I rarely if ever give anyone a 5 star rating, but Enza's certainly earns it!
My wife and I were in Jacksonville recently, and being out of towners, we had the usual quandary about where to eat. We stumbled on Enza's listing, and we drove 12 miles, not knowing exactly where it was.
The trip was worth it!
It is in a strip mall set back from the main road, and that makes it easy to miss, but don't.
They have a bar side and a dining room side, and there was a piano player whose music filled the place.
I had shrimp Fra Diavlo and my wife had baked ziti. We both had a small dinner salad, which was pleasant and refreshing. Garlic bread as included, well done, not overpowering.
The ziti was the absolute best either of us ever had! The pasta was firm and playful in our mouths, the cheese was generous, and the sauce not overpowering.
The Fra Diavlo sauce was spicy and genuine. Often, Fra Diavlo sauce is whatever red sauce a place has with a bit of extra pepper. This was the real thing.
The linguini also had great texture and was a positive addition in its own right.
The owner/chef if Sicilian, and she really knows how to cook!
My only regret is that I live almost 300 miles away, but if I lived locally, I would be there at least once a week.
If you live in or around Jacksonville, don't miss this place!
