The Best Montreal Brunches for Your Mother’s Day Plans | Eater Montreal

"The gourmet grocery near Beaubien metro is offering a seasonal ode to Quebec. Its menu ($120 for two people; $210 for four or $300 for six) features house-made salmon gravlax cured with beet and raspberry leaf; a wild mushroom and tarragon quiche; a zucchini tart with honey-glazed mascarpone, herbs, lemon zest, sunflower seeds and citrus vinaigrette; black forest cake; and lots more. Add on a Mother’s Day cocktail kit, too — think sangria, but with Quebec rosé, ginger bitters, sparkling water sweetened with spruce sap and lemon and lime juice. Pickup is Saturday, May 8, with orders having to be in by Thursday evening."

The Best Takeout Options From Long-Standing Montreal Food Counters | Eater Montreal

"Two years in, the charming fellows at Conserva have continued to pump out homemade sausages, preserves, soups, and in-house stuffed pastas that rival the city’s top restaurants. There’s fresh produce, beer and wine, but many go to pick up their daily sandwich and savoury tarte tatin: Lunch and dinner are served." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

Conserva? I had never heard of it until today. We were looking for a snack while prom dress shopping and here we stumbled upon Conserva. Upon entering we got the nicest smiles and service. We weren’t sure what to get, but they were extremely patient. One of my friends got a cookie and I shared a bun with the other. My friend said the cookie was chewy, juicy and “definitely quenched my thirst.”My bun wasn’t dry at all despite it being on display. Their prices were affordable. Staff brought a smile to our faces. Conserva is the perfect place to grab a snack without spending too much and personally, we can’t wait to come back to try the brownies, lemon tarts, oh there are too many good options… choices are endless!

Outstanding takeout! Enjoyed three different sandwiches, fantastic gazpacho, and flan tart. There is also a nicely curated selection of groceries, many local. Friendly and helpful service.

Great selection of local products—both fresh and shelf-stable. A nice selection of ready-made, gourmet treats too, like focaccia and desserts! Service is always good.

Great place to pick up some lunch or specialty items to add to your meal! I’ve had a few of their sandwiches and they’ve all been delicious. They’re prepared on the spot so they’re very fresh. They always balance flavours really well. They’ll add herbs, chimichurri and some other delicious homemade thing that perfectly complements the sandwich. I’ve also picked up several things to take home. They have a great selection of craft beers and ciders, as well as some specialty items like black garlic or other difficult to find items. We absolutely loved their cucumber gazpacho! The star of the show for me was their Valentine’s Day foie gras mousse tart. Wow! The pearl onion and other tarts have always been delicious but I still dream of the foie gras one.

Roast Beef, Pesto, Chimichurri, Fried Onions, Swiss Cheese Sando! . This is not only a great spot to get amazing quality meats from master butchers like @leporcdebeaurivage but also a great spot to get literally anything. @epicerieconservamtl has fresh local produce, amazing artisanal beers and wines and even meals that you could take to go. . While I was there I had to take advantage of there Roast Beef Sandwich of the week and it was delicious. My only wish is that it wasn't so far from me but honestly it's good it kinda is, otherwise I'd be there every day no joke getting amazing meats and other stuff to try constantly and I'd go broke 🤣.

I absolutely love Conserva and wish I lived closer to their store! The guys are so passionate about food and take time to explain all of their great produce with each customer. You can really tell that this is their passion. Everything is fresh, local and delicious! Great job guys, it is so nice that you are sharing your knowledge and love of food with everyone! I can't wait to do my groceries at your place again!

John, Massimo, and the folks at Conserva catered our wedding last season to absolute perfection. This is going to be a resounding 5-star review for every area of the service they provided us, so buckle up! In the months leading up to the big day, John was so flexible and creative in ensuring we served our guests exceptional food within our limited budget. He, and everyone at Conserva were responsive and easy to get in touch with by phone or e-mail. They also went above and beyond to make sure we could personalize the meal even though we were not the ones doing the cooking. Our favourite example of this is that John worked with us to have the food served on our family’s collection of homemade ceramic platters and serving dishes. John happily did the extra logistical work to make this happen for us, and both the kitchen and serving staff took such good care of these special family pieces. On the day of our wedding, true to the hallmarks of excellent catering, we didn’t even notice the kitchen and serving staff until we had a question or a request—and then they were immediately available to make whatever adjustment was needed. Because of the location of our venue, a remote family property in Lantier, QC, Conserva’s cooking and prep area was set up outside with limited access to electricity, and quite close to where our wedding guests were congregating for cocktail service and canapés. The professionalism and enthusiasm of John and his kitchen staff manning the grills and prep tables made it feel like they were just another part of a big family barbecue. They were never too busy to share a quick joke or smile with guests who were interested in their work or the food they brought out. We can’t say enough about how well the attitude of Conserva staff, servers and cooks alike, complimented the atmosphere of our celebration. And the food! Last but not least, I am grateful and delighted to share that the meal prepared by John and Conserva was without a doubt the best part of their already stellar service. For our wedding, we wanted a rustic but refined selection of entrees, sides, and accompaniments that felt like elevated backyard barbecue fare. And oh boy, did Conserva deliver. The canapés and the meal were both served buffet style with Conserva staff taking care of the set-up and monitoring the buffet stations. Every single guest we’ve spoken to about their experience at our wedding has raved about the food. There was something for everyone, including a delicious vegan option that I noticed some of the meat eaters sneaking small portions of—but this caused no worries as Conserva made sure there was more than enough of each meal component for our guests to have seconds and thirds. Would we recommend Conserva to other couples tying the knot? Honestly, we think you’d be crazy to go anywhere else. But if they’re all booked up for your date, be sure to stop by their storefront—the food and service is just as exceptional there as well. [Photos by Ashley Mac Phee Photography]

Yelp
One of a welcome new breed of small groceries that have small selections of everything, make almost everything themselves, get most of their imports from local purveyors, and use less to no plastic. They have a small selection of everything, carefully grown, made, or sourced, including meats, cheeses, dairy, produce, beers, and, as their name implies, a ton of pickled conserves of every variety. Would have thought the prices would be high, but surprisingly reasonable for many products, especially produce

Yelp
Épicerie Conserva is an excellent small grocer that offers a variety of fresh produce, local products, in-house products such as sauces, pickled goods and deserts. They also have an open kitchen in the back where they offer a few options if you're hungry in the moment and THIS IS WHY I AM HERE TO DROP SOME TRUTH ON YOUR EYEBALLS! Best sandwiches in town. Let me repeat that for the suckers in the back... BEST SANDWICHES IN TOWN! Try a sandwich of the week and tell me you wouldn't give up your firstborn for just one more bite! Of course you could just pay for a second sandwich but this dramatization is warranted: I have sex dreams about their sandwiches and I'm an asexual eunuch! They also do small pizzas if you go in early enough: you wont want to give you dog the crust either. I'm so glad this place in nearby for me- I go every week!
