Fish-and-chips joint offering lunch and dinner in an informal setting.
"Down near Columbia City, there’s a fish and chip shop on the corner of Rainier and Charlestown that you might have driven right past without noticing. Not only do they serve some of the best fried seafood in the city, but there’s a ton of variety here, from perfectly-seasoned cod to crunchy, breaded salmon. Their incredible crab puppies—which sound like the cutest baby animals in existence—are also a delicious cross between crab cakes and hushpuppies. Order these with extra sides of Emerald City’s spicy tartar sauce, or be eternally sad when you run out with still a handful of fries left." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente
"This fish and chip shop on the corner of Rainier Ave S. and S. Charleston does serve great crispy halibut, salmon, and everything in between. But Emerald City’s true pièce de résistance is their crab puppies. No, they’re not a zoology experiment gone wrong—they’re made up of a crab cake mixture combined with hushpuppy batter in one convenient package that has a brittle shell giving way to fluffy, crabby cornbread fritters. Dunk them liberally in the accompanying zesty tartar sauce." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"This tiny, bare-bones South Seattle gem has been frying fine Southern-inspired seafood for a decade, with choices ranging from salmon to halibut to catfish to cod. The prices are still extremely reasonable, with some fish and chip options available for $10. And while fish is obviously the star of the show, the rest of owner Stevie Allen's menu is airtight as well, particularly the gumbo and po’ boys." - Meg van Huygen, Eater Staff

"Combining the spice and flavors of owner Stevie Allen’s Southern roots with Pacific Northwest traditions leads to things like crab puppies, spiced vinegary sweet potato fries, and crisply fried breaded Alaskan cod with a dusting of spices. There’s no shortage of great fish and chips in Seattle, but Emerald City is a particularly special bargain." - aimee rizzo
