Chicago’s Best Spanish Restaurants | Eater Chicago
"Chef Emilio Gervilla cut his teeth working at tapas bars and restaurants throughout Spain before opening up his namesake suburban restaurant in 1988. Ever since, he’s been serving diners a range of small plates with big flavor, including paella Valencia, patatas con aioli, and paprika-seasoned octopus. The downtown location shuttered in early 2018, but check out the calendar on the regular for events like cooking classes, wine dinners, and family paella nights in the suburbs." - Ashok Selvam
We were celebrating a couple of birthdays and had a great time. There was a party of 20-25 people whose food came right after we sat which I think was good. The service was good, the food and drinks were delicious and interesting. The only thing I had to complain about was that although they knew it was 2 of our birthdays, they didn't bring out a dessert or sing us a song. I don't think I would have noticed except that there were 4 other birthdays that people got singing AND cake. We did get a sign and balloon when we came in at our table, so that was nice.

It takes a lot for me to rate a restaurant with five stars, but Emilos hits the mark! Terrific food, wine, atmosphere and service. The patatas bravas was perfectly seasoned. The pulpo francha was tender and delicious. The Valencia paella was cooked to perfection. Good sangria as well.

Such amazing cuisine! Everything was seasoned to perfection! We enjoyed the happy hour menu along with a few of the other tapas options on the regular menu. Our server Anna was so attentive and very sweet. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and they gave us a complimentary glass of wine each along with a little tapas plate. Everyone that works here is so very nice. Thank you!

This was a great place for dinner especially if you have a group. We were a group of 6 so we ordered a ton of tapas to try out. Cost per person wasn’t bad since we divided everything by 6. Service was very good. They took care of us and food came out fast. There were way too many tapas to go through so I’ll just summarize it. Each tapa dish hit the mark, didn’t remember any that failed. I would definitely come back for dinner. Parking was sufficient, you can easily find a spot.
