Daytime cafe for Zabar's specialties that turns into a bar for local beers & shandies after dark.
"As for the getting laid part? That’s on you. But if you want to continue to move things in the right direction, head to Eli’s Night Shift. It feels much more like a place you would find much farther downtown. And in this case, that’s a good thing." - katherine lewin
"During the day, this place is a cafe. But at night it turns into a little restaurant/bar that’s perfect for an early-in-the-game date. They have a good beer and wine selection, they make some serious cocktails, and they serve stuff like fish tacos and sliders. The only catch is, this place is is pretty small - there’s a bar, a few communal tables, and some stools at the window. If they’re empty, grab two of those and see if your date’s pupils dilate when they look at the menu and read “pigs in a blanket.” That’s a good sign." - bryan kim
"If you’re on the Upper East Side and you want to eat burger by yourself, go to Eli’s Night Shift. This place is a cafe during the day and a bar starting at 5pm, and you can always grab a stool by the windows if you don’t feel like making small talk with anyone. The burger is pretty classic, with a big patty and a brioche bun, and there are a bunch of great house cocktails for you to drink alongside it." - bryan kim
"You won’t find typically find mead and negronis hanging out together, but that’s exactly what’s happening at this cool UES spot. If you’re too chicken (or too much of a negroni purist) to try the mead variation, they also make classic versions in 8oz and 16oz sizes. Place your to-go or delivery order here." - hannah albertine, nikko duren
"Upper East Side haunt Eli’s Night Shift is back open for takeout and delivery, according to the bar’s owners." - Erika Adams
