Best New Restaurants in Brooklyn, July 2025: According to Eater Editors | Eater NY

"It’s right there in the name: Samuel Saverance, who had been a partner of Ethiopian restaurant Bunna Cafe, decided to go all-in on the school cafeteria staple for his Bed-Stuy restaurant. There’s the sloppy joe served on a Martin’s potato bun, alongside variations like the Mekong with ground chicken, fish sauce, crab meat, Thai red curry, and coconuts; the Cuban with ground pork, Swiss cheese, andouille sausage, and shrimp; and a vegan iteration. It’s a mainly takeout space with some dine-in seats." - Emma Orlow

Biggest NYC Restaurant Openings in June 2025 | Eater NY

"A minimalist sloppy-joe concept focused on loose-meat sandwiches that show international influences, keeping the menu deliberately small and centered on variations of the classic sandwich." - Melissa McCart

Farley’s - Review - Bedford-Stuyvesant - New York - The Infatuation

"Farley’s in Bed-Stuy calls itself the first sloppy joe-themed restaurant in America. That might seem slightly one note, but their launch menu is interesting—there’s The Original of course, but also The Cubano with ground pork and cubed ham, and The Mekong with ground chicken and red curry. Plus, no sandwich is over $12. Or, if you want to try a few, you can order them as sliders for $4 each. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Willa Moore

Farley’s Sloppy Joes Opens in Brooklyn | Eater NY

"Opened by Samuel Saverance (of Bunna Cafe) with partner Matt Buentello and consultation from Fred Hua, this retro diner-style takeout spot channels childhood cafeteria nostalgia by serving an all-sloppy-joe menu with more care and better ingredients than the schoolyard versions. The classic features ground beef with ketchup and Worcestershire on a Martin’s potato bun but the menu leans global and inventive: a Mekong with ground chicken, fish sauce, crab, Thai red curry and coconut on brioche; a Cuban with ground pork, Swiss cheese, andouille and shrimp on a kaiser; a vegan option using Beyond Meat and tamari in place of Worcestershire; and a half-sized Joe Jr. for kids. Priced around $10–$12 (with the Joe Jr. at $4), the shop — which debuted after a series of borough pop-ups — has a couple of seats, checkerboard flooring, and a focus on chips and nostalgic sodas like Cel‑Ray alongside its revamped comfort-food sandwiches." - Emma Orlow

Came to Farley’s for dinner tonight and it did not disappoint! Everything was amazing. I tried the BBQ one while my roommate had the Mekong. Both were delicious and packed with flavor. Couldn’t resist trying the hotdogs, great snap to them. So happy this place opened up right down the street from me. Will definitely be back.

Walked by and noticed this new spot for nostalgic sloppy joes… took me back to my childhood. The original and BBQ were delicious. LOVE that they have a $4 Junior size for a quick snack too. So happy to have this in the neighborhood.

I had The Vegan + Pickles and it was so well seasoned and cooked, you couldn’t even tell it was plant based! I took mine to go but I think it is best to eat it there since the bread gets more wet as minutes go on 😂

Growing up, sloppy joes were a weekly staple where I'm from, but I hadn't had one in YEARS until I stopped by Farley's. And they did NOT disappoint! I got 2 Jr Joes (aka sliders): The Original and The Mekong. The Original was tasty, but something felt like it was missing. Honestly, maybe just a pinch of salt or dash of soy sauce probably would've done the trick. The Mekong was delicious! I wouldn't change a thing about it. The slider buns were fresh. And I also like that the joes were hearty without feeling super heavy and greasy. The shop is super cute, has a very nostalgic feel. There was one person working when we went, and the were chill–got our order out fast. One thing I hope they consider is adding a "naked" option. Like getting your sloppy joe over lettuce or in lettuce cups/wraps. You know a lot of folks are always trying to hit their macros these days and this is a protein goldmine. Either way, I'll be back soon to try more. I love this concept of fast food/fast casual that isn't the usual burgers, chicken, or pizza.

My partner had a craving for sloppy joes and we drove from queens to try this place. It was worth it! I had the Mekong which was tasty. Apparently the menu was developed by an Asian chef! Next time I would add pickles and onions as they are freshly cut. The bbq hot dog with pickles and onions were also tasty. Our server was very helpful. It was nice that they offered junior options for kids. My son had an original with cheese and complimented that it was better than the sloppy joes at school. The music was also good!

Google
Not your average sloppy joe , once again Brooklyn outdoes itself and shows you how food should taste, the sloppy joes burst with flavor, the service was amazing, I’m making this restaurant part of my personality.

Got delivery. I’m amazed at how well it was packed, how well the food traveled, and how tasty everything is. There was a lot of care put into my order and it shows. The sloppy dog is so good!

Yelp
One of my favorite foods is the Sloppy Joe, and Farley's is an eatery that is all around this theme! Their menu has a great variety, which includes The Original, The Cubano, The Mekong, The BBQ, The Cajun, and The Vegan; they also have 'Jr' options which is a smaller version of the sandwich. We tried: +The Original - aka, The Sioux City Special - prepared with ground beef, veggies, brown mustard, Worcestershire, and spices, nestled between a Martin's sesame-seeded roll +The Cajun - prepared ground chicken, andouille sausage, shrimp, and Slap ya Mama seasoning, nestled in between a kaiser roll +and, The Mekong - with ground chicken, Thai red curry, Vietnamese fish sauce, crab meat, coconut, and lime, nestled in between a brioche bun All the items came out piping out, set on a cute red-and-white checkered parchment paper. Note that all the Joes come with a bag of chips (Ruffles, Fritos, Doritos Nacho Cheese, or Dirty's Mesquite BBQ (which is a few dollars extra). There are also sodas and even the Klondike ice cream bar for dessert (HA!). The staff were friendly and efficient, and the place is super cute, with its retro-like/tile decor - there were plenty of counter space available to dine in. +sloppy joes! +friendly staff & service +counter availability
