Went there today with my mom, she got the double stack bacon burger, she substituted the fried for home fries. I got eggs and bacon, both were 10/10. My mom said the burger was juicy, the sauce was good and the tomato was fresh. She also said the home fries were well seasoned. My eggs and bacon were good. It’s been surprisingly to find a place that can actually serve fluffy scramble eggs with cheese. A+. The staff was very pleasant. Prices were reasonable but to know that the food was good on top of that is a plus!

A Local Gem for Brunch Lovers! As a JP local, I’ve been meaning to try Evergreen Eatery & Cafe—and I’m so glad I finally did! I shared brunch with a friend and every bite exceeded expectations. We ordered the steak and eggs (highly recommend!), the corned beef hash omelette, and the French toast topped with strawberries—each dish was flavorful, fresh, and generously portioned. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a slow weekday morning. I didn’t get a chance to try lunch or dinner yet, but that’s definitely on my list now. Thank you, Evergreen Eatery, for great vibes and even better eats. I’ll absolutely be back!

Wow! I never thought I would see these prices in 2025. I got the breakfast wrap which was $10 which can come with either a salad or home fries. I got the salad and the green dressing that it came with was really good, very refreshing and citrusy. My friend got the fish sandwich and that was great! I’m not someone that likes fried fish sandwiches but I would get it here. The fish was perfectly fried, batter was crispy and flaky.

I got the veggie burger it was delicious. They deliver it to you table. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. The fries were also delicious and I got a orange and pineapple smoothie that was also tasty.

Every time I eat here it is excellent. The smoked salmon Benny is the best!. Eggs cooked just right every time and the smoked salmon is very flavorful. The service was good especially for how busy they are during the weekend. The price is ggood especially for the quality and you can get extra food for not too much more. The atmosphere inside the place was fun and looked like everyone enjoyed themselves. If you eat outside it is a busy road but they have a fence and plants to help give you privacy.

Visited this local business 7:55 am for breakfast this morning! Got the multi grain pancakes with blueberries cooked inside of them, and ordered corn beef hash and rye toast, scrambled eggs with American cheese. The place was clean and the server was warm and friendly greeted with a smile and she seemed like she enjoyed her job! While waiting for my order staff let me know there was spring water or filtered water to drink if I wanted a cup while waiting. Received my order and went home to eat. The pancakes where tasty and cooked delicious the batter was light not heavy they where golden brown, the blueberries where plentiful inside the pancakes. They gave me syrup and butter. The scrambled eggs with cheese good fresh tasting, rye toasted just right fresh tasting bread and the corn beef hash was delicious season well not over salty and a excellent portion with the plate! This spot is a excellent choice for breakfast very happy and I like supporting local businesses in the community!!!!!

On a recent trip to Boston, my family and I stumbled upon a very cute restaurant near our Airbnb. Not only was the food absolutely delicious (scrum-yum-yum!), but the service was also outstanding. The staff went out of their way to engage with our kids and make them feel welcome. My youngest, who is usually very shy, had a great time chatting with our waiter—it really made the experience extra special. We ended up eating there twice during our three-day stay, which says a lot about how much we enjoyed it! We especially loved their unique approach to dinner service and the fact that they offered breakfast all day—a big win in our book. The outdoor patio was beautiful and gave us a real sense of the Boston vibe. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Staff acted stuck up and rude like i felt like why was i even there. One of those coffee shops that seem down to earth but everyone is stuck up I had high hopes for Evergreen Cafe, but honestly, it was a letdown. The service was slow and disorganized—waited nearly 40 minutes for a simple sandwich and coffee. When the food finally came, it was lukewarm and bland. The staff seemed uninterested and not particularly welcoming. The place itself felt cramped and not very clean, especially around the tables. With so many great cafes in JP, this one just doesn’t live up to the hype. Definitely not coming back anytime soon.

Came here with high hopes but unfortunately was not a fan of my experience. The food and coffee was alright -- on the expensive side, but I expected it! I got a latte and it wasn't bad but wasn't spectacular. The primary reason I didn't enjoy my time here was the ambience and atmosphere. The staff were extremely loud and made it difficult to enjoy the restaurant. Most patrons were calm, but some were extremely loud as well. Was not enjoyable overall, but I would go back to give it another shot.

I recently visited Evergreen Eatery and had the most beautiful avocado toast! It was not only visually stunning but also incredibly flavorful, topped with fresh ingredients that made each bite a delight. The bread was perfectly toasted, adding a nice crunch to the creamy avocado. The ambiance of the eatery was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. If you're a fan of avocado toast, you must try it here--it's a perfect blend of taste and presentation! I can't wait to go back for more!

Their sliders are to die for!! One of the best food places (period) in JP. Fresh baked items, lots of diff food (including fresh juice and smoothies), great customer service AND I heard they got their liquor license and will be opening their bar can't recommend this place enough, and I will budget my slim student budget just to come here weekly. Picture: pasta salad (super impressed, I hate pasta salad) that comes with the sliders. Sliders go crazy- shrimp, light coconut and curry flavor from sauce, and well meat. Fluffy slider bread. I want to try more menu items but it's so hard not to order this.

This was a different brunch experience. Find your own seat, inside or out. Order from the QR code at your table or at counter and either pay online or at counter. Servers bring you food. There is no personal engagement but please tip cause someone clears and cleans tables and brings you the food. The food is DELICIOUS and appealing. Indoor seating and trendy and good music playing. Outside is spectacular if it's nice out. The good thing is paying ahead of eating so you can actually enjoy the meal.

I really enjoyed this cozy eatery (including the cozy tents for outdoor tables) for breakfast. Staff was friendly and efficient. Coffee was excellent, and the Fried Green Tomato Benny (for Benedict, like "Eggs Benedict" - perhaps this is a Bostonism?) were glorious. Eggs perfectly poached, with a delicious hollandaise sauce. Deputy Yelper pronounced the whole milk latte to be a complete success. Handy location just across from the T stop. Will be back!

Very cute cafe with a lot of natural light. Right off the Green Street stop, great coffee and a lot of awesome food. The staff is very friendly and attentive. One of my favorite places to sit and work. I'll order a coffee, sit and work for a couple hours, then order lunch from a QR code and it's brought right to me! Cute outdoor seating too. The coffee cake muffins are to die for!

What a hidden gem! We came a Sunday 1030a and were surprised by this casual, vibey cafe: its quick service (self-seating indoors, about 20 sears; order on phone via QR; food out in 15min) and delicious food (below). We sat indoors given the 20F weather, but there is also plenty of outdoor seating with some enclosed in plastic igloos. Parking: free weekend, streetside parking 1/2 block away Ambience: 4.5/5 Price: 5/5, unbelievably affordable for JP/Boston Food: 4.5/5 - evergreen avocado toast: looks so extra, tastes so good; light yet adequately filling; gorgeous garnish, but not pretentious in its flavor, the best salmon avocado toast I've had in quite a while - omelette, make-your-own: while most cafes make these overly dry, this was textured to perfection - orange-cranberry scone: probably the most underwhelming of the bunch but still a 4 star performance, could use a little more orange imho; did not make the mistake of being dry - lemon poppy seed muffin (not pictured): excellent - wakeup burger: delicious patty/bacon/aeoli combo w fries cooked to perfection only unusual element to the menu is the extra fee for syrup, less-iced coffee, but given how affordable this place is, we welcomed the charges. will be back soon!

Great place. Food was fresh and generous, staff was friendly. Nice vibe. Menu had lots of options- everything seemed home made and though its street parking we had no problem finding a space.

A bustling eatery with a diverse menu and both indoor and outdoor seating options. The staff was friendly and took time explaining the yummy looking baked goods. It's well priced and efficient without lacking the homey vibe. I was disappointed by the almond croissant, which had a creamy filling not reminiscent of almonds or almond paste that I've not encountered in this type of pastry before.

Great local place adjacent to Green St T station. Great food, very reasonable prices (Eggs Benedict with hash browns for $10), nice people.

This has become one of my favorite places to stop by for many reasons: it's convenient location (xcr Green St Station), the atmosphere (comfy cozy), it's small but there's seating outdoors with little private pods available and family friendly but there are times when there are no seats available so be prepared, cool customer service (friendly not bubbly) which is fine it feels genuine, the food (tasty)-i get the smash burger $8 and fries$3, lemonade $5 and peanut butter cookie all the time and sometimes a salad with chicken, avocado, and boiled egg added which is extra but my belly wants what my belly wants, the prices(affordable$-$$). Their menu sounds delightful, so many things to I want to try and I will!!!

Evergreen is located in our neighborhood and we love coming here on the weekend for brunch. It's one of our go-to spots when we have visitors too. In the summer months the patio is open and it's a cozy spot that can seat small groups. Their triple-decker sandwich is delicious, and so is everything else on the menu!

I had a great experience here at Evergreen. It was a nice walk away from the starting line for the BAA half marathon so I figured I'd walk over while I waited for my partner to finish the race. The staff were so friendly, the food came out super quickly, and the food and coffee were delicious. I got some food to go for my partner and it was the perfect post run meal!

Fantastic place to eat and chill and chat. Easy-going but still serious about providing some nicely-prepared food. Breakfast anytime and a variety of good looking items come the midday. Tried the Western Omelette, which was deeply satisfying. The veggies were properly wilted from the skillet, tucked into the fluffy eggy half-circle. (I asked for salsa on the side, which wasn't as memorable; jarred I think). The home fries were fine, though I prefer them a bit longer cooked. Chunky triangles of red potato coated in a light seasoning. I respect how there are all sorts of ways to try items on the menu. A la cart eggs, fries, pancakes, you name it. Couldn't resist trying one single pancake - and that was the best hunch. Moist, flavorful with a hint of cinnamon. Delish. My dining companion loved the Wake Up Burger, enjoying the fries that come with. They swapped out the American for cheddar cheese, no problem. Can't wait to come back. Cool QR ordering from your table, or just walk inside (with a mask), and do it there.

The food here is 10/10. The fish and chips was probably my favorite and could tell the fish was made using real fish. Everything my girlfriend and I got tasted really good and fresh. The only thing I would suggest for improvement is the speed of our orders and organization behind the counter. We could tell there was some confusion with our order and getting the food out.

Solid little cafe with outdoor dining and plenty of options to eat. I came here for brunch and generally had a good time. I ended up eating outside, since it was HOT that day. However, I wouldn't recommend eating inside (on a date or with friends), it's just a bit rinky dink for the location and the food they offer. Getting a table was easy, just walked in, since they don't take reservations. They don't offer table service, you either order on your phone or at the counter and they bring the food to you. You also have to clear your own table. I ordered french toast and it was good, but the bread was a bit too hard. Not a deal breaker, just not my style. I also ordered eggs and bacon and it was just fine. Honestly, nothing to write home about. Overall, this is a decent spot and I would absolutely come here again. But if you do come here, it's good to know what to expect.

Evergreen is consistently great. Over the 10+ times I've been to Evergreen since it opened, the quality of the food never fails, the presentation is always stellar, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I'm so happy Evergreen made it through COVID and is thriving in JP. Couldn't recommend this place more.

I love this place. The food is terrific (shout out to the fried green tomato Benny, vegan avocado toast, and salad with grilled chicken, my go-to orders) and the staff is friendly, and the ambiance is great, both out on the patio and indoors. It's my favorite place to eat in JP.

My roommate and her partner are obsessed with evergreen. They go there basically on a weekly basis, and I decided to try it after a long Costco shopping day. FYI if you want to have breakfast on a Sunday you have to place your order before 3pm because they don't serve it afterwards. We ordered an iced caramel latte with oat milk, mashed burger, and mushroom/ kale omelette with cheese. The latte was SO good, and perfectly sweetened. The burger had a side of french fries (bagged frozen fries) and the omelette had seasoned potatoes (could have used more seasoning). The burger and the Russian sauce were really scrumptious and the omelette was really big and tasty. I give it a four star rating because although I try to avoid potatoes/fries, I do like to pick at them and they could have tasted more fresh and had more seasoning.

When multiple people randomly point out to you their favorite dish on the menu, it has to be a good place. And it is! Lots of outdoor seating, friendly staff, wide variety on the menu , including vegan.

Dont know what they put in here but my god the food is mighty fine. My husband goes here often after work and introduced me to it and I haven't had any bad experiences. The food is so flavorful and its so perfectly done. Ive tried so many different dishes here with him and never disliked anything. The service is great, they bring the food to you and its very cozy and cute here. Although I will mention, their fish has quite an intense coating of their breading. Its a lot of breading on their fried seafood dishes but its still quite tasty.

First glance at the food options in Boston was underwhelming. It had originally seemed like most of the food was half-assed due to the drinking culture (why waste time making foods with complex ingredients/flavors when most of the eaters will be intoxicated). But.. man.. Evergreen restored hope. I typed in "Real Maple" and Evergreen was one of the first places to pop up. Let me say that It did not disappoint. Started off with the brioche french toast and till date, it is the best tasting french toast that i've ever had. Thick exterior with a nice buttery and moist cinnamon interior..my God. And then topped off with REAL maple. My only gripe is the lack of regular sausage and the thin costco bacon. The location could also be better.. it can get very cramped. I will definitely be back anytime im in Boston

I got the Wakeup Burger, specifically asked for no bacon & salad on the side. Not only did they get the order wrong, the slow service had me running late and the bacon triggered my allergic reaction. Terrible experience. Would not recommend.

Wow... the cinnamon French Toast was such a home run. Just an amazing menu item. The breakfast smash burger was totally delicious. The corned beef hash was perfect... just flavor flavor flavor!!!! Nice staff. Nice setting. Definitely would eat here again

I've been to this place more times than I can count, over the past several months. I've enjoyed everything I've had-omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, cookies, brownies, fresh juices and more. But today I had blueberry pancakes, and I have to say that they were THEE MOST DELICIOUS PANCAKES I'VE EVER HAD! I believe it's made from some combination of flour varieties. The texture is more coarse than that of any pancakes I've had made from just wheat flour. Whatever it is, IT'S GOOD! Always friendly service too!

Great food, and they used to have the best patio in JP, except for the fact that they've left all the plastic "pods" up even though we're well into summer...makes for a warm and stuffy dining experience that would otherwise be quite lovely

Visiting Boston for the week and for the Bacon Breakfast Wrap and Avocado Toast and OMGGGG it was literally the best breakfast wrap I've had ever. It was soooo good. The avocado toast was also amazing. Wowwww, I already want more. Of course I forgot to take a photo.

We loved the presentation of the avocado toasts and the fruit. The eggs Benedict had good flavors and they were kind enough to do the sauce on the side. Sadly my food was Lukewarm despite coming out first. The breakfast burrito was pretty basic. The ambiance was fantastic which is largely why we rated it so high.

WOAH this place is awesome for a more upscale breakfast. The atmosphere is busy and warm. They have outdoor seating and a bar to sit at in addition to quite a few tables. I had the vegan avocado toast, which was truly AMAZING. The visual of the plate was just the beginning, because the taste was even more impressive. My friend had an omelette which she highly recommended. I tried her home fries and truth be told I did not think they were as crispy as I would have liked (personal preference). But she loved them and they were in fact spiced really nicely. Also as a coffee snob, their coffee was pretty good, which also helps their rating. They had a large variety of coffee drinks, and even a light and a dark roast option for drip. It was definitely much better than your average diner coffee. ALSO this place gets cooler because it also has fully stocked to go area, which I didn't get to peak at. BUT I definitely want to check it out when I need more of a coffee shop stop.

This was my first time at Evergreen and I've decided that I will need to return. I tried their breakfast burger which consisted of the Smashburger with perfectly cooked egg and bacon with lettuce tomatoes and spicy aïoli. I did ask for the salad on the side but they accidentally gave me the fries instead. I'm glad they did because their fries were exceptional: borderline between .."is it fried or is it baked" crunch The bun was perfectly toasted, burger was juicy, and as mentioned, the egg was runny enough to add as sauce to the spicy aïoli. My coffee was not exceptional but I can tell that it was light roast. The milk tasted more like cream so I was slightly disappointed with that but I'm sure you could better put them to the test through an Americano. My friend had a vegetarian omelette and he was pleased. But what was far more impressive than the food was the fact that the owner came over to bring me a heated cushion even before an ask. On a weekend nevertheless. He must've seen that I was shivering and decided to relieve me from my misery. We sat outside. The ambience was quite nice despite the fact that the heaters were not all that helpful at 40° temperature. No blame on this establishment since I am one who shivers at 70° My friend enjoyed his pumpkin spice latte so I will assume that I simply need to try more drinks to offer a better assessment of their coffee. They are quite busy on Sunday mornings and they do not take reservations but they do turn tables quickly. I will say that this JP breakfast bunch eatery reminds me somewhat of Milkweed's creative nuance, Life Alive's ingredient freshness, and slightly above average staff attentiveness of the old Bella Luna on a good day. There are no photos of my food for reasons stated. I was too busy shaking while preoccupied savoring my perfectly crisp fries. Come taste for yourself.

Man, visitor from CA SF Bay Area here. Food was on POINT! So delicious!!! Let's get some logistics out of the way. This place has a parking lot! It's the unpaved lot directly across the street from the restaurant. That's a huge bonus! When you go in, the smaller area is for to go orders only. The area with actual tables is for dine in. We made the mistake of ordering from the take out section. They had to cancel and refund in order for us to eat at the dine in section. Plenty of seating inside and out. We ordered the following: Avocado toast w/ smoked salmon Breakfast wrap Brioche French toast Side of fruit and bacon. Everything was amazing. They even wiped the grease off the bacon before serving! Their presentation was awesome to. I don't really care about this specifically but the food actually looked excellent. I definitely recommend this place!

Do you know what makes Evergreen Eatery a great find? The fact that there is a private parking lot conveniently located across the street. We arrived without making a reservation at 10:30 am and were seated within minutes. The staff is hospitable and willing to accommodate our needs. I ordered poached eggs on my avocado toast instead of hard-boiled eggs. This is a hidden gem in Jamaica Plain, you should give it a go! The reason I gave this a 4/5 star is because it took a while to get our food. We didn't order anything too complicated or extensive. The wait may have been due to the fact that it was a little busy.

Evergreen Eatery is a really quaint local spot! The pancakes, spinach wrap and classic benny were super delicious, but skip the corned beef hash.

This place is hot or miss, sometimes you get some really tasty stuff, sometimes not. This place is expensive so be prepared for that but considering where it is, no surprise. They have tables & chairs outside which is nice to have during a pandemic. It's good to have a variety of sandwiches, salads, beverages, and pastries but I wish they had more vegan options though.

**Note: There is parking here, it's just across the street in an empty lot. There's signs there, but it's pretty small** Now, since the parking situation is all figured out... This was our place to eat when we had some time to kill before we went and sampled beers down the street at the Samuel Adams Brewing Company. I saw this place and decided why not. This was after my failed attempt at finding a breakfast spot that was closed on the weekends. My order was simple, a salmon eggs benedict. It was cooked perfectly and well, that's it right? I mean a benedict is hard to cook and this place did it well. When you break the yolk it came spilling out and wasn't hard and using that english muffin to sop up all the yolk is one of the best things about benedicts. The salmon was fresh and didn't have any funky smell to it so there's that. The capers were also a nice touch that also of course pairs well with the salmon. The service was great, and there's really nothing much more to say about Evergreen. It's a solid 4 stars from me, and would be a place where I would eat brunch if I lived here. If you do live here, check this place out and it could possibly be a place where you become a brunch regular.

Ah, Evergreen. You probably won't find a better blend of price/service/presentation/taste/variety/quality in all of Jamaica Plain, maybe all of Boston. Everything you get here is presented beautifully and priced appropriately. They've done some great things during COVID to stay afloat too, and I am SO glad they are here. I've been coming here frequently. I like to order through the Toast app.

I just want to warn you from buying deserts here specifically Lotta Java Coffee Cake! Although it is overpriced. Note it has no date of cooking and best by date(. Tastes like very old. I guess the others are the same as it looks like no one buying them! Update as of 6/2/2021 I was refunded the whole price and given a new vegan desert Key lime pie as a courtesy. The manager was kind and apologized for the coffee cake. Therefore for I add 1 star for the management's attitude!

This place has been one of the few bright spots during the pandemic, and I'm so happy they're here. During the quarantimes, they have a safe and efficient set-up with plenty of space and barriers/precautions: you order at the window or online via Toast, and then wait at another window to pick up your food/drinks when ready. You can take your order to go, or sit on the DIY outdoor patio (no table service). Service is always with a smile, and the food/drinks are still consistently solid (nowadays I'm especially a fan of their frozen cappuccino and their homemade whoopie pie, along with all my usual breakfasty favorites) and very well priced. And there seems to be a big focus on safety and health- key nowadays-, plus they offer dinner now too which is awesome. Definitely one of my favorite regular spots, especially during pandemic times- let's make sure we patronize them enough so they make it through and stick around for many years to come.

Finally got a chance to go for breakfast. Warning: This review is written by a parent. I'm going to talk about kid-related things. You've been warned. First off, can we talk hours? They are open at 7 am. Every day. The diner itself is only closed on Mondays. What does this mean? It means that when my kids wake up at the crack of dawn and I *need* to get out of the house, I can take us to Evergreen, eat breakfast, and be done before most people have even brushed their teeth. This is awesome. Let's talk food. I liked the food I'd tried in the express, but I was really blown away by how good the food was in the diner. I got the Evergreen Avocado Toast. Yes, I know, I'm a millennial, I'm supposedly ruining the world. I get it. But Evergreen gets it even more. They know that I'm a mid-30s parent who just wants to feel special. So they took the concept of avocado toast and dialed it up to 11. They added pesto, capers, smoked salmon, and... ikura. It was excellent, and I don't even care that it was $11. It was fantastic. The other folks in our party got more traditional brunch fare (pancakes, eggs benedict, etc.) and all thought the food was excellent. I snagged some pancakes with syrup (potentially real maple? seemed that way) and was impressed with their delicious multi-grain-ness. Also really liked the fruit side ($3); it got extra points for going beyond traditional fruit sides by including mango. We also tried the fresh squeezed OJ and it was DIVINE. Totally delicious. In terms of kid-friendliness, here's my rundown: -Kid-friendly hours: YEP -High-chairs aplenty: TOTS -Outdoor seating so I don't feel quite so bad when my kid makes a mess or is loud: YOU KNOW IT -Distracting environs: YES! (dogs on parade, occasional shuttle buses, trucks, other kids, etc.) -Plastic cups for kids: OBVS. -Ability to get a single pancake or side of eggs: YEPPERS ($3) -Kids beverage options: OK. (They had regular milk, but no chocolate milk. (I thought they'd be able to add chocolate syrup from the cafe, but that turned out to be mocha syrup.) I know it seems like a little thing, but I do think it'd be a nice option to have it. Also: If you don't do hot chocolate in the summer (even for kids), I'd recommend having a different menu that doesn't list it as an option, or note it as "seasonal." Another idea: Have half-sized (kids only) smoothies (marketing idea: Call the snowflake an "Elsa!") or some herbal iced teas. That said, they do have yummy juice options that would likely work for many children, just not one of ours in that particular moment. #4yearolds) Overall, I thought the food was fantastic and I can't wait to go back. SO excited to have something that finally seems like it'll work in this space!!

We were so hungry and in a new neighborhood. Had a quick hunt on yelp and this sounded perfect. It was! Brunch all day for me --I had Eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes and hash browns. Yum! And my sister wanted a sandwich: hello salmon burger! Will definitely be back when I'm near.

Very cute little breakfast cafe. They do have lunch and dinner, but i can only speak for breakfast. Even during COVID, i still felt safe eating here. The food was flavorful, fresh and creative. I had the avocado toast. The toast was sourdough bread. It all came together nicely. See image. Very tasty. I ordered the banana multigrain pancakes. They were fluffy and flavorful. There weren't overly sweet. My toddler enjoyed them and so did my husband. This place is nice for catching up with a friend or two, a date or just carrying out

Evergreen is the perfect casual neighborhood spot: walk up to order, get your own water, etc. JP vibes are real strong in there in the best way possible. Staff are super friendly. You can get breakfast & coffee all day which I love. Most importantly, the food is genuinely delicious (and very reasonably priced!!). The avocado toasts are presented beautifully and are very filling. French fries that came with the burger were perfectly crisped. Highly recommend :)

The fish and chips are the bomb. The BLT is the bomb. The smashburger is the bomb. The breakfast sandwiches are good and cheap and way fresher than Dunkies. You can order regular food at breakfast time.

Really good food and great Covid precautions. They have outdoor seating, several of the tables have individual tent-like enclosures and space heaters so you can be cozy while being Covid-safe. Indoors there were dividers between tables, but I felt more comfortable eating outside at one of the enclosed tables. I had the French toast and home fries, both absolutely delicious. My friend had one of the avocado toast options which looked fancy and she said was very good. They also had free water and a clean restroom. Highly recommend!

Evergreen is my go-to breakfast spot in the Egleston Square area. Everything I've eaten there is delicious and their little to go coffee bar area is the perfect place to grab a latte or a breakfast sandwich before hopping on the T. Their menu has a lot of the breakfast classics you expect, but also some healthier options with a southeast Asian twist like the Vietnamese rice wrap BLT. My favorite order is the fried green egg Benny with a side of corned beef hash. The hash is homemade with lots of potatoes, onion, scallions and chunks of salty meat. I love it. They also have other hash options like the hash omelet, also delicious. There's a hash Benny too but I love the fried tomatoes so my order is the best of both worlds. Their French toast is also excellent. For drinks they have a full espresso bar and a few smoothie options. They all have banana in them which I don't eat, but friends who have ordered the smoothies liked them a lot. Not a coffee or smoothie person? The dark hot chocolate is liquid crack. Get it. My only issue has been some inconsistent service. The staff are always very nice but can be crazy slow. On my most recent visit we got a table right away but it took 10 minutes to get menus and waters, another 10 to order coffees, 10 to GET the coffees, another 10 to place food orders (the runner who brought coffees wouldn't take our order) and another 30 or longer to actually get the food. We were there for over 2 hours. Craziness!!! If it had been my first visit this would be a 2 star review and I would only reluctantly go back. Since I'd been 5+ times before with moderate waits instead of obscene, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that some staff must have called out last minute or something. TL;DR: delicious breakfast/lunch cafe with unique and healthy options but if you go to the sit down portion of the restaurant, never expect to be out within an hour, and to be safe, don't make plans within 2.
