"Engine Room is the place you want for an easy dinner. Grab a spot at the bar or a hightop on the patio and order the Randy’s Double Stack—it’s like a Big Mac made with local beef and american cheese, and it’s the best burger we’ve had in ages. The rotisserie chicken melt with smokey-sweet bourbon BBQ sauce is also good. We highly recommend diving into the deep and ever-changing draft list too—anything from Connecticut-based Fox Farms is what you’re looking for. Oh, and the restaurant also happens to be in the cool renovated building where they used to make engines for boats. Overpriced For Quality Visited on Memorial Day Sunday - busy enough but we got seated fairly quickly. The wait staff was fine, if not particularly friendly or quick. The ambiance is perfect - lovely interior, thoughtful design touches, and the live music outside was solid. The issue, however, is the food. It's pricey and the quality does *not* match the price. The Cowboy Dip was bad, as were the Deviled Eggs (presentation was great for both, flavor was not). I was more hopeful for our entrees: I had the Red Wine Short Ribs, wife had a chicken burger. She liked hers a lot, which is a win. Mine looked great - again, they kill it on presentation - but the mashed potatoes desperately needed salt and garlic, while the Short Ribs were woefully bland. We spent $100 for one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a long time.

Went for a late dinner and was able to get seated quickly. Was a bit loud at first but quieted down closer to closing time. There’s a decent selection of food on the menu and we were happy with pretty much everything. It’s standard American fare and the food was solid. I loved the chicken burger (had to substitute for fried chicken). The onion rings were delicious. French onion soup was just a tad bit underwhelming but I appreciated that it wasn’t super salty. Was a bit silly of us to order the French onion soup with the French dip burger as the dip is essentially the soup.

Stopped by for a Sunday brunch - good food and a good atmosphere. My husband ordered the Benedict and I ordered the breakfast sandwich - both were delicious!! Our server was wonderful! We will definitely be back when in the area!

Came here randomly on a cold February, 🦋 parking on site: but it’s a small parking in front…All the spots were taken Sadly when we came, so have to find street parking 🦋 historical place: definitely read the story : it was former engine company 🦋 open space - you can watch how they grind the meat and make the burgers 🦋 got the Carolina hush puppies - they were good 🦋 the Mac and cheese was sold out… so didn’t try it… not sure how 🦋 got the burgers - it was alright…mine was the mushroom one, it needed something more, something was missing. -mushroom Mae burger -chipotle chicken burger was alright as well Overall staff were friendly and it’s a nice place.

This place was recommended by a friend, and I'm glad I went. Really cool atmosphere with some history. Fully stocked bar. I'm a rum gal and they had an appropriate selection including a 14yr. The food; shared some hush puppies. Now, I've never been a die hard fan of them but the ER changed my mind. I'd eat 20lbs of their hush puppies and their smooth butter. No gritty texture, smooth and flavorful interior with a crisp brown exterior. I settled with the French dip burger. Cooked to perfection and the dip I can only explain as a French onion soup type which was delicious. Paired with their truffle fries which were homemade and crispy. This was a great chest meal. If I'm ever back in this area, this will be my go-to spot, plus I want to try more. Highly recommend.

Google
It looks like such a tiny little spot from the front but when you walk in the cozy but busy atmosphere catches you right away. I love how they kept the original charm of the building and the bar area makes you want to stay with friends all night. The large booths are awesome and the drinks and food are top notch. I love how their menu rotates but I hope the mussels never never go away. I started with a whiskey with mussels and I could have ended the night there. The flavor at the bottom of the pot was to die for and the fresh bread that came on top just added extra to an already perfect appetizer. We're definitely making this a usual spot.

Google
Very friendly, The bartender Noah was super with making suggestions on what to eat and things to do. Great selection of Adult beverages, beer, wine and cocktails. Great menu selections reasonably priced.

Google
Food was good. I bought the hangover burger for about $18. Taste was good but wish it was slightly bigger. They do load up on the fries on the side. My wife got the half off avocado which was different than your usual avocado toast, so that was unique. We also got the maple waffle milkshake which is a must try. Overall spent about $60 on a Sunday afternoon and was seated relatively quickly. The vibe is very rustic which my wife loved

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere .. we eat here frequently .. faster service sitting at the bar ... sometimes it's a hit or miss sitting at the high tops over all great experience every time

Yelp
Ladies & gentlemen... starts your engine!! Yet another great eatery in the beloved town of Mystic. As one could venture a guess, their name comes from their current space which was a Marine Engine building. With their lovely views of mystical, their incredibly charming & rustic ambience paired with a great menu, Engine Room is always on my list of places to visit on my trips to Mystic. Highly recommend the burger.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink before reservations at another restaurant and stumbled into a great happy hour! The deviled eggs were superb! Also tried the pimento peppers. Will be back for a burger as they looked great! Love the interior!!

Yelp
Engine, Engine number 9 on the NY transit line. If your train falls off the track... LET IT GO! The engine room was a fail for me. I should have known right from the moment I picked this as our Saturday night dinner spot when the reservation link did not allow you to change the number of guests in your party to make a reservation! But I was persistent and called. The hostess was not very helpful as she told me she could not get us in at 4:30 as requested but just walk in- they leave walk in tables available. As I continued to alert her of the reservation website issue she finally relented and told me she had availability for 5! Why didn't she start off with that?! We get to the restaurant and the hostess station is packed. I asked my family to mull outside (up against a wall- out of the way) while I check in. It took a good 5 minutes to speak to someone and in the meanwhile my family was getting hassled about being in that area. Where are they to go? The hostess station was jammed with people and servers were walking in and out with food and drinks. This was the best option. What took so long at the hostess station? It's 5pm on Saturday and they are still taking calls instead of seating people. We are seated and our waitress was nice enough. My one complaint about her... When I place my order and then ask for a specific side of something (a condiment) she should immediately alert you if they do not have it. I would have changed my order based on this. But she didn't. They don't have blue cheese dressing here. The kids meals were a decent sized portion. No complaints from the 13 year old with chicken fingers and fries. The 3 year old did not like his mac and cheese. I will stick up for ER here and state it was good mac and cheese. it was my saving grace as thats what I ate when my meal fell flat. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It stated it is served with 'creamy cole slaw.' I am not sure who wrote the menu or who designed the recipe for their coleslaw but somebody needs a dictionary and learn the definition of creamy. It was DRY. No liquid what so ever, not even at the bottom of the cup! I do not spit food out, but I took my first bit and I had to spit it out. I felt like I licked the bottom of the produce bin at the grocery store. Awful. The sandwich was ok, luckily they did have crumbled blue cheese so that saved the flavor. My husband said his half rotisserie chicken was fine, the sides were the best part of his meal. Ohh and I ordered a side of onions rings. I got the first onion ring on the top of the tower. it was fine. I then had one a little lower and again I found myself spitting out food! It was pure MUSH! Disgusting. A drink... The waitress said she could make me something fruity and she asked so i said rum. She returned and said the bartender has a strawberry vodka and she can do something with that. I said sure. She delivered a drink (see photo) that was like biting into a lime! It was awful. She checked in and said let me hit it with a splash. Took the drink, returned it a totally different color (purplish) and it was worse! HOW CAN THIS BE? I didn't drink it. Overall I felt like I wasted money.

Yelp
Rating: 3.5 My burger was $18 which felt overpriced considering it was not that big. They also did not do any of the requests that I had, like having no onions, no bacon, and extra ketchup. Service was fine and we were sat quickly because we came early. My friend gave a five star because she got a happy hour burger which felt like a better deal- $6 for a smashburger. The mac & cheese was good, and the fries were too. Overall, fine but not fantastic.

Yelp
Ok, I get it. It's Mystic. We were there the day after Christmas. Engine Room professes to be a good place for burgers, beer, and whiskey. My husband had the whole chicken which was really overcooked. It looked it, too. My son had the Mae burger - cheese and mushrooms were excellent. Burger was overcooked. My fish and chips - one piece was perfect. The other was overcooked. Everyone's French fries were overcooked and inconsistently seasoned. Beer was good. Parking tip: the restaurant has two small lots, one right in front of the restaurant. If they are full and there's no street parking, continue up Church Street to the Catholic Church. Make a donation to support their rebuilding fund - totally nice. Parking at the LAZ lot is really expensive, so do your part to respect the church's hospitality. Given that it is Mystic & it wasn't crazy overpriced, 3 stars.

Yelp
Hands-down most dog-friendly place to grab a bite to eat in Mystic. Came here w/ family and dog while we were visiting Mystic, CT for the first time. We got seated outside, and I ordered a drink -- "Isla del Coco", tropically spiced & toasty coconut. Going into it, here's the description: "Coconut washed Four Roses bourbon, house made coconut falernum, lemongrass & toasted coconut syrup, lime juice & coconut oolong ice cube". How was it really? Pretty spot-on. I really liked it. There was a lot of the coconut taste so that was accurate. Even the ice cubes were coconut flavored, so even when there was nothing left, the ice melted and it tasted like coconut water which was pretty cool. I'd recommend it. Food-wise, I got the Mushroom Mae Burger and I believe rest of table got Grass-fed Burger and Fried Chicken Burger. I got mine with fries. The burger and fries were both pretty awesome. One of better burgers I have tried. I'd rate the burger itself 4.5/5. Fries were pretty good too. All in all, cool spot to visit in Mystic. It's going down in my books as the #1 dog-friendly burger/food joint in Mystic. Cheers y'all!

Yelp
Sad day when the Happy Hour burger goes from fresh to the Sysco truck. Taste was mediocre at best.

Yelp
So, you know how road trips with a 3-year-old can feel like you're trying to survive a hostage situation with snacks? Yeah, that was us driving back from Newport. Then we stumbled upon The Engine Room in Mystic, and let me tell you, it was like finding an oasis in the middle of a tantrum desert. First off, the vibe. Picture this: you walk in, and it's like you've been transported into this old factory--because, surprise, it used to be one! The place is a Marine Engine Building, and they've done it up real nice. You half expect a grizzled old sailor to be in the corner, sipping a bourbon and spinning yarns about "the one that got away." We got there right when they opened, so it was just us and the friendly staff, who seemed genuinely happy to see people, which is refreshing. But let's talk about the real reason you're here: the food. My wife--who's basically a burger connoisseur at this point--ordered the Mushroom Mae Burger. And out of nowhere, she drops this bomb: "This is the best burger I've ever had." Boom. Just like that. Apparently, the crust on the patty was seasoned by the gods themselves, and the mushrooms were so good they made a mushroom hater a believer. So yeah, safe to say it was a win. We also got the Cowboy Dip and the Carolina Hush Puppies. Now, these Hush Puppies? Straight-up star of the show. The Cowboy Dip, though--it's like the hype man at a comedy show. You think it's just gonna hang out in the background, but then it surprises you with this cold cream cheese jalapeño action that would be right at home on a bagel. Not what we expected, but we weren't mad about it. For the main event, I went with the Fish Sandwich. The cornmeal batter on that fish? Crunchy perfection. And underneath? Flaky goodness. Throw in some slaw and tartar sauce that could make a grown man cry, and you've got yourself a winner. Now, let's talk kids' menu. It's not your usual chicken nugget fare. Our 3-year-old, who's got a more sophisticated palate than I did at 25, went with the Avocado Toast. Yeah, we're raising a little hipster. The toast was on point, but the crust was a bit too crunchy for those tiny teeth, so we had to go full surgeon mode and extract the soft bits. Still, she loved it, and I'm not about to argue with a toddler who just had avocado. Oh, and pro tip: Get all the sauces. Seriously. It's like a sauce flight. The smoked ranch and chipotle were the standouts, but honestly, they're all worth a try. Bottom line? The Engine Room is a solid stop. If you're cruising through Mystic and need to refuel--figuratively and literally--this place is a no-brainer.

Yelp
Shut the front door, one of the best restaurants in Mystic! There are a lot of good and popular restaurants in Mystic, but if you're looking for a more affordable one with DELICIOUS food, this is the place to go! It is the perfect farm to table restaurant and uses all locally grown proteins, vegetables, fruits, and diary. Not to mention, homemade everything. They have such a large space with both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a bar you can sit at for drinks and a bar where you can oversee their open kitchen. I personally love the concept of an open kitchen and think it makes the quality of food more consistent. In this open kitchen you can see them cooking and taking care of their full sized rotisserie chickens! You heard me right, they are known not only for their burgers, but for their homemade rotisserie chickens. There were so many yummy sounding things on the menu so we got a bunch to share family style. Nana's focaccia bread, baked mac n cheese, half bird dinner combo w/ mac and potato salad, onion rings, and the grass fed burger. My personal favorite was the baked mac n cheese! A must have. I also enjoyed the half bird, mac salad, and grass fed burger. I could have done without the onion rings, they needed a bit more salt/flavor but the sauces that came with it added a little. The grass fed burger was really good! I have never had a burger like that before. It had a lot of different concepts that flowed well and complimented each other. Shout out to our server Cat, she was literally amazing! Such a sweet person and explained the whole menu to us. I will definitely be taking people back here when they visit!

Christian C.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night with a friend and the restaurant was packed but we were able to get seated at the bar. The chicken burger here is unreal, a must get. The fries were solid too. We shared the wings and those were fall off the bone. I've also ordered the mushroom Mae before, which was another great order but not as good as the chicken burger.

Meggi M.

Yelp
Pinot Grigio is pink. Cobb salad comes dismantled on a bed of lettuce and corn bread was burnt. My son's Mac and cheese had no taste. Really don't understand the reviews on this place. Really disappointed. Also the enclosed porch is cold. No heat lamps.

Patty N.

Yelp
Service was fast and friendly. Cocktails were strong and delicious. Food (burgers, maple milkshake -!: pulled pork) were all very good. Parking is very tough. Can get loud when crowded.

Yelp
Engine Room is a New American gastropub that opened in Mystic, Connecticut in December 2013. It was founded by restaurateurs Dan Meiser and James Wayman. A native of Manchester, Meiser began his culinary career working at Trumbull Kitchen in Hartford. He later enrolled at the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan, graduating first in his class. After graduation, Meiser worked under the guidance of world-renowned chef Daniel Boulud. He later returned to Connecticut and worked at a number of different restaurants. Meiser opened his first restaurant, Firebox, in Hartford in 2007. After joining forces with executive chef Wayman, they opened the Oyster Club in Mystic in 2011. Following its success, the two partners decided to open a sister restaurant (with the assistance of executive chef Chris Vanasse) in the old Lathrop Marine Engine building on the banks of the Mystic River. Like Oyster Club, Engine Room was also met with rave reviews. The menu features 16 craft beers of draught, the area's largest bourbon selection, craft cocktails, a full wine list, and locally-sourced American comfort food. My family and I recently dined at Engine Room while we were passing through Mystic. I had previously visited the restaurant and enjoyed it, but this was the first visit for the rest of my family. I totally love how the owners beautifully restored the historic building and preserved a lot of the industrial aesthetic. Our visit happened to be on a Monday and they have special "Beer & Burger Special" only on Mondays. I decided to order it, which consisted of a "Chicken Pesto Burger" (single grass-fed beef patty with chicken cutlet Milanese, basil pesto, mozzarella, roasted red peppers & tomato topped with a lemon-caper mayor on a brioche) with Fries and a draught pour of Fox Farm Brewery's "Roam: Citra" (Pale Ale). My meal was totally delicious! My wife ordered the "Chipotle Chicken Sandwich" (crispy fried chicken breast, smoked ranch, dill pickles, lettuce & spicy chipotle hot sauce) with Fries and the "Clarified Watermelon Punch" (The Lab's Rum blend, cucumber, green peppercorn, spearmint, honey, watermelon, lime & sparkling water clarified with whole milk) to drink. Our older son had the "Chicken Tenders & Fries" (fried, house breaded chicken tenders served w/ fries) and our younger son had the "Kids Mac n' Cheese" (pasta tossed in housemate cheese sauce). Everyone was very happy with their choices and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our experience at Engine Room and hope to return again!

Ashlee F.

Yelp
At 11ish am we got a table right away. I got the grass fed burger with gluten-free bun. Husband got a fish sandwich. We both got fries. Burger was great, it had flavor! Gf bun was really good. Fish sandwich was really good. Pickles were delicious. Fries we okay; kinda cold and not crispy. Would try something else. Like the place, it was cute for a date and the brick was really nice ambiance. Not too loud either.

Desiree D.

Yelp
i absolutely loved the mussels in wine sauce. the ceviche was spicy, but amazing. both of these can be apps to share or an entree. theyre both priced very reasonably. engine room has a great selection of beer too! there will be a wait, this place gets packed, but thankfully they have outdoor seating too.

Irene G.

Yelp
The staff made us feel at home, comfortable. I had a cocktail here that I still have been trying to reproduce it was so delicious, called Open Sesame. My fish sandwich was delicious, so were the hush puppies and onion rings. Plus we enjoyed watch the sunset.

Felicia P.

Yelp
We had a friend visiting so we went to down to downtown Mystic. After poking around the shops which we great, we ended up at the engine room for lunch. It was a beautiful October day so we sat on the outside deck. Espresso and pumpkin martinis were yummy. My friend and I had the fish sandwich and my hubby had a burger. Food was delicious and our server was great. Recommend this place for a good lunch.

Mark R.

Yelp
Great vibe, very good food and fun menu. Highlighting locally sources ingredients is always a plus for me. Great whiskey/bourbon list and they properly have the large cube. Definitely worth a visit and I hope to come back again.

Shawn K.

Yelp
Wow this place is phenomenal! Clean, rustic, with an open floor plan. The drinks were great, the staff is excellent being very attentive and friendly. The cobb salad might be the best ive ever had. The creative and fun dessert menu had us ordering a twix and a fruity pebble milkshake! A perfect way to end your dinner! Will 100% be back and tell our freinds & fam to check it out as well!

Michael W.

Yelp
Nice bar with a large bourbon selection. You can even buy bottles of their single barrel picks! Most prices for a pour are very reasonable. Great happy hour specials. Bartenders were excellent and accommodating. Would return to try more food since we only got apps this visit.

Stefanie D.

Yelp
My first visit was a Sunday brunch. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. We started with a Bloody Mary and the cornbread. The Bloody Mary was small, and mostly mix. The cornbread was not impressive in presentation, not warm, and in fact had been over baked so you literally could not cut through half of it. It was rock hard so much so when we tried with a knife the force actually caused it to go shooting off the plate (embarrassing). Could not taste any maple in the butter. For our food we got the chicken and waffles and breakfast sandwich. Loved the chicken and waffles! A juicy piece of chicken, eggs cooked perfectly and the waffle was amazing! Good flavor and they lightly fry it, which was different but awesome. The breakfast sandwich was a disaster. First- they made it with no egg at all. We couldn't find our server who never checked back so we got a food runner to take it back. It has pastrami on it, and they were HUGE, really thick slices that were hard to bite and incredibly chewy. And there was so. Much. Meat. Even when we got the right sandwich with egg on it, it was dwarfed by meat and you couldn't taste it. It was too big to bite into and the whole sandwich ended up falling apart. However, the smashed potatoes well, smashed. So good. Our server was nothing special. She wasn't overly friendly but was not rude, but we really never saw her. A couple other things- they have no beverage menu that is not non alcoholic on the table so we didn't know if there were mocktail or coffee options. The chairs have rubber on the bottom and the floor is kind of like this rubber/stone mix so it was impossible so easily push a chair out or in. Almost tipped mine over. On the strength of the chicken and waffles I would come back to see how their dinner service goes!

Wendy T.

Yelp
Late lunch with a friend. Parking was a bit dicey but it's Mystic on a Saturday so it's to be expected. We were greeted and sat right away. The waitress came over with water and said she'd be right back, but it was a good 15 minutes before she came. We ordered drinks and food. The drinks came right away so that was great. But the food was probably another 30. We ordered the fish and chips and a burger and put in a to-go. She said she'd put it in when our food came out so the timing was good. Perfect- or so we thought. The fish and chips were crispy and fresh. The breading was well seasoned, golden brown and delicious. It slightly fell off the fish with some bites but the fish itself was so well done also. The spicy tartar sauce was a very pleasant surprise. We also loved the selection of beers and ciders. It's the most I've seen in any one location that actually sound good. When we were finished we had to flag her down for the check and a box and I asked if my to-go order was ready. She said that she didn't put it in, she'll do it now so I'll have to wait 10-15 minutes. We waited, but then she forgot the box so we had to wait again. Total time there was almost 2 hours. The place seems great, popular, and the food was really well done and priced. But the service left more to be desired.

Josh I.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in the Mystic area. The service is consistently top notch, most servers don't need to write down your order but they have never missed anything for me. Their recommendations are always helpful and they seem genuinely happy to give them. The bar staff are energetic and engaging. For lunch today we started with the Cowboy Dip, which is candied jalapeño cream cheese dip with house made tortilla chips, served warm. Excellent portion for anywhere from 2-4 people. My wife got the half Rotisserie Chicken with a side of macaroni salad and fries, I got the Grass Fed burger with a side of blue cheese, and we finished with the Mint Chocolate Brownie shake. The extra blue cheese was served as both a cup of crumbles and as a slice, which apparently comes locally from the Mystic Cheese Co. It was so soft and tasty, I ended up adding the whole slice to the burger and still sprinkling some extra crumbles on each bite. The apple butter on the burger was an amazing contrast of sweetness, although I could have used more of that. I wanted the apple butter in every bite but it was only every 4-5 bites maybe. So much daylight comes in the windows during the day, it's a really nice atmosphere with the dark wooden walls and the bright daylight streaming in. I'll be back again and again.

John B.

Yelp
Everything was terrific, however I do not understand why children with inattentive parents are seated in the bar. They bring bags of toys and they are loud. Most unpleasant

Carol L.

Yelp
Yum. This friendly casual place was just the ticket for three friends getting together from MA and Stonington. The atmosphere is low frills and laid back. My friend says it's one of the few places that takes reservations during the busy summer season. Friend 1 asked for something of her own creation, a cheeseburger on top of salad greens, and the server said "of course!" without hesitating a beat. A sign of great service! Friend 2 had a chopped salad which was good but not very chopped (she had to cut everything in order to eat it. I had a special burger after quizzing the server about the toppings, which she answered patiently and with good cheer. The burger and accompanying fries were quite tasty. Friendly and efficient staff, I would go back.

Janelly T.

Yelp
Came by with a few friends just for beer. As always the place was packed. We sat at the bar. Bartenders as usual were great. I love their selection of draft beers. Great prices too. They are the only restaurant in the area with happy hour menu every day!! Yes you read it right. Happy Hour Menu Everyday!!! Come and enjoy their delicious food. And great ambiance.

Auryana E.

Yelp
It was ok Food was pretty bland like I could eat it but I wouldn't come back again for it The corn bread was really good specifically with the butter, it was kinda dry without it The shake was very small for the price But overall the staff was super friendly and that was the best part

Shawna M.

Yelp
The Engine Room is awesome! The staff is super nice and accommodating! Food was ok. I ordered a burger and it was cooked just right but it was just ok nothing to call home about. Next time if I'm in the area I will go back and I'll order the tomahawk steak because I heard it's amazing! The other downside to the restaurant is the parking. We had to park around the block and walk to the restaurant.

Menghai T.

Yelp
I got the grass fed burger. It came with bacon, caramelized onions, and cheese. It was cooked to a perfect medium and tasted good. The potato salad was not that good. Service was mixed at times when checking on the table. At the end I got a pumpkin spice milkshake and, that was absolutely phenomenal. Lighting was very dark inside. Overall it's a good restaurant. 6.8/10

Kerri L.

Yelp
The Engine Room is a quick walk from the shops on busy West Main St and East Main St in downtown Mystic. Our attentive server, Emily, went above and beyond making sure our party of three was well taken care of. Even though she had several other tables, she made us feel like we were her only customers. Though new to this restaurant, she confidently gave food and drink suggestions like she's been there forever. I got the loaded potato soup and the spinach salad with a specialty lemonade cocktail. No detail was overlooked... very utilitarian, yet charming establishment with reasonable prices, a nice variety of food, and excellent service!

Yelp
Seems to be a popular place. We had lunch there when it was not busy. I had the May hamburger that was overwhelmed with cheese, you could not taste the meat. The French fries were soggy, someone needs to raise the temperature of the oil they cook the fries in. Nice ambiance with an industrial feel. Service was good I think it was overpriced for what we got.

Yelp
Stoped by Mystic Connecticut and decided to visit the Engine Room after seeing all their good reviews. Would have to say it's definitely worth the hype. There is parking in both the front and back of the restaurant however on the day that we went they were all full so we had to park on the streets. It was a nice sunny day so we sat outside. We decided to order the chicken wings for appetizers which were delicious. I got the fish and chips and my boyfriend got the steak and fries. Both were very good! Service was decent however we did have to wait a while for the server to come take our order.

Yelp
Saw ads about huge steaks and lots of hype. Drove and hour to find zero parking. It's Mystic so expected. Menu was limited at best, asked served about the big steaks. She advised., only Fridays and we run out fast. Ok, ordered a double patty burger. It's came out and thought it was a joke. Smaller than a Big Mac. I was still hungry so ordered a dessert to split with my wife. It was supposed to be apple cake . It was so dry and tasteless I left it alone. Maybe ok place to have a drink, don't waste your time eating there.

Yelp
Really liked Engine Room! We made a res for a Saturday lunch easily on Reddit. We had gotten a filling breakfast earlier so we decided to split the Mushroom Mae Burger with mac salad and a side order of Onion Rings. We appreciated that they had already split the burger and mac salad in half for us, rather than us having to struggle with cutting it. The burger was perfectly cooked and came with a delicious creamy cheesy mushroom sauce. Mac salad as good too but I'd probably try the fries next time. Onion rings were delicious!! So crispy and a big portion for $7 too. Not the biggest fan of the sauce it came with and would've preferred a garlic mayo instead. Wish we could have gotten the onion rings as a side to the burger though.

Yelp
I ordered a chicken sandwich and had a huge bone in it on my first bite Server didn't seem to care and brought me a new meal won't go back there

Yelp
Food was excellent Ambiance was cool with a lot of nods to the building's history. Kid-friendly with great, unique options aside from the normal chicken nugget fare - my two year old enjoyed the avocado toast! Try the Cowboy dip!

Yelp
First time back here since our last visit in 2019 and absolutely still one of my favorite burgers ever! The Mushroom Mae featuring Mystic Cheese CO's famous Melinda Mae cheese (similar to a creamy brie), mushrooms and double patty. It's absolute perfection! You also have to order the hush puppies, they're such a hit and even featured on their happy hour menu. I would definitely be happy ordering these alone. We ended up getting here during HH and ordered some Gin & Tonics which were very well priced and flavorful! Engine Room is definitely a must visit whenever we're in Mystic.

Yelp
Waitstaff/bartender all very nice, inviting and welcoming. The food was delicious! The timing of the meal delivery was amazingly quick! Dogs are allowed. Will definitely come back and highly recommend to family and friends!

Yelp
Great happy hour and the hot dog at happy hour was delicious. I was able to hit all of their sister restaurants as well and Engine room had the earliest happy hour during the week.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots to hit up while I'm in Mystic. This trip we sat near the Chef's Table which was fun and a unique experience! We ventured out of the norm and tried a few new dishes including the brussels and the chicken burger. Both were phenomenal. I just wish the brussels were a little larger portion for the price of the all. Drinks were also very good and everything came quickly even though the place was packed. The server was on top of it. Also the sauce flight is a must!

Yelp
Do you want a delicious American meal with interesting flavor combinations and solid preparation? Then go to the Engine Room. Their specials are exciting, their burgers always hit the spot, and they always seem to be busy because they're one of the best eateries in the area. While most times I feel like taking a nap afterwards (and the low light dining room usually doesn't aid that feeling), it's well worth it. Make a stop and enjoy your meal- I find myself there at least once a month and it always brings a smile to my face.

Yelp
Happened upon the Engine Room today on a day trip in Mystic. WOW! Started with the Hush Puppies and it only got better. Three of us had the chicken sandwiches with house made Chipotle sauce and one had the chicken burger with avacado and habernero and lime sauce. Amazing! Service was great and with a smile. Will definitely return.

Yelp
The Engine Room is one of my favorite restaurants in the area to grab a casual meal with friends. Our waitress was so helpful in helping us pick our drinks, and she provided really good service throughout the meal. We shared an order of Hush Puppies, which are always a hit, and they were just as good as I remember. I also got my go-to burger (Hot Fire) which has the perfect spice level. It is served with salad or fries, and I ordered fries (treat yourself!). They were perfectly cooked and salted. Their draft list is rotating with local brews, so I always love checking out what's on tap! I ultimately decided on a can this time, but some of their upcoming brews look great.

Loved the creative cuisine and cocktail menu!! Local, fresh, high quality ingredients, and friendly and attentive service!

Yelp
What a great spot, clearly the Locals know all about it. Super friendly Servers, fun atmosphere, good bar and big local beer selection. That pasta is fresh made, their sauces and condiments are scratch kitchen. Inside and outside seating options. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
We visited Engine Room last month to give my boyfriend the quintessential Mystic experience. He loved it and a month later, he's still talking about it. I got the fried fish sandwich and he got the chipotle chicken sandwich and we both left feeling more than satisfied. The draft list was unique and my midwest boy was very, very happy. Definitely recommend stopping by to see such a cool building with a historical twist, have great drinks, and spend time with the crew over at Engine Room!

Yelp
Tonight's fish and chips were spectacular! Regretfully, my Bloody Mary was the worst I've ever tasted! At the time I ordered , I asked about whether the Bloody Mary mix was spicy. My waitress said no, so I asked for horseradish and worsheshire sauce , but I was told the bar didn't have worsheshire sauce, but may have horseradish which she said she would bring to me. I waited 25 minutes before getting up and asking for it from the bartender. I was told it was on its way, but didn't get it for another 15 minutes, so I returned to the bartender. I asked for it again and also asked if she had Worcestershire sauce behind the bar which she said yes. Totally the opposite of what the waitress said! It was terrible enough to find the need to craft a mix that was acceptable, but when the waitress couldn't be bothered to get what every bar has at their disposal, I became so enraged! Lazy, dismissive and presumptuous to think I would drink such a horrible drink without any effort on her part to correct the situation. When I finally got what I asked for, the waitress said she wasn't feeling well. I told her I didn't want to her reasons, but she followed me back to my table from the bar and insisted to talk to me even after telling her I didn't want to speak to her. Erin, the manager, came to the table and asked if everything was alright. As soon I I started to explain the inhospitable and horrific treatment, she was kurt and said she knew of the situation and that someone else would take care of us. She wasn't interested in my perspective on the situation or to apologize for the maltreatment. There are many restaurants out there that make sure you are pleased while dining, but not this place! Don't think this place cares about its customers because they don't!
