Esca - Review - Roma - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"At Esca, “grabbing lunch” translates to an entire afternoon thanks to unrushed, elegant service. The restaurant is housed in a sprawling two-story casona in Roma, with a Capri-like entrance full of white pebbles and plants. It's the perfect setting for leisurely enjoying a menu that reads like a greatest-hits tour of Italian seafood. There's a generously uni-loaded bruschetta on carrot brioche with ricotta, and a mascarpone agnolotti, which might be one of the most indulgent bites in the neighborhood, served in a bowl with raw scallops, topinambur, guanciale, and truffle sauce." - Guillaume Guevara

Dave Pasternack Opens Barca in NYC

"A midtown seafood restaurant credited with changing how New Yorkers approach seafood by popularizing crudo—raw seafood preparations that now appear across the city’s menus, even on delicate fishes like fluke. Led by a chef who is a dedicated fisherman and an advocate for local seafood (bluefish among the examples), the kitchen filters Italian technique and flavor through seasonal, locally sourced fish, creating a distinctive Italian-seafood focus that has influenced many other restaurants." - Chris Crowley

What an amazing place! We’ve stumbled on it, and went in without reservation (lucky I guess). We were received with an amazing service by the Italian owner and Maxi - and got served some amazing dishes! The Blue Fine Tuna was exceptional as was the beef cut. Would definitely recommend!

12/10 - the entire experience was out of this world! I have been at pretty much every mx city fine dining restaurant BUT Esca is my absolute favorite! The dishes an inspiration of costal Italy, the Italian wine options the best I’ve seen in LATAM! And the staff, service and love we got! BRAVO

Flawless. Ao many restaurants popping up in Roma Condesa doomed to fail, but this is a gem! Beautiful place, well trained staff. Delicious pescatarian food and crafted cocktails. Well done!

Food was delicious but the atmosphere is better on the terrace.

Food is good. Drinks also very good. Service really good. Had a fish tartar which was our least favorite and the hamachi which was pretty good. Pastas were really good (had to send one back though due to it being salty and came back tasting great), though price and size relation extremely expensive as was everything else. Would give 2 stars to prices based on size and flavor overall which for me the overall experience was not worth the very expensive prices. Also the valet parking illegally holds parking spaces in the street and charge an absurd amount to park your car in the street

Wanted to love this place - excellent atmosphere but the food was lackluster. The manager and sommelier were incredibly overbearing. Avoid the canned tuna and crab ravioli - both were pushed on us by the manager and very disappointing dishes. The sommelier tried to only push the most expensive wines (US$200+)and when asked to recommend lower price point wines, was visibly irritated. In short, avoid this place at all costs.

Great place, have to visit, perfect representation of fine Mexican dishes, Mexico have a Mediterranean influence and ESCA is the ambassador.

Amazing food, amazing service! The parmesan balls with truffle are something to die for and the pasta with sardines and anchovies definitely is something you can’t miss. Also, listen to the sommelier, he definitely knows what to recommend. Everything was so perfectly paired. Also the place is beautiful and extremely comfortable to sit and have drinks after an amazing meal.
