"If you want to impress someone by taking them to a spot that feels underground, go to Elio’s Wood Fire Pizza. Stationed daily at an empty parking lot in Echo Park, the mobile trailer’s lights glow its name in green, white, and red lights like a Vegas sign. Peek inside and you’ll see a wood-burning pizza oven that used to operate from an old pick-up truck back when the business launched in 2019. Outside, folks are milling around waiting for their 12-inch Neapolitan-style pizzas that come out quickly with a blistered, chewy crust while others are already enjoying theirs in the trunk of their cars. There are nine pizzas to choose from, with ingredients from burrata to barbecue chicken, but you can’t miss the prosciutto one layered over arugula and mozzarella." - jean trinh 1, sylvio martins
"Elio’s is finally back in the Silver Lake parking lot where they debuted last year as one of our favorite new pizza spots. And here’s a shocker: Their pizza truck oven is still making some really great pizzas. The heavily blistered pies are $12 for a personal-sized cheese, plus $1 for each topping - we usually get one with sausage, pepper, and onion, and one with artichoke and basil. A basic, medium-sized cheese pie here costs $10 and comes with fresh basil, with each additional topping costing another $1.
