Falafel Tanami

Was curious to try out this place went the first time and absolutely loved it! I underestimated the serving size so I ordered some hummus on the side and just the pita alone left me absolutely STUFFED. Healthy, homemade, simple and delicious. I am officially a regular. Can’t wait to come back!!

The sabbich and falafel pita were appetizing. The hot sauce, tahini sauce, eggplants, and french fries all together was an excellent combination. If you're like me with a voracious appetite questioning if you should stop by here, let me answer for you: YES! This is the best place I've visited for this two food items.

HEAVEN HEAVEN HEAVEN! I come Here roughly once every 1-2 months and I’m always so impressed by the hospitality! Kind workers who serve well, and the food… honestly no words. Clean, fresh, and always hits the spot. I can not recommend this place enough. I’ve brought friends to eat here too, from out of town and months later they still speak about how it was such a highlight for them. Obsessed!! 10/10

I normally despise falafel. I consider them a poor, hard, sad substitute for meatballs. But the falafel here completely changed my mind!!! They were light, small, soft on the inside with just the right crisp on the outside. I never knew falafel could be like this!! Got a sabich pita and a falafel pita to try both, and separate falafel balls and everything was wonderful. Excellent prices too!!! The sabich comes with egg. And either pita dish comes with whatever of 11 different things you'd want to load into them - hummus, garlic, pickles, tahini, two different types of cabbage, sourkraut, Israeli salad... There is an outdoor dining area but it's hot and doesn't look like much. The inside is crammed and chaotic.

Best falafel around! Friendly service:) Prices are decent. I loved the outdoor patio - it was decorated very nicely with flowers. Will definitely be back.

The food was superb. Its freshness and the flavor is unmatched. The line out the door might have overwhelmed the kitchen causing my order to be delayed and people waiting too close for comfort next to the seating, but it was all well worth it for such a flavorful experience! The food was so good that my picture came late and out of focus, but I didn't care... 😉

I like to get fries + eggplant in my falafel pita and I don't ask for that much cabbage. It creates a dryer sandwich which allows the fried ingredients to stand out more, which is why I am writing this review. Perfection. I ruined this place for myself by eating it too often when first moving to the area. Now I eat it at a frequency that I can really appreciate it's quality. Shout out to the employees on the line, they are so nice to everyone.

Small hole in the wall, somewhat diverse in its overall look. They make falafel and they make it extremely well. The staff serving you are genuinely friendly and want to please you. Whatever you want, no matter the quantity they will put i in your pita. Food is fresh and delicious, peppers are spicy even though I thought they wouldn't be. Falafel balls are loose and soft but don't fall apart. The line moes fast and the balls keep coming out hot and fresh. Prices just went upon one dollar, the pita is now $9 each, still worth the price.

Wow! This place is a gem tucked away in Brooklyn. It's a bit far of a commute if you're in Manhattan but conveniently it's close to one of the subway station. We came on a Saturday morning right after they opened and there was no line. I got the full sized falafel pita sandwhich but honestly they stuff it so much one is big enough to share with two people. I probably would just get the half size next time. You can choose any ingredients you see on the counter including eggplants, fries, cabbages, pickled veggies, etc. Definitely make sure to get the pink minced garlic sauce, it's amazing! I asked them to put some of the pickled pepper and the baby picked eggplant on the side so I cans savor it later without overfilling my sandwich. I actually was never a fan of falafel until I ate the falafel pita sandwich here. It tasted so fresh and paired so nicely with all the sauces they have in house. The unlimited toppings also adds to the excitement as I'm a big fan of vegetables. They have small standing table area indoors as well as outdoor seating. The place is quite small so don't expect to always find seating so you might have to plan to take your food to go if it's too busy. The staff is super friendly. They take both credit and cash!

It was our final day in NYC for a few months. Time to enjoy Israeli street food in Midwood, Brooklyn. I go to Israel often, so I can't help but know what good falafel pitas should be like. This was it!! I got a falafel pitas. The pita was fresh & tasty & soft. The generous falafel inside was perfectly flavored & cooked fresh. Lots of chickpea, parsley, & seasonings made this fantastic. At the pita bar I chose many toppings to stuff the pita. I added Israeli Salad, eggplant, red cabbage, tahini, pickles, & so on. What a fantastic meal.

Had to run an errand to this area and thought maybe I can get a falafel in these parts. So yelped it. Saw quite a few listed, drove to one and thought yeah it looks nice but something drew me to this falafel spot. The real deal. Well deserving of its kudos. Hustling and bustle of a tiny place. I knew I was at the right spot. Prices are great and the falafel was scrumptious! I decided to only get a half sandwich thinking a whole would be too big for a snack. Maybe I should have lol. But the half was sooo good. It's like a roadside shack feel inside. Has some tables to sit at in enclosed space outside (that could be a little cleaner ). Otherwise loved that I ventured to this falafel joint.

They do falafel so damn well here. Being here transported me back to Israel. My biking group, queer joy ride ended our ride here last night and man I wasn't even hungry but the half falafel I got hit the spot. I got the half falafel with pickles, fries, purple cabbage, a little tachina and chummus. They even have Israeli hand soap by the sink! Truly a taste of Israel, I look forward to my return. They have a few tables outside their brick and mortar establishment that is enclosed.

My husband has been raving about this place for a while now and told me he was bringing me the "famous falafel pita sandwich." I thought: whatever... but OMG I was not prepared for how gobsmackingly good it is! The soft pita is stuffed to the brim with fluffy, deliciously seasoned falafel balls and flavorful pickled veggies & fixins - you can customize the toppings - and the combination of flavors is just mwwwah! Truly world class. I also can't get enough of the amazing chili sauce/oil. Be careful with the grilled jalapeños though as you might hit on one that carries some serious tear-inducing heat! Take it from a bonafide spicehead and heat seeker. Just so, so, so good. The best falafel pita I've ever had!

You just can't imitate perfection. You need to go to the original . This is the BEST falafel in NYC !!!! Hands down!!!! Arguably in the whole USA. Everything around it , the hummus , the schug,the pita , the Israeli salad . Everything complete the perfection!!! Highly recommended!!!!! Definitely a Destination!!!!!!

Absolutely the best falafel I've ever had! Crispy, flavorful, and paired with the creamiest hummus and tahini. The staff is friendly, portions are generous, and the vibe is cozy. Don't skip the this falafel--it's perfection. Highly recommend!

Falafels were great - full of flavor but eaten in the pita with all the other sides made our super tasty --- though they had one with a different bread that made it into almost like a falafel burrito... however, i don't know if I'd go back cuz of the people who came after - the process of ordering left much to be desired - i myself went in and went straight to the cashier to order - who looked at me blankly as i didn't notice the 3 people standing back waiting for their turn to order. I apologized and stood in line awaiting my turn to order. Your sandwiches are made to order in front of you- so it may take awhile... so when it was almost my turn, about 7-10 guys came into the shop, made lots of noise and tried to take over ordering (read: jump the line) luckily, the kind employee behind asked me for my order and i was able to order when it was my turn. this in no way is the fault of the restaurant as they can't control their customers but can be aggravating after waiting awhile.

This is the most delicious falafel you will ever eat!! All the food is PERFECT! The pita is the best ive had, the Humus, Tehini, salads are all amazinh. The eggplant is also particularly incredible and of course the falafel balls are light and fluffy and perfect! I dont come here that often because I dont live or work in brooklyn, but if i get withon 5 miles of yje place I always stop in. It's simply rhe best!!

Incredible! Best falafel and sabich in New York! I live in Brooklyn and this is the first time I went with friends. Everything was so flavorful. They also have great salads. They can make it spicy if you want. We ordered a few platters and sandwiches to go. Delicious and healthy. .

I am very new to falafel have tried many in the last year. This one is truly the best that I've had their pita bread is outstanding it's soft chewy and fresh their eggplant in the falafel It's just fantastic. I've let other people know that I've come here and they all agree with how delicious it is.!!

The best falafel in NYC! I come here regularly, everything is always fresh and tasty. The service is always good but keep in mind that it gets busy in the evenings.

Best falafel in Brooklyn. The two steady counter guys are personable, affable, hard working, & stuff the pita sufficiently that i keep coming back. Regulalry. I live over 2 miles away, & there are four falafel joints closer to me. I come to Tanami cause they make a better product & usually enough of it ( i.3. for a great in between lunch & dinner snack.) Not a fancy place, but I'm buying falafel, not grandeur.

Visiting from CA and this is *absolutely* the spot for falafel. Delivery on Yelp never worked - try UE instead. Get all the sauces you can - the pink garlic sauce will blow you away, and what is falafel without a hot sauce? Absolutely will eat here again when next In Brooklyn.

The falafel is impressive, as are its adornments. Keep in mind this isn't an elegant dine-in spot, it's small with a "not in use" bathroom. The falafel is the green kind, meticulously texture. It leads a generous $15 platter. Getting "everything" brings red cabbage, sauerkraut, eggplant, salad, bread and a hummus-and-tahini plate with optional add-ons of hot sauce and a killer garlic sauce.

I was looking for a Falafel place in Brooklyn and found Falafel Tanami. OMG this place is delicious. Everything very fresh. Falafel is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I highly recommend this place. Service is super friendly. Overall just a great place to get your falafel fix. 5+ Starts!!!

The falafel at Falafel Tanami is awesome! The employees here were very receptive and enthusiastic about their food. The person behind the counter gave me a sample of the chick peas to try and it tasted great. I ordered the falafel pita with all the trimmings. I enjoyed every bite. It's been a while since I had a great falafel for quite a number of years. I live in Maryland and the falafel restaurants there doesn't compare what's here in New York. The place here looked like a hole in the wall, but don't let that fool you. Their food is made fresh and great tasting.

Amazing veggie pita with crunchy falafel and eggplant and many veggie sides. Get the schug (spicy sauce).

Worth the hype! I was expecting to be disappointed because usually when my expectations are high, I am let down. Not this time. This falafel sandwich flooded me with memories of the shuk in israel. It's so authentic and flavored with good green spices and great red cabbage and some kind of yummy pink garlic sauce. My mouth is watering just writing this. Go. You will say it's worth the hype!!!!

I had the falafel pita They were very nice in there guided me on what to get and what ppl recommend . The two sauces he recommended at the end made my pita everything . The red pepper sauce and the mango habanero was the best combo . It's added flavor and some spice . If your into that . Def recommend 10/10 .

This was really outstanding. First visit, got a falafel plate, which comes with eight balls, hummus (including some optional toppings), salad (again, optional choices), and pita. Every component was excellent -- the falafel is definitely among the best in the city (especially at this price point), the hummus was excellent, and the pita was just perfect.

$8 for Falafel Pita with your choice of toppings like red cabbage, white cabbage, parsley, hummus, cucumber salad, etc. is really worth it. I can't believe this place doesn't have more reviews and visitors. I went on a weekday for lunch and there were two people ahead of me.

Awesome staff, simple grab and go fares. For those travelling and wishing to it ~ there are tables but no restroom access inside.

The Falafel was delicious! Very reasonably priced! Service was amazing! The server and manger made my new friend feel very welcome, by being super friendly, and was full of smiles and kind treatment. He offered a free falafel to taste and commented on how they tried to make their falafel fresh each day, which is why it tastes so good! Thank you for going above and beyond! Very much appreciated and I highly recommend this place!

This place does falafel really well. Their pitas are soft and puffy and delightful. Pile on all the toppings, especially the fried eggplant. However, they are frequently closed at random times when their posted hours say they should be open, with no explanation and no one to answer the phone so that you can check in advance.

Staff is so kind, and they PACK your pita with lots of falafel! If you are not a fan of tahini have them put it on the side because they aren't cheap with it. French fries were excellent. I will definitely be back. They have a seating area, and large selection of drinks.

This "little hole in the wall" spot has excellent food!! It may not seem like much from the outside but the quality of food served is spectacular! The falafels are delightful green morsels of deliciousness. The eggplant, pickles, and sauerkraut are all "must" toppings. The hummus and tahini dips are simple yet flavorful, fresh, and tasty. And oh my gosh, the pita bread! Thick, fluffy, moist, chewy, delicious! Terrific food for a great price. A staple and go to in Midwood!

The hygiene here is deplorable. I was shocked that families were eating here with their children. The enclosed eating area outside was filthy. There was garbage strewn throughout the already dingy floor covering. The tables and chairs are looked old and rickety. The table tops had dried liquid residue and food scrapes on them. The inside of the restaurant had more of the same. The floors were full of debris the walls were cracked and peeling the bathroom was out of order. The area of the kitchen that could be seen from behind the counter looked to be unkept as well. I did not order any food and left. I'm still in shock that families with children arriving in luxury vehicles were sitting down and eating in this dilapidated establishment but I did notice that the price point was cheap.

I feel like I am in israel every time I eat here, first off they're prices is crazy and as in crazy they're too good, for like 7 or 8 bucks you get a whole pita with falafel balls... or you can do a half pita for like half the price... forget the price their food is delicious makes me miss israel day by day! Ordered a falafel in a pita - I felt like I was back in Israel. It was absolutely delicious - Pita stuffed with generous serving of falafel balls and all toppings which included hummus, salad cabbage etc. Even pita bread was excellent. I will certainly be coming back!

I was craving something nutritious but not heavy after work one night and I stumbled upon Falafel Tanami. It's a cute little hole in the wall and it didn't look like a restaurant on the outside. Once I came in I was greeted right away and I noticed there was a lot of tables and chairs. I took a look around the food and everything looked so delicious! I decided to get a falafel platter because I was super hungry and wanted to try everything. The wait wasn't long at all and I was so excited to try it. When I got back home, it was definitely super filling. I couldn't finish even 1/3 of the entire platter. The sauces were amazing. I was warned that the hot sauce would be super spicy but I decided to take that challenge. The hot sauce was indeed super spicy but now I get cravings for how delicious it was. I would get Falafel Tanami everything I'm craving this! Also the prices are very reasonable!

So my brother suddenly stopped the car on the way to Kings Highway and insisted I try "the best sabich ever". I had never heard of sabich until today but I'm game... Walking into Falafel Tanami I felt like I was in a classic Israeli falafel shop. The wonderful aromas, warm welcome, and colorful vegetable salads on display warmed my appetite. While we waited for the fresh eggs to boil we had some warm fluffy pita with hot crispy outside, soft inside falafel balls with a platter of humus, tehina, spicy garlic sauce, hot red pepper sauce. Then we had the famous sabich: warm fluffy pita with overflowing fillings: hummus, pickles, chopped fresh eggs, spicy pickled mango sauce, fried eggplant, spicy garlic sauce, topped with fresh French fries. Every bite was a flavorful discovery. (And deliciously messy-use your napkins lol) The place is cozy with plenty of seating but fills up quickly. Overall a delicious experience

Best falafel outside of Israel hands down!!! So crunchy and crispy and fresh every time!! The sabich is also really delicious and prepared in small batches to ensure freshness. There's only a few things on the menu but when everything tastes so good you don't need more. All the basic toppings are included-- Israeli salad, schug, hummus, tahini, amba, and 3 types of cabbage. Everything tightly packed into a soft fresh baked pita. What more do you need?

Came here for a late lunch. There is a municipal parking lot located nearby so finding parking was simple. I had a falafel sandwich with hummus, Israeli salad, cabbage, roasted pepper, garlic, onion, and tahini sauce. Service was quick and the sandwich was reasonably priced at $7.

What if I told you, you can taste Israel right here in Brooklyn? What if I told you it was right here in Midwood? You'd call me crazy, right? I don't kid. Falafel Tanami opened in February and I've been hearing lots of talk about it being the best falafel in NYC. Of course I had to go see for myself. Turns out the rumors are true. I went over a few minutes ago, entered into a store that pretty much depicts a Jerusalem store and ordered a falafel. The owners, (Israeli - hence the authenticity) were very friendly and helpful. Even offered me a taste of whatever I wanted while waiting for my order. I ordered a half falafel sandwich ($4) as I wasn't too hungry but wished I'd ordered a whole. I cannot begin to tell you how I was immediately transported to Israel, the taste, the smell, the feels. Damn. The balls were perfectly fried. Crispy on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside. The pita was fresh, so were the veggies. The hot sauce was bae, spicy but not overpowering. Overall it was a helluva good sammich and I plan to swing by more often for some more delightfulness. I think they're only serving falafel and fries at the moment as I didn't see a menu when I was there. Things might change over time. Point is --- for the price of a subway ride, you too can enter Israel ha.

Falafel here definitely lives up to the hype. Fried to perfection, moist green falafel sandwich. The pita is the fluffiest I have ever had. Cost a mere $7 for a sandwich with all the fixings'. Hidden gem. Side note: not your typical falafel patron here and owner was super nice to me and welcoming, explaining everything on offer. Definitely will visit again soon.

I started coming here about 6 months ago and just keep going back. The falafel is the best, even my Israeli neighbor thought it was. Everything is fresh including the pita, they do it however you want it, and amazingly isn't messy for a falafel sandwich. I'm always disappointed that I'm finished, it is so good you just want to keep eating.

Nice people here. They do one thing, falafel, and they do it really, really well. This falafel sandwich is clearly one of the best in the neighborhood. Tahini Sauce: B The tahini sauce doesn't taste like it has lemon juice -- I can detect no citrus element in the tahini sauce. The citrus is supposed to cut the nuttiness of the sesame, and I found myself missing it. For me, the tahini sauce is the crown on top of a falafel sandwich. Falafel Sandwich: A I am hard-pressed to think of any falafel sandwich in Midwood that's better than this one.

Falafel is great and taste exactly like what you get in Israel. Would 100 percent recommend this to a friend

No joke, the best falafel I've ever had. If you've had those unfortunate dry hard lumps that some places try to pass off as falafel I feel for you, but disavow yourself of the notion that all falafel is like that. This place is small and off the main avenue but their flavors are big. They pack the pita with their moist falafel that just kept coming out for each order it seemed and whatever toppings you want. Unlike chain places that just seem to plop everything on top with no bite distribution of flavors, Falafel Tanami manage to really get everything pretty evenly accounted for in the pita. And at $8 (add the hardboiled egg, worth it) you have an extremely satisfying meal.

Best falafel in Brooklyn hands down! My family and friends all recommended this place so I caved and decided to finally go. I'm so happy that I did. I got my falafel in a Laffa which was delicious but a lot, so if you aren't so hungry definitely go for a pita instead. The Amba and Eggplant were also both wonderful inside of the sandwich. My new go-to spot for falafel.
