Polish-Inspired Cubans and Tea-Infused Bone Broth to Arrive Downtown - Eater Chicago

"FARE is the brainchild of two former employees of the Gibsons Restaurant Group with more than 20 years of industry experience. They plan to change the menu every eight to 12 weeks with items like tea-infused bone broth and a labaneh toast with shaved zucchini and nigella seeds. They’ll also offer customizable grain bowls including a sweet potato hash egg option. FARE will also cater private and corporate events." - Ashok Selvam

Had the turkey meatball bowl - meatballs were great, love the pasta salad and pesto dressing! Nancy and the team were super nice as well :)

We have used FARE twice now for catering office lunches. Incredibly easy and delicious experience. They do a fantastic job of set up. I love the cards they use to show what each item is and ingredients. Employees find the food filling, tasty, and healthy. We will continue to order from them and know we will have a great meal.

Absolutely loved my lunch here today! I built my own bowl and everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. I loved the flavors of the green goddess slaw, roasted sweet potatoes and cauliflower. The Greek yogurt ranch was so good, too. My husband tried the salmon, meatballs, and mac & cheese and loved everything. Don’t skip on the cookies, either :) We can’t wait to come back. It was affordable, fast and we felt great after eating it. Highly recommend!

Modern warm ambience! Healthy nourishing food!! Small selection but worth it! Easy to park in front of the place temporarily parking metered.

Google
I love FARE. They are consistently on rotation for my take out lunch options. The food taste fresh and I feel healthy eating it. I recently tried their ice mocha latte for the first time and it was delicious! My only comment is I hope you consider the brussels sprouts + apple veggie side as a permanent topping choice and also consider a gluten free option of the mac and cheese!!

Wish we had this in DC! Hit me up if you want an investor! :-) On business travel and it's always hard to find healthy, convenient food choices. Came here because of the reviews and I have to say, that was one of the best veg bowls I've had, period. I topped it off with the turkey meatballs which were awesome! I also did the tahini and green goddess dressing which was delish! One recommendation, I would have ordered the salmon but it looked dry and like it had been sitting there getting too much air. I would cover it preferably with a clear glass lid. The turkey meatballs were covered and sitting in some broth which kept them fresher. I was there right at closing, which accounts for the lonely salmon. I will be back this week and then some. The roasted beets & carrots were also off the hook BTW.

Google
I’m a big fan of Food by Fare and visit regularly especially for their custom vegan bowls! I usually go to the Franklin St. location, but during my most recent visit, I had an uncomfortable interaction with one of the staff members. When I politely asked for extra toppings, the server gave me a noticeably irritated look, which made the experience feel a bit off. The cashier seemed to notice but didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to make a scene, but moving forward, I’ll stick to the Northwestern Hospital location, the staff there is always friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
Great little spot to pick to coffee and breakfast. The egg sandwich with caramelized onions is delicious. Service is super fast.

Yelp
My third or fourth time here. I usually head over when I'm getting off my train. Women owned, small business coffee shop. I try to avoid the mermaid if I can and support local. Great breakfast menu, canned drinks, and coffee/teas. The avocado toast is amazing, and they have a scrambled egg bowl that I have yet to try. Cookies are phenomenal, and they sell artisan goods as well.

Yelp
Could NOT have asked for a better lunch! WOW oh wow! Sure the photos I am sharing with this review look like dog vomit, but don't you dare judge a book by its cover because this food was PHENOMENAL! Clean, healthy and FLAVORFUL!!! It was just perfect and I am honestly SAD I don't have a location near where I live in Georgia! What I love aside from the taste (I'll dream about this place, I swear) is... That they are truly invested in using HEALTHFUL ingredients... No seed oils in sight! Thank you FARE FOOD for feeding me so well!

Yelp
Fare is a must try lunch spot. Super wholesome, filling, and delicious food that won't leave you feeling tired and nasty. Ordered a bowl with their smoked chicken, sweet potato, Mac & cheese, and wild rice. Straight GAINZ! Will absolutely be ordering again to try more. Should have taken a pic but it was too tasty

Yelp
I sent the following email to the email address listed info@foodbyfare.com on 8/23/24 and I am yet to receive a response. Dear owner, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share my recent experience at your Franklin location in Chicago, which occurred around 11:30 AM today I ordered a bowl with rice, sweet potatoes, salad, and salmon, and purchased a tahini brownie. Unfortunately, the service I received was disappointing. The staff member who served me was speaking directly over my food, so I politely requested that she move it to the side. Instead of addressing my request courteously, she roughly tossed the food aside and responded to me in a rude and dismissive manner. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, her response was merely, "I am sorry you feel that way." I have been a regular customer since your establishment first opened, often stopping by for breakfast and lunch. However, due to a recent relocation back to the city, today was my first visit in a while. Given the poor service I experienced, I regret to say that I will not be returning to your restaurant. Respect and customer service are very important to me, and I believe in spending my hard-earned money where I feel valued. I hope you take this feedback constructively to improve the experience for future customers.

Yelp
I was in downtown Chicago and wanted a bite to eat and a place to sit down and work on my laptop. Fare fit the bill. Atmosphere-5 stars; Very trendy design aesthetic with coffee shop vibes and windows that make for great people watching among the hustle and bustle of Chicago. Great for meeting up with colleagues for an afternoon coffee or smoothie. Service- 5 stars; The staff were friendly and helpful with navigating the menu. They didn't bother me while I ate and camped out in the dining room with my laptop. Food quality- 4.5 stars; They have many healthful options and plant-based and dietary restriction-friendly options. I'm more of a foodie than a health nut, but I do appreciate what Fare has going on with their menu. The avocado toast was beautiful and the smoothie made me feel like I was doing something good for my health. As far as taste, the beet smoothie was unique. I probably wouldn't order it again but that's just because it isn't my thing. Value- 2.5 stars; You get what you pay for and at Fare, you pay for the location, wholesome ingredients, and modern space. It's not cheap but it seemed fair for downtown Chicago. Overall- I had a positive experience at Fare. I wouldn't say "OMG I need to go back", but I would come here if I was in the area.

Yelp
I ordered soup, a broccoli side salad and a brownie for lunch. My online order was 20 minutes late. The soups flavor was good, but the sesame seeds added an interesting texture that I didn't love. The brownie was great! unfortunately the quality of the broccoli side salad was not good. It was supposed to have a tahini dressing, with grapes and almonds. There was zero dressing and zero almonds. The broccoli was mainly just stalks and i had one grape sliced in two. The reason I am still giving Fare 4 stars is because management was fast to follow up and refund me. They also committed to improving the quality of their broccoli salad and assured me that this was a bad day! It happens... I'm looking forward to giving Fare another try as I can tell they care about their customers and the food they are serving.

Yelp
Wooo I've been WAITING for this place to open.. pressing my face up against the window every time I go to work to see how the progress is going. I was excited to see that they were having their soft opening last week, and I was pumped to be waiting in line for my free bowl! The decor of this place is super cute: light, airy, natural and clean. The smells in here are fantastic... I was so excited to order when I finally got up to the counter. The idea of the bowls are similar to a chipotle style which I really like, I enjoy being able to see what ingredients and toppings I have to choose from. I went with a lemony kale base, with sweet and spicy cucumbers, chickpeas, chicken, and to top it off I got the tahini and pesto. Can I just say how fresh all these ingredients were?! The bowl was a little small, but still filled me up. Overall, this will definitely be a new weekly spot for me- convenient location, friendly workers, and great fresh food?! Can't ask for more :)

Yelp
finally tried this place and that's because they had a discount in the app. I had egg and cheese sandwich on English muffin and added bacon for $2.50. the sandwich was very soggy. it tasted ok though. the inside of the place is nice and the cashier acknowledged me when I came in and got my food. I'd go back here and try something else.

Yelp
This is a review for Fare in Revival Food Hall. Stopped for lunch with a friend. I wasn't sure what kind of food I wanted to eat. I've never eaten at Fare so decided to give them a try. I'm so glad I did. I had the create your own bowl. I choose grains, beets, and roasted sweet potatoes. Tahini sauce was the topper. It was so very delicious! And inexpensive for downtown pricing. Place is clean, price is right, and there are more "bowl" options.I will definitely return.

Yelp
Amazing. Fresh, healthy and convenient. The way I see it there is no competition. Totally addicted.

Yelp
I've been coming to get my lunch every day. I've been trying different toppings. I love the food because it's fresh, clean goodness. But I tried Tofu and it was small for $3 extra.

Yelp
The other one is in the New OPO (Old Post Office) see my review on that. Had the Smokey Pulled Chicken & Turkey Roast Meatball bowls w/o the meats. Staff and service is excellent. PS. The entrance is on Franklin.

Marcie J.

Yelp
My first time here. Food was flavorful, healthy, and the service was pleasant. The atmosphere was inviting and not overwhelming. I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
An American restaurant that uses juicy thigh instead of dry breast? Who would have thought? Sweet potatoes nicely roasted on greens and grain is perfect for office performance.

Malachi W.

Yelp
This Dirty Ass Store served me and other people in line Mac & Cheese which was very soupy, most likely expired, and when i sat down to eat my food there were a bunch of bugs near the window!

Yelp
Egg breakfast sandwich with bacon was very meh. Honestly you'll get a better constructed sandwich at any mcdonalds for about a quarter the price. The english muffin really let the whole thing down - it needs to be crispy enough in the middle and edges to add some texture to the experience. The eggs also need to be cooked more to drive off moisture and avoid sogginess. Also not unique to this place but why does every pay station ask for a tip? It's overpriced as it is.

Rebekah R.

Yelp
The tahini brownie is TO DIE FOR!! They make them in house fresh. They are amazing and have only a few ingredients so not full of processed crap. Go grab one today! you will not be sorry.

Yelp
This is where the food you get is just as attractive looking as the pictures. The menu is dedicated to clean tasting food, there's ala carte options to build your own bowl (kale or steamed grains or mix in my case) with additional toppings. There's a nice warm modernity to the dining room and the staff are efficient. The app makes it so much more convenient to order and pay.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast/brunch places in the district. Good coffees and chocolates. Healthy and decent amount. Spacious.

Yelp
Quick service especially if you need to grab a quick bite and head back to work. Seating is limited so if you come during the peak of lunch time you might not get a seat. The menu is very simple and straightforward with a bunch of tasty and healthy items! I ordered the smoky chicken and it came with sweet potato, which I don't like, and the employee there gave me a good suggestion on what to substitute for it (he told me the roasted apple + cabbage would go well with the bowl and it did). Overall a very cute place to get a quick lunch!

Maddie D.

Yelp
I come here all of the time, and everyone is always so friendly but the food tastes extra fresh and delicious definitely one of the best spots to go for a quick lunch! their sweet potato is incredible

Yelp
Yummy! Stopped here with my daughter for a quick snack. We had a smoothie bowl and some chocolate milk...so yummy! Clean bathrooms and nice staff.

Chris P.

Yelp
Fare's food is always fresh and tastes great. They always offer a healthy selection with a good mix of veggies, proteins and sauces. The combination is excellent, a regular lunch spot for me.

Alexis N.

Yelp
Everything is so good this place is my favorite. The avocado toast for breakfast and then the curry chickpea wrap for lunch

Amit V.

Yelp
FARE is one of my favorites! They offer healthy options that happen to taste delicious. I found the staff helpful and patient, even during busy times. They work with local farms to source their ingredients and you can taste the freshness. I am a huge fan and will keep coming back for more! PS - custom bowls are awesome and you can't go wrong with the avo toast.
