"Yes, there are pretzels aplenty at this unassuming East Nashville lunch spot, but there’s also a menu of sassy takes on deli fare. The Fatbelly muffuletta layers smoked bologna, capicola, Genoa salami, Swiss and provolone cheeses and a thick layer of giardiniera and olive salad on a sesame pretzel bun. These are two-handed sandwiches, and the specials, posted on Instagram for maximum testing of impulse control, are usually gut-busters. It’s an in-and-out operation, though there are tables for dining in and engaging in friendly banter with the kitchen crew." - Ellen Fort

This is a one-way ticket to Flavortown, and the conductor is a jalapeño cheddar pretzel. This bad boy is stuffed with enough cheddar to make a cow blush and enough jalapeño to make you question your life choices. Now let’s get to the Hamma Mia! This isn’t your run-of-the-mill deli fare. This is the Godfather of sandwiches, the one you pull out when you want to flex on your friends and make them question their life choices. It starts with housemade sourdough focaccia, then, the ham and salami. The mozzarella? Stretchier than your favorite yoga instructor. To wrap it up, this sandwich is a straight-up flavor hurricane. Come give your taste buds a high five.

I can’t even begin to explain how insane this place is. The moment I walked in, I noticed Rob, an exuberant and delightful human being that was so rad and kind to everyone… Then I ordered this sandwich that I didn’t get to eat until I left because I was in a work meeting, and this is genuinely one of the best sandwiches I think I’ve ever had in my life… It was a sandwich of the day, The Samiola maybe? I can’t remember the name, so if that’s wrong, it’s a sandwich made personally by Sam Grissman and it is INSANE. The atmosphere was amazing and everyone is so nice… GENUINELY impressed today. Don’t even get me started on the caffeine content of that cold brew. 🤩

Google
Fatbelly Pretzel is one of the best bakery’s in Nashville!! I’ve been coming here for probably 2+ years now. They’re take away breakfast sando’s are soooo good! But for me the sweet pastries are the best!

Google
The sandwiches -- unbelievably tasty! The staff -- they'll truly make your day with how kind and welcoming they are! The vibes/atmosphere -- immaculate! Everything I've tried has honestly been a 10/10... you simply wont find a better sandwich shop than Fat Belly!

This one is easily a 5 on everything. If you see this post, I guarantee you, you will come back for more. Anything on their menu is amazing!

Google
I’m not one to take the time to leave reviews but couldn’t resist! Such an awesome place. The pretzels are great but even more impressive was the service. It’s hard to find places nowadays with such friendly staff. Everyone was so friendly, engaging with me and my daughter. They were all such fun people. Three different employees took the time to also give my daughter a sticker. This place is worth the 15 min drive if you’re staying downtown Nashville!

Google
Honestly the best deli i have ever been to! The Cuban was so delicious and the hamma mia was perfect with that spicy Italian chili crisp. The pricing was great as well for the amount of food we got. This will now be a staple deli and will be brining everyone here to enjoy it as well!

Google
1000/10 recommend!! My boyfriend and I drove 7 hours to Nashville, through severe storms, and had the concert we were here for get canceled. This place was literally the highlight of our trip. We were greeted immediately by a gentleman at the register (cannot remember his name for the life of me!). He knew the menu inside and out, gave us suggestions and was just so passionate about everything. I ordered 2 sodas and the guy literally got on his knees and reached in the back of the cooler to get me colder cans since he’d just filled it up. We tried the Spicy Bomba sandwich and it was AMAZING. When I say they pay attention to every detail I mean it. They put all the flavors in this sandwich.. even down to sprinkling Parmesan over the whole thing🤤 My favorite thing we got was the salted pretzel chocolate chip cookie. This thing was tender, chocolaty, salty and the pretzel pieces were fried to a crisp. I dream about these cookies lol. He must’ve heard how much I loved that cookie as well, because he gave us a free one for our car ride home😭 And, of course we got a classic salted pretzel with pimento cheese that was outstanding! I will be coming back here on our next visit. Definitely worth every single penny and more! Thank you for everything!

Yelp
I saw God while eating the Hamma Mia sandwich and he told me to come here again. I'll be doing just that.

Yelp
So I've been twice now and must say that each time I'm blown away by something. I mean there isn't really one thing in particular I recommend other than getting a lemonade with your meal. Every sandwich I've had and my friends have had, were top tier. I mean 0 complaints all around. I'll go in with the intent to order one thing and then I'll see a special or limited time sandwich and end up ordering that instead. Eventually I'll go back to the original lineup. If you're in the area and want something for lunch, look no further. The staff here is super friendly, accommodating, and all around amazing! The couple of times I've visited it's never too long of a wait in line or to receive food. They do have a few tables within, if you should want to dine in. Parking is free here until after 5 I believe. So don't panic when you see the pay to park signs. Get out. Go in. Enjoy! Ok I'm back to report that the special for today, Pho Yea Meng, and The Lango is top tier!!!

Yelp
Not sure how I've been sleeping on this place for the last year ... heed my review and don't make the same mistakes I have! Fatbelly Pretzel is the deli East Nashville needs - and their sandwiches and customer service standout among others in the neighborhood. I placed an order to-go on my drive back from downtown, and was told my sandwiches would be ready in 35-40 minutes. On a whim, I decided to stop in early and see if they were ready. Sure enough, my order had just been bagged up for me! A team member also greeted me when I arrived and was so friendly! The inside of the restaurant is adorable - exactly the classic deli vibes you'd picture from the name. I couldn't resist the KDUB - the description sounded like an elevated Turkey Club, and that's exactly what it is! Heads-up that this is a very mustardy sandwich - but I love mustard so that was no issue for me. Also - if you think the menu prices are a little steep, you'll be pleased to know that this sandwich is enormous. Plenty to share, or to make another meal! My husband ordered the Hot Muffaletta and was extremely pleased. I think it's safe to say we have a new favorite deli in East Nashville.

Lashae T.

Yelp
Sooo amazing- I got the chopped salad without meat or cheese and not only halfway through my salad I had to literally stop and write a review to tell the world how good it is! I will certainly be back, amazing service, fresh ingredients good vibes and very very good food! #Nashvillegem

Fanboy911 F.

Yelp
Everything was perfect! I tried the chicken salad sandwich. They used mustard on it, but other than that PERFECT

Michael R.

Yelp
Sandwiches are very good. Worth the 20 mile drive. Owner has a welcoming personality and it's dog friendly.

Brandon B.

Yelp
Fatbelly never misses. I've been here a few times and it's incredible each time. Got a Brutus today and it's probably the best sandwich I've ever had. Don't sleep on this place. Plus they are the nicest people ever.

Schyler D.

Yelp
Line out the door usually means great things and this is no exception! Lots of delicious sandwich options. The Hamma Mia was packed full of ingredients (too much arugula but that's my preference) and tasted wonderful. Oh and the pretzels are fantastic too, any kind you get! Only knock against this place is the prices are a bit high.

Cinque P.

Yelp
This is my go-to place for amazing breakfast, pretzels, sandwiches, desserts, or all of the above. I love this place. They have it all, and they never disappoint. The customer service is fantastic, too. Go once, and you will be hooked.

Michael B.

Yelp
This deli has extreme good sandwiches. Until Saturday they are featuring a new sandwich called The Situation. It is addictive. Don't miss a chance yo try one.

Jerome S.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best finds in Nashville for me, got me coming back here 4 days in a row. I had the chance to try all of their sandwiches, and you truly can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches. Their pretzels are also homemade from scratch and I can't stop raving about this local sandwich shop. Definitely a must try, you won't be sorry! I wish I could add more photos.

Yelp
So awesome to be able to visit the long awaited brick and mortar of Fatbelly Pretzel! Situated in a small plaza on Gallatin Ave in East Nashville, Fatbelly was a welcome addition! Recently had a friend in town and I knew exactly where we needed to go, so we ended up at Fatbelly around 11:00 AM. My pal wanted breakfast and I wanted lunch, and we both wanted a pretzel. He got the Breakfast Sando with bacon, which is pre-made, but kept hot and still quite tasty. I opted for the Hamma Mia! lunch special and we shared a plain salted pretzel. The Hamma Mia! sounded delish, but when it arrived to the table I was blown away by how much ham, salami, mozzarella, artichoke cream, chili crisp, balsamic drizzle and arugula they stuffed between that beautiful sourdough focaccia! I had to formulate a plan to eat this thing and was only able to tackle half of it. Absolutely gorgeous and tasty sammy! The pretzel was solid...and I weirdly learned that Fatbelly is a variety of pretzel. When you first see their pretzels you think to yourself "man those are skinny but also weirdly imperfect pretzels"...and they are. They are certainly not the prettiest pretzels, but the "fatbelly" signifies skinny and chewy arms with a soft, fat belly. Makes total and tasty sense now! Service was stellar and friendly. Overall, loved visiting and love having Fatbelly in the neighborhood now!

Yelp
Funky...Fresh...this place SLAPS! If you're looking for a ham and cheese on white sliced bread (who hurt you?), maybe this is not the place for you... or maybe it is... These sandwiches, A Fatbelly Sandwich, will reach down and smack you in the Nethers like you ain't been smacked before. These sandwiches are expertly crafted culinary masterpieces. From the bread to everything in between, each ingredient has been handpicked and prepared in ways that your ham and cheese mind just couldn't comprehend. The owners are badass foodies that pour every ounce of love into their craft, and it oozes out the door. My buddy painted the sick art on the walls and all the vibrant colors... He told me to try this place... now it's a problem... but the best kind... This wonderful little place is one magical experience that everyone should have in life. Amazing food, even better people... come with your family This place hits you in all the places a sandwich shouldn't... you'll ask it to again and again

Yelp
Excellent service!! The pretzels are delicious!! They also have sandwiches, which were pretty good as well! Bathroom is cute lol take a look in there.

Emily W.

Yelp
Having tried just about everything on the menu & countless daily specials--I can say this place truly never misses. Delicious flavor & texture combinations, lively environment, and extremely attentive & kind staff, making every visit enjoyable. The value for the generous size of the sandwiches is exceptional. Highly recommend the Hamma Mia or a classic salted pretzel with their pimento cheese dip! PS fatbelly if you're reading this, PLEASE bring back the midsommar sandwich that had peaches and whipped feta on it summer 2024

Tiyah S.

Yelp
OMG!!! The best in house made pretzels I've had. The place and the employees were very welcoming.

Lauren M.

Yelp
pretzel chocolate chip cookie: 7/10 salted pretzel: 7.5/10 super fun here! i'll probably go back to try the s'mores cookie and their sandwiches. everyone in there was eating sandwich and not just there for snacks so i think that's their main thing. i did rate the foods lowkey low but it's so fun here and i will be going back because they have such fun foods to try. they also have a fridge with a special coffee they make and potato salad and other little things! they have like 5 tables with 4 stools each, pretty small inside but lots of people get to go i think. seems like a good place you can go to alone. you can also preorder and they put their bags out to pickup! i went an hour before closing and they were only sold out of the cinnamon pretzel so pretty good! the pretzels also come with a free dip they have like 6 to choose from. parking lot out front, you have to register your car to parking lot but it's free except for like 2am didn't get a chance to see the bathroom or if they have one, when i go back i'll update this review lol

Hank D.

Yelp
Thanks to my buddy Ron who suggested this place after his visit and swore that it was great. Man was he on the money. The quality and taste of the sandwiches are fresh hand crafted as well as delicious. The bread you just shouldn't be able to available in Nashville, but it is a perfect compliment to care of this sandwich spot (same for the bakery and everything else on the menu). The location has the best product on both sides of the river and I am glad they choose the hood to deliver their goods to well deserving customers. Service is always with a smile and the pick up is as quick as easy. The inside ambience is welcoming and cool as hell. Swag is great food is on point today the least. Family owned and crafted with care and pride. No joke is it that this place hits all the boxes for your breakfast/lunch needs. Weekly specials are posted and always creative. Points are accumulated for purchases of products and easy to redeem. I can't say great things about these folks! Thank you for choosing the brick and mortar over the truck! We are some lucky folks!!! Run don't walk to this spot...

Alice S.

Yelp
Super close to my house, this is my go to when I want to gift or surprise someone with goodies. From breakfast sandwiches to pastries to dessert, I've never gone wrong here.

Jacob S.

Yelp
Quaint little spot. Not much space for dine in, but we timed it perfectly and was able to grab a high top. They had pastries and pretzels and bread and sides all made from scratch. Typical order process where you place the order at the counter and they bring it over to your table. Very friendly employees and food came quickly. I had the Cuban sandwich which would definitely pass in my opinion as a must have for fans of the Cuban. Being from Florida I'm quite picky and would certainly order it again though I would also like to try several other items. The muffaletta looked absolutely amazing. Adding to my list of favorites.

Robin N.

Yelp
5 enthusiastic thumbs up for this place! The stuffed pretzels and pretzel sandwiches are melt in your mouth. Get there early to catch all the options!

Sloane M.

Yelp
The best food & the best people. Everything they make is delicious, and trust me I've tried pretty much everything. OG Fatbelly lover here.

Catherine M.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in Nashville! Located in East Nashville. Great for dine in or takeout. I always order in person because they have specials posted inside. The food is fresh and the combos are interesting and unique. They carry my favorite chip brand "Dirty" Potato Chips and the surprise of DumDums at the bottom of the bag is always welcome. The staff is very welcoming and helpful especially with recommendations. I'm usually a plain sandwich girlie and I've been convinced to try all sorts of new ingredients I fell in love with.

Joy F.

Yelp
The staff was so incredibly nice and welcoming, especially when we said we were visiting from out of town. The food was so delicious. I'm still thinking of that sandwich! The next time we go to Nashville, we'll be back!

Colton V.

Yelp
Fatbelly is a great place to stop for a sandwich! They are filling, delicious, and there are plenty of options! My go to is the KDub. What I like most is how fresh the ingredients feel. The workers are all engaging and you can tell they all love the product. Bonus is they have cool merch.

Kevin R.

Yelp
I love this place! I come here once a week and get a different sandwich every time! I just order whatever the daily special is. This place Never misses! I wish they would open one of these in Hendersonville!!

Priya B.

Yelp
I've been a fan of this place since being willing to wait in long lines on hot summer mornings at the Richland Park Farmer's market and it's amazing to see how much they've continued to raise the bar with their brick & mortar. First: love the bold decor & design of this place. It exudes "take yourself less seriously and enjoy life" energy and I'm here for it. When I came in at 8 am the week of Christmas, there was a little line of loyalists like myself who came to load up on all their carby specials for the holidays. They were playing like a techno/rock Christmas playlist and this place is just FUN. All the sandwiches are legendary here but that breakfast sando is truly something special - egg, cheese, bacon, hash brown, all on a pretzel roll. Yum. Specials here are advertised on their instagram and I came on this visit for the panettone, which was festive AF and so decadent. The buffalo chicken dip from their take-home fridge made entertaining so easy. The cookies with chunks of crunchy pretzel made dealing with my family during the holidays more bearable. Also a plus: the parking lot is decently spacious here and unlike many places on the Gallatin strip, doesn't make me feel like I'm about to go towards my death trying to make a left hand turn on Gallatin.

Christina W.

Yelp
Don't debate on coming here. Just do it! It's soo good! We ordered a Cuban and a specialty sandwich the Hamma mia. The hamma mia was delicious and HUGE! There was a perfect about of sauce and a massive amount of ham and salami. The chili Mayo and balsamic drizzle complemented each other amazingly. My husband said the was the best he has ever had, and we lived in Florida for five years. (Huge compliment). He said the meat was very tender and All of the ingredients were high quality and fresh, and the employees were friendly. There is a good amount of seating, and it's cool to watch the chefs make all the sandwiches. We can't wait to come back and try their breakfast sandwiches and sweets!

Lowell R.

Yelp
Sandwiches were on point! Super good quality, and a great variety to choose from. Wife and I scouted this place before taking our kids, and we're looking forward to taking our boys. Didn't get to try the pretzels yet, but they looked great, as did the various desserts. Service was great too. Asked the guy taking our order for a recommendation, and he told us both his personal fav and the most popular. He really sold me on his fav, and it was delish. Wife and I both said "may be the best sandwich we've eaten" at one point during the meal. Ambiance was clean, and really like they were playing good music. Mostly funky Bootsy or George Clinton or Stevie Wonder. Good stuff that made us happy. Think next time we'll take the kiddos and get one of the pretzels that's stuffed with cheese and pepperoni, and a giant choc chip cookie. Good job on the restaurant! Had the Hamma Mia, wife had the KDub, we went halfsies. Really nice alternating bites.

Shane H.

Yelp
Wow!! So !! Definitely will be going back! Everything was so fresh!! Had the Lengo, Kdub, and Hamma Mia. Going out on a limb to say, the whole menu is probably

Amanda B.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try a fat belly pretzel since they were a farmers market pop up, and was super excited when they opened their own shop! I've only made it during breakfast hours so far, but their lunch specials are on my to try list! My dad and I split a breakfast sandwich and cinnamon sugar pretzels, but someone in line encouraged us to try the cinnamon roll as well. We asked if we could have it heated up, and we're were told it's hot and fresh out of the oven. Sadly it wasn't warm when it got to our table, but was still delicious! We had the pretzel later (so we got to warm it up) and it was amazing! We asked for the breakfast sandwich to be cut in half, and they did it without issue. I loved the hash-browns inside the sandwich! Super cool spot with great foods!

Bill J.

Yelp
The Hammamia will change your life. Loved it. The people are very nice too. Would definitely recommend this place

Lauren H.

Yelp
I went with a friend and we each ordered a sandwich and shared. Both sandwiches were so good! We got the mamma Mia and the gilpin. The mamma Mia has chili crunch so has a bit of a kick but not too spicy and the gilpin has nacho Doritos on it. Highly recommend both!

K D.

Yelp
We got Fat Belly for a work event and they were a hit! I went another day and got some additional items - all great. The staff was lovely as well.

Cameron K.

Yelp
THE BEST SUB EVER!!! Went here on a saturday from Belmont. It was WORTH the drive! We found this place on TikTok and decided to try! I got the G-Netty and it was probably the best sub i have ever had. Worth the money too. Also got a lemonade on the side and it was perfect. Saving the other half for dinner. AMAZING !!! Came here with my friend for lunch and ordered the J'American and my goodness. I am so full !!! This place was absolutely amazing and the staff was great. I can't wait to come back Just ordered the cinny pretzel! WOW WOW WOW!! Thank you to the wonderful staff and great atmosphere for making this experience great!

Madelyn F.

Yelp
Omfg every single time this place is sooooo good. I tell everyone about FBP, it's like being in love i can't stfu.

Michelle T.

Yelp
We picked up food for breakfast, wanted to try everything! We got a sampling of savory and sweet: brisket breakfast burrito (on special/not always available), the breakfast sando, a pretzel with cheese sauce, a cinnamon babka bun, and a pretzel danish. All of them were terrific, though I think the highlights for me personally were the breakfast sando and the pretzel danish, because I am a sucker for a good pretzel bread/bun, and they've nailed it! My partner loved the brisket burrito. Also positive points for the burrito and sandwich holding up really well for a short drive to a park nearby where we had a breakfast picnic. Only teeny-tiny criticism was that the cheese sauce for the pretzel was cold, not warm, but it was not a big deal at all -- and it was tasty with just a little kick to it. Will absolutely be back soon!

Jenna D.

Yelp
Breakfast sandwich is !! And be sure to get some cookies for the road! Service is second to none!

Kevin M.

Yelp
Probably the best deli in town. Giant sandwiches. Cool daily specials and stuff. Cuban is a must try. Professional AF staff.

Kendall R.

Yelp
I am obsessed with this place!! Looking for daily freshly made pretzels? Look no further! I've loved their pretzels since I had them at the farmers market. I was so pumped when they opened their brick and mortar, the owners are just so nice! There are some parking spots on the side. We came around noon and they were sold out of pretzels, so I recommend coming early. However, even without getting pretzels, there were so many other tasty options! I ended up getting a stuffed pesto, mozzarella pretzel and it was the stuffed pretzel of my dreams. It was so delicious. I also got to try their cinnamon sugar twist which was great. My friends and I split a cookie too and it was so unique. Lots of flavors and textures and I loved it so much. I can't wait to come back here!!

Adam P.

Yelp
The food here is awesome! My wife saw this place on TikTok and we knew we had to try it. We ordered several things so we could have the full experience. Going in with expectations of great food, we were still floored by the deliciousness of it all. Topping off the experience was the staff. It seemed like they truly loved working there and were genuinely interested in the happiness and satisfaction of their customers. The music was good, the atmosphere friendly. We will definitely be back, and when we get there, I hope they have more jalapeño cheese pull-apart bread. There was one loaf on the counter and I had to have it. One bite sent endorphins throughout my whole body, effectively making me high with the pure bliss that was this bread. Stop by Fat Belly Pretzel!

Lauren W.

Yelp
We came to fatbelly around 12:30 on a Saturday. Sadly they were already sold out of a lot of items. But everything we had was so delicious!! I got the cheddar jalapeño stuffed pretzel with pimento cheese spread and the chicken tortilla soup, which was a daily special. My friends got the pesto mozzarella stuffed pretzel, s'mores cookie, and cinnamon bb babka. Everything was soooo good!! We want to come back soon to try more items. They have a free parking lot.

Princess R.

Yelp
Fairly new sandwich shop but they're worth the hype. We went on lunch as my coworkers had already been and wanted me to experience the goodness as well. They didn't disappoint. Fat belly might be you when you leave but it's really the belly of the pretzel. The cookies are amazing and taste like heaven with pretzel chunks inside them. Everyone was super nice and friendly. We got our order quickly. They also have apparel. I look forward to going back!

Molly P.

Yelp
Finally the perfect deli in Nashville! We got one per person. Easily could've had 1/2 a sandwich per person and been full, but we wanted to try a few. Tried the signature G-Netty two specials - spicy bomba and Kdub. My favorite was the Kdub. The choc chip cookie was also juuuust amazing. So happy to have finally tried this place! Easy parking, friendly people, and quick service. Can't wait to try a salad next time.

Kaige H.

Yelp
My mouth waters just thinking of this place! We've had several sandwiches and all are stellar af but the show stopper is the hot muff! It's undeniably amazing. The staff is incredible ( they make you feel like you're a part of their friends group) the space is great, lots of parking and I have my favorite table tagged. Dope joint!

Carli M.

Yelp
Pretzels are phenomenal. Sandwich and sides not so much. Had the Hamma, was looking forward to the foccacia. It was soggy and without texture or flavor. Once I removed the cheesey goo and toppings it was edible. 4 oz serving of pasta salad, meh. My friend had the roast beef and was equally unimpressed. Go for the pretzels leave the rest behind.

Jimmie B.

Yelp
Run, don't walk to Fatbelly for the freshest pretzels and smiles in town. There is nothing that disappoints and you'll always want to grab something for later as you're leaving. The Breakfast Sando is morning perfection. The chocolate BB babka is everything you could want from a pastry: chocolates, salty, crispy top and gooey center. And if the food wasn't enough the smiling faces welcoming you like family is reason enough to start your day here.

Meredith S.

Yelp
Stopped by after physical therapy next door. This was really good. Had options of which dipping sauce I went with pimento cheese spread. They warmed it up for me there in about a minute. Front counter person was very nice. Music was a little loud inside but not too bad.

Jensen M.

Yelp
We paid ~$45 bucks for two sandos, one cookie, one bag of chips (and tip). We would pay that every day of the week. The food was the star, both sandwiches had substance (not just because they were sized well). My wife and I debated which one was better of the two we had and couldn't decide--that's a good sign. I'm not a pretzel fan so can't speak to that. But the Dutch crunch was delightful, much lighter than most of the hoagie/French rolls at many of the other places in Nash. That's at least why I justified eating a whole sandwich. It's fast casual but the brief interaction with the staff was warm/kind. We went at Friday at ~2:00 and it was dead, but rumor has it there are lines on weekends. Highly recommend. It goes on the rotation of quality east Nash grub.
