Place could be really good, but we happened to be in town at the same time a concert was going on at the State Fair. Restaurant was not prepared for it with staff, waited 20 minutes for a table with majority of tables in restaurant open, then waited over an hour for our food. Pickles were great, entrees could have been good but poor execution from the kitchen led to them being below average. Beer was good. As mentioned, concept was better than expected but execution was very poor. Didn't look like they even had a manager on the floor.

Google
Excellent food and excellent service! I stayed in the SpringHill hotel next door and walked over for an early dinner. I got a seat immediately and food was out fast. My burger, fries and mac & cheese were all fantastic at a reasonable price.

Google
Great place to eat, been many times. Cheese curds are a must EVERY time. Their ranch is delicious! Had the Nashville hot chicken strip horseshoe on this visit because of Bly's recommendation. He was spot on! (And an excellent server all-around.) Cheese sauce was perfect. Great place for a horseshoe! Reuben was tender and had great flavor.

Meghann Schwartz

Google
This is a really nice farm to table microbrew right by Scheels. They are known for their steaks clearly, but since it was lunch when we went I got the black and blue salad (blue cheese and steak salad) and my husband got a burger. We both enjoyed what we had. The only thing that could have been better was it took a while to get our food and when I went to the bathroom they had two big groups (30+ in each group) that clearly ordered right about the same time as us--wish they would have told us that.

Google
Went there tonight with my boyfriend for dinner. Brody had Amazing recommendations and I ended up with a top tier steak! Service and environment are great! Definitely will be back

Robert Hinrichsen

Google
The cheese curds are amazing and the nashville hot horseshoe did not disappoint. The beer selection is great. Highly recommend

Google
Burger of the day was delicious. This was my second visit in 9 years. In December 2015, I was not impressed. However, today was much better. I tried 5 different brews and was satisfied with the options. It was Black Friday so the service was slow. But we had a good time as a family of 4+Gma. I’ll be back to try the Horseshoe.

Google
My boyfriend and I went here tonight for our anniversary and had such a great wonderful evening! Brody was our server and he was amazing! We will be coming back.

Yelp
We love coming here when we're in town!! One of my favorite places in Springfield. I'll admit, I've only ever had their Comfort Bowl or Horseshoe- because they do them so well!! Hard to want to try something else. They have an amazing cheese, crispy fries, and great meats. We also love trying the fried pickles or onion rings. Their beer batter is amazing on anything. They have a great selection of home brewed beers and seltzers. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have a neat view of the brewing area. The service is always quick and I know they're good for big groups.

Yelp
This would have been our second visit to this establishment this time we walked out. The hostess said they seat by servers it's obvious they had none because of empty tables total of 3 tables seated and 2 people at the bar. They had 3 group people waiting waiting before us and this is a Sunday afternoon. She also stated that the kitchen was overwhelmed. To me if the front of the house is having issues along with the back the quality of Food will not be high quality * the picture is from our first visit*

Yelp
I walked in on a beautiful Sunday early afternoon, and sat down at the bar for at least 15 min not being acknowledged. And asked for a menu which she gave me and then walked off and I didn't see her for another five minutes so I took off. Looks like the bartender was pretty much covering the entire dining room.

Yelp
Stopped by on our way to Chicago for lunch because they allow pets on their patio. The beers were good and the service was great- very friendly and attentive- thanks Bly! My black bean burger was tasty although the presentation left something to be desired. The fries weren't super hot, maybe made before the burger then spent some time under the heat lamp. My husband had the farmer burger and said it was an 8/10.

Yelp
This is an out of the way place unless you're going to Scheels but it worthwhile. The Black and Blue salad was fresh and just the right amount for lunch. The other food passing by on the way to other tables looked great

Yelp
They have a strong beer line up as well as some guest taps and their brew is excellent. Had a delicious Nashville hot chicken salad w blue cheese dressing. Great vibes, bartender was friendly what more can you ask for? Oh the whisky list is killer!!

Maggie F.

Yelp
The food was the best!! The pretzels were the best pretzels!! They are very nice here!! They always are very good with greeting your order!! The restaurant is very cool and is one of my places ever to be!!!! The restaurant is very clean as well!!

Yelp
Nice lunch spot on our way to Madison. Very upscale for a brewery! But not fussy or stuffy for sure. I had the Nashville grilled chicken salad and it was fantastic. My husband liked his burger too. The menu is very diverse with something for everyone. The service was excellent. I highly recommend!!
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
The menu is well balanced and offers a lot of good looking choices. My wife had the pony shoe with pulled pork and it tasted great. I had the tenderloin sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes. Both were excellent. Also, tried a flight. All were good but really enjoyed the coffee stout. Plenty of seating inside and some out. Nice quiet place for lunch right along the highway. Our server was great and drinks and food came out quickly.

Yelp
Wow! What an amazing brewery/restaurant to visit! I am from the Blono/Lincoln area and came down with my hubby for dinner twice in a week just to enjoy this flatbread again! Service is so good, friendly staff and delicious beer. Try the Coffee Stout! Yum yum yum

Yelp
Service was amazing, food was excellent! Highly recommend the fried pickles! The honey soy rice bowl was surprisingly great (did not expect that from this type of restaurant) and the fries were delicious!

Yelp
Engrained Brewing is brewery #240 for me. It's right next to Springhill Suites and there is plenty of parking. It was retry empty at 4pm on a Friday, which kind of surprised me. The blackberry IPA was good. Very light blackberry aroma and flavor. Brazilian Bombshell was a really good beer. This had a nice balance of hops and fruit. I grabbed a growler of this for later. The Irish Red Ale of course I ordered in honor of SWPFTD. The good news is she is traveling with me next weekend to Kalispell so she can try her favorite beer styles for herself. This was a good red but actually had a bit of a coffee note to it. Unusual in a red but it worked for me. The Fox Moon oatmeal stout was pretty darn good. "F-O-X" Ok, the first person reading this to respond with what movie that reference is from earns a free beer. If you are near me I'll meet up with you and buy it personally, if not I'll arrange for a beer for you at the microbrewery of your choice! This was a little chocolatey on the nose with a good mouthfeel and flavor. I wasn't really hungry yet but felt like I should have something to go with the beers. Yeah, I'm in cheese curb country I think so that's what I went with. It really didn't seem to be the healthiest choice but that's why I bought a rower and do so many hikes. The cheese curds were good but on the other hand I've never had "bad" cheese curds. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you!

Yelp
Waitress I had was very very friendly and attentive. It was a farm to table type place and was very clean. Very delicious food. I got the meatloaf. I don't drink so I can't say on their brews. Plenty of parking. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Yelp
The food was outstanding, the beer was delicious and the service (Zack) was exceptional?

Yelp
A cool local brewery is in Springfield better than expected. Engrained is a pretty big brewery with a stand alone building next to a hotel. It's not just beer they have here, but food too. Food isn't just the typical stuff like chips and crap. They have actual real food and many healthy options. Convenient for travelers going by here. It's located next to the Springhill Suites. Those staying there will be able to get here in a few minutes by a fast walk. Kind of looks like a corporate place like BJ's. Maybe, but it's very much just local. Has quite a few beers. It's about $6 a pint. Best one is the Brombier Blackberry Lager. This is a Munich Helles and is light and smooth. Of course we had to get food. We got the Onion Rings. It's about $7 for a basket. This is one of the many food options that can be made vegan. On the menu it lists them all. These were battered with German lager. As for the rest of the food, it gets expensive. They have burgers and more. Good beers. It has some nice prices on growlers. The food is much better than at an average brewery, and there's good options for vegans and vegetarians.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service either appears bar or quiet booth/tables. Great selection of beers.

Bret F.

Yelp
We came here last year for dinner and enjoyed the experience so much that we came back again this year while in town again. Once again, the food was really good. An excellent choice of beers and service was excellent. Skyler was our server and did a great job. If we return again next year, this will probably be one of our stops.

Mama S.

Yelp
Bly was a fantastic server! He took care of my family's needs and was really attentive about refills and our overall happiness with the meal. They have SUCH good horseshoes. Their cheese is made in-house and it's the bomb.com. The place wasn't too packed so we had a nice family setting.
google avatar

Kim M.

Yelp
Cute place and liked that the menu highlighted where they locally sourced ingredients. I had a Farmhand burger and my husband had the Ruben. Both were excellent. The cheese curds were wonderful . Service in bar area was a bit slow or I would have given them 5 stars. It was just the bartender covering a large busy area, so not totally his fault. Fun ambiance. We will be back!

Bella M.

Yelp
We waited over 1 hour for our food. Restaurant was not busy. Waiter never arrived and we were left with empty drinks for over 30 minutes. Completely ridiculous. Couple behind us waited over 1 1/2 hours for their food; turns out order was never turned in! Along with their order was wrong. Do not waste your time until they fix their customer service.

Yelp
I wish we lived closer or had more time to spend here, but it was just a quick stop while charging at a Tesla Super Charger across the street on the way to a family wedding. We sat at the bar and ordered immediately, because we knew we were in a rush. The poor bartender seemed to be the only person working on a Saturday to tend to the entire bar including pouring beers for the normal tables and delivering food to the quite packed bar patrons. I am always grateful for a place that does flights, and there were so many to sample, that we ended up getting 2 different flights. Not all of them were great, they were a little hit or miss, but I always like a good hefeweizen and there's did not disappoint. We also have to order the cheese curds if we see them on a menu (which is less likely in IL), and I'm very picky as a Wisconsin native, but I really liked them! They were super lightly breaded, and even though we accidentally ordered the large instead of the 1/2 order (bartender didn't even ask), we had no problem finishing them before we had to head out for the wedding. If I ever find myself back in this part of town, I would definitely come back.

Yelp
I am so glad that i found this restaurant! I had the best Smoked Salmon Flatbread!! q
google avatar

Sue B.

Yelp
Burger of the week and the meatloaf were a huge hit. Brussels sprouts were just OK. Lacking flavor and needed a few more minutes to get a nice char on them. Our server Colin was attentive and answered all our questions. The facility is brightly lit with natural light and has outdoor seating. The noise level was appropriate for the size of the place and time of evening. Beer selections are plentiful and should appeal to everyone.
google avatar

Melinda P.

Yelp
Food was good, beer was tasty. Service was good and ambiance was nice. Would have pretzels and fries again for sure but may try something else sandwich wise next time
google avatar

Dave T.

Yelp
Food ok. Music very very loud. Beer selection very standard. Nothing interesting for a brewery. Would not recommend.
google avatar

Haley C.

Yelp
Food wasn't that great for the price. My potatoes were still a little raw and there wasn't a lot of flavor. Service was fine but I don't think I'd come back or recommend this place.

Steve B.

Yelp
Good food, good service. Always good beer/cider. Convenient to Scheels and Interstate 72.
google avatar

Lynette M.

Yelp
Always delicious. They keep it fresh with special burgers and pork features. Our server, Cade, was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Cool place. We shared a flight and then each had a glass of our favorite beer. Next time we're in town we'll make time to eat there as well.

Michael C.

Yelp
this is such a nice place, small but comfy, good service, great bourbon and beer- I will definitely go back soon!

D V.

Yelp
A terrific dinner with fabulous food and a server that was exceptional. Hubby said his St. Louis style ribs were wonderful. I asked our server to just "bring me something of her choosing" and she delivered a harvest salad with gilled chicken that was absolutely perfect - filled with blue cheese crumbles, craisins, apple, pecans, and grilled chicken that was hot, most and very flavorful. 100% ! Oh yes - and the beers were wonderful; great selection along with a long list of bourbons and whiskeys.
google avatar

Beta H.

Yelp
Three of us-arrived at different times. Still served our drinks quickly. Food was delicious- fried fish, salmon flatbread and harvest salad- all fresh and tasty. The waitress Skyler was so efficient, kind and flexible. We loved our time at Engrained! Thank you.

Yelp
I had never eaten here before and the menu had a nice selection of various dishes. We ordered the "Cheese Curds" for starters . They're fresh Ropp Jersey Cheese Curds, Beer Battered with their German Lager, and Sriracha Ranch Sauce. I found these to be very tasty, but was a little disappointed that they were only warm when brought to the table. For my entree, I decided to try one of their charbroiled steaks. The menu stated that all of their steaks are 100% Black Angus, from local farms, pasture raised and hormone & antibiotic free. (I appreciate it when places provide you with this information.). I ordered their 12 oz ribeye, medium ($31.99), and for my two sides I chose Caesar salad and beer battered onion rings. Finally, to drink, coffee, black (TYVM). My Caesar salad came out first. The leaves were fresh and the dressing tasty. Approximately 10 minutes later the main entree arrived. My ribeye was cooked perfectly, and was tender, juicy, and delicious. The beer battered onion rings were excellent. The coffee was very good. Our server came by often to check on us, and was polite, courteous, and friendly. I was very pleased with the service and food. This is a solid 4 Star restaurant and highly recommend you give them a try.

Yelp
Stopped here on our ride home to Chicago from Kansas City and boy do we wish we lived closer!! Everything was excellent. Great service, and fantastic food and beer. Tasted a few beers, all were great but the Brazilian Bombshell was one I needed full pints of. A delicious and unique pale ale with some delicious fruity undertones. Such a top notch beer!! We started off with fried pickles, which were honestly some of the best we've had. Then we split a black and bleu salad. The steak was cooked perfectly, so succulent and flavorful. And delicious blue cheese dressing which we were told was house made! If not, we'd like to know where we can buy some. To top it off, we finished with the Hawaiian flatbread. The pork was delicious as was the crust. Overall such a pleasant experience, would love to make our way back here sometime!
google avatar

Eugene W.

Yelp
Service 5 stars, food 3 stars, value 1 star. Maybe the beer would have been good enough to add a star? Great location, lots of space, and incredible service. Food was average, but high price for small quantity Had burger and kids had pizza. Very plain and kids did not want to finish.

PJ M.

Yelp
We are from st louis and came to visit family, Zak was are server and did an awesome job! I got the comfort bowl and the pulled pork on it got could immediately taste the smoke. The potato cakes were amazing too. I did a flight and the maple old fashioned and they definitely did not disappoint!! We will absolutely be back! Thank Zak!

Yelp
Ring, ding, dong. Ring-a-ding-ding-ding-dong. Hey you, working over there, You better get up outta the back of the restaurant, And work your way up front, as there's people waiting there for you. So I got up and got my move on, got my groove on, Sat in the best place in the house, the B-O-O-T-H. In a brewery I go for a burger, so call me "Hamburglar" As I call my crew: one is purple, the others a clown. Don't even judge us, just chill as I robble robble this meal down. I keeps it real, why is this place such a big deal? Still, the Fry Kids chase after me, They wanna hear me & my thoughts about this brewery. It wasn't that great or bad, more in the middle , Robble robble, know what I mean? So check the words that I'm saying, The Hamburglar, the one in the B-O-O-T-H, Me and Ronnie say you should go back to the plan. Reestablish yourself and be different from the rest. Ring, ding, dong. Ring-a-ding-ding-ding-dong. 3.5 outta 5, now you know. *credit to The Sequence, Dr. Dre, MTV, McDonalds, Ronald McDonald, Hamburglar, Grimace, Fry Kids, and my childhood where I survived those treacherous outdoor playgrounds at above mentioned fast food joint.

Yelp
i love their pretzels. it is great! the inside is cozy. service is very good. food is always good. i repeat, pretzels are delicious.

Yelp
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with our dining experience at Engrained. When you walk into a nearly empty restaurant that worrisome feeling starts to creep up on you. I think we simply hit a lull in service which played out to our benefit; our waitress who was also the bartender was great! She was super helpful, friendly and handled everything accordingly! My wife loved her meal and my double burger (with gluten free bun) was outstanding. Most gluten free buns are average at best but Engrained has a top shelf bun and my burger was cooked to my version of perfection! We aren't beer drinkers but I am sure their line of taps would double down the experience for beer connoisseurs. All in all a cool place in a bit of a tucked away part of Springfield; unless you are staying at the hotel or heading over to Scheel's (as of right now) there is no real reason to be in this neck of the woods.

Ryan R.

Yelp
Second time coming here. This time was as good as last time. The onion rings were awesome and the filet was good a pretty good cut of meat. Pretzel sticks are amazing. Fish was decent and the beer was good. Our server was great! The place is very nice and a place you want to sit down and eat at.
google avatar

Mary F.

Yelp
Engrained Brewing is one of my favorite places to eat in Springfield. I love how they incorporate so many local items in both the food and the beer. The menu changes seasonally so there is always something new to try. The service was outstanding. I didn't try any of the beers during this most recent visit, but in previous visits they have all been really good! Definitely worth a stop if you are looking for good food and/or beer in Springfield!
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
Will not return. The meal starters old pretzel sticks. They were hard and not very good. I had the Ruben, and there was not much flavor to the meat or sandwich. Beers are plentiful and have many locals on tap. Really the only reason to go there would be for that. Service was good.

Madison L.

Yelp
Would be a 1 star review, but our waitress was extremely nice. The food was overpriced for the quality. It lacked flavor and freshness. However, the beer was good. Would not recommend for food.

Gary D.

Yelp
7 of the 8 beers I sampled were great! This will be my Springfield drinking destination from now on
google avatar

Keith B.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Love the overall feel of the ambiance. Absolutely recommend.
google avatar

Becky Q.

Yelp
Love the cheese curds! Always good food and service. This restaurant prides itself on using local food sources which I appreciate.
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
We stopped primarily to sample a beer or two, but we ended up ordering food too... The blueberry brie pork burger was very good. The pretzel sticks were good... soft and not overly salty. (The cheese sauce was a little bland, but that's a small criticism). And we were compelled to share a bread pudding for dessert. Can't go wrong with that. Definitely worth the stop.
google avatar

Al K.

Yelp
I really like Engrained. They source much of their vegetables from their own farm and work with area farm-markets as their providers for protein. That appeals to me. They are also on the local Springfield "Bourbon Trail" and have diverse choices in whiskey styles. Of course, as their name implies, they also brew beer. I'm tired of the ongoing trend of IPA's and fruit-beer so their Red Ale is my go-to-choice unless they've brewed their Kölsch (a great Summer beer). Their menu changes time to time. Their flatbreads are enjoyable as are their sandwiches. Their default style for their french fries is to fry them until they brown, so if you prefer the lighter style you have to request them that way. In these cold Winter days I wish they would resurrect their Jambalaya!
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
We had a pleasant and enjoyable dinner at Engrained. All of the burgers, pizza, sandwiches, and salads were well prepared and tasty, and the beer drinkers enjoyed their brews. Our server, Mercedes, was skillful and unusually thoughtful. Of course, we'll be back!
