We decided to go inside the record shop and we were so glad we did. There is so much history and information inside including an incredible record/CD collection and memorabilia!
In the opening days this record shop only sold through mail orders. They apparently still get a lot of orders from music lovers of that generation!
We enquired about the stage at the back of the store and Jude was a wealth of information! We were so glad he was available to chat with us!
This is where the Midnight Jamboree was broadcast from every Saturday night after the Grand Ole Opry. This was a way for up and covers to perform their acts during the “dead radio hour” and gain exposure.
The Midnight Jamboree is still on to this day and is the “second largest radio show in history”.
The Midnight Jamboree just recently relocated back to this location after 26 years at the Texas Troubadour Theater!!
We stood on the stage where so many musicians have stood before us - fortunately for the staff we did not try to sing as it may be the first time anyone would have been boo’d off the stage! Imagine standing where the likes of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, Patsy Kline and many many many many more!
Well worth the stop and make sure to talk to the staff! Enquirer about show dates!
