Family plate, couples version, was definitely a great start for the first time. Recommended on the reviews. Favorites were the dishes with lamb and the other with cabbage. I really enjoyed the beef, spicier and the red lentil dish. Except for some trouble with confusion on the bill, great service with only a few, maybe one too few, check-ins. Would go again.

I really like Miser, so I was a little bummed that they ran out. Otherwise, the customer service was great! (One waiter and completely full, yet they were still attentive and quick!) The rest of the food was yummy too; we especially liked the lamb and cabbage.

Me and 3 friends got the sampler plate and it was just the right amount of food. Our favorite was the beef. I also really liked the lentils. The service was great and friendly. Halfway through our platter we thought it wouldnt be enough so we ordered and additional order of the tibs, but by the time we finished our platter we were stuffed! Still pretty good as leftovers. Would reccomend.

Wowwowowowowow. Injera - delicious. The lentils, the chickpeas and the collards are my favorite. My partner loved the protein sides he ordered. Note: I didn’t love the baklava or the coffee. However, I don’t require dessert especially with a dinner as satisfying as it was here. 5/5 yum

My partner and I got the "Family Combo" and it was DELICIOUS!!!!! The assorted meats/stews and lentils and greens were nothing under amazing! I have never had Ethiopian food before and I can't imagine finding a better Ethiopian restaurant in Portland 🥰 The host and the server were so attentive, gracious, and very kind! I recommend everyone try Enat Kitchen!

This food was amazing. Just, I cannot sing the praises enough. Staff was super friendly. Answering any questions we had. The sample platter was the way to go. They asked if it was ok to put everyone's order on a giant plate and it was the right call for a group of four.

Ethiopian cuisine is one of my favorites and this is top 2 in the country (along with Ras in Brooklyn)! Delicious food, had vegan combos and beef tibs, perfect spice level and everything was flavorful. The injera was on point as well. The owner was very pleasant and made himself available to chat and give the backstory of the restaurant he shares with his mother. 100% recommend!

After searching for an Ethiopian restaurant around Portland area, I came across Enat Ethiopian restaurant. The place looks inviting from the outside with clean area and benches for outdoor seating with a natural garden. As you walk inside, the ambiance is warm and welcoming. I was greeted by a courteous young gentleman who was friendly. I ordered the veggie combo platter and as an Ethiopian who was taught by my mother on cooking Ethiopian food, I was not disappointed and even enjoyed this dish. The chickpea stew was well balanced, the lentils was cooked with proper consistency, the collard greens and string beans was also sautéed accordingly. All in all, it is a great cozy spot for anyone looking to bring either a family or a couple or just an individual like myself would enjoy. Cheers!

been coming to ENAT KITCHEN for almost 6 years and same time same order .. same taste 5 times a week .. and indeed well deserved to be the highest level of all restaurants.. ENAT means MOM . And I feel like home 24/7 Seeing is believing Tasting is the evidence

We visited Enat kitchen for friday. It's a very unassuming little place with friendly service. FYI there is no parking lot for the restaurant itself. Only street parking. Food was good. We ordered the couple platter and loved the collard greens and the lamb.

Overview: Place is clean, staff is friendly, lots of gooood vegetarian options. Food: We got a 7 item combo and shared it. Favorites: Gomen -collard greens w/ garlic ginger. Atakilt cabbage potatoes carrots Beets -tasty Lentils miser ket wot- flavorful but not too spicy Beans- also very flavorful and rich. Injera - just right with the classic tang to it. Will I go back - oh yes!!

The lentil sambusas were a hit! Highly recommend. I got the combo plate and the served kindly did half beef and half chicken. I really enjoyed the chicken entree and would other that again. Service was great. We celebrated a friend's birthday and they brought him a dessert and changed the TV to a birthday song. I recommend giving this place a try.

Customer service here is usually really good! The quality of the food can be hit or miss. At times it has been served lukewarm or cold, and other times I noticed the ingredients were not very fresh.

So so good! I can't believe the line for this place doesn't wrap around the block. I am still thinking about the couple style we got- it was the perfect size for two people! Everything was flavorful, fresh, so yummy!!

The food and the service here was phenomenal... will definitely go back! The 4 of us shared a family combo plate with coffee and beers and there was more than enough food. Service was great, the young man who seated us and took our orders was personable and fun to talk with, able to describe different dishes and make suggestions. Glad we chose to eat here.

It was tasty. Not too experienced w/ Ethiopian cuisine & while I have liked all I've tried, I noticed that the flavors here seemed to be a little more... flavorful than some other places, particularly the reddish meat dishes (wot something). That's not too say anything was spicy or very wild flavor wise, I think Ethiopian food is something ur white gramma could handle (as long as u can convince her to eat w/ her hands). The flavors are always very mild & comforting. They have the sample platters here so you can try a bit of everything (2 person or family size) which is usually the way to go for me but if you want one of the specific things they have entrees too. I also appreciate they add a little fresh scoop of lettuce/tomatoes to add a bit of crunch/freshness bc my one complaint about the Ethiopian food I've tried is that everything is kind of a soft (I don't wanna say mushy but...) texture so it's nice to change it up a bit. Come try this cozy little family owned restaurant.

I love the friendly vibe at this place. I've eaten here 3 times and the food is flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend! And did you know the bread is gluten free and probiotic.

Excellent choice for Ethiopian food. There was a separate VEGAN section on the menu, which I really appreciate. There's a vegan "sampler" with 5 different choices on the injera. I told the waiter I was vegan, and he just said "I'll set you up!" It was perfect and delicious!! Like many other reviewers have said; it's a VERY friendly establishment. Several workers came by to check on me with big smiles. After I paid, the waiter said "I just made some coffee. Do you want some?" Can't say that's ever happened to me before. Highly recommend.

Everything was great until they took our food to the wrong table. The server we had was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a family combo and it was plenty of food for 4 people. We also had an order of Sambusa which was delicious. The family combo had 3 different kinds of meat and two kinds of beans. The bread is an interesting texture so if you have texture issues you might not like the bread. Try the honey water, it's very good.

This place is sooooo good. I've done my research (ate a lot of food) and I'm pretty sure this is the best Ethiopian food in town.

This was my first experience with Ethiopian food, so I don't have much to go off of. We ordered the chicken and beef tibs. The meat was delicious, very flavorful and tender. Now, I don't know what injera normally tastes like but it almost ruined the dish for me. It was very sour and overpowering. I am completely aware that their injera may be the gold standard and it's just not for me though so take my opinion for what it's worth. I would happily go back and avoid the injera altogether and just enjoy the meat dishes. I will also add that if you genuinely have trypophobia, you may struggle with the injera. Overall, I learned a lot about Ethiopian food and I'm willing to give it another go, with some minor adjustments.

Delicious food prepared with love and a special brightness that brings a special experience to the old lentils or cabbage. I'm a vegetarian eater and I was not disappointed. The only thing that is lacking is the server attention to his customers needs.... Too bad, this place deserves a five stars.

Came on a week night & the service was chill. It was my first time trying Ethiopian food & the combo was a great way to try different stews & flavor profiles. I would have to say the beef & chicken stews were my FAVORITE! Can't wait to come back!

My 1st time trying Ethiopian food & it was great! The owner is very nice and personable. Service is top tier. I especially like the art work decor around the restaurant. Casual dining but the flavors are anything but casual.

Such good food! Great service -- attentive and accommodating. My friend is a "no spice" kinda woman and they made her dishes especially for her. They have 100% teff injera -- so made my gluten free tummy was happy. The vegetarian sampler is my go to and it delivered -- a lot of delicious food, with enough to take home for another meal.

My boyfriend and I went here tonight and we loved it! I got a vegetarian platter, while he got the Enat special, and everything was spectacular. We live near Eugene and are already talking about when we can come back for more!

I don't even know where to begin this review because I have been coming to this place since 2015ish and my only complaint is that pre-COVID it would take a bit longer than most places for food to come out. The service was always wonderful and they would keep me posted. I used to live across the street and frequented. I left for a couple of years and now I'm back and the ambiance is still *chefs kiss* I am appreciative that they are still open and remembered me nowadays I'm ordering my Beef tibs with extra injera to go and still just as good.

Great Ethiopian food. I enjoyed how different the Ethiopian food was here compared to the ones I've had in San Jose. For the price, you get an amazing amount of food. The injera was spot on and paired well with everything. I would say that the meats were on point. The main difference I noticed was in the vegetables which were different and a bit less stewed than what I was used to, but these were still all very tasty. Great spot!

I was really disappointed when I ordered doro wat chicken only to get home and find 1 small drumstick. I still can't believe they charged me $20 for it.

I was really craving some Ethiopian food, this was the first time I tried this restaurant & I'm glad that I did because it was very satisfying! I ordered through Ubereats so I can't speak on the customer service, Covid-19 precautions, cleanliness, or ambiance but they packaged everything very well. I ordered the veggie combo & lentil sambusa. The injra was so soft & fluffy, they provided the perfect amount for 1 person, everything on the veggie combo tasted fresh & delicious. The only thing that I would have adjusted to make this a 5/5 for my tastebuds was adding a bit more flavor distinction between the different veggies. Don't get me wrong they all blended very well but I personally couldn't tell them apart besides the obvious texture difference from cabbage, collards, beets, & lentils. My favorite thing about this meal was the lentil sambusa; wow the dough was so buttery, flaky, & the perfect amount of crispy/softness. Great flavors all around but I wish they had some kind of sauce paired with it to help take it to the next level. I should add that I ordered about 40 minutes before they closed so I was afraid that it would effect the food quality but they did not disappoint, I'll definitely be eating here again!

First time here and every thing was delish! I enjoyed the injera and all the sides. Everyone on our party was pleased. Also the sambusas beef and lentil were outstanding .

Amazing service! I went a couple of months ago and a young women was the only one working the front of house! She remained positive and cheerful while taking care of over 40 customers! Food was delish and beautifully made! Nothing like what I've had before and was amazingly impressed.

The service was very slow. It took 30 minutes to bring our drinks, and 50 minutes to bring our food. They did not provide utensils and napkins until I asked them. The quality of the food was medium and it wasn't definitely worth the price they charged us. Never try it again!

This place is fantastic. We order from here often and it is consistently delicious. We like the chicken tibbs and miser key wot (lentil dish). Dishes are served inside of sourdough type thin bread which you can use to eat the entree with.

The food is delicious and a good value. The people are very kind. The actual restaurant is cozy and well decorated. The only reason I can't give this restaurant 5 stars is the speed of service and them missing our appetizer. It literally took more time for us to get our check to pay after eating than for us to sit down, order, and eat the food.

I agree with all the other reviews that the food is amazing however for me the wait was just not worth it . A restaurant is not only about the quality of food , its also about the quality of service . we waited for a very long time as did everyone else that was in the place , whats baffling is the staff doesn't acknowledge that this is an issue. we ordered the Doro wot which was delicious and had the veggie platter as well and their Buticha was extremely good .I definitely would not be returning back , I have had equally good Ethiopian food in other Portland restaurants without sitting an hour .

Love the veggie combo. Got two orders for takeout and it did seem like the portions in each were a little smaller than if you'd eat in the store but so it goes. I'll still come back.

Great option for vegan/vegetarian food. They have a variety of samplers, including one that feeds three people for $32. They do have a variety of meat dishes on the menu in addition to a whole page of vegan dishes. The service has been slow both times we went, though we do always enjoy the food.

A friend suggested we try this place out for dinner since we both love Ethiopian cuisine and we were in the mood to go somewhere we've never been before. There was a good variety of dishes on the menu, however we decided to try the smaller family style "couple" platter which offered a choice of 2 meat dishes and 5 veggie dishes. The meal comes with Injera bread and a salad. So for our platter this is what we ordered: Lamb Key Wot (lamb stewed in berbere sauce) Beef Alicha Wot (curried beef stew) Miser Alicha Wot (lentils with garlic, ginger, spices) Gomen (collard greens with garlic, ginger, spices) Buticha (ground chickpeas with lemon juice, onions, jalapeños) Atkilt (cabbage, potatoes, carrots with garlic, ginger, spices) Shiro (split peas cooked in berbere sauce) The meat dishes were perfectly seasoned and had a nice kick to them, not too spicy. All of the veggie dishes were also very good, I especially liked the Buticha (nice kick from the jalapeños) and the Gomen (delicate and tender). I also really enjoyed the salad that came with our meal which was very refreshing and balanced out the spices. The Injera bread was fresh and spongy, perfect for soaking up sauce. Service and atmosphere was laid back, friendly, and casual. For dinner, value-wise it's best to do it family style because you get to try a lot of things on one plate. The larger "family" plate is $40 (serves up to 5 people) and the smaller "couple" plate is only $29 (serves up to 3 people). Had a very enjoyable dining experience, would love to return to try out their weekday lunch buffet.

This place is great! The lady was very kind and inviting. Our order came quickly and was delicious. She was helpful. We were also glad to find an Ethiopian place open for lunch. Some of the foods were spicy and some were not. Very helpful for vegans. She could tell us exactly what we could order and there were a lot of options. They were all very good. We've had Ethiopian food before and liked this place better.

This place was so fire. Food was amazing, the server was amazing. The ayb is homemade and so good. The server had us try it and I'm so glad she did. Also try to come on a Thursday or Saturday because they have a special - doro wat - SO GOOD. chicken falls right off the bone and it's so flavorful. Words can't do this place justice.

We got delivery from Enat recently and it was GREAT! Shiro wat and the enat special were both delicious. Will definitely order from here again. !

One of the best Ethiopian restaurants in Portland, at least from the several we've tried so far. What makes Enat Kitchen special isn't the somewhat plain decor or the usually friendly staff but the food, particularly the miser key wot (lentils cooked with onion, garlic, bebere sauce), the atakilt wat (cabbage, potatoes, carrots), and the delicious gomen (collard greens) which we always get a double order of, and which to our disappointment sometimes sells out. Enat Kitchen is a vegetarian's paradise. Their meat offerings are also flavorful and carefully prepared, with just enough spice, but we come for the veggies and get the "couple" version family style, which gives you smaller versions of a choice of two meats and five vegetables. I should add that their injera is also delicious, and ample.

Delicious food, great service, nice atmosphere. We have traveled to Ethiopia and the food here is authentic and reminded us of our great memories of our travels. We had the pleasure of first eating at Enat and then using them for catering an event at our school. The owner is so easy to work with, generous and thoughtful. Go to Enat! You'll be so glad you did.

I still love this place but have to drop a star as it's been discovered and the service has gotten terribly slow. Even on a Monday night they're relatively full and it's just the same one girl waiting on all the tables. Now when I've been in on weekends, we still have the same waitress every time. She's very sweet, but they really need to hire a couple more servers. We were one of two tables there on a Monday night when we arrived just before 5:30, and it still took well over a half hour to get our food. Thankfully it's so good it's worth the wait, but we've definitely been coming less because we don't feel like we're being taken care of properly.

Here's why: - Fantastic food - Extensive menu - Friendly staff- very accommodating - Full bar - For the quantity that they give you, you'll be wondering why you aren't having to pay more for it I opted for the vegetarian platter ($12) and asked for extra injera. For two people I was skeptical that it would be enough food, but I was stuffed full after I was finished. Excellently seasoned vegetables that were bursting with flavor, and the potatoes had a little extra kick to it. I've been coming here for a while now (neglected to write a review), but I will always come back because the food is excellent!
