Equal Parts Brewery - Review - East Downtown - Houston - The Infatuation

"If you’ve ever wanted to enjoy a few beers in the Conservatory of the board game Clue, then check out Equal Parts in EaDo. It’s filled with as many houseplants as beers on draught. Known for its crisp lagers and hazy IPAs, Equal Parts also brews beer kick-started with koji rice molds, fruited sours, and barrel-aged porters pumped up with chocolate and cinnamon flavors. So grab a couple of mixed fights, take advantage of the free wifi, and bop along to the old-school pop-punk that always seems to be playing. photo credit: Chelsea Thomas" - Chelsea Thomas

This was the best brewery I went to on my trip to Houston. The beer quality was very high. Some good styles though they definitely cater to the craft nerds. Service was fast and friendly. Plenty of parking outside. The inside area isn’t huge so that’s the only real drawback.

Stephen Delgado

Google
This place definitely Delgado Approved. The bartenders make you feel right at home. If you're in the Eado area, do yourself a favor and stop by... You definitely won't be disappointed

We discovered Equal Parts Brewing through Harvest Host while traveling in our motorhome. Hip casual ambiance with a green thumb. The fiddle fig is beautiful! The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. We tried a couple samples and I landed on a Sueño 3.5 abv and my husband had the All Malt Classic. They were tasty and cold. We each had two more. The local run club had their meeting there and some had their dogs with them. Pietastic was there with some of their pies, other baked goods and some samples and I got a slice of bourbon pecan pie. I like how they showcase local business and community. It was lovely evening. We would definitely return to imbibe again! Delicious!

Google
Stopped in at open on a quiet Monday. Service was awesome. They have a large and diverse selection of beers on draft. Really enjoyed the different pour styles on the Czech Pils - awesome beer. Loved the ability to build you own 4 pack of 16oz cans or 12 pack of 12oz cans - great when you are traveling. No food available, but do yourself a favor and grab some to-go Champ Burger on the way into the brewery.

Google
One of my favorite brewery in H-town. If you wanna try decent Houstonian hazy IPA, you should stop by! Various largers, sour beers, Berliner Weisse are also solid and amazing. Located in east downtown, close to MMP and soccer stadium. 2 min drive from one of OG burger Champ Burger. Lots of free parking space.

Google
Solid beer list! They had 2 BIPA’s available! Mind blown! Super good beers. Menu looked good. Will have to try next time. Small outside area but was able to find a seat. Cool place!

Google
A great brewery in EADO with an awesome vibe. Large variety of beers and all we had were great. A nice place to just chill and enjoy beer with friends. This may be one of my favorite micro breweries in town.

Google
What an excellent afternoon spent at Equal Parts Brewing! They were having their Camp Loggerbier event and it was a blast. We even made jewelry with the Craft Club HTX! The staff is incredible. It became crowded but they remained cheerful and were able to take care of everyone. First I had the Slow Pour Loggerbier which was fascinating. They use their Lukr side pull faucet from the Czech Republic. Takes 8 minutes and well worth the short wait. My second was the Lil' Smokey! Yes, it DID taste like BBQ! It was absolutely delightful. Equal Parts' menu is amazing! I can't wait to return to try out their many unique brews. Thanks, Equal Parts!

Yelp
Equal Parts Brewing is my go to. Between this place and my husband, I became a beer lover! Equal Parts provides a clean and great atmosphere, for its guests and of course great beer. There is always an event going on and it's a fun place to go to meet new people. On most days, they have a food truck or pop up that provides delicious food for purchase. El Pobre is typically there on the weekends and Fafa Kitchen (great people) are there on Wednesdays. They will have pop ups through out the week. It is normally posted on their social media. All of the "beertenders' are great. They all have a broad knowledge of beer, including the brewery process and flavor notes. I have developed friendships with everyone and genuinely enjoy stopping by to talk and hear about their day. S/o to Jacob W. He already knows what I want before I even ask for it. 10/10 for great service right there! Equal Parts has kegs for purchase if you are planning a big event. We purchased 2 for our wedding this past year. We ordered a Keg of their Kaizen (Japanese rice logger) and a slim Keg of their Entropic (IPA) and they were a hit. We meet people who come here to try their beer (using Lukr taps) from all over the U.S. Overall, this place won't disappoint!

Yelp
Staff were super friendly and helpful . Place , including the bathrooms were clean and I love when companies have feminine hygiene products offered for free in the bathrooms . I tried the Resolv with the cream topping , it was good and crisp , also tried the chocolate dunk. And it was one of the smoothest dark beers I've ever tried . Left with one of their bottled imperial ales.

Yelp
This place deserves six stars. Just for their bathrooms alone. The whole place is newly renovated, gorgeous and smells clean, and they have two gender neutral and cap accessible bathrooms that are pristine, along with products for the ladies and clean soap and hot water. They have a plethora of their own beer for sale, along with ciders and wines and bubbles. They have free Wi-Fi and an open room that invites you right in. I love that this place doesn't have a lot of outdoor signage so it's sort of a local's only place. But the bartender/brewer (I don't know what to call him) was super friendly and talk to us about all of the things in the area along with how they renovated the building. He was very nice and we had a great conversation. Overall, amazing. I am super happy that a local told us to try this place out!

Yelp
Came for a friend's birthday. It's such a cute place and in a great location. Parking is easy, too! I'm not a wet drinker, but they accommodate for ppl like me by bringing in cider from a local place. They also have food trucks.

Yelp
This brewery has an amazing vibe--laid-back and inviting. The atmosphere is perfect with lots of greenery and cozy, low-key energy. It's a great spot to relax with friends or just enjoy a quiet drink. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a chill and welcoming environment!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome! There is a very cool and laidback vibe here. The building is historic and when you walk through you can tell the owners and staff have put a lot of love into this space. Now let me get to the good part...the beer is awesome! I'm not even a huge beer girl but I'm in love with Sueño and a few other light beers I tried. We were holding an event and everyone absolutely fell in love with the space, the location, and how nice the staff was! They had a big crowd around the bar but everyone seemed to be getting their drinks in a good amount of time. Anyway, I'm putting this place on my "places to go list" for my friends who come to town. Everyone should check this place out! They also have market dates and special events on the weekends!

Yelp
Summary: Smaller brewery in East Downtown in a warehouse district. No food on premises and brews in the upper 3s lower 4s on the Untappd 5 point scale. This is a small spot in East Downtown, Houston, Texas. It is a bit difficult to find, as the signage is very small. Cozy inside. There are a few tables and around 10 seats at the bar. Very nano-brewery size. As per usual, I let the beertender pick my brews and he chose Kaizen (rice lager), Laggerbier (German pils), Nocturn (porter), and Amgis (thiolized West Coast IPA). My beer rankings were between 3.75 and 4, so above average brewery with some tasty brews. Beertender was great and gave a lot of history on the beer. More of a sciency approach to beermaking with great can art. My biggest laugh was the wifi password, which I will leave a secret so you can enjoy a nice hearty laugh, especially if parents bringing their kids into breweries have to explain the password. If I have a negative for the place, it is a bit more brightly lit than I would really enjoy on a regular basis. They do have some outdoor seating and I would likely sit outside on a good day, as the brightness kills the ambience a bit. Adding in the brewery which is seen through a window at the backside of the bar, it feels a bit clinical in nature. Minor issue overall. The beer was good enough I grabbed some to cart back to Nashville. I would definitely consider another run into Equal Parts the next time I am in Houston.

Yelp
Great brewery with a relaxed vibe and good service! They have a variety of draft beers and cans to-go. Family place. Dog friendly.

Yelp
One of the BEST stouts I've had in a looong time! Here as a Harvest Host visitor and parking was easy (glad I got there before evening rush!). Was extremely busy as there were two local groups holding events on site but still managed to get in and grab some quality beer.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool brewery, was popular on a Saturday afternoon. I liked the interior, with the mirrored glass. I got the beer that they pour extra slow and comes out with a foamy head - almost like a Stella - I didn't really care for it though. My husband likes dark beers but preferred the slow poured lager. We ordered from the Mexican food truck outside, which don't get the spicy chicken sandwich, it was terrible.
google avatar

Yelp
I was in the Houston area and had time to spare before an event. I saw this place pop up and so I stopped in to check them out. I've already been back to them again within the week because I really enjoyed the brewery! The staff are chill and friendly. Eric bartended the second time we came and was nice enough to have good casual conversation and was happy to share brewery history and answer questions. I loved the variety and quality of the beers. They are able to keep the craft part alive! I really enjoyed the darks including Black Rain and we also took a 4 pack of Sigma IPA home. The location is neat and has the metro rain running past. We'll be back!

Yelp
Overall, I liked the vibe of the outdoor seating area / front patio of Equal Parts Brewing at night time. Additionally, I felt the flights were priced really well! I didn't really love the inside seating ambience it had though -- something about the extremely bright white overhead lightning and minimal decor... I think others agreed because just about everyone was sitting outside on the cool November night we went out. Over on the side of the building, they also have some picnic tables out with a great view of the city skyline!

Denise H.

Yelp
Enjoyed our evening at Equal Parts Brewing. The beer was good and the waitstaff very friendly. The fact that it was $2-off-a-pint-of-lager night was icing on the cake! Outside seating in nice February weather was a plus too.

Yelp
Great ambience for a very distinctive brewery. Classic beer styles from all over the world.

Yelp
Summary- Top 3 brewery for hubby and I in Houston. Beer- 5 Stars Everything from light to dark is excellent with very rare misses. Call outs- Exotica Series MFC and Burial in Space Hazies- Nude Tayne, Nucleation Series, etc The list is honestly just too long. Atmosphere- 4 Stars Outside is meh but not terrible, inside is nice and expanded post COVID

M. D.

Yelp
Good beer however the gentleman bartender was not hospital. I rather take my money elsewhere.
google avatar

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Only outside seating available that is socially distanced because of covid. We tried a couple of their IPAs and they were all very good! The food truck outside was very good as well I wish I could remember the name. We had onion rings and shrimp tacos. They were so so good and the man inside was very friendly. Overall a very lowkey chill spot with great beer. Will definitely be back for more!

Yelp
The beers are awesome! Stay here with harvest hosts in your RV ! Yelp
Best brews, service, vibe & experience I've had in the brewery scene in Houston! Fantastic all around! Gotta try the 7 minute Pilsner pour

Yelp
Great brewery. Both the stouts and sours were terrific. Great service too. Definitely stop by!

Yelp
I am a big craft beer person, so I decided to try this brewery, which is only 4 months old while I was visiting Houston. They had at least two dark beers, which is a winning situation for me because I love me some stouts and porters. I decided to get the flight ($10), which comes with four beers of your choice. None of the beers disappointed me but my favorite one was the Murry Chrimmus, loved the cinnamon flavor in it. The service is great, the bartender told us about the story behind the brewery and was really friendly and helpful. They also give brewery tours on Saturdays from 12-3pm. Both indoor as well as outdoor seating is available. Great place to hang out with friends, play some games and have a chill night. Definitely recommend this place if you're a craft beer person.

Yelp
Came here for Doomsday Wrestling recently and had a good time! First, there was definitely plenty of parking available - there was only a small strip of spots adjacent to the bar, but there was another large back lot where we ended up parking. I didn't actually spend a ton of time inside the bar portion of the brewery (just stayed long enough to order a few drinks!), but it seemed nice. The beers themselves were quite tasty! I ended up getting the Medina Sod (which was a nice start to the evening - very light!), Dodgson's Amber (another solid choice), and the Intermezzo (which was a little tart, not quite as satisfying as the other choices and not the best fruity beer I've had). The outside area where the wrestling happened was pretty nice, although Houston was as humid as ever. They had a couple of nice food stations outside: a pizza place as well as a place with interesting hot dogs and tacos. I ended up getting a hot dog and it was tasty (and decadent!). The wrestling started a little later than scheduled, so that was pretty frustrating for me since I wasn't getting drunk, but I think most people were just happy to sit around, drink and eat, and hang out with friends :) Also, I'm not really sure if I'm supposed to be reviewing the wrestling in this post, but it was entertaining, for sure. Overall, I would definitely come back to this brewery! The beer was tasty, there was plenty of parking, and the general vibe was chill and a good time!

Joseph R.

Yelp
Cool spot to hang out and have some great beers! Friendly, attentive staff. I'll definitely check them out again when in the area. Didn't realize how close it is to Minute Maid park, so can have a few here and just walk over to any events! Slightly hard to find, but now that I know where it is I look forward to returning.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
The beers are great. In fact, superb. They tend to be on the higher side (8%), but really are delicious. As of right now, no inside seating due to Covid. You order from a window. Service is fast and you can get to-go's in 16oz cans. This place reminds me a lot of Ingenious Brewing Company up North (#shoutout). You can find some of Equal Parts beers at the HEB on Bunker Hill if you want to try them and don't live on the east side/downtown. But they have a much wider selection at their brewery. They also have wooden pick-nick tables there. Dog friendly outside. Have fun and come thirsty!
google avatar

Bianca C.

Yelp
I stopped by before a fashion show. As I was waiting for the show to start, I sat at the bar and had a drink. The team here was very welcoming. Drinking a rosè beer, the inside of the brewery was very simple. A few arcade games and standing tables, this would be a great place to come for night out or even after a ball game. I didnt realize this gem was in my neighborhood but I was glad I found it. Beer isn't normally my thing but you never know! Bianca

Yelp
Sigma has become one of my favorite breweries! Environment is chill and cozy. Love the location! Inside area isn't too big but it's big enough. They have a patio area and some space is used for Doomsday Wresting practice. Annette, who works behind the bar has always been great, excellent customer service. It's always nice to be recognized. Overall tasty beer and reasonable prices.
google avatar

Christina J.

Yelp
Sigma is my favorite Houston brewery by a landslide. Cherry on top, there is ample parking! The beers: Sigma can do no wrong. I've tried everything and it's all top notch. The challenge is narrowing down what to order. The selection is perfect, not too big, not too small, it's just all damn good. The service: I could not ask for more. They are knowledgeable and will talk to you about their beers and local events. They seem truly engaged in speaking with customer, not just cursory conversation. This is a standout detail that sets them apart from others. Ambiance: Metal AF
google avatar

Ally L.

Yelp
My friend and I swung by Sigma Brewing on a whim a few weekends ago and were not disappointed with our experience! This small brewery had 8 beers on tap as well as friendly staff and patrons. We shared a flight of XPA (blonde), three seashells (pale ale), porter, and intermezzo (fruited sour). Both of us enjoyed the sour best, so we each had a glass of that after! The entire experience was very relaxing, and all of the beers were packed with flavor and personality. My only complaint would be that a bar should have more than a single-stall bathroom. Luckily it wasn't very crowded when I was there, so I didn't have any issues; I can just foresee this being a complaint. Overall, Sigma is an intimate brewery with tasty beers! I highly recommend dropping by!
google avatar

Yelp
Beer is great. Great parking. Chill people! Covid friendly. Outside only currently because of covid but there's space and the atmosphere is great.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Amazing milk stout- great place to hang before catching rail to Astros game for $1.25- better than $50 parking for playoff game. Look forward to trying some more of their brews!
google avatar

Harley G.

Yelp
Best craft beers I've ever had. Without a doubt the best brewery in Houston and possibly even Texas. The hazy IPAs always hit and they always have a good rotation of new/one off beers.

Ryan E.

Yelp
I originally came here on part of the city tour (where you get a flight at four different breweries of your choosing). And let me say, this was the ONLY location that let me choose which beers i wanted in that promotional flight. Also, they have the best beers! I'm a big IPA fan and this place has a massive IPA menu on tap, and they're all delicious. It's why I came back and why I will continue to come back!
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Sigma is such a great spot. Lucky for me, it's near my house! We are so excited to have a great brewery so close to home. The space is small but nice and clean. We've always received great service from the staff. The beer is great! The music is a little... heavy... but hey, that's their whole vibe. :) They usually have a food truck, and you can have your dogs outside on the patio.
google avatar

Noelle R.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Monday afternoon to check this place out and will definitely be returning. The staff is friendly, the beers are tasty, and the price is right. Have a great selection and wide variety of beers and the staff was very knowledgeable and generous with samples. You can get a flight, a half pour, or a full pour...so definitely lots of options to try a couple of beers. Other thoughts: -parking: free, convenient parking right outside -cleanliness: very clean place -food: no food -entertainment: had a movie on a projector and several games to play with friends Overall, great beer and friendly people!
google avatar

Sabrina F.

Yelp
So glad we found this local brewery. It's truly neighborhood vibes and the beer is incredible. Special shoutout to the "Murry Fuggin Chrimmus" barrel-aged imperial stout. You can't go wrong with this seasonal brew. //You can bring your own food //Dog Friendly in the "brewing" area outdoors //Family Friendly
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
Very new and ripe with potential, Sigma is a welcome addition to the Houston brewing scene! Currently they only have three brews - the XPA, APA, and Porter - on tap, but they're all quite tasty and go down well. The XPA was a little weak for my tastes, but the APA had a great floral quality about it and the porter was fabulously coffee/chocolatey. I'd definitely recommend the latter two. Tokens are $5 a cup, but you can buy a glass with the Sigma logo on it for $12, if I remember correctly. In terms of overall setup, there were probably an equal amount of people inside as there were on the outside patio. The interior is rather sparse, but I can see it fleshing out in weeks to come. (Besides, we're here for beer, aren't we?) There's an empty lot behind the warehouse where food trucks are parked, and extra area to stand and chill with friends next to the vats of liquid happiness. The environment is conducive to mingling, and tables inside have games like Jenga you can play to pass the time. Shout out to the nicely designed coasters, too. I dig it. I'd be down to return.

Yelp
While I have had plenty of Sigma around Houston, I have never been to the brewery before. They opened about 2 years ago, and have been expanding and doing well. I can't say I am a fan of everything they do. The New England IPA's and Milkshake IPA's specifically are not my thing. People can disagree with me on NEIPA, but those Milkshake ones are horrible, and don't know how anybody thinks that is a good idea, to be fair that is not a Sigma issue just a trend I think is bad. Anyway, nitty gritty stuff. A comfortable bar inside with some tables, and even some small TV's to play old video games. You can see the brewing equipment on the other side of the bar, and that area has a few picnic tables and pub games to play. Service is really good. The one bartender on a Sunday afternoon was great, and I have met the owners before. They are good people. Music is a mix of punk/alt/metal stuff but toned down a little from say Brash. The air conditioned bar, not unbelievably loud warehouse is nice too. 9 taps at any one time and do crowlers to go. Their regular IPA is good and standard. They make some stouts and DIPA's. The extra pale ale is I guess their "light" offering, more of a blonde ale and is good as well. I'm not a fan of their kettle soured offerings or the NEIPA's like I said above. Though, I don't think any brewery hits everything out of the park. They also have a selection of barrel aged beers to go, sometimes on tap, and even looks like some other breweries like Terreux Bruery on offer. On par with Great Heights and Bailson's, but doesn't hit the upper tier of Saint Arnold and Holler for me. Overall a very good neighborhood brewery for the area.

Kathlene P.

Yelp
we stayed here with harvest host, and were so excited about trying their brews. We were not let down, great service, great beer!!!

Yelp
This is a great place. They have a great Porter. If you into that. Very Cool Staff. Sigma very into Heavy Metal music.
google avatar

Orze K.

Yelp
After moving to EaDo we heard around that Sigma was the local brewery so we went to check it out, and it's a great little hidden gem. It's tucked away in the East End with a good amount of parking, outdoor space, and even vendors from time to time. Great beers on tap, vintage video games, and solid staff. We buy growlers to go and sit at the bar and enjoy some beers from time to time. Our new go to brewery in the east end that's not as packed as 8th Wonder or St. Arnold's.

Yelp
I decided to come here after reading about it right here on Yelp. I was looking for a small local brewery in the area with not too large of a crowd. This place is located near downtown in an industrial park, tucked away from a busy area. It was a little hard to find at first because it didn't look open from the outside. At first when you walk in you hear some awesome heavy metal, grungy rock n' roll music which I thought was awesome. Surprisingly the bar wasn't crowded at all and we got seats just fine. We decided to try a flight of their beers and I can honestly say they were all amazing. I have a preference for darker beers like stouts and porters and they definitely do justice when it comes to brewing. I highly recommend the porter and Bulgarian Miak. The APA was good as well. This is again another brewery still in its infancy as it has only been open for a few months. It's definitely my type of place and I would return if I'm in the area. The service was great and the people were friendly as well. We also got "tour" of the place as in the bartender gave us a brief history of how it all started right at the bar. Definitely come here if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Another brewery opened up in Houston, yay! Cute little place with a lot of potential. Right now, they only have 3 brews (XPA, APA, and porter), but I look forward to seeing additions soon. Decent brews, although not quite up there with No Label in Katy, which happens to be my favorite local brew right now. The inside space is on the cozier side, but they also have the front porch space and back lot (with several food trucks!) for socializing while you enjoy the brews. I imagine the inside space will expand (unoccupied space next door?) and the back lot will soon have some seating and games available. Look forward to coming back to see how the place develops over time!

Yelp
This is the type of brewery every city needs. Hazy IPAs str here and everything comes served in 16oz cans (maybe due to Covid). About $6-7 per single or buy 4 for $18. Big beers with at least half the menu at 8% abv or more. Not much seating but easy ordering for to go or can just drink in the parking lot. But as far as beers, these are juicy and great and remind me of Trillium where each beer is hazy but they all have just enough different on the hops or flavor profile to keep you buying. Sigma/Equal Parts is right up there for a hazy fan. Can sometimes find their beer at Total Wine, but for the full picture you need to make a trek to the brewery east of downtown.

S B.

Yelp
I RARELY order IPAs, because most IPAs just taste like IPAs. However, Equal Parts Brewing has a really unique and tasty line-up of IPAs (as well as an Italian pilsner and a sour that I really enjoyed) that were so good, I went back the next day and waited for them to open so I could order some 4-packs. Seriously, do not miss the Extra Fuzzy Imperial Oat Cream IPA. And do not miss the food truck. I don't know if it's always the same one or not, but I've never seen such thick, delicious quesadillas anywhere else. This is a great place to spend an evening or afternoon (it's actually the first stop on the city's bike and brew tour), and completely dog-friendly with lots of outdoor seating.

Yelp
Great beers, friendly beertender, can't ask for much more! Happy Sunday Funday! I highly recommend their current special release Trongun. It's a solid Hazy IPA w Citra and El Dorado hops, they have a few 4/pk left.

Yelp
Great brewery in a sea of breweries in Houston. I really like "start the reactor", and it's one if my favorite brews in the area. Will definitely be bacK to try more.

Yelp
As a person who enjoys craft beers, I really enjoy coming to this place. The atmosphere is nice, and the people are friendly. The bartender is very knowledgeable of the beers and the prices are low. I came when they were having a watch party for wrestling, and even though I am not a fan, it was still a nice experience. I tried the APA, XPA, and the Apparatus.. all great beers, none were disappointing. The place is small, but has a lot of parking space which is a plus. Outside food is allowed so you can order in, and sometimes they have food trucks outside. Definitely recommend coming here !

Yelp
I went a few weeks ago and finally remembered this!but hey, Great beer. But listen. Any place that cares enough about their restroom and women in general is a good place. Tampons and panty liners?!?! The restroom smelled like sweet tarts. I'll be back as soon as our social distancing is over to support a place that is killing the restroom game.
