with their plush chairs, beautiful decor, and sophisticated snack bar/bar bar. Bonus points for scoring the sofas at the back. My last Electric adventure, I scored New Year's Day sofa tickets for "I Am Legend." When preparing to tolerate, hung over no less, a cinematic abomination as terrible as "I Am Legend" full recline capacity is absolutely necessary. As is a bar. Check, check! Check to the Woolworths across the street with a fab pick-n-mix section which I unabashedly smuggled in, and CHECK for being right near the Number 52 bus stop, as it was raining by the time we emerged, unimpressed and a little punch-drunk after 2 hours of Will Smith. If you get there before the lights go down, you'll also notice the cinema decor is actually rather beautiful.

Yelp
I went here recently to see "Bling Ring" with a friend. We had just had dinner at Pizza East and were walking towards another theater and walked by this one, realizing that they were showing the same movie at a more convenient time. While the theater looked a bit run-down and dingy from the outside, we figured we were here, we may as well. When I went to pay, I kind of died a little on the inside. £18 to see a movie? As a recent transplant to London, I was expecting to pay more to go to the theater, but I did not expect a price this steep. I forked over my £20 note and hoped somehow I wouldn't feel as guilty. Guilt quickly disappeared once I stepped inside this theater. It is unlike any theater I've ever been to and I immediately knew it was well worth the money spent (not even caring how the movie turned out). We sat in these plush beautiful tufted leather chairs with cozy lamps on tables between the chairs. There were also loveseats as well as sofa beds that could be bought where couples were cuddling (great date idea!). The theater was nothing short of beautiful, cozily lit. They had a cafe with great looking desserts and pastries, but my friend and I opted to share a carafe of white wine to go along with the movie. We settled into our chairs, stretching our legs out on matching footstools and covered ourselves with cashmere blankets (provided), to prepare for the most comfortable and enjoyable movie experience I've had at any theater. I could have sat in that chair for hours after the movie ended. I would highly recommend this place for a date and/or if you're looking for a thoroughly luxurious and cozy movie viewing experience. Definitely something to wow out of town guests with. :)

Yelp
What a great cinema! As mentioned in some of the other reviews this is an extremely comfortable cinema experience. My boyfriend and I shared one of the big, leather, squishy sofas that come with foot stools bigger than most Notting Hill flats. The only problem is that the sofas are at the back and staff and other cinema goers tend to walk in front of you when serving food/going to the loo. No biggy though. I'll definitely go again!

Yelp
Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to be a patron of the cinema, therefor this review is only for the restaurant. Reservations are a must as this small(er) restaurant becomes jam-packed with elites and scenesters. I was told they serve the best-burger in the world -I was properly informed. Served on a wooden slab, my burger was phenomenal. One star off for the waitstaff not paying attention to their wine list. Great dinner overall. (next time, I will take advantage of their weekday movie/ dinner package... what a steal!)

Yelp
This place gets booked quickly. I tried to get tickets for Silver Linings Playbook on Thursday night for a Friday screening of 9:30, and all the seats were booked. We resorted to getting front row armchairs instead for a Friday screening of 6. After many experiences of sitting in the front row and craning my neck painfully for Harry Potter movies, I was prepared for more awkward movie watching when I stepped into Electric Cinema. Relieved when I saw that the armchairs, despite being in the front row, was a comfortable distance away from the screen. Even more relieved to see leather seats (is anyone as sketched out as me by fabric seats?) and cashmere blankets stored under the footstools. I saw that the couches in the front were actually beds, conducive to couple canoodling (note to all the gentlemen looking for a date location), and the decoration at the place was absolutely gorgeous. You pay for the experience (15 quid for the movie ticket, 5 quid for peppers, 8 I think for the burger) but it's more comfortable than the standard movie fare, and coupled with a pint of beer, it was just the place to wind down on a Friday evening.

Yelp
I can't believe I've never been to the Electric Cinema as it is only 10 minutes away from me. Well, that was because I had the misconception that it was REALLY expensive. Then I realised that the prices in Notting Hill hasn't really gone up in the last few years (so great to live in an area that is "inflation proof because it was too expensive already") so now everything is normal price! Woop. If you think about it, a 3D movie in westfield costs about 17 quid, so for 18 at the Electric, it's a bargain considering how much nicer it is. I mean, who doesn't want to be curled up in a super comfy leather armchair with a cozy (but suspect) cashmere blankets, eating delicious fried chicken wings and sipping a pint while watching guardians of galaxy. WHO? There are also beds in front and sofas at the back if you want to do some spooning during the movie. The only bad thing is that the cinema has a history of flooding (apparently according to the website)- that might be why we had to go all the way to the duke of wellington to go to the loo. Boohiss.

Yelp
This is a movie experience complete with libations. You can't miss it, even if the movie is terrible. Enjoyed dessert, coffee and wine during Godzilla over the summer? Excessive? No, I would say it's expectation. Great for a date. Will be returning next time I'm in London.

Yelp
One of the best cinema experiences I have had! You will need to make a reservation quite early to be able to get the 'bed' seating at the front, but it is definitely worthwhile. You will need to keep an eye out for what film they are currently showing, and definitely make sure it is a film you want to see, and you are not just seeing a film, for the sake of seeing a film. We went to see the Grand Budapest Hotel, and I think the style of the film complimented the the old theatre look, and made the experience even better. Plus, if you go to the Electric Diner beforehand, you are able to take your food in with you to eat during the film. A huge bonus!

Yelp
The Electric cinema is a legend. One of those still with character and loyal to its roots with truly beautiful old-fashioned interior with wide seats, big enough to curl up and just feel cozy. Showing often more independent, art, foreign or alternative movies, from just one screen, makes the place very authentic and rare thing to find. The specialty is that on the back they have some sofas and huge armchairs. You are also allowed to take your drinks with you, and by drinks I mean something like Martini or glass of wine. They have a proper bar so this experience is very different from what the regular mega super chains has to offer. I love it!

Yelp
I truly love this place. I feel fairly confident that no matter how poor the flick, I would always treasure an Electric experience. From the absurdly comfy chairs to the cashmere blankets (sneakily tucked away under your foot rest - I was so excited to make that discovery!) and the champagne to the gourmet snacks, truly a viewing experience matched by no other. Call me a sucker, but it also just feels cool. If I could watch every movie I ever saw and ever will see at the Electric, I would. I definitely plan on bringing out-of-town visitors here to wow em

Yelp
Electric Cinema is the best movie theater in the whole world! I sunk into my red leather wing chair, plopped my feet up on my red leather tufted foot rest and I was instantly transported to movie La La land... A dreamland in which I enjoyed a delicious blue cheese burger, sweet potato fries and drink... Plan to see a movie in this cozy, relaxing world of another movie land era...

Yelp
One of my favourite cinemas in the world. For a real art-house cinematic experience in comfy surroundings you can't do much better than the Electric cinema. Great place to take a date or a group of friends or even if you just fancy a bit of me time. Food is good quality at a reasonable price and you'll never feel out of place in these relaxed settings. A real gem of a place showing both commercial and less mainstream movies

Yelp
Luxurious cinema experience. Comfy seats, and lush surrounds. Treat yourself.

Yelp
Once you've been to the electric cinema, there's really no turning back. Why would you ever sit down on uncomfortable chairs and crane your neck around people when you could like on luxurious velvet beds with cashmere blankets? Alternatively, if you're not lucky enough to get a bed, you'll be almost equally comfortable in a reclining lounging sofa-chair. Let's not forget that you also can have wine and snacks brought to you. I've also occasionally brought in food from the Electric Diner next door (with their permission). Try to reserve as early as you can to get your favourite seats; they are worth every penny!

Yelp
The Electric is a super cool cinema located in Notting Hill so its such a shame that considering I live about 15 minutes walk away I've never seen a movie there! Booking ahead is definitely the key at The Electric particularly for the bigger blockbusters and also on Mondays (when prices are cheaper.) The cinema seats just over 100 cinema goers so its not a huge cinema by any stretch of the imagination but the screen is more than adequate for your viewing. The cinema is broken up into three sections: - The rear which features the 2 person seater sofas. Nice for those who want to cuddle. - The middle which features nice large comfortable leather seats (big enough to curl up in!) with footstool and side table with wine cooler. - The front rows (three) which are the same as the middle rows but sans the footstool. The cinema also has a bar at the back of the cinema which is open for about half an hour before the movie begins. Be prepared however for a winner takes all attitude with the patrons because you can politely wait in line only to find that everyone else is pushing in front of you. And this is quite possibly the main drawback of the cinema - the other cinema goers. I couldn't believe how pushy some of them were. Sigh.

Yelp
This is a great place: elegant, atmospheric, with a rich history and luxurious. Definitely worth a visit and I would be glad to visit it again and again. As many have pointed out, rightly, the prices are higher than elsewhere, with the exception of those cheap Mondays. I understand this used to be a genuinely arthouse cinema - it was the last place to screen something as risky as Pasolini's Salo apparently - but it doesn't really live up to that reputation anymore. They do seem to pick critically acclaimed movies, but ones that play all across London (think Apocalypto, for example), with the result that the programme these days is pretty mainstream. Indeed, you could watch all the same stuff at Odeon Whiteleys not too far from The Electric and this might come a bit cheaper. So, by all means go to The Electric if you want to, but don't expect anything cutting edge. There are more arthouse places in London than this, BFI Southbank being a prime example.

Yelp
This place has to be the coolest cinema in London. Big Leather seats with more leg-room than a Virgin Atlantic business class, and more comfortable than a hammock on a windy day. The films are well-chosen and the staff accommodating. Not only this, but the sort of cinema food you get is a thousand times better than the usual muck and a thousand times cheaper. Different selections every day, served in gorgeous mini buckets, treat yourself to some marinated chipolatas, or mini fish and chips and relax as you escape to fantasy land.

Yelp
This is, without question, my number one most favourite cinema in London (in the UK it's second only to the Little Theatre in Bath). Whenever there's a film I'm dying to see, I splash out and see it at the Electric. The seats are really comfy, armchairs all round and if you book early enough you can even nab one with a footstool, or a sofa for two. Even sitting quite near the front is fairly comfortable. The snacks are delish, if a little pricey. And you can even indulge in a cheeky bottle of wine or a nice cup of tea. What's great about going to the Electric is you feel like it's really an experience, it's a bit special - as opposed to going to your local Vue where going to the cinema is about as exciting as getting on a bus.

Yelp
One of the best cinema's in London - a real treat and the perfect place to go on a date, especially if you book one of the two-seater sofabeds!!! I have been loads of times with my boyfriend and with girlfriends and I would recommend it 100%. Tip: I often go for dinner first then regret it as the food there is so delicious! We've written a full review of it here: http://www.thegreatdateguide.com/dates/the-electric-cinema

Yelp
Beautiful! Very friendly and polite stuff, good drinks (haven't tried the food but looked delicious), definitely not your typical cinema. It's well worth the price, not even remotely comparable to your local imax. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is that the armchairs are so big (and comfortable) that it's hard to see/speak to the person you came with. Especially if you're on a date. But I guess there's the big beds for that

Yelp
Whoah! This cinema is one of a kind. Guys, if you want to take a girl to a casual date and still impress her, Electric Cinema is the perfect place. The luxuous, original and spacious interior, the leather seatings, the footstools and the 2-seater sofas at the back of the theatre make this place a very romantic one. Just one tip: book in advance (you can book online).

Yelp
What an amazing cinema. Cocktails, brownies and somewhere to put your feet up. Yes not the biggest screen but still an excellent venue for those who like to have a cheeky cocktail while watching a film. I you are in Notting Hill I would definitely recommend you go! There is a nice restaurant below although I haven't been - but whenever I have been past it is always bustling and busy
