"The family-owned casual Japanese spot, Ennju, has ended its 21-year run, leaving behind diners who can no longer enjoy its chicken karaage bento boxes, pork donburi bowls, and rainbow sushi rolls." - Caroline Shin

"Nevertheless, when I’d brought my katsudon ($13) into Union Square Park, it glinted through the clear plastic cover in a most inviting way. The cutlet was crisp and greasy, the omelet pungent with scallions, and the rice so delectable that I pushed part of the pork aside to eat the rice first." - Robert Sietsema

"Ennju is a little Japanese counter place on 17th street that appears to be unknown to tourists (and therefore, most other interns). They serve a ton of different options like donburi bowls, udon, and sushi, and everything is more exciting than the salad you “forgot” at your apartment." - Hannah Albertine, Matt Tervooren

Few years back this was a regular eatery place for me. I love the bento boxes, salmon teriyaki don, sushis and mizo soup here. Price is some what above average than regular lunch places. The people are friendly. I would say that this place is more of my comfort eating zone. I enjoy the vibe of this place.

Small but nice, a casual atmosphere with decent food for a good price, and extremely friendly staff. The kind of place good for becoming a regular at, traditional Japanese food, and a surprising amount of variety available on their menu.

Excellent Japanese food with cheap prices and a nice ambiance. I’ve been here almost everyday since October, and it’s a shame that it’s closing down in July.

A fantastic lunch spot! I've had the karaage and salmon teriyaki don, and both were delicious! Definitely a recommended stop if you're by Union Square. :^)

Wide variety of tea served in a kettle. Plenty of space to sit. Fresh pre-packed rolls for fast takeout. Delicious Japanese hot foods and soups. Good prices. Ordering also available through Seamless. Authentic décor.

Food: alright Value: excellent Friendly staff. Get the bento for a really good value lunch but just know what you are getting. The made to order foods are okay, not the best but you still get a good amount of food for how much you are paying. They also have a lot of different rice balls which are pretty good depending on what you like. Oh by the way you get free soup with the made to order food items.

What is there not to love about this 100% authentic Japanese eatery in the heart of Union Square in New York City? The food is delightful and carefully crafted. The miso soups are wonderful, as are the hot, freshly prepared dishes. There is pre-made sushi, rice balls (onigiris), sweets such as mochis, matcha & sesame puddings, a wonderful selection of small sakes, and many other unique vegetable and dumpling dishes. The setting is relaxed, cafeteria style, and filled with edgy Japanese art and books. There is no pressure to hurry up eating, rather, one can relax and eat joyfully and peacefully.

Cheap Japanese fast food (kind of) restaurant in a good location. Get sushi, raw fish salad and Miso/Hot Miso for your choice. Miso was OK👌🏼 Don't expect a regular Japanese restaurant service; however it's satisfying though.
