"If you dream of fried chicken on every corner in the Seattle area, Ezell’s is working on it. This local staple is opening their 17th location in Kirkland on August 6, but is no stranger to the Eastside (with its current Bellevue and Factoria locations). Expect the same great tenders, dinner rolls, and peach cobbler with a few small tables.  We recently checked out Ezell's Famous Kitchen. Read our first thoughts here. "This recently opened location in Kirkland has a huge dining area (seriously you could fit an entire wedding reception in here), but it’s just a little too new and polished for our liking. It’s so new that the place doesn't even smell like chicken skin and yeasty bread rolls. Plus, the tenders are tiny and dry. We’ll come back when enough chicken has been fried that we can wear the scent of the restaurant as a cologne." - kayla sager riley

The chicken strips were delicious but unfortunately the portion was too small. It was honestly smaller than a kid meal. I am nit sure if they made a mistake ? You can see the picture. David the manager was nice. Good location and easy parking. I will give them three stars due to the small portion and I will try them again. Also Jeremiah is the nicest guy that works there and they should truly promote this young man to Management ASAP and keep him there. He has a great attitude and extremely very well mannered.

🎉So happy to have a new Ezell’s location close by. I’ve been eating this bird for over two decades and it always satisfies. This is a true Seattle area staple with rich history. The new bright clean location comes correct with smiling faces and no frills. If you aren’t familiar, order “spicy” as it’s just right but not hot spicy by any means; just flavorful. Mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy and rolls are a must as is sweet potato pie! Give these folks a try if you like good bird! That’s my word… 🐔🍗 🔥 👏

Ezell’s Famous Chicken in Totem Lake does not disappoint! I indulged in the 3-piece spicy chicken meal, and it was a flavor explosion. The chicken was perfectly crispy and packed with heat, making it a delight for spice lovers. The mac and cheese stole the show, featuring just the right amount of Tilamahook cheese for a creamy, rich texture. The potato salad was a refreshing complement, cool and fresh with a hint of tang. The vibrant atmosphere and friendly service added to the experience. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Ezell’s is a must-visit for comfort food lovers!

One of the cleanest places I’ve been in Washington. The service is amazing, friendly people, happy to help! The food was great, chicken was super juicy and the spicy wasn’t overly spicy (like a good kick), the mashed potatoes tasted so good with the gravy and their bread was out of this world.

If you live in Seattle and you love chicken, you must know Ezell's. This chicken is the one rumored to be the meal Opra sent her private jet to Seattle to pick up chicken dinners for her staff. Yes, it's that good.when you walk in, you'll get a face slap with the aroma of their famous chicken. Numerous locations around Seattle and 18 franchises in Washington. This Kirkland location just opened up this year (2024) , and this visit was not my first taste of what I believe is the best tasting chicken I have ever eaten. Single pieces are available, but the meals are the best value. I like regular but spicy is an option. I love the chicken livers; don't judge me. Staff are always polite and helpful. You can dine in or get it to go. Every Ezell's I have been to is very clean, and the quality is consistently good . Resently Ezell's celibrated 40 years of cooking it's famous chicken ,started by Ezell Stephen and Lewis Rudd in February 3, 1984 in the Central District. The chain is owned now by Faye, Ezell's former wife. 5 stars to Ezell's in Kirkland and welcome to the neighborhood.

Comfortable dining area, very clean bathrooms, easy park, good freeway access. These are the good things here. Service wasn’t bad, but pretty slow. We were disappointed with their chicken. They are not the same as other Ezell’s (bothell, Lynnwood) we’ve had. The meat here is not juicy at all. Safeway might even beat this.

Staff was friendly and helpful, and food came out quickly. As others have mentioned, the prices are high in relation to the portion, and as one other review mentioned, the food is bland. The chicken was unseasoned.

Yelp
We enjoyed a great meal at the newly opened Ezell's chicken at Totem Lake. Everything was delicious, with generous portions and a nice dining area with room for people waiting for their to-go orders. The staff were amazing considering they were so newly opened. Cheerful and attentive. It did have a community vibe with folks being greeted and the to-go pickup folks smiling as they headed out the door. Plenty of choices on the menu. I liked having so many sides and sauces to pick from. We were told everything is made on site and it sure tastes like it. We particularly enjoyed the Cole slaw, beans , wings and the Cajun fries were just right ...not set you on fire hot but real tasty. Everything arrived promptly and at just the right temperature to dive right in..of course the chicken was spectacular..that's what we're all here for. Options there too. Original, spicy or half/half. This is the best chicken around. We will be back.

Yelp
It has been a very long time since we have eaten Ezell's. Our first experience was a take-out, then drive half an hour home before eating. That experience was meh and put us off from returning. This newer Ezell's opened closer to home, so we decided to try it again. It was better this time, but it didn't wow us, either. The eatery is sizable with good seating. The staff was friendly and patient with our ordering, offering me a paper take-out menu to keep, which I can't remember receiving one since before COVID and inflation which made printing menus pointless. Ezell's must treat their staff a hella lot better than KeFC, since these folks are WAY nicer. Being not familiar with their food, we opted to order what we might have ordered at KeFC - an 8-pieces mixed combo with two jumbo sides, plus four rolls at $30.49, before tax and tip. The Food: 8 pieces mixed combo chicken - 3 Stars Nowadays, our baseline is a mix of Korean fried chicken (KoFC) and KeFC (admittedly, we are not regular consumers of KeFC, but that was the fried chicken of our youth). The chicken exterior is not as crispy as KoFC. It also doesn't have flavors except via dipping sauces. (I am spoiled by KoFC options like yangnyeom.) I am almost kicking myself for saying this next thing: their seasoning is blander than KeFC. It tasted mildly seasoned but not distinctive or recognizable, if that makes sense. Coleslaw - 1.5 Star It is so WET! I wanted to pour it through a strainer to drain the excess liquids. It tasted relatively fresh though mild/bland. Again, I want more seasoning. Mashed Potatoes - 2 Stars The mashed potatoes may have been (too) densely packed into the container. It was a solid dense lump coming out of the container. We had to mash it with a fork before we can pour gravy on top. Taste wise, it was a fresher tasting mashed potato than KeFC. It seriously needed some fluffing. The gravy needs more seasoning, too. Rolls - 2 Stars They are rolls - basic and nothing unique. I rather have biscuits. I wish the outcome was better. All items needed more flavor. We were both disappointed.

Yelp
Not again. First, the bread seemed stale, like it had been baked the previous day and was being served as leftovers. The texture was dry and unpleasant, making it hard to enjoy. The chicken was the biggest letdown. It lacked flavor entirely, and the texture was tough--almost as if it was overcooked by someone inexperienced. It honestly felt like something a fourth grader might make while playing around in the kitchen. The gravy was also a disappointment. It was bland and tasteless, adding nothing to the meal. Unfortunately, the coleslaw followed the same pattern--completely lacking in flavor.

Yelp
Saw that Ezell's had opened in Totem Lake in one of my favorite little strip malls next to everyone's favorite shoe repair in Kirkland. For some reason, this suite in the mall has never done well no matter what kind of restaurant it is. Sadly, while I love Ezell's, I am not a fan of this location. Fry was good but chicken was dry as a bone. Got the two piece meal with macaroni and cheese for 15.00 and couldn't believe the quality difference between this location and Woodinville. I would not recommend. Restaurant was clean.

Yelp
Best chicken! Friendly staff and helpful with the menu. Great dining room experience with wide areas to walk or you can get it to go in a flash.

Yelp
Yay!! I was free today for the grand opening and first day of business at the new Ezell's Famous Chicken location at Totem Lake. I love this local icon of the Puget Sound area. It is so cool to see it expanding closer to my home and that makes it more of a reason to stop by for some awesome fried chicken and delicious sides (OMG, the rolls!!!). I had an 8 piece mixed combo and a side of spicy chicken livers to go for the family. My sides included their awesome mac n cheese and bbq baked beans. All were perfectly prepared and super yummy! I have learned recently that they are going to expand the business into Spokane and then Oregon soon which is wonderful to see. There is a nice local atmosphere and pride to the Ezell locations I've been to and this new Totem Lake location is no different. It has all of the favorites in a nice setting with lots of parking and a clean bright interior and smiling faces. At the grand opening today I witnessed the ribbon cutting, got a free Ezell's reusable bag, and met the staff and some local celebrities and Kirkland community ambassadors. There was a cheerful and optimistic vibe all over this place today. I believe it will continue for a long time. Thanks Ezell's Famous Chicken for doing chicken right and making our hometown shine!

Yelp
Nice indoor setting area finally. Good location in Kirkland. They just opened today. David the manager was very nice and very welcoming. The chicken was fresh and hot. I just think the portion was too small. You can see in the picture. Because if that I give them four stars.

Kevin P.

Yelp
Seems to be improving but compared to the other Ezell's locations I've been to the chicken is smaller and the bread doesn't seem as fresh. I suggest they visit the Woodinville location to see what they are doing differently and try to emulate their quality.

Daren C.

Yelp
This place is pretty standard and consistent flavor as other locations which should be expected, but the main bummer about this place is you can't order Mac n Cheese as a side for their combo menu like you can at Woodinville at least online.

Yelp
Jeremiah is the reason I will come back to Ezells. He is amazing and always provides great customer service. Food is great and atmosphere is very clean but Jeremiah and his customer service will bring me back!

Yelp
I've been to this Ezell's location several times now, and both the food and service are always excellent. The employees are super nice and pretty fast. Highly recommend the lunch special with spicy tenders! The spicy tenders aren't that spicy, so don't be afraid if you're cautious about that sort of thing.

Rob P.

Yelp
Okay Just had the two piece combo with a side of mash potatoes and baked beans and a roll. Chicken was good but my goodness, too much of the crispy fried batter! Don't get me wrong , that stuff is good, but maybe a bit lighter, so more chicken, less batter. The mash potatoes and gravy were okay. Sort of a weird taste, but that could be me. Might opt for the Mac and cheese next time(yes, I will go back). The roll was just meh. No butter or honey, and not warm, but that's okay for me as I'm not really into too much carbs. The baked beans were AMAZING! Just like you'd expect at a bbq pit. Dunno who is the chef is behind that, but give them a bonus!,

Yelp
They have actual paper towels in this place and not napkins this amazed me I have never seen this before it's like I'm living in the future this alone is worthy of a 5 star review every place needs to start doing this I feel more at home just because of the paper towels and the food is also good and nice seasoned fries

Yelp
Sorry but the food is mediocre at best , it's no KFC for sure but it's definitely not an upgrade ... Chicken is tasteless , mashed potatoes are real but that gravy, ..... it had a real greasy flavor. The rolls served with no butter ..... The cherry on top for me was the guy back breading the chicken that sneezed 6 times while he's breading the chicken and no one batted an eye ...... praying he didn't do this to my batch before I got it ...... and all this for a cool $20.00 .... Ouch .... Hopefully I don't get a free serving of COVID with it ....

Yelp
Love their spicy tenders, this location has house made ranch which is delicious, the potato salad is also great.
