The Best New Brunches Around Nashville | Eater Nashville

"This sleek newcomer at the Hutton Hotel features Art Deco-style design influences from its rounded light fixtures to checkered floor, and offers up a strong brunch slate to match. Dishes include brioche French toast with Bourbon maple syrup, a buttery country ham and cheese sandwich on sourdough, and the requisite biscuits and gravy. On the lighter side, diners can find a simple continental breakfast, caramelized grapefruit, and an earthy chicory Caesar salad. Brunch is served from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends." - Kellie Walton

Evelyn’s Opens its Doors With Steak Tartare and Towering Sundaes - Eater Nashville

"Evelyn’s recently opened its doors at the Hutton Hotel with a focus on modern American fare. The downtown dining room pays homage to Evelyn Sharp, a 20th-century hotelier, investor, socialite, and art collector, with fine art reminiscent of Evelyn’s personal collection. The restaurant, which features a mid-century modern aesthetic, showcases a dinner menu that includes shareable snacks and small plates, like steak tartare, Nashville hot fish and chips, and desserts such as drop biscuit cobbler, s’mores chocolate cake, and Evelyn’s Sundae for Two." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Visited Evelyn’s over Easter weekend with my sister. Our experience was marvelous. Ambiance top notch and aesthetically pleasing. Our waiter Will was attentive and helpful with everything we asked. If there were mistakes they were corrected expeditiously. Thank you Will! I recommend the steak and eggs for breakfast. My compliments to the chef! It tasted as if the meat had been marinated for a while, on top of the delicious chimichurri sauce along with the soft yolkiness of the eggs. Absolutely divine! As it was our first time we didn’t know the parking situation. But they have valet and will validate your parking.

Fantastic wait staff and hostess! Marcell was our waiter and he went above and beyond for a birthday! We all enjoyed our food and drinks here, we had zero complaints on the food. My only critique I have is regarding ordering the biscuits, please have all wait staff inform your customers of the extended wait time of the biscuits. They are an appetizer item as it's handmade per order (they were worth the wait) and people are usually expecting a fast turn around on appetizers.

Came here on a whim since the restaurant nearby I wanted to visit was closed. Evelyn’s upon entrance smelled of Jasmine and violets and had peaceful music playing with a great dim lit ambiance. Bartender was pleasant and prompt. My cosmo was amazing. I got scallops for my first time and some biscuits and it was fantastic. Will be back as a Nashville native!! 10/10

Had a great time here—everything was well done. The food was tasty, the portions were generous, and the staff was warm and attentive. While nothing quite blew me away, the overall experience was enjoyable and easy to recommend. It’s a solid choice for a relaxed, satisfying meal, even if it doesn’t quite make the “must-visit” list.

It’s rare for me to enjoy everything about a restaurant — I’m a very picky eater, especially as a vegetarian. I had low expectations for Evelyn’s, given its American cuisine, but they truly exceeded them. The vegetarian options go far beyond the usual fries and Brussels sprouts — they’re creative, flavorful, and elevated. Highlights included the Confit Potatoes on a red pepper sauce (perfectly cooked and full of flavor), the Shishito Peppers (non-spicy, lightly cooked, and a hit with everyone at the table), and the Bread Pudding, which is an absolute must-try. The chef’s creativity really impressed me. Ambiance: I dined with five strangers for a conversation-focused event, and the setting was perfect — quiet, classy, and subtly romantic, with soft music and a sophisticated vibe. Service: 10/10. The staff was friendly, attentive, and guided us through the menu. A sweet touch: everyone gets a blank postcard as a keepsake at the end. Parking: Valet is available via the hotel, but self-parking is easy, and the restaurant validates for two hours. Overall, Evelyn’s offers a truly worthwhile dining experience — thoughtful food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Google
Was staying at the Hutton Hotel and checked out this restaurant that’s located inside the hotel. The ambiance is very nice. The staff was nice and friendly. We saw a-lot of Google & yelp pictures of the corn bread so we ordered that to start. Unfortunately it was not as good as we thought it would be. My husband cut me a slice and I didn’t even finish the small slice. It was tasteless and dry. The manager came by to ask for feedback on the cornbread and we were trying to be nice about it but he admitted that he has been getting mixed reviews on the cornbread and that they recently changed their cornbread so the ones we were seeing pictures of they are no longer serving. We then got the Chicken and Dutchess potatoes. The waiter warned us that the chicken is fried and she did not lie. It was very Krispy. The dutchess potatoes was okay. Overall the restaurant was convenient because it was in the hotel but the food could have been better.

Google
Amazing breakfast spot, and considering it's in a hotel, very reasonable prices. Hostess was lazy (at best) and didn't create a good first impression ("Hi, we'd like a table for four?" "Ok"). But table service was great. The burnt ends hash was incredible, and so was the sour dough toast. Simple things but... The only other concern, though slight, was that my egg was overcooked, and didn't quite get the runny hash that I was hoping for.

Google
3rd time is not a charm. I had been here 2 previous times, one in early March and again at the end of April for my birthday. The food was spectacular during those 2 visits. The food was hot and fresh when brought out not like it had been sitting waiting for someone to finally take the time to bring to our table. The chef even came around and asked how we were enjoying our meal and telling us things about the dishes. Something was off this visit though. The food was not as good as my previous visits. There were longer than normal wait times for our food and the atmosphere just seemed different. I know they are doing some remodeling of the hotel but don't think that played a part in any of that. When making a comment about the change in food quality it was mentioned they had new management and changes had been made. Not sure if that meant there was new management in the kitchen area but one would think that was what was meant when the comment was made. Also what changes had been made? Where your source your food, who is preparing your food, what changes? Well if you are sourcing your food from different suppliers the new ones aren't as good imo. If you have new people preparing your food they aren't doing quality work. Not to say that I wouldn't try Evelyn's again someday it just won't be anytime soon. What ever changes you made fix them please.

Yelp
Not only was the food great but what made the restaurant a great experience was the server MARY! She was incredible and would just come back to see her! Such an overall great place and will definitely be back!

Yelp
The décor here strikes a perfect balance between elegance and comfort. The seating, including cozy booths with plush pillows, added a touch of homeliness without compromising the upscale feel of the restaurant. The server was attentive and prompt, which I appreciated. I had the braised short ribs, which were tender, though just a bit on the dry side. The carrots and mashed potatoes served alongside complemented the dish nicely. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience, and I enjoyed the ambiance and service.

Yelp
This was my first time going to Evelyns. We ordered the truffle fries to share. I had to the scallops and my friends both ordered the lobster Mac n cheese and short rib. Every drink we got was amazing and the bar was super cute too, I would definitely recommend sitting at the bar for a drink if you are rushed on time. The lobster Mac n cheese was creamy, but to me it lacked flavor. The lobster was worth the add on. The scallops were good with a southern twist. I would order them again. Evelyns is cute inside, service was nice, food was good not great, drinks were amazing.

Yelp
Tonight's dinner was at Evelyn's in the Hutton Hotel. Jalapeño Cheddar Corn Bread (must have) Short Rib (this was yummy and super tender) old fashioned (perfectly balanced) scallops (this was good) crab cake (not a fan - smaller crab bits rather than lump crab). Best ones are at Eddie V's. Service was great. Quick and attentive. They offer complimentary valet (with validation at the host's desk) and also there's cashless tip option but there is a fee of $1.65 to use it. So maybe bring cash.

Yelp
Came for brunch and was very happy with the meal! 7 am weekday reservation and we had the restaurant all to ourselves! The service was attentive and hotel/restaurant is immaculately designed! The French toast was on some of the best bread I have ever had, but I was surprised by the caramel on it that was not on the menu that unfortunately took away from the dish! The hash browns were pretty good and hit the savory spot!

Dexter W.

Yelp
This was a fine spot. Key word: fine. The food was good, and the drinks were delicious, but the service was certainly subpar. We had to ask multiple times for water before getting it, regardless of the fact that we were one of the only seated parties in the dining room. The portions were small too. They were not filling. They were small and left you hungry. We ordered a good amount of starters, and small plates and left still hungry.

Yelp
Great service, cute interior but if you go to restaurants for the food Evelyn's is a big skip. The scallop dish was cold and came with this awful corn pudding that tasted gritty, like an unmixed instant packet. The short ribs were cooked well, but lacked flavor.

Yelp
Evelyn's is located on the first floor of the Hutton Hotel. There's a parking garage behind and they do validate your parking (it didn't work when I was there and I still had to pay - the system seemed a bit wonky). If you park, be sure you know where you're going. The hotel can be like a maze from the garage. We had a LOT of food in this upscale American restaurant and my favorite was a surprise! The carrot ravioli is amazing, sweet and creamy. I'm not a fan of carrots and I loved this dish! Highly recommend trying this one! The chicken (so juicy), scallop (perfectly cooked) and mashed potatoes were also favorites. We had to save room for dessert and the strawberry tart was well worth it. Not overly sweet but so fresh and, honestly, addictive. I was too full to finish it but didn't let that stop me. We had impeccable service from a very knowledgeable staff as well! I can't wait to go back to Evelyn's.

Yelp
We wanted to like Evelyn's, but for the prices, it was just ok. The cocktails were ok, not great. The fried oysters had too much batter for the size of the oysters, and they came out after the soup. The shrimp and corn bisque was tasty, but I think I could have made it at home. The scampi/pappardelle was fine, but not wow. I would have preferred no bread (there was nothing to soak up), smaller pasta and a few more shrimp. The server did mostly ok, but we had to ask for a missing cocktail, and she asked us about dessert while my partner was still chewing a bite of dinner. So yeah, meh.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the food. I had the lobster bolognese and jalapeño cornbread. The Glamour Girl cocktail was perfect. The ambiance is dimly light (I went for dinner) and makes for a nice date night mood. They only had 1 server for the main seating area but she handled it well. Valet parking is free for restaurant guests.

Yelp
This is one of those places that feels like it should be getting more attention in the Nashville food scene than it is. The space is BEAUTIFUL, phenomenal staff, and every dish we tried was delicious. The menu changed seasonally, and we were in a few months ago, so a few items have changed - but can honestly say aside from one dish, we'd order any of it again. Definitely snag a reservation here for your next date night or family outing if you're debating!

Yelp
Some friends and I went to Evelyn's for brunch, and we all thought it was a great experience! To start the free validated garage parking or free valet is fantastic - although it's a little confusing on how to find the restaurant from the parking garage. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with the fried green tomato (such a cool option that's vegetarian friendly) and I was able to get it on a biscuit by request (traditionally comes on an English muffin). It was great! However, the real star is the hashbrown cakes! They are soft, potato-y, the a great crust, and fluffy interior. My friends also cleaned their plates of the eggs Benedict and the biscuits and gravy! The pricing was really good as well, I think my meal was around $14. The aesthetic inside is bright, welcoming, and comfortable. The service was fantastic, by being attentive but not annoying. Water cups never went empty. Highly recommend checking it out!

Matt W.

Yelp
This place is a must. Not only was the food amazing, but what made the experience even better was the incredible service by, Mary and her great hosts. If I had 5 hands I'd give this place 10 thumbs up.

Yelp
What a phenomenal spot. I went only two or three weeks after they opened this restaurant in the bottom of a stunning hotel. The food was absolutely phenomenal and some of the best burrata I've had! I ended up trying the steak because I haven't had anything to eat all day and it was out of this world! I've been to a lot of high-end steakhouses, and Evelyn's cook my steak absolutely perfectly. Medium rare! The s'mores desert is absolutely phenomenal with every single taste and texture you could possibly want!

Yelp
Cool atmosphere at Hutson Hotel in West End if Nashville. I had very high expectations and was disappointed in my Nashville Hot Cod Fish- very bland, not hot(added Tabasco), very good mashed potatoes and BBQ mushrooms. Red Snapper was good, tasty shrimp and grits. Cheeseburger was average. Had a very nice server and had an amazing private room. The food didn't meet expectations.

Yelp
Beautiful, stylish, contemporary and relaxing atmosphere; friendly service, very enjoyable food. Had a tasty Negroni followed by a beet salad and sweet potato ravioli w/pomegranate, pecans, apples and toasted sage in a balsamic sauce...so good! Great first experience; looking forward to the next!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. Seems underrated and I hope it gets more attention in Nashville. The service was great and the vibes were perfect. Don't forget about the complimentary valet!! I went for dinner and the ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. I had ahi tuna and the ribeye. Both were great, but the ahi tuna stole the show. I would come back just to order that and a glass of wine for something chill with friends.

Yelp
Do NOT come here. We made last minute brunch reservations. When we got there, no one was at hostess stand to greet us for a couple of minutes. Finally the hostess shows up and takes us back to a table. We ask if we can sit on the patio. There were two other tables sitting outside, eating food. She stared at me like I was speaking an alien language. I asked her if there was a problem and she said there wasn't a server available for outdoor service (even though there was food on the tables out there..). Mind you she is responding to us with incredible attitude. We were seated and quickly changed our minds about being there. On our way out, someone who seemed to be the manager asked us why we were leaving and we said because there's bad service. The hostess starts laughing loud and they ended up marking us as a no show on Open Table, which doesn't matter anyway because Open Table at least understands how good service works. If the hostess is so miserable, she should find a job where she doesn't interact with people. Food looks mid.

Yelp
The service is great. My waiter was super attentive and great ambiance. The bartender with the dreads was actually unusually rude. Asked him to have a shot as I was on a bit of a time crunch but instead he chose to have side conversations with staff and other guests instead. When I was trying to get his attention he ignored me as if I were interrupting him. Felt as if my business was not appreciated there. Please do better for future customers!

Latasha P.

Yelp
I had the lobster bolognese... 10/10. The only thing I would change is to ask for bread to go with it. The ambiance is beautiful. My bartenders Josh and Casey were PHENOMENAL. I ordered off menu drinks and they made sure to get them absolutely perfect. I will definitely be back to try the crab cake, roasted chicken, and shrimp and corn bisque. Parking is validated by restaurant via valet or self park.

Sarah S.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel and dined here for dinner and brunch. Both meals were tasty. The drinks were unique and delicious. The real gem was the service; Everyone was super nice and attentive. A bit pricier but overall good. Would come back!

Yelp
Good food, cool atmosphere, what is a fun to speak with? I recommend the cheeseburger but honestly it's just I've had their has been very tasty.

Ishmael L.

Yelp
The wife and I stopped in a few weeks ago for a pre-dinner cocktail and a bite. The ambiance is nice. It's been so long since we had been to the 1808 Grille, I couldn't remember what exactly had changed inside. The layout seems the same as before, but the decor is warm and welcoming. It's a pleasant vibe. Drinks were great. We shared an appetizer, which was good, save for the giardiniera, which was quite pungent, and did not complement the cauliflower much. Overall, it's a really nice hotel restaurant with a solid whiskey selection and bartending staff. We will be back.
google avatar

Claire K.

Yelp
Was disappointed with our visit to Evelyn's. The restaurant was empty but the hostess didn't seat us until we waited for 5-8 minutes. Started with the brussels sprouts as our appetizer and they were great. Very good flavor. However, we're very disappointed with the entrees. The roasted chicken was paired with an "instant" tasting sauce and the burrata was very sweet. One of our chickens was undercooked and they replaced it which we appreciated. Dinner took a total of 2 hours due to slow service and only one attentive server. Would not recommend with the other great options in Nashville.
google avatar

Julia C.

Yelp
The bartender was rude and we were charged the wrong price for wine. The scallops were ok. all in all it was a bad experience.

Jenni S.

Yelp
Steven "with a V" was an absolute delight. We appreciated his contribution as our server and guru of sass to a dinner of out of town friends. He gave solid dining AND tourism advice. My risotto was tasty and felt seasonal and I tried a taste of a dining companion's short rib dish. Both were great and I didn't even mention the truffle frites, tuna tartare and the Brussels small plates that we shared in advance of our meals. We bookended everything with two desserts and 6 spoons. All of the food had great flavors, the beverages were a great addition and the ambiance was thoughtful all combining for our late Sunday evening dinner to wrap up the marathon weekend with 5 stars all around.

Lena C.

Yelp
Evelyn's service was amazing from the time I drove up with the valet, until I walked into the restaurant, I asked to go to the bar area. Josh and Dan were both very friendly and polite. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, I ordered the BRAISED SHORT RIB which was tender and flavorful with bourbon demi-glazethe, placed over the whipped potatoes, roasted parsnips, this was so delicious. The punch drink Josh served was also nice, but the drink Dan created right before my eyes was amazing, refreshing and delicious, the manager was accommodating and attentive too, so what more can you ask for? I will be back, thank you Josh and Dan

Yelp
Don't bother with making a reservation here, they won't even know you had a reservation. The service was absolutely horrible and management was no help. After an hour of waiting for our drinks because they were "too busy" with only 3 tables in the entire restaurant, we got our food another hour later. The manager didn't even apologize or explain but made our server do it. Don't bother coming here it's not worth the time.

Christina B.

Yelp
Definitely skip Evelyn's. We made the mistake of having Easter brunch here. We were lured in by the delicious-sounding 4 course menu. But what a bait and switch! The brunch began with a teeny-tiny blueberry muffin that was cold and hard. We were then served a beet salad made of 1 beet and garnish. For the second course my son was served 1 piece of bacon and I received 1/2 of a piece of French toast. The third course was 2 tiny pieces of quiche. For dessert my son was served a very small, cold piece of date cake. I had a strawberry pudding that had obviously been sitting around. It was runny and had the smallest sprinkle of granola. The worst part is we were charged $55 a piece plus $5 for tea and $4 for coffee.

Dave A.

Yelp
Great food and service. Stephen was great will definitely return. Host was welcoming me and answered me by name very inviting.

Reyna A.

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner. Wonderful menu, great selection. Enjoyed the bisque and short rib. This place will definitely be one of Nashville top restaurants.
