"Farmer Brown's expansive, brass-topped bar is set against a rustic country atmosphere perfect for soul food cuisine and cocktails. The Old-Soul Fashioned, spiked with brown sugar, sage, raspberry jam, and house-made ginger nectar, is a great start. The Front Porch Iced Tea, a mix of Bourbon, molasses, house-made ginger nectar, and fresh iced tea, is another excellent option. The classic Southern fried chicken is a must-try." - The MICHELIN Guide

Great atmosphere and excellent service. Portion sizes are small compared to other restaurants I’ve visited in San Francisco. I had the BBQ ribs. The sauce was delicious, the ribs themselves were a little tough and not really seasoned. My friends had the catfish platter and chicken and waffles. Both said the dishes were delicious. The blueberry lemonade is excellent.

When we arrived tonight, we had forgotten that we ate here years ago, and it was not memorable, so we weren't as excited. Tonight, farmerbrown redeemed itself. EVERYTHING that we ordered was flavorful, and the service was superb (thanks to Matthew)! We ate fried okra for an appetizer. It actually had pieces of fish. They were fried with cornmeal- it makes a big difference. Our party ordered the shrimp and grits (just a little salty), chicken and waffles, fried chicken with hamhock greens (deliciously spicy) and shells and cheese (perfect amount of cheese), and fried cornmeal catfish with cheesy grits (awesome grits!). We ended the evening with chocolate chip bread pudding with vanilla ice cream- so good. We will definitely return. The neighborhood is sketchy. It's cheaper to park in the garage before the restaurant ($15) vs turning the corner and parking in the next garage ($20).

Rolled in here on a Sunday during brunch. They had a live jazz band going and the place had a lively feel. The beer was good, and the food was also very good. I got the biscuits and gravy, and while it wasn't the best I've ever had it was good. The waffles were quite good as well, soft and crunchy. Service was good, the workers were all in great moods and super friendly.

Comfort food at its best. And just a short walk from Union Square. The chicken and waffles were amazing! And the veggie jambalaya was not only delicious, but so visually appealing as well. Definitely recommend when in SF.

This is our first visit to San Francisco and this restaurant was highly recommended. The location was walking distance from our hotel. The food and drinks were awesome! Hands down the best meatloaf (ground ribeye) I've had! Farmer Brown will be on our must eat when we visit again. I highly recommend!

I love this place for weekend brunch! you can order ala carte or the all-you-can-eat soul food buffet which, is awesome! every single thing tastes good, which is a rarity at any kind of all-you-can-eat situation. the catfish is divine and. the spinach salad is very pleasantly, seasoned the fried chicken is very moist and the angel biscuits are without a doubt the softest biscuits I've ever had with biscuits and gravy. can't say enough good things about the service or the food. Even the music was completely awesome. anything you get here is going to be delish!

We enjoyed the weekend buffet. This place was packed, so be ready to wait for a table. The fried chicken was on point. There wasn’t a single thing on the buffet that was disappointing. Good showing y’all.

Have heard about this place for a long time and finally made it down here. Chicken was very tasty. But my main problem is the very small pieces. Ordered the fried chicken plate (2 pieces) with two sides. The wing was tiny and the other piece was a small thigh. Feel very unsatisfied for $19.95. (photo shows the finished pieces) If a wing was one of the two pieces, I would have expected the second piece to be bigger like a breast or a big drumstick. Very disappointed and will not come back.
