"The former owners of North Street Bistro in Kings Lynn relocated and opened this neighbourhood bistro on the vibrant Mill Road. Cooking is French to the core, with classic techniques and skilful execution resulting is hearty, appetising dishes. Service is friendly and there’s an all-round happy vibe." - Michelin Inspector

"“Classy” is the word to describe Fancett’s, a low-lit little bistro. It’s moodily romantic come nightfall, with co-owners Holly and Dan Fancett really leaning into the vibe with a menu of elegantly comforting Gallic classics with nifty arch glances toward modern French cooking. There’s a good-value set menu at lunch, with three courses for £28, but this is a place to hunker down for dinner. Start with the fine-cut steak tartare or a canny “lasagne” of Cornish lobster and scallop, followed by the pallid simplicity of brill lifted by chanterelles and trompettes, or a blushing pigeon breast." - James Hansen

Sublime dining experience! The food was just excellent, particularly enjoyed the Guinea Fowl. Service is impeccable and a nice ambiance, if not possibly a little dark. Reading glasses definitely needed if you’re old enough…

We came for lunch and had booked a few weeks in advance. Food was amazing - I can see why the ratings are so high! The fowl leg was incredibly juicy and tender, the moules marinieres came in the most creamy delicious sauce and the cod was beautifully crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The tartare sauce it came with was a bit flavourless but aside from that, no complaints - and the plating of everything was lovely. Really recommend trying everything on the menu!! Restaurant itself is quite tiny but it meant the ambience felt intimate and service was extremely quick and efficient, the food came out without much of a wait. Also love how the service charge is incorporated into the menu as well. Incredibly hard to get a meal of this quality for this price anywhere else!!

Great food, went for my birthday. Menus are set at a good price for amazing quality food. All dishes were great but the venison pasta was so tasty and melted in my mouth. Wine could be better, quality not the same as the food.

Good quality food for a fair price. I had their three course lunch for just under £50. I added on a foccacia to start, which was warm, and pillowy soft on the inside. The cod roe appetizer, however, was a bit of a let down as the dip tasted one-dimensional. Although the vegetables were fresh, the choice to place them within the dip made it slightly awkward to eat as they were all competing for space. The beer battered cod was quite nice. The batter was crunchy and flavourful with a hint of curry. The fish was soft, flaky, and paired well with the tartar sauce. I also loved the mushy peas underneath which added a fresh sweetness to the dish. Lastly, the rice pudding dessert. This was my favourite. The rice was plump, soft, and had a wonderfully creamy and decadent vanilla flavour. The strawberry sorbet and sauce provided a lovely sweetness and the crunch from the almond nougatine was a great touch. An absolutely wonderful end to my meal. Service was quick, friendly, and not too intrusive. The dining atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. The decor was light and stylish. I would be happy to visit again to try out more of their options!

Good service but the food is not up to the standard . The staff is warm catering and knows the menu well. They managed to pair the wine and dessert wine to my liking. Their service is always gentle and patient. The overall atmosphere is very chill with the right lighting for the food. I have seafood and poultry, which are perfectly cooked to the right degree. Every single ingredient is carefully cut and the freshness of its flavor is well persevered. BUT that is all... The orchestration of flavor is either boring or confusing. Appetizers have too many different flavors, which doesn't blend well. The souffle is pretty much a disaster. Usually souffle is meant to be light and airy for several minutes. But after that, it is expected to collapse, get dense and a bit disgusting. Knowing all these, I have never expected a restaurant to serve freshly disgusting souffle from minute one. My guess is that the content they are trying to add to the souffle is too dense. Probably raisin soaked in alcohol. The alcohol will destroy the supporting power from the egg white (which is already little to begin with!) and of course the raisin is so heavy that it basically dragged everything sinking to the bottom. So that's what we get. A caky case with slimy egg sauce in the middle. Only good for Instagram. After all, I still have a great night there. The ingredients are still good enough. And I really like the staff.

This was an absolute 5/5 dining experience. All our courses were amazing, even the olives and bread which were complimentary were sensational. Our waiter was also so nice and friendly and helpful. Would absolutely recommend this place!!

Absolutely first class! We visited for lunch with our in-laws for a birthday treat. Having booked weeks in advance and heard good things, our expectations were high and were exceeded. The menu was exciting and every single dish faultless, especially the soufflé which I enjoyed so much I forgot to photograph. Fantastic service and great ambiance - ideal for a special occasion with friends or family. Dan the owner spent time with us too. 11/10

I think they offer a different menu—maybe we just had an unlucky day because what we had wasn’t as good as the food I see here. I liked the soup the most; the fish was well-cooked, but the sauce was too salty and oily, overpowering the fish’s flavor. I had really high expectations for the dessert, but it was a big disappointment. Overall, I’d barely give this place a 3.
